Stop blaming Russia for the energy crisis. Spiked Mary Dejevsky. 14 October 2021.
Over the past few weeks, the US and the UK have been engaged in an extraordinary example of what we have come to know, courtesy of Boris Johnson, as ‘cakeism’ – simultaneously demanding two different things that logically, and under normal circumstances, would rule each other out.
On the one hand, they have been doing their utmost to prevent Nord Stream 2 – the new Arctic to Germany gas pipeline – from going into operation, accusing Russia of energy imperialism. This is because the pipeline bypasses Ukraine – now a sort-of honorary Western ally – and could deprive Kiev of several million dollars a year in transit fees. On the other, they have been almost begging Russia to supply more gas to Europe. They have accused Russia variously of withholding gas, unilaterally reducing supplies and manipulating the market to maximise returns.
Morning everyone. Judging by the Below the Line comments (about 80% and both Top Comments) in the Mail, the more intelligent members of the population have already worked this out. At the back of this there also appears to be a more general groundswell of approval building for Putin. This is enormously dangerous for the Globalists and their Lackeys since it implies that comparisons are being made with a Free Christian Democratic Russia and the Servile Godless Marxist Tyrannies of the West.

Morning Minty et al
Good morning Stephen, Minty, Het, Al and all NoTTLers. :-))
It seems clear that an energy crisis is being manipulated, probably in order to facilitate a central bank digital currency.
Its all about control.
Good morning all.
As dark as dark can be.
Morning, all Y’all.
Still dark. No idea what the weather is like, can’t see it yet.
Yesterday’s crazed bowman seems to have killed three people in Kongsberg, and wounded more. I was wrong yesterday, this one seems to be a Danish crazed bowman.
Stand by for the unlicenced ownership of bows to be ended. The Bow Shooters association are in full damage limitation mode, but in today’s feminised society, they will lose.
My comment in the local paper, that to mobilise armed police over the whole country on the basis of one bowman in Kongsberg was an overreaction, was deleted. I wasn’t even abusive! Arseholes.
“Stand by for the unlicenced ownership of bows to be ended.” Precisely. The only weapons currently allowed will now be banned. Hungerford, Dunblane, and now this. It’s almost as if it were all planned.
I doubt it, HP. This government has demonstrated, with consummate skill and conviction, that running a drinking session in a brewery is well beyond them.
Very true. As someone who has planned such session I have an idea how it should go. (They gave me the tough jobs.)
Always watch out for the opportunists.
Perhaps it was an accident.
‘I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, so swiftly it flew, the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.
I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For who has sight so keen and strong,
That it can follow the flight of song?
Long, long afterward, in an oak
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.‘
I was never aware of the second and third verse of this poem, molamola. Thanks for posting.
Perhaps it was an accident.
‘I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, so swiftly it flew, the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.
I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For who has sight so keen and strong,
That it can follow the flight of song?
Long, long afterward, in an oak
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.‘
These familiar incidents bring an alternative meaning to:
Bring me my Bow of burning gold:
Bring me my arrows of desire:
Bring me my Spear: O clouds unfold!
Bring me my Chariot of fire!
I will not cease from Mental Fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand: Till we have built Jerusalem…
Good Morning Folks,
Broken cloudy start here
Can the clouds be mended?
Morning, Bob.
Superglue the stratos?
Good Morning all!
Britain must accept the need for fossil fuels until other options are viable
Somebody tell Boris and his latest flame.
The flame, Bob, that might well wither and die for want of fuel.
Anti-British, anti-Brexit Macron has turned France into a hostile state. 14 October 2021.
Tragic doesn’t even begin to describe it. Relations between France and Britain, Europe’s two greatest nations, the country of my birth and the country of my home, are at a multi-generational low. The situation is far worse than almost anybody realises, a heart-breaking state of affairs which will make it even harder to successfully renegotiate the Northern Irish protocol.
The anger, resentment and sense of betrayal on the British side is greater even than when General de Gaulle (rightly) vetoed our applications to join the European Community in 1963 and 1967. No recent event even remotely compares: not the row with Jacques Chirac over Iraq, not the lethal use by Argentina of French Exocet missiles during the Falklands War and certainly not the endless spats over beef, BSE, fish or European treaties over the years.
France has always been our enemy! Even the entente cordiale was just a temporary and cynical arrangement to deal with the much more dangerous Germany of the time; while our later accession to the EU was allowed simply so that we could be neutered politically! We should stop faffing about and treat them as such!

Good morning all, Latest instalment on the soap opera over my teeth, I am sure there is enough material to rival Coronation Street in keeping a story line going for sixty years, providing me and my teeth live to 125, which is something I profoundly dread,
So here is the latest missive sent off to Sharlene, the NHS Complaints Officer who last time wanted to ask my dentist directly whether the Department of Health instructed him to lie to his patients, and previously tried to blame my situation on a treatment that had lasted me for 25 years, rather than anything happening now.
“Dear Sharlene Derench
Further to my email of 6th October 2021 in response to yours of 5th October, I can now provide the information you requested.
My current NHS dentist is Dr R***, BDS, DPHD, MDSc, MFDS, RCSEd at *** [there is no need to put names here, and I don’t want any more legal complications]. I have now sought a second opinion privately from A***, BDS at ***.
Today, I had my denture plate fitted. Dr R*** has now reached the limit of his capabilities within the NHS to treat me further.
1. I have to report that my denture does not fit. It interferes with the bite, my lower teeth clash against the plate and it is very uncomfortable. It is made of cheap hard plastic and really not very good. I cannot eat with it. Nor can I sing with it, and singing is important for me, since I am a key member of several local choirs with many engagements and it interferes badly with my pronunciation. I am speaking and singing with a lisp. It is much worse than the temporary denture I had back in 1988 after my accident, which did not interfere much with daily life, and I was able to live with it for several years.
2. Dr R***’s response was that I should have taken better care of my teeth. He admitted that it was not very good, but it was the best he could do. I should use Polygrip.I find that Polygrip interferes with my singing, with a claggy feeling at the back of the tongue.
3. My second opinion suggested that I could not rely on post crowns lasting long on the two intact roots UL2 and UR1 and that in his opinion they could not support a bridge over the post crowns. My only option was through implant(s), which are not available on the NHS. He suggested a cost of £3500 for two post crowns and an implant over the missing tooth, or £6000 for the two teeth either side to be extracted, implants in both and a bridge over the missing tooth. The latter would be a more permanent solution and could last a lifetime, whereas the former might give me 5-10 years of service. It is something I would have to discuss with a specialist. An alternative is to seek dental treatment abroad, where the standard of professional care is excellent and much cheaper, even after travelling costs. However, Covid restrictions make travelling very difficult right now, and I was planning on buying time until next Spring, when hopefully they will have lifted.
4. A*** advised me not to lose any more of the stump fragment over the gum line of UL2, since to grind it off might compromise the strength of any post crown over this tooth.
However, Dr R*** after failing to get the denture to fit, and after filling the root canal work in UL2 ground it down anyway. He said he was qualified and advised me that it would have no effect on the strength of any post crown put there. His denture was impossible to put in my mouth otherwise, and I was really given no choice. If I had walked out then, I would have had a sharp edge over the stump and no prospect of filling the gap in my front teeth.
5. I repeat my consideration that nothing would be achieved by simply repeating my suspicions about being instructed by the Department to lie to patients to him, which he would simply deny. It is a leading question. It is fair to ask him why the quality of the denture plate was so bad, and whether this met the clinical standards expected by the Department.
If his response is that they did, then clearly my complaint is with the Department and the instructions it gives its practitioners. My suspicion that clinical competence is being compromised to save money stands, as does my complaint against the Department of Health.
6. I am now in urgent need of another NHS dentist who can restore functionality to my teeth. Since I have lost confidence in the only two practices in M*** taking in new patients, I would be grateful if you would put me in touch with one in Worcester prepared to put my teeth right, unless the NHS can no longer provide this service. If this is the case, then perhaps this needs to be addressed in Parliament through the Secretary of State?
My other complaint is ongoing.
Best regards
Jeremy Morfey”
I have booked in a telephone consultation with my GP next week, anticipating a relapse of stress-related depression that has laid me low since my divorce and the relentless spate of unexplained termination of employment in the 2000s. All this is probably down to personality shortcomings of mine, for which I should be ashamed and should avoid any future social contact for the good of everyone, In other words, like most nottlers, I am a bolshie and grumpy old git and the care home awaits me as soon as someone can get near enough to me to section me.
In other words, like most nottlers, I am a bolshie and grumpy old git and the care home awaits me as soon as someone can get near enough to me to section me.
Morning Jeremy. That’s us! Probably our fate as well at the hands of the Intelligence Services!
I am exempt from mask wearing, because I am a contrary bolshie. I have read the stuff online and made an assessment. Only troublemakers do that.
I have never worn a mask after the firs month and never will again.
I complied until I realised I didn’t have to.
I sort of complied inasmuch as I wore a bandana, but as soon as I discovered exemption I stopped.
I lacked the confidence to try it until I did. I was only challenged once – by a bloke in a cafe. Once I told him I was exempt I didn’t worry again.
Good morning, all. Grey and breezy.
Grey and still here. Not good for wind or solar 😕 power.
SIR – I tried to contact DVLA on two consecutive days. On both I was told: “We are experiencing high call volumes, please ring back later. Goodbye.”
What a way to run a business.
Nigel Williams
Aston Rowant, Oxfordshire
What a way, indeed. It is self-perpetuating, too – and it will only get worse because of their inability to deal with a growing backlog of tens of thousands of licence applications, thanks to strikes said to be caused by unsafe working conditions. I’m sure their offices are no more ‘unsafe’ that those in the private sector, who seem to have managed perfectly well. No doubt the usual bonuses will be paid – for NOT turning up!
Its been like that for at least 2 years
I remember getting on a rush hour train in 2004. It was the line running from Nottingham to Shrewsbury, linking up with Leicester and Birmingham. It left Nottingham at around 5pm, and therefore hit the Birmingham rush hour head-on. Guess the number of carriages allocated to this train [hint – ignore the last letter in ‘carriages’].
I got one of the last seats in Loughborough. By the time it pulled into Leicester, fights were breaking out on the platform and the driver refused to leave until some people had given up their place on the train because it was getting overcrowded. It was only when I said in a loud voice into my mobile phone whether I was through to a BBC local news reporter that the driver closed the doors and set off for Solihull. I got off the train at New Street, so I don’t know how Brummie commuters heading west coped.
This seems to be the model by which organisations are to be run in a free market system. No doubt someone is getting a nice bonus, a peerage and a U.S. after dinner speaking tour out of it.
And that fuckwit Shitts does NOTHING about it – though it comes under his “command”….
Good morning, Hugh.
You are being far too generous to him.
‘Morning Bill.
On this morning’s Sky Business News there was a representative of the bus operators’ association who pointed out that there was a long delay
in the DVLA getting provisional licences for bus drivers, hence the shortage.
SIR – The National Grid’s online data for the electricity generated by Britain’s 11,000 wind turbines showed that, in the year up to mid-September, they contributed an average of only 17.6 per cent of what the country required. Sometimes the daily or even weekly rate was as low as 3 per cent.
Why can’t our politicians just look at the figures and accept that there is no way these turbines will ever supply reliable power for households and industry?
Even doubling the current number would hardly make a difference during weeks or months of low winds (and, ironically, global warming itself might be making this natural resource less reliable).
We need to use gas, coal and nuclear power for the immediate future or the country will grind to a halt.
Malcolm Kirk
Craobh Haven, Argyll
SIR – In the spring I cancelled my membership of the Conservative Party, citing its insane energy policy. I did not receive a reply. Now we are seeing the results of this policy, I wonder how many others will walk away too.
Nigel Burn-Murdoch
Hurst, Berkshire
SIR – Among the solutions being proposed to the energy crisis are fracking, nuclear power and tidal energy. None of these can be delivered within a useful time frame.
The issue at hand is a global shortage of gas, which is likely to be resolved in the middle of next year. We also have an electricity system that is too reliant on wind. Our nuclear power stations are ageing and increasingly unreliable.
Gas prices are driving electricity prices up, but so are these vulnerabilities. To address this, the Government needs to get the mothballed Calon Energy gas power stations back up and running and expand the use of our remaining coal power stations. The price cap should be abolished to prevent further chaos in the supply segment, while green levies should be moved from energy bills to general taxation, which would benefit those on low incomes who typically do not pay income tax. VAT relief over the winter is another option.
The alternative is ending the winter with just a handful of large suppliers, and the main objective of privatisation would have failed.
Kathryn Porter
London E14
SIR – Power companies have a responsibility to put shareholders first.
As someone who worked in the electricity-generation industry for nearly 40 years, I saw the current situation arising after the demise of the Central Electricity Generating Board. There has been no strategy to replace the closed-down coal plants or the elderly nuclear or gas plants. Unfortunately, neither wind nor sunlight are always available.
The electricity and gas industries should be renationalised immediately, and a proper energy plan put in place.
Steve Rutter
Blackrod, Lancashire
All good points, but I’m sorry to say that the letter-writers are wasting their time because our Prime Buffoon isn’t listening, due to his obsession with Con26 and all things greenie. Not until there are power failures will he even realise what he is doing to what is left of our prosperity, but by then it will be too late. I trust that, sooner or later, a significant number of his own MPs will grow some gonads and read him his ‘horror-scope’.
We need to use gas, coal and nuclear power for the immediate future or the country will grind to a halt.
Yes Mr Kirk but Doctrine Trumps Common Sense!
Yo Minty
How soon into the winter will it be before homes are without Gas and Electricity on the same day
When you have no Gas, you may be able to keep your house warm, cook, etc using just Electrical Appliances
When you have no Electricity, your Gas Cental heating, Hot water heater, Gas fridge, etc will all cease to operate as well
https://youtu.be/9vMR3bt3ibg
Then we will be back to candles and wood burner.
We’re pretty well stocked with candles and seasoned oak, and a shed full of the evil coal.
I’ve got a good stock of candles and a Rayburn, but I’ll be taking lots of hot baths because I need electricity to drive the pump to circulate the water.
Morning OLT. There are also going to be increases in Council Taxes and an approaching wave of inflation. This will drive pensioners and the like to the wall!
Good Morning Mr Janus
I wonder if the prime minister or any members of his government ever bother to read the DT letters and if they do are they indifferent to the points that are made about their absurd energy policy.?
Incidentally, I saw Boris Johnson’s father, Stanley, on GB News last night. I never realised before that he is just as odious as his eldest son and his daughter.
Al Gore, they say, was the first person to become a billionaire out of the environment but Stanley Johnson, who describes himself as an environmentalist, can’t have been too strapped for cash if he sent all three of his sons to Eton and his daughter to St Paul’s Girls’ School.
Morning all.
“.. can’t have been too strapped for cash …”. He was a European Commissioner or some other leech wasn’t he? ‘Nuff said.
I expect they employ someone to scan the press each day, but if that person is a ‘yes-man’ (or woman) then perhaps such uncomfortable opinions are not forwarded.
As to ‘environmentalists’ it seems to me that one can declare this position without any kind of qualification. I walk or cycle everywhere I can, or use public transport if available. If none of these options are viable I use my 5 year old, fuel-efficient car, hence it sits on the drive most of the time. I have not flown away on holiday fro neatly 20 years, and have no intention of doing so again. Does this make me an environmentalist? We save our rainwater, and the heating never goes on until Mrs HJ is verging on hypothermia. Does this qualify? When we moved into this house I replaced every hungry tungsten lightbulb with LEDs. Have I now averted the ‘climate emergency?? My father told me some 50+ years ago to “step lightly on the planet”. Did this make him an environmentalist? I don’t know and, what’s more, I don’t give a flying fig about such self-awarded titles.
What a load of bull. As for Johnson snr, he is, like his son, a completely useless prat. Glad I missed him on GBN.
Further to the letters about our energy shambles, Crolyn Bates has made her usual erudite posting in the BTL comments today. I’m sure many Nottlrs will find favour with her view:
Carolyn Bates
14 Oct 2021 1:30AM
In response to Malcolm Kirk of Argyll.
While the Johnson’s will be grandsatanding at COP26 the country will be facing energy prices never seen before and inevitable power cuts as more and more energy companies go to the wall.
While this is taking place, the CCP will be laughing as they continue to build coal-fuelled power stations as fast as they can and watch in disbelief as our little island with a tiny carbon footprint, is ravaged by the continued insistence of a rogue Conservative Prime Minister to ensure he hits his obscene target of net zero at all costs, while bankrupting the country.
There may be some in this country who have yet to understand what exactly it is that is going to rain down on us this coming winter. Energy prices will be so high many will be unable to heat their homes and with food shortages and crises everywhere we look, it will be the bleakest winter in a generation. The last winter of discontent will be nothing compared to it.
With tax hikes not seen in seventy-years, GPs still not prepared to work, an NHS crisis due to vaccine mandates, our motorways blocked daily, the French threatening to cut off our power supply, an EU determined to prolong Brexit any way they can, while using the people of Northern Ireland as pawns in their pathetic, beligerent game, and a Prime Minister who has not a clue how to even begin governing a country, we have never been in a similar situation in our history.
There are no grown-ups in charge any more; all are ‘yes-men’ to the incompetent leader and the Conservative grandees, for some reason beyond my comprehension, are looking the other way as our great country is destroyed by abject chaos and catastrophic consequences.
COP26 will be a complete joke, although none of our citizens will be laughing, just the rest of the world as they see the result of it play out, as people freeze in their homes, while sat atop of huge reserves of coal and shale gas. Insanity now rules here.
This is a pretty perceptive piece by Ms. Bates! She should be a Nottler!
Perhaps she is….{:¬))
Oooer! Morning Bill.
Doesn’t go far enough! The reason why they are looking the other way is almost certainly good old-fashioned corruption and loyalty to a bigger power than our small island.
You can’t even call it treason any more, when the Crown is in on it.
The Crown has been brainwashed.
Philip was in this back in the 60s. I think that while they don’t have a lot of intellect, they have the sort of low cunning that ensures their family will always stay on top. They are part of the international globalist elite, they aren’t British. When a bigger bully comes along, they know who to kowtow to.
Viva la República!
340003+ up ticks,
Morning HJ,
She should be nominated as a peoples reset leader for when the great awakening takes place , if ever.
She is certainly NOT from the master department.
Yo All
With regard to COP26, Net Zero, No Gas Supply, No Electricty supply, XR and Insulate Terrorists etc
Just remember the Chinese saying/curse
May you Live in Interesting Times
May you live in interesting times is an expression where the speaker ironically wishes an “interesting” time
to whomever he is speaking. In reality, he or she wishes the person to live during times of uncertainty and
disorder as opposed to peace and tranquility.
She’s right. The hot air conference of the great and the good jetting in from everywhere while the people of this country shiver will achieve nothing.
And now Billy Wales has publicly criticised Geoff Bozo and his rocketry obsession. In his position he is most unwise to do so. However, if he spouts similar nonsense at Con 26 then most who are daft enough to listen to this greenie jamboree will struggle to understand him because his public speaking voice is so awful…
H’mmm …. winter is coming and the power bills are getting fat.
Maybe Billy Boy needs to look up the word ‘tumbril’.
Viva la Republica!
Billy Boy is playing a very dangerous game.
When it gets colder and the ‘revised’ energy bills start dropping on hall mats, people will remember who can still afford to keep warm, have a hot bath and not festoon their kitchens with wet laundry.
Good evening. I agree. For now, Billy Wales is riding on the back of dissatisfaction (amongst other feelings) with the behaviour of his younger brother and the grasping ‘sell-your-granny for a fee’ sister-in-law. For now, he also seems to have more support than his hand-wringing, eco-loon father. Treading on thin ice.
None of them will ever have the respect that the Queen with her non-political ‘never explain, never complain’ ways.
HM was brought up through a world war. It tends to leave a deep impression.
Over 20,000 people arriving, many of them the armed bodyguards of the leaders of banana republics. I don’t think that figure includes the 10,000 police. There will be more guns in Glasgow than there were at El Alamein. I have a sense of foreboding.
20,000??? My goodness, it’s unbelievable. With all the ungrateful, rapeugees housed in Glasgow hotels, how many available hotel rooms are there? No wonder Glasgow has been advertising for locals willing to ‘host’ a delegate or 5 (bed bugs, filthy bathroom habits, unintelligible ‘guests’ and excessive use of expensive showering/heating facilities all part of the incentive)
Carolyn’s optimism meter is hard over zero and I’m with her.
If the worse than completely useless globalist agenda supporting Johnson survives beyond this Winter then the UK will very likely be done for with no hope of recovery possible under the globalists’ jackboot. Those in the HoC claiming Conservative ideals who do not stop this madness will be deemed complicit. We cannot expect any help from a Labour party under Starmer that is more concerned with navel gazing as they polish their ‘woke’ credentials.
Spectre of fascism and anti-Semitism stalks Italy as anger grows over ‘passports’ for the vaccinated. 14 October 2021.
“It seems to me incredible that in 2021, there are still fascist parties in Italy,” he said. “It seems like we’re going backwards, not forwards. There is a climate of tension right now. It feels like a critical moment.”
More than 75 years after the downfall of Benito Mussolini and the end of the Second World War, the spectres of fascism and anti-Semitism are again stalking Italy.
“For us, it’s not strange that there are still fascists in Italy,” said Fiorella Di Segni, 82, who is Jewish. “We are battle hardened. We know what could happen, even 80 years after the war. We’ve been in a state of war since the deportations of 1943.”
This is a propaganda and smear piece against the growing Italian resistance to the globalist tyranny that is forming. The usual stuff is trotted out, “far right” “anti-semitism” etc. though witness the bottom quote! The lady in question would have been five at a period when Italians went to enormous and dangerous lengths to protect their Jewish population. Only 8000 Jews out of a population of 50,000 were deported to the Death Camps and most of these after the split with Germany.

Presumably her parents were also Jewish so they went through the war. Just because this lady was a child at the time doesn’t mean she was unaware .
Thank you for the inspiration.
I’ve just posted this on Faceache:-

Good morning, Grizzly
I wonder if, given his name, this chap from Yelvertoft is sexually self-sufficient.
Good morning, Rastus.
Have you mislaid your reading specs this morning, old friend? Yelverton is in Norfolk (I know it well). The correspondent is from Yelvertoft in Northants (Garlands Country). 😊
Down Devon way there be one, too.
Ah! You mean in the place where they clownishly attempt to spread jam on top of cream?
So they say.
And there is a R.N. Airbase at Yeovilton in Somerset.
I amended my post a few minutes after seeing that I had written Yelverton instead of Yelvertoft.
That’s interesting as it shows that like me you do not often refresh your link and see unedited posts. I edit many of my posts because I frequently shudder at the clumsiness of my expression and have to amend what I have written.
I fear that I have never really mastered the word-processor – I used to write better when I used a fountain pen rather than a keyboard.
You are speaking to the converted. If I don’t go over my posts with a fine-tooth comb prior to posting, I end up with something that even I cannot understand!
I wish I’d never given up the use of a fountain pen (or dip pen, and I have a few of those for artistic purposes). I used to be very proficient at calligraphy, but my ordinary handwriting, these days, is more illegible than that of a GP writing a prescription.

No, they refer to them as SLF. So much easier to say and write.
aka ‘Stills’
I do too, but no doubt the permanently-offended will derive much pleasure in tearing him a new one.
‘Morning Grizz. A sense of humour is no longer permitted.
It seems the only comforting news today is to be found in the various video clips of the bonkers Insulate Britain eco-loons being towed out of the road by irate drivers. Strangely, there appears to be no trace of any superglue – have the police been conned into their elaborate release procedure??
Morning, Hugh. The mind boggles!
When I started work at Norwich Airport, the first piece of advice I was given was this: “You will soon discover that normal, decent, intelligent people all, somehow, seem to have left their brains at home the moment they enter an airport.”
In nearly eight years I never came across any evidence to the contrary.
I thought they were SOB (Souls On Board).
Good morning, my friends
Will he or won’t he?
My money would be on Johnson caving in. What are the odds currently being offered by Ladbrokes?
The only chance of the N I Protocol working was with good will – but there was never any chance of that.
Since the 2016 referendum the behaviour of the EU and our own quislings should have instructed Johnson that there was only ill will likely to come from an EU determined to destroy Brexit but also to regard any concession from Britain as a sign of weakness. Why did he pig-headedly refuse to see the clear evidence under his nose?
The EU has has made an insulting offer on the Protocol and wants to keep the EU courts and EU law in a part of Britain. Has Johnson been given permission by his current wife and self-appointed controller of the prime ministerial scrotum, to tell the EU that the N I Protocol must be scrapped in its entirety?
If Boris has let Frost get things sorted, then I think he will do so. Presumably BoJo has told him to get on with it. If he interferes and caves in then it won’t be done.
Good morning, Ndovu
Just before the deal was struck it looked clear that Frost was going to stand firm on both fishing and N Ireland. And then, literally a day before the deal was announced, Gove arrived in Brussels and Frost caved in – or was he compelled to cave in?
Will he give way again and if so will we ever learn what sinister blackmailing control the perfidious and evil Gove and the absurd Johnson have over him?
He was ordered to cave in and the peerage was his consolation prize.
Totally agree.
Lord Frost is the best argument against democracy which currently has landed us with the current bunch of no-hopers.
“My money would be on Johnson caving in.” Mine too. Shameful if so, as Lord Frost seems to have what it takes to take the fight to the enemy.
‘Morning, Rastus.

Ernest Saunders comes to mind. He never revealed his cure regime.
🙂 If I don’t disremember, he laid off the high dose Valium.
Did anybody see Dan Wootton’s interview with Antony Scaramucci on GB News last night?
Not only was the man incredibly boring but he was one of the most deluded Biden supporters I have ever seen on television:

By definition all Biden supporters are deluded.
My jaw dropped lower and lower as I listened to ‘The Mooch’s’ drivel.
The comments are good.

La Palma volcano eruption update: strongest-so-far quake hits at magnitude 4.4. Wed, 13 Oct 2021, 14:57
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/e8ad45cd98a15d21e64f95e959c4498b7475898cd59c8676c7563a98643c2d76.jpg
The strongest so far earthquake, at magnitude 4.4, hit the island this afternoon at 3.33 p.m. about 20 minutes ago. Its location was at approx. 36 km depth under the central part of Cumbre Vieja volcano.
It’s looking ominous! Mind you what isn’t?

Nearly as bad as one of those fracking tremors
Since I’m an advocate of fracking. The strongest earthquake associated with that practice has been a 3 on the Richter scale. Legend has it that fracking caused a 5.7 in Oklahoma. That accusation is by the anti-fracking brigade, needless to say. But even if it is true no one was hurt. Now contrast that with injuries deaths etc in other forms of producing power and consider that over one million fracking wells, yes that many, have been done. Fracking must be the safest form of energy production on earth. Even the wretched windmills have killed people. It is about time that our spineless leader, led by the nose by an environmental crank, grew a spine and got fracking.
Supposedly Cuadrilla didn’t have much sucess with their trial frackettes.
Cuadrilla were here where I live. Went to the public meeting and was about the only one that was pro them drilling at our location. The sad thing is that most people in the UK have no idea other than lies and propaganda about fracking. I thought the Cuadrilla people were far to passive toward the people in the public meeting. They almost behaved as though they were doing something disreputable as thought they were resigned to negativity. I was quite angry, not only for the lies but the wimp attitude of the company spokesmen who did nothing to enlighten people about the realities of fracking.
In California, there was actually a well at the back of my yard. Didn’t even realize that is what it is until someone told me. The pictures you see of these structures looking like giant electric pylons with trucks busying about are highly misleading. That is just the preliminaries, once done there is nothing to see, about as obtrusive as a telephone junction box that you see by the side of the road.
I read that if that Island happened to split in two and half of it ended up in the ocean it would cause a tsunami that would wipe out most of the east coast of the US.
Yes Eddy, and even stranger, no politician appears to be getting anything planned for that possibility.
I don’t understand why not.

‘Morning Annie.
Why do Yanks go for a crap in a ‘bathroom’? Don’t they have any bog-standard bogs, Stateside?
Strange people, the Yanks…
I thought it was called the ‘John’ and to prove it I knew a guy named John and he was a shithouse
‘Morning, George, we also have many euphemisms (including bog) and even the stock ‘lavatory’ comes from the Latin concerned with washing.
I love the way words change their meaning over time. Toilet started out as a bag for clothes, then a fine cloth cover on the dressing table and for the articles spread upon it; then the act of dressing – doing ones toilet – then the dressing room itself (usually with a lavatory), then the present sense. An interesting aside: Toilet paper is attested from 1884 (the Middle English equivalent was arse-wisp).
Don’t forget the Irish invented the toilet seat – but the English put a hole in it

Sunny day here , and the holly berries are deepening in colour
Have you ever heard anything like this in all your life ?
The owner of the Drax power plant in North Yorkshire is expected to move ahead with a $652m deal to double its production of wood pellets after its shareholders voted 99.9% in favour of buying a Canadian biomass company.
The deal will accelerate Drax Group’s plans to become a leading biomass electricity generator by substituting wood pellets in place of coal at its power plant – despite warnings from scientists, green campaigners and sustainable investors that burning wood pellets could accelerate the climate crisis.
More than 20 environmental organisations, including the sustainable investment group Share Action, wrote an open letter to Drax shareholders in March urging them to vote against the deal. The letter warned that burning more imported wood pellets could accelerate the climate crisis, and increase the company’s contribution to biodiversity loss and the potential for violations of Indigenous people’s land rights.
The groups added their voice to growing concerns over biomass power plants. Drax claims that burning wood pellets is “carbon neutral” because the emissions released by wood pellet combustion in a power plant are offset by the emissions that trees absorb while they grow. The claim is disputed by many environmental scientists and campaigners.
The latest warning to Drax shareholders followed a seperate open letter, signed by more than a dozen green groups including Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth, which warned government ministers against relying too heavily on plans to capture carbon emissions from biomass plants to create “negative emissions”.
Drax claims that its plans to capture the carbon emissions from burning biomass have been proven at its North Yorkshire site to be “the most cost-effective negative emissions technology available now”.
The green groups refute this claim, and have warned that the “costly” plans would fail to deliver “negative emissions” after accounting for the full carbon footprint of biomass in the power sector. It would also put enormous pressure on forests and pose serious risks to land use, agriculture and biodiversity in the UK and abroad, according to the letter.
https://www.theguardian.com/business/2021/mar/31/drax-to-double-wood-pellet-production-with-biomass-firm-purchase
No matter what the argument is , the UK is importing bio fuel from across the Atlantic when we still have adequate coal supplies !
It’s all self-harming nonsense.
If they take it to the extreme perhaps they’ll self immolate. Then they’ll have to offset the resulting CO₂ emissions.
This argument is a distraction and assumes that the human generated global warming is a fact. It is not.
It’s a lose lose situation. As you say, Belle, we should be using homegrown coal.
The UK construction industry needs more imports of OSB (sterling board), as coal board isn’t suitable.
I feel like a Florentine citizen in 1497 watching the neighbours chuck her new 3 piece suite onto a nearby bonfire.
I assume I live in a lunatic asylum and can only hunker down and hope it blows over before I pop my clogs.

Just posted a proper link Grizzly. Another Muslim.
No one — ever — who claims to be a “Muslim convert” or who has been “radicalised”, was someone who has ever been of sound mind prior to their conversion or “radicalisation”. For anyone to even think, for just a second, that becoming a Muslim is an intelligent move, must be clear evidence that they are surely in desperate need of being sectioned and locked away for their own safety.
1,500,000,000 people would require one heck of a large jail.
I’m not talking about the general muzzie population of the world, Tim; only nuclear warfare (or systematic poisoning) will wipe those out.
I meant just those once-‘normal’ British citizens who, for reasons best known to their atrophied minds, convert.
My cousin’s daughter married a man whose mother was an English convert – she married a Muslim. She wouldn’t shake hands with any man at the wedding, who was not her husband. She wore a hijab and a trouser suit. They were at the Church service, but not the reception, as there would be alcohol present. I don’t know what they thought of their two daughters in low-cut bridesmaid dresses.
Bu88er their safety. What about the safety of the rest of us?
Robin Hood was a Muzzie…!
Muslim convert had been flagged as radicalised before bow rampage in Norway: Danish attacker killed four women and a man aged 50 – over an hour AFTER he escaped police attempt to arrest him for shooting arrows

If Robin Hood was a Muzzie; Richard Cœur-de-lion is complicit in this. He should never have recruited the outlaw for the Crusades.
And I think this peaceful Methodist used a crossbow.
How very unBritish.

DM indicating “far right” suspect.
Muslim terrorists are now “far right”? I suppose it makes sense, a little dishonesty so as to pretend that there really are such things as far right terrorists is obviously in order since there aren’t such things in real life.
The version I read was the older one, before they came out with the “Muslim convert” bit – but they still have the box likening this attack to Breivik.
The more far right threats that there are, the more the authorities can boot ordinary citizens around.
A good point Horace. Rather like pretending that parents are “domestic terrorists” on the part of the Biden administration in the USA.

Letter to The Canadian Army
A Canadian female libertarian wrote a lot of letters to the Canadian government, complaining about the treatment of captive insurgents (terrorists) being held in Afghanistan National Correctional System facilities. She demanded a response to her letters.
She received back the following reply:
National Defense Headquarters
Major Gen George R. Pearkes Bldg., 15 NT,
101 Colonel Bay Drive
Ottawa, ON K1A 0K2
Canada
Dear Concerned Citizen,
Thank you for your recent letter expressing your profound concern of treatment of the Taliban and Al Qaeda terrorists captured by Canadian Forces who were subsequently transferred to the Afghanistan Government and are currently being held by Afghan officials in Afghanistan National Correctional System facilities.
Our administration takes these matters seriously and your opinions were heard loud and clear here in Ottawa. You will be pleased to learn, thanks to the concerns of citizens like yourself, we are creating a new department here at the Department of National Defense, to be called ‘Liberals Accept Responsibility for Killers’ program, or L.A.R.K. for short.
In accordance with the guidelines of this new program, we have decided to divert one terrorist and place him in your personal care.
Your personal detainee has been selected and is scheduled for transportation under heavily armed guard to your residence in Toronto next Monday.
Ali Mohammed Ahmed bin Mahmud (you can just call him Ahmed) is to be cared for pursuant to the standards you personally demanded in your letter of complaint!
It will likely be necessary for you to hire some assistant caretakers. We will conduct weekly inspections to ensure that your standards of care for Ahmed are commensurate with those you so strongly recommended in your letter.
Although Ahmed is a sociopath and extremely violent, we hope that your sensitivity to what you described as his ‘attitudinal problem’ will help him overcome these character flaws.
Perhaps you are correct in describing these problems as mere cultural differences.
We understand that you plan to offer counselling and home schooling. Your adopted terrorist is extremely proficient in hand-to-hand combat and can extinguish human life with such simple items as a pencil or nail clippers. We advise that you do not ask him to demonstrate these skills at your next yoga group. Please advise any Jewish friends, neighbours or relatives about your house guest, as he might get agitated or even violent, but we are sure you can reason with him. He is also expert at making a wide variety of explosive devices from common household products, so you may wish to keep those items locked up, unless (in your opinion) this might offend him.
Ahmed will not wish to interact with you or your daughters (except sexually) since he views females as a subhuman form of property thereby having no rights, including refusal of his sexual demands. This is a particularly sensitive subject for him and he has been known to show violent tendencies around women who fail to comply with the new dress code that he will “recommend” as more appropriate attire.
I’m sure you will come to enjoy the anonymity offered by the burka over time. Just remember that it is all part of ‘respecting his culture and religious beliefs’ as described in your letter.
Thanks again for your concern.
We truly appreciate it when folks like you keep us informed of the proper way to do our job and care for our fellow man.
You take good care of Ahmed and remember we’ll be watching.
Good luck and God bless you.
Cordially,
Gordon O’Connor
Minister of National Defense

The rampant misuse of apostrophes has consequences.
Where, if I may ask, Dear Reader, do you stand on apostrophe’s? Sorry, sorry! I swear I won’t do it again. Just seeing it on the page gives me a visceral feeling of fingernails-down-ablackboard horror. Not funny. Sorry again.
I only did it to make a point, namely that grammar really matters. Those who care about it, do so deeply. Those who don’t used to be in the ascendancy – but no longer, thanks to a court case in Australia where a costly civil trial pivots on an apostrophe. How fabulous is that? I couldn’t be more cock-a-hoop if Lynne Truss herself came to tea – even if she eats, shoots and leaves.
Interestingly, the nub of the issue is an apostrophe causing mayhem in absentia. To whit; an estate agent posted remarks on Facebook about his former employer. These included a reference to the expensive properties on the firm’s books, followed by the qualifier “but can’t pay his employees superannuation. Shame on you Stuart!!!”
The estate agent claims he meant to write “pay his employee’s superannuation”. This cut no ice with his former employer, who felt the implication was that he had failed to pay “his employees’ superannuation” and wants to sue for defamation. The judge agreed there was a case to answer, saying: “To fail to pay one employee’s superannuation entitlement might be seen as unfortunate; to fail to pay some or all of them looks deliberate.”
Frankly, I’d sentence him to life for all those exclamation marks, but the salutary plight of the Apostrophe One is the ultimate endorsement of traditional education with its nitpicking emphasis on correct practice. After years of sloppy indifference towards punctuation et al, a new primary grammar curriculum was introduced in England in 2014 – whereupon parents like me raised a cheer. Catholic guilt gets a bad rap, but to their credit, back in my day the Irish nuns (holy) waterboarded us with concepts including subjunctives, the gerund and never using a preposition to end a sentence with.
Once the fundamentals are mastered the truth is that there’s great delight to be had in language. Its structural rules are no more onerous and every bit as sensible as those laid down for cricket, Monopoly or flying a plane. Quite simply, syntax is the scaffolding that enables others to understand what we mean and thus makes language accessible and universal.
As for those stereotypes about “grammar Nazis”, frankly it ill behoves the wilfully illiterate to equate entirely justified attention to detail with authoritarianism. Last time I checked, Fowler’s Modern English Usage bore vanishingly little resemblance to Mein Kampf, not least because the latter was riddled with grammatical errors.
Language, of course, evolves. Why, I have learned to joyfully embrace the split infinitive. I can even find it in my heart to forgive (or at least not judge) those untroubled by – which is to say blissfully unaware of – the who-whom pitfall and I-me conundrum. But having said that, the Oxford comma makes me cross and as for the egregious apostrophisation of plurals – if it sets off what Truss called “a Pavlovian ‘kill’ response” for you, then rest assured, I share your linguistic anguish.
All journalists relish a clever play on words but apostrophe apostasy is nothing but a crime against clarity.
You have, generally, echoed my thoughts, Woods. On the subject of the so-called “Oxford Comma”, though, I do not use it as a rule, but there are times — e.g. in a list — when its use occasionally becomes necessary to avoid ambiguity.
As for apostrophe’s [sic], I once worked alongside a chap who peppered his text arbitrarily and incongruously with the damn things. He would write: “Am I allowe’d to pas’s though the kitchen unhindere’d?” AAAAAAGGGGHHHH!
W’e mus’t t’ry harde’r
Those are just superfluous, Johnny! Apostrophes generally denote either a possessive or a missing letter. Yours did neither.
John was being ironic.
So was I.
Your irony was much harder to detect.
One doesn’t like to be too obvious.
I am very pleased about that’

Thanks, Tom.
Only this morning I took a Yank to task (on YouTube) over their routine use of the vacuous expressions ‘one time’ and ‘two times’.
“Why do Americans say ‘one time’ and ‘two times’ when the standard English words ‘once’ and ‘twice’ do the job much better?”
I’ll not hold my breath in anticipation of a sensible response that will be easily assimilated.
…and the current favourite ‘times’ as in 2 times 2.
What is wrong with ‘multiplied by’? Oh, yes, two words and one’s a big ‘un; beyond woke understanding.
As a child I learned my times tables.
Agreed, Connors, as did we all – at that childish age ,as our teachers realised that multiplication was too big a word for small children to understand, but ‘times’ is still being used with much older children and, indeed adults.
It’s the name of the game, Tom.

I had no idea that Muslim archers used the training manual they used at Agincourt.
crossbow apparently, not longbow.
Very cross, I expect.
Quivering with rage, no doubt.
Photos show arrows, not crossbow bolts.
Who says muslims cannot modernise, eh?
The Quran probably highlights Bows (cross or otherwise) as weapons of choice against the Infidel.
Well there’s a surprise…

Ex Anglican Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali converts to Catholicism
14 October 2021, 9:12am
Michael Nazir-Ali, the former Bishop of Rochester and one of the best-known Anglican clerics, could be ordained as a Catholic priest as early as next month.
The conversion of such a high-profile intellectual would be an enormous boost for the Catholic Ordinariate, set up by Pope Benedict XVI to receive Anglicans into the Roman church. Friends of Nazir-Ali say that he has already converted and is now a member of the Ordinariate which over the years has seen several Anglican clergy, many of them married, serve as Catholic priests. Its services are distinctively Anglican in style and include passages from the Book of Common Prayer.
Pakistan-born Nazir-Ali, 72, was Bishop of Rochester from 1994 until 2009, when he resigned his post to set up a centre in Oxford dedicated to promoting orthodox evangelism and dialogue with other faiths.
A dual citizen of Britain and Pakistan, he was the Anglican Communion’s leading authority on Islam and an expert on the intricacies of Sharia and Islamic banking. He has been trenchantly critical of the British establishment’s appeasement of Muslim fundamentalists and is profoundly out of sympathy with the entrenched bureaucratic mindset of the leadership of the Church of England.
Reports suggest that, at the end of this month, Nazir-Ali will be ordained a Catholic priest by Cardinal Vincent Nichols. Significantly, the ceremony is scheduled to take place in the Ordinariate’s church in Warwick Street, Soho, rather than in Westminster Cathedral.
Because he is married, Nazir-Ali cannot be ordained a Catholic bishop – although, before the Ordinariate was set up, Pope Benedict seriously considered allowing him to become one. Nazir-Ali is a fervent admirer of the Pope Emeritus. Although identified with the evangelical wing of the Church of England, he has always been well disposed to Roman Catholicism, having been educated by Catholics as a child in Karachi.
His is the most significant conversion to Catholicism since Graham Leonard, former Bishop of London, was received into the Church by Cardinal Basil Hume in 1994. Arguably, it carries even more weight, since Nazir-Ali has written influentially about bioethics, Islam, the philosophy of religion and family policy.
His defence of Christian civilisation has been far more outspoken than that of any English Catholic bishop. He is strongly opposed to abortion and euthanasia, holds conservative views on sexual morality and blames the ‘new-fangled and insecurely founded doctrine of multiculturalism’ for allowing some Islamic communities in Britain to turn into ‘no-go areas’.
His conversion will be welcomed by conservative Catholics dismayed by the doctrinal confusion surrounding the ‘synodal path’ endorsed by Pope Francis, which appears to be moving the Church in the direction of liberal Anglicanism.
It will also make it more difficult for the Bishops of England and Wales to marginalise the Ordinariate, which they are attempting to control despite Pope Benedict’s wish that it should be entirely independent of them.

The most tragic mistake on the part of the Anglican Church was not to make him Archbishop of Canterbury. If he was the Church would not be in the state it is now. It would, I strongly believe, be a rallying point for all Christians in the UK and in the wider Anglican communion. I almost got to work for him when he was at Rochester but his term ran out. About the only Anglican prelate I genuinely respect. He was, of course, side lined for telling the truth about Islam. I think I mentioned that he was not, last time I looked at the list, even counted as a Bishop of the Anglican Church, he had been deliberately excluded by the ignorant hierarchy that exists and which, I doubt, is even Christian in its sentiments.
Welby is Unchristian. What kind of leadership has he provided over the last few years?
Went on sabbatical at the high point of the pandemic when his flock needed him most. He is in no respect a Christian.
Unchristian? Anti-Christian you mean.

Multiculturalism can never work. What does work – and work really well – is having folk from different nations come here, work and integrate and share their cultures but not continue them to our detriment.
I have been tempted by the Ordinariat. I am biding my time to see who is appointed to fill the current vacancy in the church I attend. Hopefully it won’t be a woke vicarette.

‘Harry’s on the chopping block next’: Meghan’s estranged half-brother claims Sussexes’s marriage is doomed because Duchess’s first husband only lasted two years

(Warning: this article is only worth reading if you have time on your hands and nothing better to do!)
This BTL comment sums things up:
I do feel sorry for Meghan. She married Harry for his money and his social rank but she is now lumbered with an incredibly dull, boring and stupid man. I would not blame her if she decided to move on to escape the sheer tedium of his company.
Morning Richard, morning all. I wouldn’t go as far as a saying Harry is stupid or boring, he’s certainly done a lot more to assist humanity than a now twice married bit part actor such as she was. I said this before they were hitched, seemingly for the second time at Windsor. She’s only in it for what she can get out of it. So many ‘royal marriages’ have ended up this way. And I think he has made a very serious error in his choice.
Absolutely agree, Eddy! Whilst I don’t feel much sympathy for Harry, as I expect he was well warned about the rather obvious tarty and trollopy old hag, but he at least had done some good work with the Invictus games and his general ‘good blokery’! Her? Well, a Z list tv actress with porn associations, really not a good look!
It reminds me of the Mrs Merton quote aimed at Paul Daniel’s wife Debbie Magee ………….what first attracted you to multi millionaire Paul Daniels ?
They had a good chuckle over that line. He wasn’t a millionaire at the time, but Caroline Aherne was.
And now they’re both dead.
Aren’t you a little ray of sunshine… :@(
Time for Harry to ‘man up’ and take control of his bossy wife.
She may show him some respect ……….
I don’t think he’s got it in him Plum and he’s burnt so many bridges now. She’s trapped him.
Yeah Eddy, two sprogs and counting…..
Have you taken your contraceptive pill today Meg ?
Oh how dare you ask Harry of course I have.
Would it be Megexit or Gingexit?
If he’s in line to be king, Rexit.
Heaven forfend!
I’ve found that most people can be classified according to their Give-Take ratio. My sister (coping with an Alzheimer’s husband and zero help from her two children), I rate a 90:10; I rate my late mother as more of a 15:85. I fancy that Meghan is an “outlier”, a 1 : 99.
Narcissists cannot cope with stagnation. As soon as Harry starts to ask for affection in return, for actual fulfilment, Megan will scarper.
For the moment, he’s feeding the beast. When the lights go out and the media walk off she will too.

Watched a report on this on Fox USA, this morning. Not a mention of the UK or Brexit.
Who are the ones saying in the USA that: “The turmoil in America is linked directly to disruption in Britain which critics here are keen to blame on our departure from the European Union.”? Because the problem is caused elsewhere and has little to do with the UK save in the sense that we are in the same boat as everyone else. Even India is having supply problems. The Indians, incidentally, blame the problems on China.
“In the three months to June 2019, America’s consumers bought goods worth a total of $4.5 trillion, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. In the same period of this year households spent more than $5.5 trillion, a jump of almost one-quarter..”
…and it’s all boosting China rather than home-grown industry, which is what the (evil) Trump was aiming to, “Make America Great Again.”
Those ships are biden their time before docking….
The truth is irrelevant. The Left want to blame Brexit. Reality doesn’t come into it.

Homophobic hate crimes reach ‘alarming’ 10-year high in London. 14 October 2021.

Just had a gander.
Honk Honk.
The shortage of lorry-drivers in the UK is not a recent phenomenon or “due to Brexit”, as the news media would have you believe. It was going on for some time before Brexit had been finalised. Here is a video from two-and-a-quarter years ago, when the shortage of drivers had been apparent for some time.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hSake-OUXU&list=WL&index=39
Well, some 6 million EU citizens applied to stay on in the UK after Brexit. Those who did not were apparently all the farm workers, all the hospitality workers and all the lorry drivers. Or, I suppose that it is possible that we are being told a pack of lies?
I think your last sentence is correct. The last time i was in Côte, about 3 weeks ago, all the old familiar EU faces were there on the staff.
Also the ‘just in time’ stock control system where firms closed their local stock storage warehouses, closed their inhouse stock reserves and converted to showrooms and relied on direct deliveries from suppliers “just in time” We knew years ago it would fail in the end as any small hold up in the system would cause havoc. It has all come true.
Just in Time (JIT) can work, Johnny so long as you identify a stable supply chain – I’ve had years of teaching this – similarly holding ‘Safety Stock’ can play pop with your cashflow unless it’s a) on the right products (flakey supply) and b) not set too high.
This JIT is the worst kind of contraception
It was bound to fail. Stock rooms and warehouses gave you your safety net . Remove them and you lose that safety. They removed them rather than reduce them. I knew it would catch them out and it has. A supply chain to the far east would never be stable. lazy retailing.
Reads carefully what I said, Johnny, a stable supply chain
I have worked both in Europe and in the Far East (Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan) to name a few and sometimes, in order to maintain that stability, you have a second source.
Your safety stock is kept in house and is constantly monitored in order to enable you to ship that 20% of products that give you 80% of your income (Pareto).
There is no such thing as a stable supply chain that belief has caused all this trouble. It like a truck that never breaks down there is no such thing. I have worked in retail and international logististics at both the sharp end and top management. You need to hold stock nearer to home to be sure.
Which is my point, apropos Safety Stock.
Trouble is they only did the one part of it, the wrong part.I had the finest logisics training in the world from my late father who was in what is now called the Royal Logistics Corps. He was highly regarded in WW2 on his work on replenishment from D Day on. it did not include just in time more like all there when needed. He explaind to me how it all worked, and keeping the accountants away.If they had done what they were ordered to do it would have been a disaster. I have many books on it all that were written at the time by those that were there. Those were my text books.
It was always going to be difficult but when warehousing costs so much and demand is so high, why not move to a JIT model? It’s efficiency at all costs.
Perhaps a different question to ask is why this approach came about.
Lazy retailing. Quick fix. I knew it would fail as people learn nothing. You cannot rely on JIT from the far east and the like. More wars were lost by poor logistics than anything else. Works on paper fails in the real world.

Heck, the rise of Sauron would be great. They’ve got to stop trying to pretend he was a black trans woman.
A misleading story but interesting anyway. No way is a fusion reactor going to be ready by 2040. But we can always hope. Certainly would solve our energy problems and get rid of the ghastly windmills.

Not commonly heard of around here, but Ling Long 1 is a small nuclear reactor the size of a trucking container.

Simples !!
Yet our Government is talking airily nuclear power in 2040.
Is this a smokescreen…at least until Cop26 finishes with a standing ovation for Carrie and Boris.
‘Afternoon, Janet, Rolls-Royce has had such a small nuclear reactor power supply for several years, that could furnish the needs of a small town or a large village. Government doesn’t want to know. Hell-bent on the destruction of society.
That doesn’t surprise me. After all what’s the size of the reactor on a sub? It’s obvious you can make small ones for use.
And what happened to Thorium reactors?
Does anyone happen to know if Strongbow had been jabbed, ditto his alleged victims?
The creation of lots of scare stories – butressed by a little malign action – is a classic way to defocus attention on the main event – the global crime that is under way and putting billions into the pockets of criminal parasites, while pursuing a truly murderous eugenics agenda.
And of course a major profit centre, promoted by the very people who rebranded the flu, is the climate scare. As the gullible and the greedy gather in Glasgow I don’t suppose the events of the weather around the world just now will get a moment of attention:

“She should stand down.”
Shadow international trade secretary Emily Thornberry says Claudia Webbe should resign as the MP for Leicester East after she was found found guilty of harassment.
She should not be given the opportunity or the choice! She should, immediately, be sacked and her salary, expenses and pension revoked. She’s effluent who must be removed by her masters – us.
So should Thornberry, but that’s because she’s a hypocritical bigot.
The idea that someone so utterly disgusting should be ever given the choice whether to or not is absurd. She is servant, not master.
What have we come to when the likes of Emily Thornberry is the upholder of standards in the Labour Party?
I say people, this supply line shortage problem (thanks to Brexit I’m told) affecting the whole of the UK is getting rather serious.
Mrs VVOF decided on a delivery this week from our local supermarket. Ordered 54 items and had 52 turned up with another 2 substitutions which were perfectly acceptable.
I am expecting the Daily Fail cub reporter to visit at any moment to write another article full of doom and gloom. As Private Frazier would say we are doomed, doomed I tell ye, unless of course we have some Private Walker’s in the country that the MSM is not telling us about.
Off for a walk down town, will keep an eye out for further supposed shortages.

Oi’d have thought that that bein’ in Naarfolk, he’d have had an advert for shaar’s in the bathroom’s [sic].
“Shaars” — Naafolk dialect for “showers”.
Sorry, Jarge, a very poor fist at a Norfolk accent.
You be roight, bor. Oi’ll check on me mooble fun.
Oi fell off the ruff an’ landed in the bunyard!
‘Bunyard’ was a favourite of a good ol’ Naarflk boy at Norwich Airport. he meant the ‘bone-yard’, his name for the cemetery.
You may only claim true Norfolk Ancestry if you can answer the following question:
Ha ya faather gotta dicker, bor?
Yis, an’ he want a fule ter roid ‘im, will yew cum?
So you are a Norfolk boy despite all the Northern bluster.
As the proprietor of the excellent butcher’s shop on Plumstead Road, Norwich asked, when I first arrived in Norfolk: “Where you be from, bor?”
When I told him that I’d just moved from the North, he replied: “Ah. You be livin’ ‘ere for another twenty-foive years, an’ you’ll be one o’ us!”
My paternal grandmother lived in Great Walsingham from the age of 8 until she married back in Yorkshire in her early 20s. With that, I do feel a claim to some Norfolk blood.
I argued, many years ago (both on the forum and the old DT letters page), for the expansion of an efficient railway system in the UK for the carriage of goods. I reasoned that a goods train can carry more than 50 times the capacity of one lorry and it doesn’t cause blockages and mayhem on the roads, motorways and streets of towns and cities.
My theory was that every town and city should have a fully-staffed goods marshalling yard where the goods could be dropped off and then picked up for local delivery by small vans and lorries. This was the system that used to operate very efficiently before the advent of the motorway and the aftermath of the Beeching Report. The short-sightedness of the time, coupled with the efforts of a corrupt Minister for Transport (Ernest Marples) who put his own vested interests before the country’s needs in promoting motorways over rail, are why we are in dire straits today.
Most of my reasoning was shot down on these fora by those who championed hundreds of thousands of lorries blocking up roads everywhere to be a “more efficient” mode of goods transportation. I have never wavered from my thoughts on the situation and, as is shown by current events worldwide, I wasn’t wrong.
For too long we have had the wrong sort of people running the show. Until we get someone with brains (“where from?” I hear you say) to sort this mess of a country out, and very soon, anarchy and chaos will continue to deteriorate until everyday life, as we once knew it, will be but a distant memory.
“Where from?” Not from Sweden, that’s for sure…{:¬))
Oh! Ouch!, Billy. That’s another rib I’ve bust!
Nope, you were spot on. There was a system called Freightliner. I sent goods to the Edinburgh terminal and a man there had a business in which he stuffed containers on a “groupage” basis. The container went overnight to London and was emptied and various couriers delivered the goods that morning.
this could have been extended to any town or village with a railway line. Instead it was discontinued.
Canada and the US have similar issues with an overabundance of road transport where it seems logical to switch to rail, the distances involved only make the point clearer.
Riding on a Greyhound bus, back in 1980, through the Mojave Desert, I saw a two-mile long freight train being pulled by no fewer than eleven close-coupled diesel engines. It was travelling at around five-miles-per-hour, but not causing any road blocks.
When those things go by you may as well take a nap. The length is really impressive. The Mojave, I always wanted to retire there, my favourite place in the USA. Nevada being second choice. I do not approve of greenery cluttering the landscape 😊 Although I do love flora. In the spring the Mojave is the most spectacular place on earth, excluding the fynboss of South Africa.

When I went there I was a serving UK police officer and, since my surname is Barstow, I visited the city bearing my name. I visited the police precinct and was immediately elevated to special guest status. I was given a tour of the city in a patrol car, taken to the nearby sheriff’s department where they shut me inside an “attitude adjustment module” (a small padded cell where prisoners with an attitude had it “adjusted”. Oh for some of those in Europe!). After having coffee with the commanding lieutenant, I was given a police motorcycle patrol helmet, which still sits on my bookshelves; a couple of woven uniform arm badges (apparently the most sought-after in the USA due to its colouring and desert features; and a handful of enamel brooch badges bearing the city police’s name.
When I returned home, I ‘sourced’ a Derbyshire Constabulary helmet and posted it to the officer who gave me his patrol helmet. He was hugely delighted. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/8ed1463fc79c944daa14db64726f44466a6a2ece2c44ea3df3a4ac007be4ceb6.jpg https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/cff3a548684ebd8167230dec07ed9577404b63d50dd2dfc56b4965856c906deb.jpg
That is really cool and just demonstrates the generosity of Americans, you can’t fault them on that. Never been to Barstow, at least I don’t think I have. If you live in California it’s one of those places you don’t go to unless you have a reason. But what a great reception for you. Evidently it was well worth visiting.
Did you ever go to Berkeley where I used to live?
No. I only made one trip to California and, apart from my trip out to Barstow, I remained in the downtown LA area visiting Santa Monica, Hollywood and Long Beach (you know, the tourist run) and not much else.
Pity. Northern California is another country quite unlike the South. They really should be different states. But I prefer the South. There are no conservatives in the North. Orange Country would have suited me.
“sourced” as in purloined, George? 🙂
My use of the word was purely designed to ‘go fishing’, John, and I got a bite (at last). On my return home I made numerous enquiries about how I may purchase a helmet but, everywhere I asked, I was turned down with weasel words such as “We cannot permit that.” I think they were afraid that it might get into the wrong hands. My pleas eventually fell on the ears of the young woman in charge of uniform stores at my local station. She contacted me and told me that she had a helmet, brand new but ‘unserviceable’. It was actually of a size far too small for any human adult’s head, let alone a copper’s.
She wrapped it up and handed it to me. Her alternative was to send it back for “confidential salvage” i.e. destruction. I packed it well in a box and posted it to California. I can only imagine the laughter among the police staff at the precinct as they all attempted to wear the tiny thing. I’m guessing that the recipient’s children would have had much fun wearing it.
I suppose that most of the train lines that Beeching closed are now inoperable and would cost a tremendous amount to revive. But for the ones that are still usable, I have a brilliant idea. Why not stick windmills on the trains and have then operate that way. We could also stick solar panels on the tops of the cars. Isn’t that brilliant? At night, moonbeams and fairy dust.
Alternatively ditch the ridiculous HS2 and spend the money on reviving the railways.
I remember Labour won the general election with the promise to halt all the Beeching cuse. They won and never did.Why you could never vote for Labour again.
Never voted Labour and in the USA, never voted Democrat. Socialists by default are liars. Or rather I should say worse liars than other politicians.
Why pick on Labour? I’ll never vote for politicians again.
In a much smaller way many businesses do that with click and collect for consumers.
Unions, buses cars and children.
Goods yards went with Beeching. I’m grateful that the North Downs line escaped his axe, since I now live three minutes’ walk from Wanborough Station. I can get to Guildford in seven minutes, and Farnham in fifteen. But all the stations in between show signs of long-extinguished goods yards which have long since been re-purposed.
And deleted lines.
Beeching severely damaged the railway network. The station I referred to earlier was a Beeching casualty.
Land is too expensive now to open all those freight yards again. They prefer paying Filipino lorry drivers 25p an hour.
A Grade II listed railway station is about to be turned into flats and about 50 houses built on what was, presumably, the coal yard or marshalling yard adjacent. A better use, in my view, would be to restore the rail link to Welshpool and get it used as a station again.

You tube is becoming absurd. It now even censors innocuous words to such an extend that certain videos become almost unintelligible. But, at the same time, they are happy to show people being shot. You Tube is owned by Google, if people aren’t aware which is at the nexus of evil, along with Twitter and Facebook.
I was watching Steven Crowder a couple of days ago and he was explaining that the You Tube search engine no longer functions as such. If you type something in, even if you are quite specific, it will only return things to you that its algorithms think you should watch, not what you want. So I did an experiment. I know that many of the videos about the fraud of the US election in which Biden supposedly beat Trump still exist. I have the links to them. But give the title of any of them in the You Tube search and it will say that the video doesn’t exist.
I use lots of unconnected words to mess up their seaweed rhythms.

Copied to send to my sons….
By Isabel van Brugen of Epoch Times,
The head of the Chicago police officers union on Tuesday called on its members to refuse to comply with the city’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate, which is set to take effect on Friday.
“Do not fill out the portal information,” Chicago Fraternal Order of Police President John Catanzara said in a video to officers posted on YouTube.
“I’ve made my status very clear as far as the vaccine, but I do not believe the city has the authority to mandate that to anybody—let alone that information about your medical history.”
According to Catanzara, the police union is preparing a lawsuit against the city if Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s administration attempts to enforce the mandate, which requires city workers to report their vaccine status by Friday or be placed on a “no-pay” status.
“It’s safe to say that the city of Chicago will have a police force at 50 percent or less for this weekend coming up,” Catanzara said.
Well done to that police union, doing its job and actually standing up for its members.

Number of babies born to foreign mothers hit record high last year with 75% of births in parts of England among women from outside UK – as data shows total number of births fell 4% to two-decade low
More than three quarters of babies born in part of England and Wales were to foreign mothers, ONS revealed
Some 613,936 babies were born in 2020 – a 4.1 per cent drop on 2019 and the lowest figure since 2002
And the total fertility rate – the average number of children each woman has – reached a record-low
Nearly a third of babies were birthed by women born outside the UK – the highest since records began
The figures do not yet show the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, which won’t be visible until 2021

One of our now banned correspondents described talk of race replacement as ‘racist’…

Glad you asked, Rastus! I’m dying to know!

Yo, Sue. I’ve just trawled through three pages of banned users, all of whom were foul spammers. So I’ve no idea…
Drat…and double drat! I do like a bit of gossip…
Last person I remember being banned was peddy, now back as Peter Anderson.
#Itsnotmeee.
I could guess….
Simply banned? If I were to speak my mind in public I would be arrested & charged.
Me too. Which might be problematic for the site…

Hmmm… Not recently banned, presumably? I give up. Email a clue, please?
C’mon, everybody! It’s easy!
Hint…hint…
And it’s at our expense. As the vast majority of immigrant families are on welfare.
Even the ones that don’t live in the UK but fly in to make a claim.
It just feels wrong that a Muslim immigrant family arrive here, immediately sit on welfare or the black eoconomy and then simply breed, with family sizes of 6 or 7. All on welfare. Getting a bigger house for nothing.
They are, quite simply, outbreeding us. We have fewer children because we can’t afford. We’re too busy being forced to pay for them. That ignores the cost of multilingual nonsense as well.
Apparently a woman was annoyed at being asked to speak English… in England. If you don’t like it, feck off. Show some damned respect. Hell’s teeth, when I pootled about, even for only a couple of weeks per country I made an effort to learn the simpler phrases, yes, no, please, thank you. It’s basic respect. Want to gabble in foreign? Go back to foreign.
Simple solution – no benefits for those who haven’t contributed – and that includes our indigenous lazy shïtes.
They want to live in England that the English have worked, built and paid taxes for – they just do NOT want the English people – but DO want our money. Once WE are wiped out – – BIG problems.
Same elsewhere – S America wants to move into N America – – whiteyworld. Africa wants to move into Europe – whiteyworld. Asia – into Europe and Australia – – into whiteyworld.
Why always into whiteyworld ?? – – why not build their own countries up ?? idleness or stupidity ?
Both!
– S America wants to move into N America –
Not entirely true; some S. American countries are doing very well. Most Chileans despise the Yanks – no queremos los malditos djankies!
Just the ones that have been ruined by communism – like Venezuela.
Apologies for not listing each individual country.
As Of 2020 These Are The Richest Countries In South America
https://www.thetravel.com/richest-countries-south-america/
The sad thing is that if it were not for the Communist regime the top place would probably go to Venezuela.
Six or seven children per wife, wibbles. Bigamy is illegal, but multiple wives in islam is condoned (and they pick up benefits).
It IS race replacement – – WE are being taxed so illegal immigrants can come here, do nothing – – PAY nothing – and replace us.
And when we are replaced what then? Who will pay the politicians?
Gates & Co, just as they are now
By then, this country will be a basket case. So it will be reliant on foreign aid.
“Dem poor old Brits, dey be having a famine, please donate any spare coconuts and casava to Prince Omdelobber, Lagos. Tank you.”
By then, this country will be a basket case. So it will be reliant on foreign aid.
That is when the politicians realise “The Great Reset” goes errrrrrrrrr????? The UK becomes a Fourth World hell – – and one of the greatest nations on this planet is wiped out.
No-one. Who needs politicians when the imams tell everyone what to do?
The current lot will have collected their bungs by then, so they don’t care.
“Some 613,936 babies were born in 2020”
Whereas 607,922 people died, giving us a net population increase that we don’t need, especially as the native population is being outbirthed.
https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/deaths/bulletins/deathsregistrationsummarytables/2020#number-of-deaths-registered-in-2020
So, roughly equal and every immigrant adds to the population.
Numbers yes – – in other terms – NOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
It’s worse than that, Jim. That 3/4 is for mother’s born overseas only and excludes children born here of non-White parents.
The thin edge of the wedge gets thicker every day and those in power have no clue what to do other than grub for their votes.
They know what to do – – they are already doing it, Waving in 000s of illegal immigrants and treating them better than us. They are effectively on holiday – hotel, food, heat, power, water, tv, etc etc, no bills – no worries – and NO signs of stopping them coming, – ( PP KEPT HER JOB – YET WAS/IS TERRIBLE AT IT ) – NO sign of sending them back home either. We are also paying for clothing for them – – TO DO NOTHING – and WE are paying for the lot of them. With quarantining come to an end – the hotels are now being filled with illegals – which surprise surprise – WE are paying for !!! – – This is the end of England –
Off to snooze in front of the idiot’s lantern – talk later.
Russia is on course to set a new record for natural gas production in 2021, but plans to focus on domestic supplies during the upcoming winter, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said at the Russian Energy Week forum.
“As for production capacities, this year we will reach record volumes of gas production,” Novak stated. According to the minister, however, authorities will put domestic demand first and ensure that Russia’s internal gas market is well-stocked for the winter period.
This means producers will focus on filling up domestic underground gas storage facilities (UGS) with the process expected to be completed around the end of October, “depending on weather,” as Novak put it, before supplying additional volumes to Europe. At the same time, the minister noted that Russia is fully complying with its existing contract obligations for gas supplies to the EU and is ready to consider increasing deliveries, but no official applications for this have been submitted.
“Officially, no one has approached the Ministry of Energy or the government [regarding extra supplies]. Russia and in particular Gazprom, as the only exporter, fulfills its obligations under all contracts. If anyone needs it, Gazprom will consider supply options based on its production capacity, which it has,” the minister stated. The EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said this week that Europe needs Russian gas and may need more gas than had previously been agreed.

Is Northern Ireland a part of the United Kingdom or not? If it is then the Northern Ireland Protocol should be scrapped as it is outrageous to have a foreign power dictating to us and imposing rules upon us.
If Northern Ireland is not a part of the United Kingdom then the EU should be free to exercise its own rules there and allow the Northern Irish to join the rest of Ireland if they so wish.
The third possibility that no one has considered is for Northern Ireland to make a unilateral declaration of independence and break free from both Westminster and Brussels.
Not a hope! They’re as big a leech and basket case as Scotland! They just don’t moan as much!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrRuDmETE0I&list=TLPQMTQxMDIwMjEgHHIiCBTZIw&index=2&ab_channel=MoggTheWeek
The US mainstream media is so absolutely partisan and unprincipled. No wonder people spend big in the competition to become senators**. Incidentally, it’s now established beyond doubt that the greatest ever master of the Senate, Lyndon B. Johnson – won his seat (narrowly) in Texas in the 1940s by means of election fraud (see the exhaustive Caro biographies).
** I should add that being a House member can also lead to very rewarding insider trading … And, don’t imagine that bureaucrats and judges have no ways of supplementing their income (or avoiding Arkancide).
Nancy Pelosi. It demonstrates just how corrupt American politics is, Speaker of the House and so blatantly corrupt.
It’s really a joke when you think what a fuss people made of the revelation that our MP’s were taking money for duck houses etc, petty cash, pilfering the till, American politicians are raiding Fort Knox, in comparison. Many of my American friends were quite bewildered at why we were making a fuss of the nickel and dimeing behaviour of our politicians.
Tell your American friends that we are making a fuss to ensure that our corruption remains nickel and dime and doesn’t grow into a massive cancer (just look at the $5 trillion of so-called “infrastructure” spend in the bills currently in Congress)** devouring the nation.
** None of the bills details are ever discussed on the US mainstream media! Why? Because the bills are dominated by Woke Wetdreams and blatant pork handouts to favoured Democrat corruption/crime hotspots …
When the duck houses were running rampant the woke agenda was non-existent. So your argument is a projection on to the present about the past. It was then my American friends were confused at the fuss, it was 2009 not 2021.
As for your second paragraph. People are acutely aware of that and the rest of the lefts agenda. Why do you think that people are making such a fuss and there is talk of Republican states leaving the union?
Well my second para. concerned the MSM NOT discussing the bills. not the US people NOT discussing them … IF they (or at least 50% of them) are aware of the contents, I am pleased (and surprised). In 2009 I reckon BIG corruption was long well entrenched in most of US federal and states politics. … although Biden was still to embark on his major moolah grabs in Russia/Ukr5aine/China.

Poor journalism. Many freight services run on unelectrified lines. This article could be read as assuming the entire network is electrified.
As for the photos: the electric ‘locomotive’ is a 3-car passenger train and the diesel locomotive is not one but a triple-header – and North American.
Journalism has “sadlidied”. ‘Twas ever thus.

HAPPY HOUR – HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Is Khan a damp squib….?
SADIQ KHAN has been slammed by Nick Ferrari on LBC over the decision to cancel this year’s New Year’s Eve fireworks display.

A damn squid, no less.
But Diwali – a non-Christian, non-British festival will have fireworks.
Obvious hypocrite.
Now here’a an odd thing – I’m actually not against the cancellation because apart from the cost with the push for cleaner air in London, the ULC and CZ etc, when you find these displays create vast quantities of toxic elements and pollution that persist an the atmosphere and then fall to earth and take a while too disperse it shouldn’t even be a starter.

Sparklers….anyone ?
I think he’s more used to ‘indoor fireworks’
Why has Khan cancelled the display?
I quote from the DT- make of it what you will but to me it looks like a reasonably astute decision , much as it pains me to defend Khan.
“Sources close to Mr Khan insist that the planning for the event normally starts months in advance and that at the time this was due to commence the UK remained under more stringent Covid-19 restrictions.
“It takes a year to organise an event of this magnitude, and for most of that year we have been in lockdown and Covid-19 uncertainty with the Government unable to confirm if mass gatherings would be able to go ahead,” one said on Thursday.
“To arrange an event on the Thames which had to then be cancelled would have wasted millions of pounds of taxpayers’ money at a time of major financial pressures.”
According to publicly available accounts, the last firework display in 2019 cost £2.3 million, of which £1.05 million was forecast to have been offset by ticket sales. The wider economic boost to London’s hotels, businesses and tourist attractions was estimated at £12 million.”
“Ticket sales”?????
Apparently to deter the 500,000 that would turn up if it was free , hmmmmmm
https://www.london.gov.uk/press-releases/mayoral/londons-new-years-eve-fireworks-tickets-on-sale
I am not sorry that fireworks have been cancelled, They frighten dogs, cats and horses.
Until we had Connie then Mary ( Scotties ) I didn’t fully appreciate the abject fear/terror some animals suffer from fireworks, Nov 5th , NYE and a wedding venue close to us make the dogs life misery, I for one would not be upset if fireworks disappeared forever.
I think the problem with fireworks today is their sheer power; none of the fireworks I remember from my childhood were anything like as loud (even the bangers). Oscar, fortunately, doesn’t seem to bother, judging by his lack of reaction to a neighbour’s recent display, but Charlie was a nightmare until he went deaf. He would be climbing on my shoulders.
Ahhh – penny bangers, happy memories I have of being a 50s lad roaming the nearby Herefordshire farmland and a 1d banger inserted into a slightly crusted Hereford cow pat, simple pleasures.
Crackerjacks (or were they jumping jacks?), sparklers, Bengal matches, Mount Vesuvius, Calling All Cars, Catherine wheels … happy days.

Pretty hairy experience, though.
A brush with death?

Just a few curled lips.

I’m sure the owner must have been in a lather about the whole thing…
Foaming at the mouth, I should imagine.
Why didn’t he bob out of the way…….just mullet it over..
The shop is permanently closed. Parting was such sweet sorrow.
Was the owner using all his fingers when he Waved goodbye?
Nah – just a Victory Roll. (You are too young!!)
How does that differ from a Marcel Wave?
Well – it’s not French, for a start…!!

Good Evening All – We are safely returned from Lunnun and I can the report the Show “Anything Goes” lived up to the hyperbole, a corker of a performance and a real lifter of the spirits. The trip was uneventful, GwR and Hitachi wafted us to Paddington and back in comfort and sometime in the last 15 years since I was last there the UG rolling stock has improved immeasurably , what I did notice on both services that occupancy was around 30% . We used Uber for the first time which worked very well and I learned that all Uber drivers are called Muhammad ,well it seemed that way. We were not mugged, stabbed, shot, accosted by cutpurses or pickpockets or offered cheap Rolexes or Chanel no5 and everyone we dealt with were unfailingly pleasant and polite. I may not leave it for 15 years before I return.
Wonderful. I really enjoy a show and a nice supper out.
I have never ever been anywhere like that with Moh , he doesn’t do stuff.
You don’t know what you are missing, Belle. Partner up with a lady friend and go for it. Tell him he will have to cook his own supper.
Sorry, but he sounds like a selfish miserable git.
Not even the two rounds at the Golf Club

Have you a girlie chum – or, preferably – a male ‘walker’ who would enjoy such an outing?

Drink o’clock has arrived. Cook is preparing a nice piece of salmon – which will be accompanied by some of the ten pounds of potatoes which fell off the back of a trailer today…waste not, want not.
Have a jolly evening.
A demain.
Well done you. Mr Potato, head forager.
So delicious , enjoy your meal , I love salmon .. with squirt of lemon !
Really T_B
with a SQUEEZE of lemon

Not the way I squeeze it… 😉
I use a wooden citrus reamer.
Not if it comes out of one of those plastic, lemon-shaped containers 🙂
One time, a while ago, when France was still on our holiday list, we were towards the port of St Malo
We were on a dual carriageway, heading North.
The local farmers must have been at loggerheads with some form of authority, as they were tipping trailer loads of
tates on the other carriageway, to block it
Behind the tractors came a stream of cars, who stopped at the blockage and ‘Filled Their Boots’ and drove away
That’s the way to do it

I’m just listening to Dr Hugh Willbourn on the Delingpod (from the end of July!)
At about 7 1/2 minutes, there is a really good bit about how bad it is that most modern people value *knowing things*, rather than having *practical experience of doing things.*
Then he goes back into ancient Egypt – it’s really good.

Carol Klein is on the telly.
MB and I think there is something wrong. First of all she was repotting plants while sitting on a bench – a very slow and laborious process.
Also, she seems slow and appears to be concentrating on keeping her balance. She has also lost weight and her voice sounds rather gruff.
MB used the word ‘weary’ to sum up her movements and appearance.
WTF is Carol Klein?
Just found her…. she is 76 years old
Perhaps she needs staking.
She lives in Devon but has never lost her Manc dialect.
Her voice has always sounded gruff.
I agree her voice always sounds strained, but there seemed to be an undertone to it.
I like Carol Klein, I watched her on the box a few weeks ago, and I really thought she didn’t look very well.
I don’t like Carol Klein. Each to his own.
Oh-oh. This is sounding like a jab victim. In the last six weeks we have had three of our friends develop cancer, one very swiftly ill and he died two weeks ago, funeral tomorrow (husband’s ‘bestie’ from school days. The other two were close friends of mine from the two ed. institutions where I worked over the last 30 years, a best work colleague from each. Over the last month, 1 friend with sciatica, her son and his wife ill with ‘covid’ although double jabbed. One person has developed Parkinson’s, went downhill in a matter of three weeks. Elder son’s wife, her parents have developed Type 2 diabetes (father), his wife has had a severe recurrence of her IBS. Younger son’s wife, her father has developed shingles over this weekend. My hairdresser’s daughter has had a recurrence of her early teenage glandular fever. Our son has had major hair loss, he has shaved his head to disguise the loss. He looks moth eaten. It is not the usual male pattern hair loss. All are double jabbed. We are not jabbed and we are fine. Neither is our younger son and his wife, they are fine. Of course, they are scattered and they have all come down with something different, the vaccine seems to accelerate that which is in your genes and affect your immunity at the same time. It is all very cunning, and I suspect had it not been for the deaths and blood clots and other early side effects these illnesses which have been prodded into life would have escaped my immediate attention.
I think everybody’s immune systems have taken a battering, not just from the jabs, but also the social distancing, masks and lockdowns have damaged people’s natural defences.
It seems to be fairly common to develop shingles after having covid – probably because the immune system is depressed.
I had it two years ago so not covid related, but it’s nasty and you can have it more than once – so we both had the shingles jab back in the summer.
Your friends and relations do seem to have had a variety of ills.
The shingles jab was one I willingly took; the one jab lasts a lifetime. I’ve seen too many people with shingles to risk that one.
OH was persuaded to have the pneumonia jab this week – he’s declined the booster and the flu jab….. he had a very sore arm for a day or two. I didn’t notice anything when I had mine last year.
I had a friend who lost the sight in one eye due to shingles. It’s nasty.
I still wonder about MB’s myocardial infarction a fortnight to the day after his first jab.
Possibly the tendency was there – but would it have happened without the jab? We are convinced he had C19 a good year earlier in January 2020.
A lot of us had something around that time.
The MI was probably vaccine induced – did he report it to the Yellow card system?
From what we are seeing the ‘vaccine’ seems to prod into life these genetic tendencies, accelerate them, earlier than nature intended. And speed up the rate of decline, too, once the illness has made itself evident. The vaccine also seems to kick into life earlier (genetic?) illnesses from which we have recovered eg those suffering from IBS and glandular fever.
Yo pm
Thanks for that. We are getting texts from our ‘Health Centre’ saying “book booster”
We will not
So glad we are vaccine free.
#Me Too.
So are we. I just recounted this take of woe on Twitter and some idiot told me to stay off the wine….. all of the above is true. Some people just don’t listen to others, don’t observe what is going on around them they are so wrapped up in themselves with their headphones surgically attached to their ears and eyes permanently on their phones.
We came to the conclusion that the vaccine was a greater risk than covid. Our doctor did not dissagree.
Hi NoTTlers
Why does my Samsung TV keep saying no signal?
TV techies help appreciated…thanks x
Wifi problem? Or if using a dish, maybe plant growth blocking reception.
No dish..
So is it using online signal or just an aerial?
online signal..
Is it terrestrial, or streaming or cable?
Pass….!
Don’t blame me! It was my old man! I thought it would be the source!
Ours is a Samsung, as well!
OK now….pity there’s nothing worth watching!
Well, I’m being subjected to snooker! 😩
Well and truly snookered…..!
It’s a load of balls…but I do quite like it!
For those of you who are reading in black and white, the pink is next to the green…..
Cue coloured ball jokes.
OK. Restart the wifi. Then on the TV, using the remote, search out on the settings something like ‘Re-Acquire or Acquire the Wi-fi Signal’.
Aerial not connected?
Pulled out the plugs left for a couple of mins …..zilch
Give it a thump
With a racquet.
Got tennis elbow
Maybe the wrong source is selected. There is a button on the remote control which when pressed you can select TV or HDMI etc
Thanks will check TV and HDMI
TV
I think she’s got it…..thanks x
I often get ‘no signal’ and it takes ages to find channels, especially when I turn the TV on at the mains. Should I leave it on standby….?
I get “no signal” if I switch the PVR off (the TV relies on it for the antenna to work).
Have you tried switching it off, and unplugging it, and re-starting it?
Yeah….
First port of call, I always thought 🙂
THANKS NoTTlers x

Ah! The Driving Instructor, and Sir Walter Raleigh with the tobacco!
Really funny!
I’d forgotten what a great comedian he was. A few tears of mirth there, thanks.
Every now and then I return to what makes me laugh, it helps me wade through the carp that is destroying our country.
Which is why if I watch a film, it’s an old one, a western or a war film. I might go for ‘Ride the High Country’ tonight. Haven’t watched it for 3 or 4 years.
It’s why I watch “the Battle of Britain” film from time to time. We win – what’s not to like? 🙂
I love watching old films, a Hitchcock or something similar. Talking pictures is always worth a look to see what is available, sometimes the films are so bad you just have to watch it anyway. I recorded “A Day to Remember” and will watch it next week on a wet afternoon.
He was good, wasn’t he. I enjoyed his character in The Big Bang Theory too. He brought wonderful dry humour to that part.
Haven’t seen that.
Samsung flat screen TVs
Plum
My Samsung TV remote has a button at the top right hand corner labelled SOURCE. Pressing this displays the possible programme input sources, e.g. HDMI1, HDMI2, AV, etc.
I have a SKY box, a TV Aerial, a DVD player and an Amazon Fire stick all plugged into different sockets on the back of the set and listed as SOURCES.
My own TV occasionally gets its knickers in a twist and displays NO SIGNAL. I press the SOURCE button and see which source it remembers that it was receiving last time it was used. Often someone in the family was using the Fire stick to watch Prime Movies and that is plugged into HDMI2 socket, not the Sky source which is HDMI1.
When this happens, I use the left and right arrow keys on the remote to move through the selected Sources until I find the one I want to view. I press the ENTER key (the one in the middle of the cluster of arrow keys) and this selects the source that I want.
Simples, but at 80 years old it took me a while to learn.
Good luck!
Perfick…… thanks and noted for next time! x
Wow. This site is good ain’t it!
Throw away the T & view online. That’s what i did.
The Farage programme tonight was from Port Talbot, the first outside broadcast of the programme. It started off with poor sound which entailed a quick burst of adverts until the sound was improved. However the sound mike boom could not cover the whole audience when they were conversing with NF. He is conducting this type of outside broadcast every Thursday at places in the UK. I enjoyed the programme and it ended with a male voice choir singing a Welsh song with gusto.
A gusto wind?
We need much more of this. Let the people have their say.
New regulations from the EU regarding gambling (yes I know) have come into force. We did leave didn’t we? ( No).
Stop smoking.
Stop eating meat.
Stop drinking.
For many years this has been dressed up as something to help and improve health. Now they say stop eating meat to save the planet (too many cow farts).
In actuality it is to stop offending Muslims. Fact.

We do not.

Enough idiots do… that will affect us that don’t comply.
Who is/ was ‘Conal’ of the deconalising ?
Perhaps he was a cocktailisation 🙂
Glad you used an ‘s’ rather than a ‘z’.
BTW..mine is an ultra dry big up Martini. :@)
Conal the Barbarian??
If eating cows (humanly slaughtered of course) annoys the Muslums then should we eat more? Support civilised Britain – eat more bacon and other pig meat! Goodnight.
Good night all.
A wonderful piece of ribeye steak with fine marbling, Béarnaise sauce, jacket potato a la Elsie. Chianti 2016.
Not into saving the planet then…….
Peddy has his own planet. :@)
Cow’n’tates
As we say in Linconlnshire
Good God, no!
There is/was a ridiculous programme on BBC1 tonight about saving for the planet. I gave it 2 minutes & switched off.
Well done I am sick of all this fear mongering but so many believe it all. I never watch it.
Just my kind of meal.

FFS! Not to demean his skills, but where does value come into things these days?
Art for art’s sake…..
Money for god’s sake…
Banksy should be appointed to reform the British Parliament …
I enjoyed an hour of Nigel Farage (on UK NEWS) holding court in a Port Talbot pub. The audience included many steel workers, some lady questioners – and a male choir wearing suits, shirts and green & yellow ties.
His main topic was rocketing energy costs …
I can’t imagine Boris in a like situation – he’d be eaten alive.
I am delighted that we have one remaining champion of the United Kingdom.
Meanwhile, the British Parliament is
doingcollecting salaries and expenses ….And they are sitting on all that cheap coal
I think it might cost a fair few bob to restart the coal industry, Bob3, but it would be a viable cost.
Perhaps, Mr Scargil, could call up his miner matesand get them to go back to work
OOOPs Scargill wanted the pits closed
And 50-plus years of shale gas …
And Rolls Royce ‘small scale’ Nuclear Generation technology …
We could also create ‘natural gas’ – as we did for a hundred years – from high quality coal reserves.
Best to leave it for the Chinese when they invade
40003+ up ticks,
Evening B3,

I vote for you as Minister of Energy, lacoste.
I would enjoy that as a ‘Final Fling’, Conners 🙂 !
The Steelworks (Tata?) has to import coal, ours is taboo
Two of my B-i-L used to work there
Nigel is in his element in a pub 🙂
340003+ up ticks,
Evening C,
He cannot be bettered getting his life back via the starting blocks.
Evening, all. In my view, “Britain” does accept the need for fossil fuels (without qualification); it’s the government that needs to be shown the error of its ways.
“Britain does accept the need for fossil fuels (without qualification).”
The trouble is: Mrs Greenie Johnson doesn’t.
IMHO, she will destroy her husband – and the Conservative Party …
AND THE UNITED KINGDOM
The Conservative Party is already dead, as far as I’m concerned.
It left me years ago.
340003+ up ticks,
Evening M,
Well said.
She’s a convenient public figure to blame, but I think Boris would be in it up to his neck anyway. It’s about money, not ideology.
I have a mate, who works for Rolls Royce, Aero-Engines Division
Their new engine for aircraft is powered by wood chipping being fed ito a fire chamber, that produces hot air,
which is directed at a turbine
If flying near London, the Hot Air coming out of the HoC can be used
There will be lots coming from Glasgow next month. Enough to power a private jet or two back where they came from.
Ontario have just received two new electric ferries to be used on some local services. $125 million for ferries built in Romania, no wonder the canadian ship building industry is in trouble.
The powers are bragging about the carbon savings but who knows what they are up to making these boats rechargeable, the routes are so short that they could have just run an extension cord across the gap.

The end of the faux pandemic is nigh. Too many untruths and manipulation of the data has rendered the scam as abominable deception.
They don’t care. They don’t even care if you have the jab or not – the main thing is to implement the principle that freedoms are dependent upon showing a digital id. Once that is embedded in society, our freedom is gone.
The headline countries like Canada, Lithuania and Italy are trying to force people to be jabbed – look instead at the countries where it’s going softly, softly, like the UK or Germany. It’s far more sinister that vaccine passports are slowly being normalised, while not actually forcing anyone to have the vaxx.
Good morning all – Friday’s new page is here.
