Morning everyone.
Good morning, Minty.
Morning Elsie Welcome back!

Good morning, fellow NoTTLers. Daft item of the day,
School bans girls from wearing skirts under new ‘gender-neutral’ rules
Tiverton High School in Devon made the change to uniform policy without consulting parents or pupils
Parents of Tiverton High School (THS) students in Devon were informed on June 9 that the “modifications” to the school uniform would come into effect from September this year.
…and of course, the ‘bigger’ girls will not be allowed to wear brassieres as the boys don’t.
This ‘diversity’ rules soon become self-defeating.
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/06/11/school-bans-girls-wearing-skirts-new-gender-neutral-rules/?li_source=LI&li_medium=liftigniter-rhr
Commonsense is rotting away rapidly.
The Dopey Wokies are being allowed to and successfully destroying our social structure and long established culture.
If the pupils rebelled against this stupid nonsense, I’m sure they would have public backing.
…and of course, the ‘bigger’ girls will not be allowed to wear brassieres as the boys don’t.
I don’t think that will be the case, as the motto of the School is Semper Ubi Sub Ubi.
Always where under where – you figure.
Oh, bravo! 🤣
Or perhaps Bravissimo…
I would fight that tooth and nail. I absolutely *hate* wearing trousers.
Me too. There isn’t any such thing as “gender neutral” clothing. Our bodies are different. End of.
If the ruling had been the other way round and that every pupil should wear a skirt, there would have been protests from the rooftops.
Look at this … theerin lies the clue why school girls MUST wear trousers … probably for their own safety .
People of Tiverton show heart for fleeing refugees
‘These are people who have fled their native countries out of desperation and undertaken journeys, by whatever means, to find safety in the UK’
https://www.devonlive.com/news/devon-news/tiverton-extends-warm-welcome-refugees-6595929
A multi-agency operation has been launched to care for asylum seekers at a Mid Devon hotel.
The Home Office is using a hotel within the district, although has asked for reporting not to name the site due to fears of violence towards them.
Despite this, people have speculated about the hotel being used, and the premises is closed for bookings until April.
DevonLive understands that the move is part of the Home Office Asylum Dispersal Scheme, and not linked to schemes such as those for Syrians or Afghans which was backed by Mid Devon District Council.
The hotel is being used for an initial period of three months, and those staying will be given meals, snacks, and security. Following the three-month period, a one-month break clause will then be in place.
Sounds like the same problem that villagers in Linton-on-Ouse had, when 1500 slammers were due to descend on the ex-RAF Station and an edict from that same slammer community, recommended that women and girls should dress decently in order not to enflame the uncontrollable urges of the average slammer male.
Rape, Mayhem and Murder being the standard output of the slammer ideology.
Tom
It does in deed .. I reckon the elephant in the room is being confronted
More like contining to be appeased rather than confronted.
Well, the state swiftly cracked down on the villagers who had opposed the gimmigrant tide, if that’s what you mean.
I am spending a weekend in Dumfries in mid-July with 7 other golfing buddies. As of yesterday, we have had to move from our original hotel accommodation as the Shortbread Senate have decreed that the hotel will now be used to house ‘Ukranian’ refugees.
A minor blip for we stoic golfers – after all only the Friday round will actually be played in Dumfries, the other two courses are ‘out of town’ – but I wonder how Brits will manage staycations when there is no room at the inn.
Good morning Fergal
The Tories are a hoist to their own petard.
Everywhere in Britain now appears to be suddenly very diverse .
Places where one would not expect to see grinning black faces or clusters of Arabs or lines of Asians waiting for buses or even just huddled together on sea fronts, town centres etc are becoming more common place.
The safe sanctuary of golf course could be under threat .. Golf fees v the rising cost of everyday bills could be a problem .
I’d happily miss the odd meal/sling another layer on to continue to gain freedom on the course for a few hours. To me it’s; fresh air, exercise, social bantering all interrupted by the occasional swing of a club. I’ve just paid this years subs, so I’m good until next June.
Otherwise, I might need to dig out my tent and go fight the midgies in the mountains and glens.
It will be interesting to see how many of the ‘Ukrainian’ refugees actually come from Ukraine. I expect we’ll know as and when adverts for ‘Hot Ukranian Babes’ appear in the Dumfries and Galloway Farmers’ Weekly.
The SNP wanted to be a Super Sponsor for Ukranians – finding accommodation has proved very difficult – hence hotels being booked out for many months.
SNP anti-Midas touch strikes again
Ferries, NHS, Schools, Railways, Roads, Aluminium/Steelworks guarantees …………….. the list of failures is almost infinite
BUT it is all Westminster’s fault causing austerity and cutbacks nothing to do with SNP over promising and failing to do even the minimum required.
“…the list of failures is almost infinite”. The list of failure is ever increasing. It is the Calculus of Failure. Having failed at one thing, it is pushed aside and a new project is started, soon to be doomed to failure. Examine the claimed successes and discover that that they are also failures but covered up by lies.
See the new V&A in Dundee. The cost is quoted as being £80m. The original budget was £40m, but that is not mentioned.
For those interested in figures the cost was £48,500 per square metre of gallery space, or £9400 per square metre overall.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V%26A_Dundee
I went to Dundee in 2018 and visited the new V&A. I was not impressed.
Cut taxes to avoid ‘political annihilation’, Red Wall Tories warn Boris Johnson
Jake Berry, leader of the Northern Research Group, says PM could lose support of dozens of MPs if he fails to deliver on levelling up
If ever there was a bunch of self-serving gits, these ‘Red Wall’ Tories are. They are obviously more concerned about losing what they thought were nice snug seats, the remuneration, expenses and holidays that go with it.
Yes, we urgently need tax reduction but the list of far more urgent items that need rectifying, certainly outweighs the Red Wall troughers needs.
It’s about time that Jake Berry et al. removed their heads from their arses and took note of Johnson’s agenda i.e. WEF/Globalist ‘Build Back Better and the Great Reset’. If they really do not see what is going on in the upper echelons of government then they have failed in their duty to their constituents and the Country at large.
Sadly, from the perspective of many of the modern Tory MPs, Me comes first closely followed by the Party with the people and Country trailing badly in third and fourth (not necessarily in that order), effectively nowhere until election time rolls around.
Any purge at the top will require more than Johnson’s head if the current government agenda is to be, first stopped, then rapidly reversed and put into a programme of social renewal and economic growth: Brexit offered the government the chance to do those things but Johnson and his useless government are squandering the opportunity. IMHO I do not believe it is all down to incompetence, not by a long chalk.
Yes, Korky, ’tis time for a thorough cleansing of the Augean stables, currently identified as the British Parliamentary and Devolved States system.
I watch what is happening in the USA, e.g. Steve Bannon’s War Room in which he covers politics, economics, foreign policy etc. Bannon is deeply political, is a supporter of Trump and the right of centre MAGA movement. The USA has three factions vying for power, the Democrats, the Republicans In Name Only, RINOs, not a million miles from the Democrats, and Trump’s MAGA movement that is vastly different in its vision from the other two groups.
We do not have anything like that, our third grouping is a mishmash of small and ineffective parties that do not threaten the comfortable hegemony of the Tory and Labour parties. As both the Tory and Labour leaderships have been captured by the globalists the people have nowhere to turn, and sadly do not seem to care sufficiently about the direction of travel.
We need a Trump like figure, someone who believes in the UK and will shake up the system for the good of all. Lord Frost is being mentioned as that person to work through the Tory mechanism: I’m not sure that’s possible but we have to start somewhere.
Morning all.
I don’t think the majority of the people in the UK actually want Johnson to remain in office.
He’s proven he’s not worthy of the job of British PM by his own volition.
If he had any respect for his party and the electorate he would resigned. He’s made it perfectly clear that he can’t and should not be trusted.
And as is the usual case, our political classes and civil service eff up every single thing they come into contact with.
Good morning, everyone.
Putin likely to be ‘incapacitated’ and toppled in three months, says ex-MI6 spy. 12 June 2022.
Former CIA agent Robert Baer claimed that there could be some truth in the claims. And ex-British intelligence man Christopher Steele agrees.
He told BBC Radio 4’s The World at One: “I don’t see him [Putin] being in power for more than three to six months from now. There are signs his health is failing for a start which will be a factor in this.
“And if what we’re being told by the CIA and others and our own sources is true then it looks as though he could become incapacitated over that sort of period of time. This is a strongman regime where people have to have fear of the leader and if the leader is incapacitated medically, then there will be a move against him, I’m sure.”
Well it’s Christopher Steele of Trump Dossier fame so it’s obviously true. I‘ve just watched a recent recording of Vlad and he looks remarkably spry for someone suffering from incurable cancer, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and mental breakdown.

I suspect he is desperate to go before the S really HTF. There are signs that it is starting to do so. Doctors can only remain ‘baffled’ by this ‘mystery’ for so long. It has not been as simple as they thought it would be when they were plotting in their ivory towers with Gates, Whitty and SAGE and the WEF.
Not sure if folk watch it, but there’s David Tennant Dr Who episode where to destabilze the government he says ‘Don’t you think she looks tired?’ to an aide.
I will wait until I hear what actually happens.
Yeah, right. Toppled. MI6 my left buttock.
Good morning, everyone. Off to Lyme Regis to play in the quarter final of the County Fours. (Bowls). Back much later.
Good morning, Delboy. Enjoy your match and let us know how your team got on.
Good Morning Delboy
Have a good day – more power to your elbow!
Morning DB
It is the most beautiful clear blue sunny day for a trip over our South Dorset Western ridge to Lyme Regis … the views will be outstanding .
Best of luck and have a great time .
Well done Delboy, good luck to you.
‘Morning, Peeps. A miserly 13°C here, bright sun and a lovely day in prospect.
Here’s a DT headline today that will gladen the hearts of Nottlers:
“Imam dismissed as No 10’s islamophobia adviser after backing calls to cancel ‘blasphemous’ film
Government says it had ‘no option but to withdraw’ Qari Asim’s appointment after he backed the protest against The Lady of Heaven film”
Before we rejoice, however, no BTL comments are permitted. Free speech? Oh, the irony!
They’ll appoint someone who is prepared to practise taqiyya to keep the job.

Most people are stupid as we can see from the general reaction to Covid.
Last night, one of our party started glooming on about covid returning.
Amazingly, the other three of us found more riveting topics to discuss.
We have found peoples attitudes to all this very dissapointing. We thought far more people would have understood what is going on, but no.
Thank you, Rik, Death nicked for a brief spell on Ar5ebook.
Neil Oliver is a national treasure!
Today’s leading letter:
SIR – The only way that Boris Johnson can survive as Prime Minister, following Monday’s leadership vote, is to tackle immediately the problems that this country faces – and achieve results.
These problems are well-known: the cost-of-living crisis, the NHS, the inefficient and bloated Civil Service, particularly the departments dealing with passports and driving licences.
Mr Johnson must reorganise his dysfunctional Government. Only then may he enjoy the confidence of his MPs and the public.
Malcolm Richman
Lytham St Annes, Lancashire
No, Malcolm Richman, he’s proved himself unfit for high office. He only got there as a result of his lust for power, but once there he had no idea what to do with it. The sooner he’s gone, the sooner the Conservative Party might start the long haul back to Conservatism.
Johnson had his chance, and he blew it.
SIR – Mike McKone (Letters, June 6) cannot recall a serving prime minister being booed at a national event, as Boris Johnson was during the Platinum Jubilee. At the closing ceremony for the Manchester Commonwealth Games, Tony Blair received resounding boos from all around the stadium.
He was followed by the Queen, who was treated to repeated Mexican waves and cheers.
I really don’t care if Mr Johnson has lied to Parliament. His failure to act like a Conservative and his obsession with net zero have done it for me.
Brian Donaldson
Orrell, Lancashire
Me too, Mr Donaldson.
Blair was booed when he went to talk to the WI as well, I seem to recall.
Still gets his gong though – what a farce!
Kwasi Kwarteng vows to name and shame firms failing to pass on fuel duty cuts. 12 June 2022.
Kwasi Kwarteng has ordered the competition watchdog to conduct an “urgent review” of the petrol market, including proposals to name and shame firms failing to pass on fuel duty cuts.
Name and Shame! Lol! What’s an “urgent review” anyway? Someone goes and fills up?
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/06/11/kwasi-kwarteng-vows-name-shame-firms-failing-pass-fuel-duty/
Name and shame all of them I guess.
I did notice a garage in South Devon yesterday were diesel was less expensive than petrol. But only by 2 p per litre.
That’s the case in some garages round here.
I believe there’s an organisation that takes 78 pence in every pound spent on petrol.
Don’t tell me …. it’ll come to me in a moment …………………..
SIR – I was pleased to read that General Sir Gordon Messenger (a Royal Marine) has been appointed to lead the “most far-reaching review” of NHS management in 40 years.
As a former bootneck who, after serving 30 years in the corps, worked for 12 and a half years in the NHS, I can assure Sir Gordon that his appointment is sorely needed.
We had a saying in my department that the only reason the majority of non-medical managers had a job in the NHS was because McDonald’s wouldn’t give them one.
John M Allistone
Poole, Dorset
If that isn’t a poisoned chalice I don’t know what is! I fear that the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune are heading his way as the vested interests in the NHS will do their best to stop him!
And when he tells them how bad it is, will they shoot the messenger?
Most certainly.
And without full military honours too.
If I remember correctly around 3 years ago our know all government appointment around 6 new regional managers in the NHS. And they were all being paid around 250k per year. At the time it was suspected to slowly but surely bring the NHS to its knees.
Maybe Sir Gordon didn’t get the message on that one.
SIR – When it comes to NHS reform, there are no easy answers: all European healthcare systems have their faults.
However, adopting co-insurance models, such as those in France and Germany, would emphasise that the NHS is not free. It might also encourage improvement in general practice if GPs are paid on a fee-for-service basis.
As things stand we are not going to win the battle against obesity, for example; people will continue to overeat and take insufficient exercise until they feel a link between their life choices and their healthcare.
Tim Wright
Dorchester
It isn’t free, Mr Wright!
It’s effectively free for everyone who isn’t a net taxpayer. But it’s the same in France and Germany, if you are on benefits your health insurance payments are covered.
That’s all of the illegal immigrants then. And many non-illegal slammers.
SIR – Our daughter sent two Jiffy bags from Melbourne, Australia, containing small Christmas presents.
She has done this every year since she and her husband moved there 15 years ago, and there has never been a problem – until last year.
We had to pay £90 on each Jiffy bag, even though the contents were only worth about £10. I have no idea if this is down to Brexit, but we now restrict Christmas to video calls.
Dr Steve Cowling
Knockin, Shropshire
And the solution to this rip-off is…
SIR – Every Christmas we send advent calendars to our nephews and niece in France.
Last year, however, I was astonished by the customs fees. Our local post office advised that for such small gifts we should use the term “no commercial value”, or NCV, in the value box on the customs declaration. This ensures that no charges are levied on the unsuspecting recipients.
Paul Meyer
Pangbourne, Berkshire
A possible solution from BTL comments:
John Bowles
Sending PG tips to Denmark is not a problem, just use British Corner Shop web site. They now have a depot in Holland and items are sent within a day or 2 of placing an order with no extra customs duty added.
I get regular deliveries of tea, baked beans, Branston pickle etc sent to me in Italy.
My son, who has been caring for me, should be about 90 minutes from the George W Bush Houston airport on his return to the USA,
His train ticket from Yorkshire to Manchester was £40 dearer than the one to Yorkshire from Manchester on his arrival. The reason was a function in Manchester last night. Does BR not provide extra trains for such events and do these train prices increase for football events, etc?
He was doubly punished financially just after he had paid for the necessary Covid documents to enter the USA, there was a notice that such documents were no longer required as from midnight on Saturday night
Have you been poorly Clydesider? You said ‘caring’ rather than just a vist.
No Ndovu – just a long needed hip replacement. I delayed too long- I was in acute pain last September. I went Private at a Hospital in County Durham.
I hope you are making a good recovery from that now. Not good to be struggling with pain for too long.
It sounds as if you have been really poorly , Clydesider .
Now that your son has returned to the US , do you have anyone else to keep an eye on you and care for you ..
Will you tell us what has been wrong with you .
Amazing to think that you once cared for animals as a Vet , yet it sounds as if you are still in need of support and assistance x
I required a hip replacement and it takes 12 weeks minimum to recover. My daughter in law drove me up and down to preliminary hospital activities as she was over to care for her mother as well but she left when I was released from hospital on 3 May and my son, came over to take over. I now feel able to look after myself. My son is still in the UK. I did not realise he was staying overnight with his brother in law’s family. He is now awaiting the incoming flight from Singapore/ Houston before he sets off for Houston to rejoin his wife. There were two functions in Manchester and York races were on so he had to stand all the way to Manchester. My neighbours have offered their help but I think I can carry on OK. I won’t hesitate to call for help if it is needed. 2 nurses and one retired nurse are in my neighbourhood.
Good , at least you are on the road to recovery , and are able to move around a little .
Just be careful , keep activities simple .
SIR – What right do today’s rail leaders have to take Britain back to the 1970s through strike action (report, June 10)? They should appreciate the needs of the country, not make matters worse.
We should also be given the facts. How much do rail workers earn? How many are living in fuel poverty? What do their leaders earn? I don’t suppose the latter have to worry about lost earnings or pension contributions. Is it too much to expect them to think of others?
David Wedgwood
Newmarket, Suffolk
Already published in the DT last week, Mr Wedgewood! They should ‘think of others’? Your naivity is breathtaking.
It’s just the usual case of the thicko angry nasties Marxist Union leaders who probably think that they have not been noticed enough recently by others, who are relying on so called public transport.
Good Morning Folk

Good morning all. I see that so-called Conservatives are at war over whether to cut taxes. In a very Brown-ite turn of phrase, Rishi says that tax cuts need to be ‘funded.’ Does he not understand that it is our money to begin with, and that individuals and families will always spend their own money more efficiently than government?
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2022/06/11/tories-war-calls-immediate-tax-cuts-tackle-cost-living-crisis/
Is there not a single penny that could be cut from the NHS budget? From oversea aid? From the armies of civil servants in local and national govenrment? Could HS2 not be scrapped? Net Zero made an aspiration rather than a legally-binding commitment? These ‘Conservatives’ only know how to tax us more and more, cutting their wasting spending would not cross their minds.
How do you fund tax cuts?
Does he mean that you need an extra tax to fund the tax cuts.
Most likely. It seems to be how their minds work.
I can only imagine that as they reckon on their tax intake being X – no doubt already promised to areas which curry favour with their groupthink – and that if they cut taxes there would then be a shortfall in their spending plans.
Of course, any sensible person or business owner would cut expenses to fit income, but this seems beyond the imagination of the political financial pygmies and their equally inept snivil serpents infesting our political entities.
JK, both the Johnson and Starmer regimes have been captured by the globalists’ ideals and both would impoverish the Nation if they are not stopped. The, ‘You will own nothing and be happy,’ slogan is no longer something to laugh off: it is happening now. The ‘Net Zero’ costs are but one of the measures to part the people from their assets.
The very same thing is happening in the USA, rocketing inflation, stagflation predicted, spending money the government doesn’t have etc. It’s not coincidental.
I think he means if he cuts taxes in one area he needs to increase them somewhere else. The concept of reducing Government spending in the first place, to reduce the amount of tax that need to be raised, is totally alien to his thinking.
Could he not fund the tax cuts by paying everyone to stay at home for another year and then send the bill to our grandchildren?
Could he not und the tax cuts by paying everyone to stay at home for another year and then send the bill to our grandchildren?
It shows you how they think though. The attitude is it’s our money, we let you keep some. The state is awash with waste. It is spending 3% more this year. Instead we should be cutting it by 15-20%

Can anyone explain why human rights laws only apply when immigrants reach our shores?
Do the French and other EU countries not have human rights lawyers?
If they do, I expect that their gravy train is not taxpayer-funded.
Joe Biden AGAIN blames Russian invasion for spiraling gas prices that smashed $5 barrier for first time in history. 12 June 2022.
President Biden is blaming a war happening more than 4,000 miles away for the rapidly rising cost of gas prices at home.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Biden said Russia’s war in Ukraine was the blame for the surge in the cost in the price of oil and gas.
‘It’s outrageous what the war in Ukraine is causing,’ Biden said.
Neither the United States nor the UK use appreciable amounts of Russian Gas or Oil! The price increase in these two countries is due to Sanctions!
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10908323/Joe-Biden-blames-Russian-invasion-spiraling-gas-prices.html
I saw an amusing video compilation of the Democrats blaming various different things for inflation over the last two years or so.
“The Fed printed too much money which we laundered via Ukraine or channeled into our cronies’ pockets via vaxx mandates and fearmongering” didn’t come into it of course!

I think once a person has been established as one of the largest divots in the history of the entire world, someone needs to make sure they are silenced.
He is stunning, isn’t he.
He needs stunning.
US & UK may not use Russian oil & gas, but plenty of others do. So, they have to buy O&G from lther sources, since Russian is basically not available. Supply & demand thus states if you choke off supply, demand will push the prices up.
Bonjour les Amis,

Sunday 12 June: What Boris Johnson must do to stand a chance of staying in office his last day without serious confrontation is compose a mass resignation letter for himself & party.
WE could have the most genuine CONSERVATIVE leader on GODS green earth heading up this tory (ino) party with the same treacherous root force in place and a continuance of their NWO shite.
One thing for certain we, as a nation, are not going to alter our steep angle of dive, in fact it will increase left in the hands of the lab/lib/con mass uncontrolled immigration , ongoing / paedophile umbrella, ongoing,

whatever that party’s recent history reveals as in long term concealment by ALL Gov. employees of mass paedophilia, the DOVER daily invasion
treachery in abundance, NO MATTER as long as THEIR party wins.
ONE thing for certain the current member / voters of the lab/lib/con coalition have done their very best in creating the killing fields oh England that MUST TRULY be reversed by forming an opposition party that puts Country before party.
One other certainty is keeping to the same voting pattern will kill you by your own hand …….via the polling booth, this is not a scare comment but proven fact.

Do Electric Vehicles really cost one third of Internal Combusion engines to fill up?
https://inews.co.uk/news/full-tank-petrol-costs-electric-vehicle-charge-1680823
I have calulated that if I fully charged the latest EV model that has the same range as our modern 2 litre SUV then the cost ratio of filling to full range would be one to ten!. This would mean using the whole stored on board energy of an EV would cost £10 and to give a 400 mile range.
This is based on an EV efficiency of 8 miles per kWh and a petrol vehicle efficiency of 8 miles per litre and home charging but without a smart enabled EV charger.</b<
This is consistent with the claim of a BBC Look East viewer who wrote in to say that was what it cost to fully charge their EV.
I foresee a time when all cars will be fitted (a la the ‘Bulletproof Bomb’ driven by The Anthill Mob in Wacky Races) with a floor trapdoor through which the driver and passengers will lower their feet to run along the road to give extra propulsion to a fuel-less vehicle.

I note that Top Gear is attempting to break the national speed limit in a Sinclair C5.
Several years too late. 150 mph was achieved by Adam Harper some years ago.

That was the land speed record.
This will be an attempt at the ice speed record. 😉
In 5 years when the battery has as third the capacity, and electricity costs are sky high (as the state will never permit the cost to fall), and you can’t charge your car; will your EV still be as good an investment?
Of course, the point of an EV is not to be clean. It’s to remove the ability to drive form you entirely.
The dramatic rise in petrol and diesel has halted the brief surge in second hand car sales brought about by the chip shortage for new cars.
EVs with their higher dependence on rare metals are even more scarce with deliveries being quoted as one year to eighteen months.
I bought my diesel car in 2009 with the expectation of a 20 year life but being Euro4 its usefulness is being rapidly degraded in favour of ultra low emission vehicles. I blame the Government for my decision to go for the longevity, economy and low CO2 emissions of diesel cars.
Just wait until the battery is knackered and needs replacing – that’ll be £18,000 up your shirt-tail, plus whatever for the recycling cost (which won’t happen – into the land-fill it goes).
The latest thinking is that the battery will be integrated into the car chassis so when it is knackered the car will be a write off.
This will avoid the very large costs of complete battery replacement and refurbishment of failed cells .
An EVs life will thus become a fraction of the a modern internal combustion vehicle some of which have maintenance schedules of 20 years.
Would you buy a car for £30,000 plus with the expectation of replacing it with a more expensive one in 5 – 7 years?
I don’t think so.
In Australia there is such a mark up on second hand EVs that buyers are keeping them for between 5-7 minutes!
More fool the eventual buyer.
Morning NTN,
One must have the wisdom not to become an eventual buyer. 🤔
I was chatting with an elderly chap at Thurlestone beach last Thursday and he had recently bought an all electric Nissan Leaf for around £30 k and it takes at his home 17 hours to complete a full charge on his car. As many (probably the majority of) households in the UK only have considerably less than a 60 amp power supply more likely to be around 40 amps or even less. It took him 17 hours to charge his car when it fist ran out of power. Like he said Good job he didn’t want to out. Can you imagine a terrace of Victorian houses on both side of a residential street all trying to charge their cars at the same time………….wide spread outages would be a daily occurrence.
All done by 2030 Boris did you say ………….another bare face lie.
Housing developers are already up in arms about the Government’s new requirement for all homes to be equipped with EV charge points. The necessary electrical power infrastructure is just not there and I can’t see them investing in any capital for that purpose whllst they do everything they can to avoid funding necessary roads for new developments.
To replace petrol would require doubling our electricity generating network. Doubling it.
The state is intent on halving our generating capacity – ignoring the pointlessness of wind.
I read an article yesterday that apparently wind was providing 38% of our electricity. Well, it did – for 17 minutes, at 1am in the height of summer. The lies and deceit are staggering.
Good morning, my friends
In Today’s Telegraph Letters several contributors are complaining about the absurd and vindictive charges imposed, seemingly at completely random prices, on letters and parcels arriving from outside the EU. Of course I had to contribute a BTL comment:
We live in France and can confirm that French officialdom are definitely trying to punish us for Brexit.
At Christmas a cousin in England always sends us a couple of interesting second-hand books which are, from a monetary point of view, worthless but we were charged €17 euros to receive them. A couple of months later we were sent a couple of complementary coffee mugs by GB News as we had contributed a comment to the Mark Dolan show: to accept these we were asked to pay €12 on each mug so we declined to accept them and we hope that our postman is now enjoying his morning cup of coffee from one of these mugs.
The pettiness and sheer meanness of politicians and functionaries is what we have come to expect.
Good morning, Rastus.
Most of what I receive from the UK is pettily held back until I’ve paid extra taxes too. There are outlets in the UK, however, who have taken steps to minimise this. They have entered into some kind of agreement with EU countries to lessen this impact. Whenever I order art materials, for instance, from Jackson’s of London, they charge me an infinitesimally small charge for P&P which includes overseas taxes. All their items are then delivered to me, at no extra charge, over here and in fairly quick time.
My point is: if Jackson’s can work through this, why can’t other UK suppliers of goods do the same?
Good morning, Grizzly
Thank you for your observation.
The problem that we and the DT Letter writers raised was that many of the charges are imposed on parcels which have no commercial value and are sent by friends and relatives rather than by businesses. Of course these provide good material for spleen venting by vindictive, petty-minded anal orifices.
Indeed. I see it as a simple case of opportunism. Their attitude is, “we can squeeze them dry on a spurious pretext and there’s nothing they can do about it,”
No, there isn’t. Our government could play tit-for-tat on postal charges and Customs Duty but that would not resolve the issue. Our government could raise the stakes all round, ditching NI protocol without notice, arresting French fishing vessels and so on and on. However, we are dependent on the French for many things including electricity and food. We could not win. The French know this.
All our government could do is work to remove this dependency and I do not see that ever happening.
Dependent on the French for passports, too.
Yes, good point. Despite this country having printers who are expert in producing security documents.
De La Rue. Team Valley trading estate.
Yes, thanks. I did some research on them and security stuff a couple of years ago, or maybe last year, and did not look it up today.
I lived just up the hill from the estate and was always told that the made banknotes and passports! There was a huge outcry when the passports went abroad! Whoever made that decision should have been shot!
Did you have a good birthday? 🎉
Yes, thanks. We are between money at present so the Henriot Blanc de Blancs was the last bottle for a while. Smoked salmon (Sainsbury’s, not great) Cullen Skink, (home made, excellent.) Ups and downs, I suppose.
Love it! ‘Between money’! Glad you had a happy time!
Since I have become single again, I am “past money” (largely due to the government taking extra taxes from what I have left after MOH passed on).
All the more reason to abolish duties.
Are the customs declarations properly filled out? Is the article marked with a low value and as a “gift”? If not, then customs will be all over it.
My understanding, Paul and Richard is, that marking it both ‘Gift’ and NCV (No commercial value) automatically exempts it from Custom’s dues.
The Christmas books we received from our cousin and for which we had to pay €17 to receive them were clearly marked GIFT and OF NO MONETARY VALUE on a correctly completed customs form.
But still the bastards wanted to give us a share of their idea of Christmas cheer.
We have found that postage from the UK gets held up in customs. It’s what customs do, look through the arriving stuff, and charge duty, tax and whatever. No change since the UK left the EU, because Norway isn’t inside the EU Customs union.
So, I doubt it’s anything to do with the EU, just that now the UK is outside, not inside.
Yet people continue to blame Brexit rather than the real cause. Of course, big fat state hasn’t helped by removing all import and export duties. That would be a huge win, something to really crow about but no, the greed of the statist Left knows no bounds.
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/43ee54ea3c2b00ce94949d0ffda114a0eb098691ba95fc9c7d95ab250fe54655.png Enough’s enough; it is time to cut through all this sex/”gender” bollocks! The question I have is: WHY do those requesting to know what sex one is … have to know? From now on, anyone asking me for my sex or “gender” will be given the same stock answer (whether in person or on a form). I shall simply endorse it, N/A.
The matter of gender is quite important – for example, to know how many well-woman (if they still exist) clinics are needed, how many gynaecologists, and to track how many tiny girl babies are being choked off at birth because hey aren’t wanted.
The census is already contemptuous. Get rid of it. A waste of time and money.
Maybe all non-menstruating pensioners will be given their full allowance; none of that contributory (non?)bollacks.
After all, giving birth is no longer sex specific, so the married women’s pension just doesn’t exist.

Prince Charles has decided to take personal responsibility for all illegal immigrants and will construct special accommodation for them at Highbury and other properties which he owns.
He also undertakes to give them generous financial support so that they can feed, clothe and heat themselves lavishly and not incur any of the expenses with which native British people have to struggle and he will foot the bill for any legal costs for defending them should they ever get into trouble with the indigenous population. As Defender of Faith he will make sure that several mosques are constructed in all the places where these immigrants have set up home and allow Sharia Law, rather than British law. to apply. When he becomes king and the Head of the Church of England, he will have all the churches destroyed to make room for more mosques.
No such thing as British law. There’s Scottish, and (English & Welsh) law.
Just shows what an arse Jug-Ears is.
He’s probably working on it with the (THEY) real leaders of the world.

Or, move all the gimmigrants in with them and make them responsible for their crimes. I hope none have children.
Far easier to just end legal aid for gimmigrant cases. Do it retrospectively and save the tax payer the hassle.

Cheaper and more effective Plum, a rat catching cage with a trap door.
We can no longer get sodium chlorate or glyphosate and we have a long drive which is about 80 metres in length.
My lovely wife sprays it with white vinegar, salt and a squirt of washing up liquid but although this works very well in the short term Caroline has to repeat the time-consuming job ten times a year when a dose of both sodium chlorate and roundup meant it was just a once a year job.
Any suggestions from our gardening Nottlers as to what we can do?
Tarmac.
Laid by friendly Irish travellers. Guaranteed to last at least a week.
That long?
If only we could afford it…
Just park a chip truck at the end of the driveway and overpowering smell.
Are there no exemptions that allow roundup? All I have to say is that I need it to treat Poison Ivy and it is allowed.
Licensed contractors are also allowed to use the stuff even though it is banned for the peasantry.
We’re allowed Roundup for domestic use, not for farming.
The new improved Roundup for domestic use is next to useless for the kind of job Rastus has. It just doesn’t do the business.
I try to avoid using weed killer as far as I can but certain areas I resort to old Roundup, unfortunately I’m running out
The “new improved Roundup” is simply pelargonic acid, which is extracted from geraniums. Its only advantage over straight vinegar is that it smells nicer; it is not more efficient – and I have that bit of scientific info from an agricultural engineer who knows his stuff.
Vinegar costs less than 50 euro cents a litre; the cheapest pelargonic acid costs around 8 euros a litre. Which is a huge markup for a nice smell.
How long does the vinegar smell linger and does the wash-off kill other plants?
I’m very wary of using anything that might harm the orchids.
The vinegar smell lingers for the rest of the day but is gone by the morning.
I’ve not noticed the wash-off harming anything else. To be honest, the stuff is so inefficient that a little unintended direct squirt on a plant I want to protect will blacken a few leaves but will not do any more harm. I really have to soak the plants I want to remove for it to work – and make sure I squirt at the very bottom as well as on the leaves.
The upshot is that I’m using a lot of vinegar (with an acidity of 8%) about ten times a year. I cannot believe that that is not doing more harm to the environment that a quick sprit of glyphosate twice a year.
Thanks for that.
I won’t bother, thus even more garden will be re-wilded!
I believe that the issue with the glyphosate is that it can be carcinogenic.
It’s hazardous, but whereas in the UK we took the view that we should manage the risk, the EU took the view that hazardous materials should be banned.
You’ve triggered me, Caroline – please permit me a personal rant.
Before we were all forced (by the EU) to have “eco friendly” toilets – the ones which “save” water – I hardly needed to use toilet cleaner/bleach. Now I have to squirt the stuff down the lav every day. I cannot believe this is better for the environment than using a few extra litres of water every flush.
Thank you for accommodating my rant.

Banned in France and the EU. If Johnson was a true Brexiteer he would have shown his defiance towards the EU by allowing sodium chlorate or glyphosate to be used in Britain in order to pick up the gardeners’ vote.

You can get weed-burners, which burn the weeds right down to their root so that they don’t come back (dandelions etc.) I think they are mostly electric, so you would need a pretty long flex. Or you can get gas weed burners, e.g.

Caroline came back from church today very depressed – the brother of one of her friends in the parish dropped dead suddenly out of the blue aged just 56.
Many of us are beginning to think we know what is causing this – it has happened in our rural parish far too often and before the days of the Covid gene therapy it very seldom happened at all.
Ahem…….

That first one sure hits the nail on the head!
Nicked and tweeted!
The plot thickens – apparently an autopsy was demanded but the PTB refused to let this happen.
Anyone who cannot detect the odour of fish must be nasally impaired!
I really regret having the two AZ jabs. The red spots are slowly diminishing but my feet and ankles, especially the right one are somewhat swollen.
Plus, I also suspect that our recent health woes have been exacerbated by whatever was in the so called vaccine. Plus the fact that we were told to stay at home and protect the sodding NHS.
Something is rotten in the state – everywhere.
It does seem that health problems, past and present and those one might well have developed at a later date in the future (i.e. a genetic tendency) are exacerbated by this gene therapy injection. Certainly that has been the case for our two sons who had the injection to protect their wives. See my reply to Alf above, it explains a bit more. It all worries me to death but there is no way I could have stopped them, they are 40 and 38 – all I could do was give them information but I suppose they thought ‘there goes Mum, going on again.’
All the time we being told to protect the nhs I was thinking it should be the nhs that was protecting us. Our younger son had two instances whereby he had to be admitted with an appendix which had flared up and he said the hospital (the Lister, in Stevenage), was deserted, a ghost town. I have my suspicions about this, that the closures were to cause further death and destruction of people’s lives, to further tear apart the fabric of society.
Indeed, the NHS should have had our backs. They are trying to catch up now but to suit themselves not the patients.
NHS has been told, apparently, to lift all restrictions re masks and visits etc. Many “trusts” are refusing to do so….totalitarian regimes run by tin pot hitlers.
We have two appointments coming up- one is facial surgery for me- again. Just let them try and bully me.
I do hope you get it sorted, LotL, such a worry for you not to mention the discomfort.
All the best for the appointments and op. At least they haven’t worn you down – you go for it!
It could be worse. The Pfizer mRNA jabs, for example. I had trwo AZ jabs against my better judgement. Both had side effects, the second being somewhat life-changing. I don’t think I’ll ever get all of the feeling restored to my right hand, but at least some of it has returned. But I’m lucky. The Rector’s wife had the same jabs, and is far worse off than I am.

Maybe we should not be so quiescent? Writing to MPs sometimes results in a speedier response from Big Business, but seldom a different one. Maybe there should be local groups who would turn out to assist the detention and removal of illegal immigrants. If we, as a society, are going to permit mob rule, maybe there should be a mob on behalf of law (and order)?

I have lost my sense of smell though.
353134 + up ticks,
Afternoon B3,
I am surprised what was your price then ? as from any part of these Isles a body can recognise via the nasal canal the stench coming from the political overseers stables in westminster.
Our son through all his trials and tribulations over the Christmas period never lost his sense of taste or smell. I don’t think he had covid although he tested positive for coronavirus (i don’t believe the Covid crap).
He’s decided to have the experimental injections. We hope they don’t get him.
Our two sons decided to have the injections. The elder decided because his wife has auto-immune problems and has serious allergies; our younger son because his wife was expecting and sensibly declined at that point. Our elder son has developed alopecia as a result, round patches of hair loss on the back and sides of his head. Our younger son has been ill on and off since February with a coronavirus, required two treatments with antibiotics to shift it – he’s never needed antibiotics before; he’s had the worst migraine ever and he says his hay fever has been worse this year than it ever has been. He’s also had a couple of colds since the Feb coronavirus episode. It worries me to death. I wake up in anxious turmoil every morning.
We don’t believe the covid rubbish either. And don’t get me started on the fraudulent testing.
We have continued to take vitamin D3 ad advised by 2 consultants I saw in 2020. We have not had s cold or sniffle since. I had a blood test a couple of weeks ago and doc phoned to discuss results. Delighted with my vit D results of 90. Should be higher than 50 and upto 200.
At 2p per capsule Big Pharma makes no money.
We’ve been taking vit D3 and Vit C for the last two winters – stopped for now but will start again in the autumn.
We take Vit D as well. Although I had the horrid bug back in February I wasn’t nearly as ill as our younger son, I recovered more quickly and poppiesdad recovered more quickly than I did. Certainly the ‘sniffle-runny nose’ aspect of the bug was much reduced. Poppiesdad had his Vit D levels checked a month ago along with his psa check and it turned out to be 115 a month ago, 6 months earlier it was 70. (I had mine checked 3 years ago when I fractured my ankle and it was 38…. ). Three weeks ago I was looking after our 10 month old grandson who had spent the previous night in A&E because he was so unwell with the family’s latest bug and I have been fine. I used to catch everything.
Elder son, who had the injection, accepted our offer of a tub of vit D (4,000 IU) has been free from viruses all winter. Our younger son declined, he ‘has some’. I would recommend Vit D to everyone. I also take Vit C, zinc and quercetin October-March.
Vitamin D, Vitamin C, Zinc. And when we got Covid in February it was all over and done with in under 2 days and we have been left with no nasty after effects.
When is the truth come out? This outrageous lie about Covid and the gene therapy must not be hidden for ever!
I ‘m not sure if many still believe it or are afraid to admit they have been taken for fools and are afraid to admit it.
I had the two AZ jabs – only because I had a trip booked and I was sure it would be a requirement for travel. I think I’ve been very lucky that I had no reaction at all to them. I’m certainly not having any boosters. OH had the pfizer jabs – and a booster – but has refused the latest round.
D had the two AZ jabs, and came down with a really bad bout of something or other (he was very tired and it may well have been ‘flu, but it wasn’t covid) that laid him low for 2 weeks. I had no jabs and didn’t catch anything from him either, then or since. Just as well, he had me to look after him.
I think we’ve been lucky – no adverse reactions and no bugs either – I think the vitamins have kept us well.
Against my better judgement, I had both AZ jabs The first was swiftly followed by bursitis in the left elbow. The second by numbness in the right hand. Ulnar nerve palsy, according to the consultant’s letter to my GP. It has settled down, but it’s never going away. My 4th and 5th fingers of the right hand are now compromised, but at least I can feel them. A bit. I have rejected mRNA boosters, so I may live to tell the tale…
I was going to say ‘fingers crossed’ but that doesn’t seem appropriate. 🙏
Depends on which fingers… 😀
Oh dear, that must make your musical playing more difficult.

With public majority consent.
Good afternoon all
This week’s issue of he Taxpayer Alliance and sign the petition to reduce tax.
Please do so as TPA are fighting on our behalf.
Yet taxes are their highest ever. We’re working until Thursday mid-morning before we get our own money.
I think the TPA hold the government to account far better than the government petitions do.
MPs gave a vested interest to do nothing. The TPA get into the media and to ministers.
The government will do what it wants unless it can be cajoled by an organisation like the TPA who work on behalf of us plebs.
MPs have….
Gosh, you are good! My posts are so full of errors nowadays that they are invariably changed/edited the minute I have written them At which time I also decide to add something…

Has any transgender female athlete, ever performed especially well in women’s sporting events when his/her/their penis has been amputated?
The swimmer Lia Thomas apparently flaunts his/her/its penis (or John Thomas!) in the changing rooms to the dismay of the swimmers who have not and never have had a penis. And what is the external genital position of those trans cyclists who won 1st and 2nd places in a recent international cycling event for women?
Perhaps all sporting organisations can choose to use the Willy Nilly system. With a willy you compete with other competitors with willies; nilly and you compete with those who do not have a willy.
Trouble is, men who have been emasculated to become ‘women’ still have an advantage of having gone through puberty as a male, with greater development of muscle etc. So even though they may appear to be women, they are not. You can’t change your chromosomes.
And they’ll never need to plan their training around ther period cycle nor have their career limited by childbirth.
This is just all ridiculous. There have been men through history who pranced about in women’s clothes and who preferred boys to women. Also, there have been women who liked to wear men’s clothing and liked other women.
I wear jeans all the time, although I own several dresses but I prefer my jeans. That does not make me a lesbian or trans gender! What a stupid term anyway.
Bloody hell, I like my husband, his company and etc. Sod all this other nonsense.
I sat through a sermon this morning – on Trinity Sunday – where the Holy Spirit was repeatedly referred to as “She”
I’m confused….
If there is a god and she is a woman, she will understand ;-))
It is all bollox now and I am not a religious person. As Spike says, the guys in the RA in the war were not religious unless a gunner dropped a shell on his foot…..figure the rest for yourself.
Surely God, or any part thereof, has no gender, so cannot be addressed as either “He” or “She”?
Perhaps ‘they’ transitioned at some point?
I think they are the confused ones Geoff.
That is just awful.
Thank goodness we didn’t have that. We did get a lot of prayers mentioning the Trinity, though and the (long) sermon was about three in one.
Post-op trans women who have been on oestrogen and testosterone-blockers for some years still have an advantage over women.
They say that they don’t, but they’re just comparing themselves with how they were before transitioning, not with women. Feminists propagating the myth that a woman who trains is as strong as a man have not really helped their cause either.
I must admit that my performance as a woman would not be very convincing so I shall stay as I am.
It’s nice to know what’s what, isn’t it?
That doesn’t stop any of them!
Any idea why the Uke civilians seek shelter in steel works and chemical plants. I’m sure its true, its reported in the DT. Not the sort of places I would leg it to in war.
There was an RT report that showed they go quite a long way down underground. During WWII the sub-basement (below the basement) of Selfridges was used as a bomb shelter.
Solid walls, lots of cover – metal cover, a plethora of vantage spots for snipers, a big building to disguise your numbers.
For guerilla infantry against armour or aircraft for a non military position it’s an ideal defensible position.
I think civilians were held hostage there by Zelelnsky’s nazis. Something odd about about the steel works at Mariupol. Rumour has mentioned that it was the illegal NATO headquarters in Ukraine (which enraged Putin as it was contrary to the Minsk Agreement), and even more rumours to suggest the passages and tunnels under the steelworks housed children who were being trafficked. And a biolab, of which a recent count revealed 46 on the Ukraine-Russian Border.
The beauty of chemical works is that if hit your propaganda machine can claim the Russians are using chemical weapons.
Hello all! At last! A place with WiFi!!
I’ve found a very peaceful, quiet and relaxing place on the edge of the old Wainsfleet bombing range!
Will be home tomorrow afternoon after picking up t’Lad’s purchase from South of Leicester. A fuller report and piccies later!
Earlier this year, Rev Richard Coles announced he was retiring from the Church of England.
He explained his reasoning was that churches were becoming more conservative and fundamentalist, meaning gay people like him were made to feel “unwelcome”.
He will have to change his title from ‘Revered‘ to ‘Rearend‘ Coles. A minor inconvenience… …or a minor in a convenience?
https://th.bing.com/th/id/R.4e764d9a3b00f03b6ceefb8c4c0c4940?rik=f3frKYCMLDAcAg&pid=ImgRaw&r=0
Bull. St Barts is conservative – 1662 prayer book etc – but our assistant priest is gay and I’m sure he doesn’t feel in any way unwelcome in either the church or the hospital (as his duties cover both).
Hi Sue. I’m in leafy Surrey, where we have our own issues. But I understand that the London dioceses would collapse without their gay clergy.
The same is undoubtedly true of organists. My assistant from years ago is unashamedly gay, and a brilliant organist. As are most of his friends. I confess to feeling uneasy around them all, since I seem to be a minority…
An odious man who used his position as a priest to promote his media profile and make money on chat shows.
The Church of England with people like Welby and Coles in it is a disgrace and deserves to go out of business.
However many concessions people like him (grievancemongers) get, they always demand more, and turn on the rest of us in the end.
He’s jumping the gun. If he’d waited a little while longer, he would have found that the CofE will endorse same-sex marriage etc. etc. and that anyone who disagrees will find another church with more orthodox views on homosexual relationships.
Clearly not in the same Church of England as the makers of Irreverend (which is excellent – kind of Test Match Special meets radical Revolution).
I was made to read Coles’ recent book on grief. It got metaphorically thrown at the wall roughly 200 times. He seems to think he is a widow, despite the fact he is not a woman. And he mentions it constantly.
Sounds weedy.
Public service announcement.
We are going to the pub. We need a break so are going to go and cause mayhem and disaster at t’pub.
You have been warned.
Normal service may or may not be resumed;-))
Yo, Big Sis. I fear SWR would militate against it, otherwise I’d join you. Where is the pub of which you speak?
In sunny Bournemouth- and it is! Lovely again today.
Check out the Nici. Bournemouth’s newest 5star hotel. The bar looks nice. It used to be the Savoy at West Cliff.
We are poor. Out of our league.
Just had a look at the Bar prices. Quite reasonable for a 5 star. IPA £5.50 a pint. Spirits £4. Cocktails £11.
I would go in for one drink to check them out. But then…i’m nosy.
Even in leafy Surrey, that’s OTT. I don’t mean the Hog’s Back beer of that name. We’re still around £4 a pint
Just looked at their Tripadvisor reviews. Disaster area. Avoid !
TA reviews are mostly not to be believed.
The “I want to be unpleasant” for the most trivial of reasons far outweigh the well thought out and constructive ones.
I have read enough reviews to judge the whingers and liars.
I doubt that I’m typical but I do two reviews: one very good, if they are; and one bad, if they are, but never a “one” only a two
If yu want them to take notice and come with a reply, I’ve often seen only ones and fives get a reply.
I always reply to reviews of our gite whatever the guest posts
You are the exception – or should that more correctly be “exceptional” :o)
Like Bournemouth. Used to commute to Ringwood, which is nearly there. Know Poole Council’s former CEO, but don’t hold it against me (this also means you, True_Belle).
I lived in Bournemouth for a while when i worked at Hurn Airport. Quite liked going out to supper in Poole.
Do they serve Thatchers cider? If so, wait for me, just getting me coat!
Yes, they do.

Have some Gold for me… I’ll be feeling it slide smoothly down as you drink. Sigh…
Thatchers and my local brewery Hogs Back are closely aligned. Hazy Hog being a case in point.
Hazy Hog being a pint in case?
Ho ho. I’ve visited the Hog’s Back Brewery shop two or three times, recently. They were sold out of MajesTea, and SoverignTea is yet to be released.

Liz Laybourn, who leads a single-sex private school, says she also thinks twice about using the word ‘daughters’ in letters to parents

Another idiot who doesn’t know the difference between sex (biological) and gender (grammatical). What on earth is she doing in education?
Indoctrinating the pupils.
Lying!
The headteacher should do a bit of history research.
Boys haven’t always been called boys. Until the late 15th century the
word ‘girl’ simply means a child of either sex. Boys, where they had to
be differentiated, were referred to as ‘knave girls’ and girls in the
female sense were called ‘gay girls’.

If the government had arranged it one bloke with a scooter should have arrived – late, after the lad had gone home. He’d be looking through a small window – the emissions, you see. Fifty people would be on site to control traffic, one hundred million forms filled in, in triplicate.
I hate government of all sorts. It is a useless, incompetent, ineffectual, expensive, destructive, greedy, abusive tyrant.
A tears to the eyes clip, thank you.
What a lovely thing to do. Restores faith in human nature. Made my eyes well up.
Fantastic; it could only happen in the USA. If ’twere UK you can bet Plod would have stopped it.
Have Your Say:
Will the UK REJOIN the EU if Boris goes?
BRITAIN could look to re-enter the EU if Boris Johnson resigns as Prime Minister
The argument which swayed me to voting Leave was “If the UK was not a member of the EU, would I vote to join it?”
I wasn’t prepared to to give my country away to a bunch of losers….
Plum,
EU influence is still with our judiciary, our financial markets , imports exports , immigration , jobs and a whole lot more .
Europe don’t like us , but … but they are like mesmerised rabbits because they are all scared stiff of Russia .
They don’t like us but they like our moolah…Rejoin is a bit of misnomer…!
It wouldn’t be rejoin. It would be ‘be obliterated’.
Same as staying in would have been.
….. and that is what it is all about. Our moolah, dosh, cash input. Every village in France has its games area for its teenagers, the roads are mostly superb (superbe), as indeed they are in Spain even in remote areas in the Pyrénées, whilst we crash and bounce around from one pothole to another, and raise funds for village improvements and entertainment. It was interesting to see where the UK’s cash input was being spent.
I do think the remainers have power to their elbow .
I haven’t read that article because Daily Exxpress articles are so difficult to read , their online pages are an absolute muddle .
Hi Belle…hope you’re feeling better…. long Covid appears to have affected many sufferers.
Perhaps the members of the EU should join the Commonwealth and the entire EU bureaucracy, courts etc be shut down entirely.
The EU was bitchy when we were a member; it has turned to aggressive hostility since we left.
Germany has exposed itself as an unreliable strategic ally. Their relationship with Russia is dictated by self-interest – and blown up in their face …
The French have never forgiven us for saving their arses in two World Wars….
We shouldn’t have bothered, should we? But then they wouldn’t have been able to forgive us for Agincourt…
I don’t think the ordinary people in the EU would want us back anyway. They would know that there is a large part of the population that hasn’t stopped wanting out.
I would never trust Germany or the Germans, or any
gang. common enterprise they were in. It was only a question of time before they would wrest control of it – that’s the nature of the beast. That’s one of the reasons I voted to leave at the tender age of just turned 19.Considering the economic damage his taxes have done, the endless assault from the Left who blame everything on Brexit – rather than the reality, which is remaining aligned with EU policy, the climate change tyranny, the contiued tax, debt and waste socialist policies it seems that we’re being driven so far into the mud that someone will proclaim that the only way out is through rejoining and obliterating this nation.
Of course, if Boris had diverged from EU policy, cut taxes, started fracking, built coal and gas power stations, introduced school vouchers and a pseudo insurance model (where the NHS does the work before getting paid), tackled big government waste… bah, may as well wish for a unicorn.
Great comment Wibbling .
Yep , just the way I view things too.
Thing is, we are going backward in so many ways. Academically, technologically, industrially.
What’s expanding? The welfare classes, illiteracy, rent seeing, government and debt.
Just as the positives are all related and fuel one another, so too do the negatives. It does take time to change things, but unless we do we’re doomed as a society.
I vote Wibbling for PM….
Yes.
That, surely is what they intended. Make a hash of Brexit (so, in fact, it is no Brexit at all) then claim that we can’t make it on our own, so we need to rejoin.
Looks that way, Conners.
I hope not. We need to ride it out – get over Covid and scrap the green levies.
The green levies are regarded as sacrosanct .. the missing chapter from the Bible .. there are so many followers .. a new religion , don’t you think .
So many people getting rich off the taxpayer.

These places know what someone wants when they ask for that. Most aren’t that obtuse. After all, the customer can go somewhere else.
You are too literal-minded!
Been there, done that. The warqueen orders this byzantine lark and I just said ‘coffee’. They do know it’s weird and don’t want you walking somewhere else.
They may well know exactly what you mean but they don’t intend to make it easy for you! Bluddy baristas!

My husband has this problem….”I just want a cup of coffee!”

American (upon entering a bar): “I’ll have a cold beer.”
Englishman (entering a pub): “A pint of draught, Theakston’s Old Peculier, please, in a sleever (straight glass).”
For a Yank, anything will do so long as it has had all the flavour frozen out of it. For an Englishman, he will discern all the choices before making a selection based upon flavour, texture, mouth feel and general enjoyment.
I always wonder if the Merkin penchant for super-cooled beer is to chill the flavour out of it, or disguise the lack of flavour in the first place.
When I was a regular contributor to CAMRA their monthly magazine What’s Brewing told of the saga of the Yank cat-piss factory, Anheuser-Busch, who concoct the pastiche “beer” called Budweiser, attempting to sue the Czech makers of Budweiser-Budvar over their use of the name “Budweiser”.
The Czechs told the Yanks to cat-piss off since their brand had existed for 200 years before the USA was invented. Gleefully, for all common-sensists, the Czechs won the dispute and can continue to make and brand their far superior beverage. The Czech beer is properly made from malted barley, while the Yank dishwater is heavily supplemented by the addition of rice!
Aw, my dad called Coca Cola “cats pee and pepper”.
Budweiser can’t even be dignified with the name “cat’s piss”.
Budvar is good beer.
The local CAMRA branch, who even had their own recently opened pub, used to hold their monthly meetings at our rugby club. The prop forward who ordered, stored and controlled the beers was an enthusiast and our beers were local brews kept superbly, as CAMRA themselves acknowledged
I have not had a Budweiser-Budvar since Friday.

I’m sure Paddington Bear concurs 🙂
Home-made bitter, low-sugar marmalade (a recipe SWMBO has to perfection) makes lovely sandwiches. Even eaten from the jar, with a spoon…
As does marmalade on toast with a toasted cheese topping, sweet and sour as it were on toast… it’s yummy.
Double expresso and a glass of water usually works for me.
I hate it when I’m asked ‘Americano?’.
The Aussies call those a “long black”. (An espresso is sometimes called a “short black”).
Ooooh! You can’t say that!
Does ‘non-reflective coffee’ pass the woke criteria?
I wouldn’t know, I’m not woke but I’d check your front door!
Ha, another unknown little gem that I’ll add to my list of useless info that my be worth recalling at some future date.
👍
It took me ages when I was down under to work out that what I needed to ask for to get an “ordinary” coffee was a “flat white” 🙂
Bill Bryson, in his hilarious travelogue Down Under, tells of ordering his first ‘flat white’. He said, “You don’t just have to order the colour of it; you have to decribe its inclination from the vertical!”
How about a short black and sides. Does that incude a muffin?
Lemon and poppyseed? Mmmmm!
Americano is wrong, IMHO. The ultradiluted espresso loses much flavour and all the beautiful creamy body, just being a mug of hot & wet.
Filter coffee is better for long coffee, there’s much more flavour and body.
Americano is usually ukk in most places.
Good expresso from freshly ground beans – double plus good.
Cafetière for day to day coffee.
I spent most of my life studiously avoiding all kinds of coffee. I can’t stand the smell of “instant”, and was always disappointed with percolator, filter and cafetière. I then discovered the joys of the espresso machine and now have a home-made flat white, cappuccino or espresso most days. I still prefer a decent pot of good tea though.
Instant coffee smells like old pub ashtrays. How attractive is that?
If you want something that takes every last amount of flavour out of the coffee try one of these:

The secret is to find ground beans you really like, this little beastie will get the flavour
Ah, the Bialetti Moka. A classic.
I discovered it in college, more than 50 years ago, and I’ve yet to find anything that gets close to it in its ability to extract all the flavour of the ground beans
Only drawback is that it needs heat – we have induction, doesn’t work with non-ferrous pots.
I thought you were a Viking, light a fire!
It’ll scorch the kitchen.
Front room stove would work, but that’s a lot of prep for an express coffee…
I must admit that there are days when only tea will do, but!
made from leaves, not those bags of (probably unjustified criticism) floor sweepings.
NO SYRUP! Argh! How to destroy good coffee.

Visiting a friend who lives in Limassol, I was advised that the way to get just a cup of coffee there is to ask for Nescafé. What you get isn’t necessarily actually Nescafé but that’s Greek Cypriot for just a cup of coffee. I put it to the test several times and it works.
The Nescafé granules sold in Greece are a million miles away from the stuff we get here! For a start it actually tastes of coffee and not floor sweepings!

Along with two squares of ‘real’ turkish delight 😋
Greek Cypriots put a stick of cinnamon along with the tea in a teapot. It was a strange experience at first but, nevertheless, very refreshing.
Sudanese coffee is really strong espresso, with sugar and ginger. By God that wakes you in the morning! Best ever, when served from the blackened billy wieded by a big fat Mamma at her place under a tree. That’s coffee!!
Invariably, I buy Tesco ‘French Inspired Purple 5’ ground coffee.
I use a 1/2 litre cafetierre.
That – with a 1/2 teaspoon of cream does it for me – at home – everyday.
I never drink roadside sh!t – or out of paper cups ..
We have that too, and the same method. A mug each every morning after the ‘dog walk’ with a well buttered hot X bun each. Heaven for a few minutes. We don’t drink any other sort of coffee. We take it with us when we go away – the coffee, the cafetière.
We like Cafe Direct Macchu Pichu ground coffee. Made in an old ceramic pot.
It’s what you get used to, isn’t it? When you are young it is off with the old and on with the new, now I just like the secure familiarity of the old tried and tested. I am sure your old ceramic pot feels like a trusted family friend every time you use it.
It’s a tall, straight 1960s pot that was mother in law’s. I still have the old brown one of my mother’s as well. We’ve had cafetieres but always end up breaking the glass.
We’ve done that on several occasions too – so easy to knock over for some reason on the drainer.

Surprisingly, a former UN Assistant Secretary-General writes:
In 1982, UNEP Executive Director Mostafa Tolba warned of an irreversible environmental catastrophe by 2000 without immediate urgent action. This was repeated by another senior UNEP official in 1989. In 2004, a Pentagon report warned that by 2020, major European cities would be submerged by rising seas, Britain would be facing a Siberian climate and the world would be caught up in mega-droughts, famine and widespread rioting. In 2007, IPCC chair Rajendra Pachauri declared, “If there’s no action before 2012, that’s too late”. He added ahead of the Bali climate meeting, “This is the defining moment”. In 2009, NASA scientist Jim Hansen said President Barack Obama had only four years (i.e., his first term) to save the world from climate catastrophe.
Third, an important reason for both Covid and climate catastrophism is to spread fear and panic in the population as a means to spur drastic political action. Both agendas have been astonishingly successful.
In addition to hypocrisy, model-data mismatch and fear-porn, a fourth common theme in Covid and climate change policies is the invocation of The Science.
Gradually The Science was captured by climate activists who acted as gatekeepers to restrict entry to climate science departments to the faithful and used peer review to reject contrarian articles. …
We now know that Anthony Fauci and Francis Collins, from their perches atop the infectious diseases research funding agencies, orchestrated the takedown of the Great Barrington Declaration and smeared its three credentialled authors from Harvard, Oxford and Stanford universities as “fringe” epidemiologists. Yet, as of last week, the Declaration had been signed by 930,000 people worldwide, including 63,000 medical practitioners and public health scientists. In addition, there is now a flood of articles being published that show the lack of demonstrable public health outcomes from lockdowns against measurable collateral health, mental health, educational, social and economic damage; and the inefficacy of other measures like masks and vaccines alongside possible long-term harms from them as well.
A fifth shared element is the enormous expansion of powers for the nanny state that bosses citizens and businesses because governments know best and can pick winners and losers. Moreover, in both cases growing state control over private activities is justified by being framed as minor inconveniences in the moral crusade to save the world and save granny.
In a biting but accurate comment, Sarojini Naidu said it required a lot of money to keep Gandhi in the style of poverty he demanded. Similarly, a lot of money is required to support Covid and climate policy magical thinking where governments can solve all problems by throwing more money that must neither be earned nor repaid.
The final common element is the subordination of state-based decision-making to international technocrats. This is best exemplified in the proliferation of the global climate change bureaucracies and the promise (or threat?) of a new global pandemic treaty whose custodian will be a more powerful World Health Organisation.

Why were they forced on us? The last 30 years have just been hellish, with the country literally overrun with violent criminals who immediately sit on welfare. Labour’s spiteful malice has been nothing but misery for everyone else.
For that they should all be charged with terrorist offences.
No difference under the Conservatives.
True, the government hasn’t changed since 1997.

Evening, all. My local rag had an article about a report that said we should be reintroducing public information about what to do in the event of a nuclear attack or accident because risks are as high as during the cold war. Seems that Covid and monkey pox have lost their impact and now it’s Armageddon all the way. I don’t think “bend over and kiss your arse goodbye” (the advice we had pinned up by the Elsan down the bunker) is quite what they had in mind 🙂
Well, here’s hoping some land on London. It’d solve so many problems. It might even knock some sense into the gormless socialist morons determined to ruin this country.
The Russkies would aim at Slough.
Hell no, there would be too many repercussions if they hit Slough. The Pakistani and Indian governments would retaliate.
We passed through there yesterday.
What a hell hole.
Protect and Survive.
But it is much harder to create a false flag nuclear detonation, I suppose.

Sad news Belle. The last osplet to hatch on the Loch Arkaig nest got itself stuck under a ‘cot rail’ and couldn’t get itself back into the nest cup. The weather has been atrocious and it wasn’t protected by the mother Dorcha, from the awful wind and rain. Sadly it has died and I can’t bear to watch any more. The other two bobs are well and growing fast, but I’ve always had a bad feeling about this little one.
Oh, dear. That’s really sad. Could have been OK but for the weather…
Indeed. I know it’s nature and as far as osprey go, one chick fledged is a result, but it is awful to watch. I can’t watch in case the others eat it. I first went to Loch Garten when I was 6 in 1963. I think it was the first site they returned to, and I’ve been fascinated by them all this time.
That is so sad and horrible Sue . Poor litttle thing
I have been mesmerised by the good parenting shown by the Poole harbour pair .
I have heard there were three eggs , but only 2 hatched and they can be seen , heads bobbing as their parents feed them . It is very windy here .
Do ospreys eat their own young .
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OD0Ym0r8kzE
Apparently they have in the past, and fed them to their siblings! Nature, truly red in tooth and claw! I’m also watching the Loch of the Lowes site, and the peregrine falcons at the Nottingham university nest! I get nothing done!
Can I have the links for the above mentioned please..
I was so amazed to see one of the parents arriving in with a very large fish in its talons . What do they do with the bones , do they remain in the nest .. must be really stinky.

The number of flies during the sunshine last week was horrific! And you’re right-it must stink! They do seem to consume most of the fish, though skin and tail and all!
The auction hammer goes down on Mother’s house on Thursday 22 June, and shortly after that we will be travelling to Wales to empty the place, and say goodbye. That means we’ll be in the Cardiff/Penarth area for a few days. It’d be lovely to have the opportunity to meet any footloose Nottlers in a pub for a beer or 3.
Bear it in mind… BTW, I love Brains SA.
A hard time for you.
Hope you got your bid in!
Be good to get it all over with.
Did you know that the SA after Brains stands for Skull Attack? 🤣 That, and Felinfoel (“Feeling Foul”) from Llanelli, are a decent drop.
Indeed.
Felinfoel is good, but needs to be chilled to cellar temperature for best benefit.
I used to be a CAMRA, too. Mapped and surveyed all the pubs in Newport Pagnell late ’80s, for the GBG. There were a lot – many hidden in little streets.
When I moved to North Norfolk I bought two OS maps covering the area and sat down with my Good Beer Guide. I marked out every pub, inn, tavern and similar hostelry within a 20-mile radius of my home and visited them all in a few months. Those that I loved I marked on the map in green highlighter pen. Those to be avoided at all cost were marked in red. The rest, i.e. OK for a rainy day, were marked in yellow. I was a frequent visitor to many of the ‘green’ pubs (some becoming firm favourites) and an occasional visitor to some of the ‘yellow’pubs. The ‘red’ pubs remained unvisited.
Felin (Melin with soft mutation) is a mill and Foel (Moel with soft mutation) is bald. Make of that what you will 🙂
I am Foel and I sometimes feel like I’ve been through the Felin. :•)
I do not know the comms protocol on Nottler, but I would love to grumble over a beer. I enjoy the modern ‘craft’ ales these days, but Brains does Brains Gold which is a great brew. Alternatively, I’m often to be found in Penarth Weatherspoons sampling their excellent beers. I’m busy on the 24th. If you need any assistance pse say.
Wasn’t aware there’s a ‘Spoons in Penarth! Excellent!
Once I know the schedule, I’ll ping you through NTTL & we can set up some beers!
Its up on the main street. Beer at less than £2.00, you will have to take care after suffering Noggie prices. When I first went to Bardufoss many years ago it was a shocking £5 a pint, its not far from that now here.
£5? Puh. At least twice that here.
Looks promising!

Bannon doesn’t understand Farage.
Farage walked away from UKIP & left it to me. As UKIP Leader I spoke about the things he wouldn’t.
Then he formed the Brexit Party to work with the MSM to take votes away from UKIP in the 2019 Euro elections. It worked.
Then he stood down the Brexit Party candidates in Tory seats in the 2019 General Election to help ensure a Tory win. Then he walked away from the Brexit Party.
I thought Bannon was sharper than this.

Boris Johnson ends the week with reason to be cheerful. On Monday, he survived the biggest challenge to his leadership since becoming Prime Minster.

PrimeYork Minster! Lol.Goodnight Gentlefolk and God bless – I have a lot of Zeds to catch up on.

‘Night, Ann.
Schlaf gut!
Pub visit was a success, I take it!
Actually Sos, we only had one drink each. It has become too much of a clique group, which it wasn’t before. So we are now home and attempting to relax.
MH has put on Andrew Doyle on GB which has some nutter iman ranting on about the movie that was shut down because it insults Islam.
If you you listen to this shit- they will not reference the number of young white girls attacked by these awful louts.
That’s a pity, when it gets that way, the pleasure often goes
I doubt we will go too often in the future. It has changed since all the lockdown BS.
🙁
Fuck Islam.
Insulting enough?
Not nearly enough.
Just working up steam.
Do you know what Paul, I have never ever in my life been racist or anti religion, although I do not espouse any religion.
What is going on now has completely changed me- I cannot stand the over the top tolerance in this country for everyone who is not native to this land. And I also cannot understand why this government are so scared of the sodding muslims. But they are and it will never end.
Hence the influx which will never stop.
I am intolerant now . Very intolerant .
More so ever since a few years ago when I was driving in Southampton during the clear up of Milaws house , and a car with a group of Black blokes yelled at me .. “White bitch , move yer arse ” when I stalled the car at traffic lights .
I am just scared of them , sort of PTSD from younger days living overseas, riots and that sort of stuff.
Good night, Tom.

Last Thursday, my cleaning lady drew my attention to a nesting seagull on the roof of Arnold Clarke’s showroom visible from my kitchen window!
This lesser black-backed gull has been a busy mum ever since – through night and day, wind and rain. She changes position every hour or so. Occasional visits from a herring gull (?) and a LBB gull – presumably the Dad.
I have set up my tripod-mounted Celestron telescope on the draining board …
Looking forward to the arrival of gull chicks :))
Is your Celestron a 3½” catadioptric (mirror) lens like my Questar is? I remember looking at Celestron ‘scopes back in 1988, but I came into some money then and could afford a Questar. I remember that the Celestrons were very good.

Look you, Boyo.
Older and wiser: no, no it is not, Griz!
I bought it ten years ago for £19.99 in a Salvation Army charity shop …
Its much more fun than politics ! …
On Friday evening after our meal out in Salcombe we were struggling back up the slopes to our apartment and noticed two roofs with seagull nests above two velux roof windows and chick’s running around on of roof slates.
All that poo on the glass and the noise must drive the home owners mad.
I forgot to mention that in a conversation at the pub that one of our chums Dad had died. Bowel cancer but he was a stickler for obeying the rules and therefore did not bother his doctor & etc
Said bloke was 77 which is not that old these days.
Goodnight. I originally typed Goon Night;-)

Good night, everyone.
I am increasingly disillusioned with those opinions giving credit to Biden. The man is an evil dolt given instruction by the Chinese Communist Party.
Witness his gift of the US Military Airbase in Kabul (Bagram) to the Chinese, the gift of thousands of armaments and many billions worth of US Military equipment to the Taliban, which is now certainly in the possession of Pakistan and China.
Biden is a tool of Obama and Obama is a tool of the WEF. This is so obvious that nobody but a fool would think otherwise. Both have long sold out America to China.
Here in the UK I listen to stupid people decrying President Trump as “that awful man” yet the idiots are seemingly unable to read the script laid out before them.
Without Trump the whole world is on a path to disaster.
It’s hard to understand how the usualy reactive American people have not found their back bone and counter-reacted to that pile of effluent and have left the toilet unflushed for such a long time.
Corri, I couldn’t agree more with your comments.
As I mentioned yesterday I have been watching Steve Bannon’s War Room: Bannon was a Trump advisor and he has a number of like people e.g. Peter Navarro and Steve Cortes as guests. The insights into what Biden, a very sick man and an obvious proxy for others, is authorising, is beyond belief. Bannon & Co are working hard to bring the political, economical etc. policies to the concerned people. This group believe that the Republicans, especially the MAGA group will destroy the Democrats in the November mid-term elections: that is if Biden’s handlers do not come up with a mechanism e.g. a new covid wave or some other disease that will enable a lockdown, to either suspend the elections or go to only mail-in voting. We could do with someone like Bannon over here. Farage could have taken on that role but after an almost lifetime’s fight he decided not to continue his crusade: one cannot blame him for that.

Morning Stephenroi,
Purple is the chosen clothing colour traditionally used by those ordained to be in an elevated position.
However, when it reaches the stage when you actually think you are God that it the time to worry as you can see from the photo.
The devil is traditionally pictured carring a symbol of an elevated position but it is not an item of clothing! 😮
For the wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23.
Well one would like to think so! Morning Stephen,

Thank you Geoff!
