  1. Good morning all.
Overnight rain has stopped but still very wet. A tad over 15°C and not a lot of wind.

    1. Presumably the NHS is employing all those highly qualified obstetricians and gynaecologists landing in this country.

    2. Not very inclusive for the 99.99999999999% of women who aren’t mentally ill enough to think they are men.

  2. Good mornng, chums. And thanks, Geoff, for today's new NoTTLe page. I got a Par on today's Wordle.

    1. That's why the photos were published. The PTB had forgotten middle eastern history: Normans, Turks, French, the offspring of Caucasian concubines etc…….

    2. Nominative determinism.

Jihad Al-Shamie, 35, who was shot dead minutes after he targeted Heaton Park Synagogue in Manchester yesterday

  3. Good morning all ,

Wet mild morning , 16c .. Cat was waiting to be let in to the house , she was hunting outside last night .. Her fur is wet , but dislikes being dried with a towel , she is now curled up in Pip's basket after her breakfast, , Pip is asleep upstairs with Moh, his preferred option .

    1. Why is everybody in political office in the UK an arab wog? Is that because of "the slow march through the institutions" or just because almost the entire population of the UK is wog?

    2. …the antisemitic synagogue terror attack and promises protection for Britain’s Jewish community.

Genius! Why should one small long-settled community have to live in fear and be protected from others whom the government have willingly imported in large numbers over recent years?

One of many benefits from the policy of diversity and inclusion.

      1. One of the reasons why I admire Oliver Cromwell.
He undid the harm caused by Edward I – who coincidentally was somewhat in debt after waging useless wars.

    3. The Home Secretary says that her Muslim faith is the most important thing in her life.

I look forward to hearing her announce in public that it is evil and wrong for a Muslim to kill a Jew.

  4. Good soggy morning.
Well, quelle bloody surprise. He was neither a Smith nor a Jones.
Good to see that those taking "British" citizenship are well vetted.

The Manchester synagogue terror attacker has been named as Jihad Al-Shamie.
The 35-year-old British man of Syrian descent was shot dead by police moments after he targeted worshippers at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester shortly before 9:30am.

      3. It's a bit like moving a pig from it's sty to a dog kennel and expecting us to call a a dog.

        1. Lord Emsworth was very fond of his prize sow, the Empress of Blandings, whose corpulence ensured that she always won the Silver medal, (the top prize) at the Fat Pigs Class at the Shropshire Show weighing in far more heavily than Sir Gregory Parsloe-Parsloe's entry, The Queen of Matchingham.

    1. Better late than never, I suppose. Pity they didn't blow him away before he killed people. Better still, he should have been prevented from entering the country in the first place.
What kind of a name is "Jihad"? Was it a clue?

  5. Friday 3 October: Britain must do more to rid itself of the poison of anti-Semitism

One thing that is evident from yesterdays events are that the attacks on Jewish community are not so easy to cover up and gaslight politically and in the mainstream media as these type of attacks on the general public in the bottom tier community.

Another problem I see is all these protected group Isms, just having the one anti-semitism worked okay back in the day before mass migration as a tool to prevent it and to shut up the mainly ethnic British community from noticing certain things.
But it was never envisaged at the time that the Isms would soon multiply after mass immigration and the protected communities would be attacking each other.

As we have seen from the recent party conferences, the only people politicians can safely criticise without reprisals is the ethnic white.

  6. Good morning, all. Wet.

Much, much smaller than TR's September 13th gathering but much, much more violent. What do you notice? No police clad in riot gear.

Coppers exposed to the violence of a mob; isn't it about time the coppers and their "union" had a word with their management – I typed leaders but then saw the error of my thinking – and isn't it time the management prohibited these provocative marches?

The Tories – let us not forget their part in the invasion from across the Channel – and Labour have created a massive problem for themselves (and for the people), i.e. how will the government of the day control mass comings together, possibly in a number of locations, of people behaving in the same manner as those "demonstrating" last night?

    1. No riot gear; far fewer attendees than the UTK march; yet far more arrests. #TwoTierKeir and his #KeirmerRouge have their work cut out to report on these violent far left rioters as 'mostly peaceful'.

  7. Morning, all Y'all.
Nice morning, but 50+ mm rain forecast for tomorrow, wind, tempest… that's screwed what I hoped to do Saturday, so plan B: Tidy the house…

    1. Gumboil, as 'Lord Deben' used to be called, came to Gresham's to present the prizes when Christo was in the VIth Form.

As a schoolmaster I have had to endure a significant number of Speech Day addresses but I can say that the very worst I ever heard was that given by Gumboil.

He spent his time saying that the UK had to stay in the EU and spouting specious propaganda about the environment.

After the prizes had been distributed and when we were having tea in the grounds Christo went and tackled Gumboil and addressed him in fluent French which, as a fanatical supporter of the EU, Gumboil should have understood. But of course he did not and so Christo continued in English saying that he did not agree with his views on either the EU or the environment and that it was a disgrace that Gumboil should use the dais at a school Speech Day as a political platform to corrupt the minds of young people.

The sight of Gumboil literally running away from Christo was made even more comic by the fact that Christo was 6'3" and Gumboil was only 5'2".

A record number of Muslims won seats in Britain’s parliamentary elections despite rising Islamophobia, a major Muslim news outlet reported.

A record-breaking 25 Muslims, up from 19 in 2019, were elected to the House of Commons, the lower house of parliament, said the Muslim Network.

Among those elected, 18 are from the Labour Party, four are independents, two are from the Conservative Party and one is from the Liberal Democrats.

The outlet highlighted that Muslim voters’ support for Gaza significantly influenced the election, with five independent candidates, including four Muslims, winning seats.

Noting that 3.4 million Muslims are living in the country, it said the election marks a significant milestone in the UK’s political landscape, reflecting the increasing diversity and the impact of Muslim communities on British politics.

  9. Quelle Bloody Surprise Mark 2

The Government has responded to the petition you signed – “Do not introduce Digital ID cards”.

    Government responded:

We will introduce a digital ID within this Parliament to help tackle illegal migration, make accessing government services easier, and enable wider efficiencies. We will consult on details soon.

The Government has announced plans to introduce a digital ID system which is fit for the needs of modern Britain. We are committed to making people’s everyday lives easier and more secure, to putting more control in their hands (including over their own data), and to driving growth through harnessing digital technology. We also want to learn from countries which have digitised government services for the benefit of their citizens, in line with our manifesto commitment to modernise government.

Currently, when UK citizens and residents use public services, start a new job, or, for example, buy alcohol, they often need to present an assortment of physical documents to prove who they are or things about themselves. This is both bureaucratic for the individual and creates space for abuse and fraud. This includes known issues with illegal working and modern slavery, while the fragmented approach and multiple systems across Government make it difficult for people to access vital services. Further, there are too many people who are excluded, like the 1 in 10 UK adults who don’t have a physical photo ID, so can struggle to prove who they are and access the products and services they are entitled to.

To tackle these interlinked issues, we will introduce a new national digital ID. This is not a card but a new digital identity that will be available for free to all UK citizens and legal residents aged 16 and over (although we will consider through consultation if this should be age 13 and over). Over time, people will be able to use it to seamlessly access a range of public and private sector services, with the aim of making our everyday lives easier and more secure. It will not be compulsory to obtain a digital ID but it will be mandatory for some applications.

For example, the new digital ID will build on GOV.UK One Login and the GOV.UK Wallet to drive the transformation of public services. Over time, this system will allow people to access government services – such as benefits or tax records – without needing to remember multiple logins or provide physical documents. It will significantly streamline interactions with the state, saving time and reducing frustrating paperwork, while also helping to create opportunities for more joined up government services. International examples show how beneficial this can be. For instance, Estonia’s system reportedly saves each citizen hours every month by streamlining unnecessary bureaucracy, and the move to becoming a digital society has saved taxpayer money.

By the end of this Parliament, employers will have to check the new digital ID when conducting a ‘right to work’ check. This will help combat criminal gangs who promise access to the UK labour market in order to profit from dangerous and illegal channel crossings. It will create a fairer system between UK citizens and legal residents, crack down on forged documents, and streamline the process for employers, driving up compliance. Further, it will create business information showing where employers are conducting checks, so driving more targeted action against non-compliant employers.

For clarity, it will not be a criminal offence to not hold a digital ID and police will not be able to demand to see a digital ID as part of a “stop and search.”

Privacy and security will also be central to the digital ID programme. We will follow data protection law and best practice in creating a system which people can rightly put their trust in. People in the UK already know and trust digital credentials held in their phone wallets to use in their everyday lives, from paying for things to storing boarding passes. The new system will be built on similar technology and be your boarding pass to government. Digitally checkable digital credentials are more secure than physical documents which can be lost, copied or forged, and often mean sharing more information than just what is necessary for a given transaction.
The new system will be designed in accordance with the highest security standards to protect against a comprehensive range of threats, including cyber-attacks.

We will launch a public consultation in the coming weeks and work closely with employers, trade unions, civil society groups and other stakeholders, to co-design the scheme and ensure it is as secure and inclusive as possible. Following consultation, we will seek to bring forward legislation to underpin this system.

    1. "Government responded… For clarity, it will not be a criminal offence to not hold a digital ID and police will not be able to demand to see a digital ID as part of a 'stop and search' ". Want to bet?

    2. For clarity, it will not, to begin with, be a criminal offence to not hold a digital ID and police will not be able to demand to see a digital ID as part of a “stop and search.”

      1. Precisely.
Mission creep. Unless you hold one of these card you will become an "unperson".

        1. I suspect that they'll still be able to access their taxpayer-funded hotels and HMOs and carry on with their deliveroo jobs. After all, if they can get by without a national insurance number and a UK driving licence, why would they bother with a digital ID card?

          1. I was more thinking of folk such as me and my family. Been out of UK since 1998.

    3. Morning Anne ,

I suspect they will be microchipping babies from birth soon .

Seriously though , all migrants should be photo IDeed for facial recognition , as soon as they land on British soil/ sand/tarmac /grass.

      1. DNA, finger prints, retina scan, dental record, and an ankle monitor with curfew until they've been criminally vetted.

    4. This could, and should, be a political open-goal for Farage, Habib and all the other freedom loving parties to exploit. Simply announce that this devious tip of the wedge move to end freedom and install authoritarian control will be immediately repealed. No waffle, a clear commitment is all that is needed.

    5. I had that reply first thing this morning. My immediate thought was “as expected, pure waffle”.
Never mind, I still have the option to make my mark at the ballot box, let’s hope the door smacks you on your ass on your way out of government.

    6. We have an app called BankID here in Norway. It's intention is to provide 3rd party confirmation of your ID when carrying out financial transactions, such as on the internet or bank app. It's really good.
This morning, I needed to login to a website where you can buy & sell small stuff, and needed to prove who I was with bankID even to read the site, not even to go to "My sales" or buy anything.
      So, watch for scope creep!
Once the ID app is there, the temptation to use it will be overwhelming.

  10. Julie Hartley-Brewer in the Sun.
I have filleted out the pictures and other distractions.

WE all know the drill by now.

It’s the same after every terror attack: Politicians express how horrified and shocked they are, people light candles and call for community cohesion, and then we all go back to our daily lives.

    Until the next time.

Sir Keir Starmer was the first politician to express his horror and shock at the attack on a synagogue in Manchester on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, that has left two dead and four seriously injured.

    But why is he shocked?

It was ALWAYS a case of “when” and not “if” Jews would be slaughtered on our streets simply for being Jewish.

This day was always going to come.

And I’m afraid it is Sir Keir Starmer who helped guarantee that it would.

While, at the time of writing, we do not know the identity or exact motives of the killer, I think it’s pretty safe to assume that the man who rammed his car into people outside a synagogue, while armed with knives and what turned out to be a fake suicide belt of explosives, did not choose his targets — or the date of his attack — at random.

    Oxygen of hate

Of course, the Prime Minister didn’t wield the knife or drive the car himself, and, no, I don’t believe he is antisemitic or that he personally wishes harm on any Jew at home or abroad.

Yet it is HIS words and HIS actions as the leader of our country which have fuelled the hatred that inevitably ends with innocent Jews being slaughtered on our streets.

Whoever the Manchester attacker turns out to be — British-born or an immigrant, whether illegal or legal, Muslim or non-Muslim, a lone wolf radicalised on the internet or part of an organised cell — terror attacks don’t happen in a vacuum.

They require the oxygen of hate and lies.

And, boy, has this Government turned on that oxygen tap to the full.

When the British Prime Minister chose to reward Hamas by granting UK recognition of a Palestinian state — even while the terrorists continue to starve and torture 20 hostages in dark tunnels two years on from the October 7 massacre — what message did he think that would send to extremists?

When Starmer’s ministers and MPs spout lies about Israel committing “genocide” in Gaza in a bid to out- virtue-signal each other, what did he expect the outcome to be?

When, for two long years, we have heard non-stop hatred of Israelscreamed on our streets, delivered over the airwaves by the BBC, our state broadcaster, and spewed by MPs in Parliament, what did everyone think would happen?

When Starmer (and, yes, the last Tory government, too) allowed thousands of so-called pro-Palestinians to march through central Londonevery other Saturday, carrying blatantly antisemitic placards and chanting “from the river to the sea” — a Hamas slogan calling for Israel and every Jew to be wiped from the map — with impunity, how did he think that would be seen?

Yes, people have the right to peaceful protest, but silently appeasing open extremism and hatred rarely ends well.

And let’s not forget that the first march to supposedly save innocent Palestinian children in Gaza was being organised on the DAY of the Hamas massacre, while Israeli women were still being raped and mutilated, their children burnt alive in their beds, hostages driven across the border, and before a single Israeli soldier had even set foot in Gaza.

Meanwhile, day after day, the police here in Britain have tolerated blatant acts of antisemitism on our streets and done nothing.

The Community Security Trust, which monitors anti-Jewish abuse, reported 1,521 verbal or physical incidents in just the first six months of this year. That’s 1,521 too many.

When Jewish students are hounded from universities and forced to barricade themselves into safe rooms; when Jews need security guards outside their synagogues and schools; when Jewish children need to hide their faith on their way to and from lessons; when Jews are routinely being abused and assaulted in the street, on buses and trains and their businesses attacked — wasn’t all of that a pretty big clue that something was going horribly wrong?

I’ve lost count of the number of Jewish people who have told me they are making plans to leave Britain because they no longer feel safe here.

They would rather live in Israel, facing a war on their border, than live with hatred on their own doorstep.

Wasn’t that the wake-up call that “Never Again” was turning out to be a hollow slogan, not a solemn pledge?

So, forgive me if I’m not convinced by the PM’s own hollow words before he boarded a plane home from a summit to chair a Cobra emergency meeting and deployed extra police on to the streets, insisting he would do everything he could to keep Jewish people safe in this country.

We all know that simply isn’t true.

This, after all, is a man who happily joined Jeremy Corbyn’s Cabinet and stood silently by while antisemitism engulfed the Labour Party.

    Numbers game

And now, as the Prime Minister faces a drubbing in the polls, Starmer has chosen to do whatever is necessary to appease his left-wing backbenchers and self-appointed Muslim community leaders with the formal recognition of a Palestinian state.

Let’s not mince words here: This isn’t a moral stance or a means to further British interests abroad.

Starmer is simply playing a numbers game to gain as many votes as possible at home from Britain’s four million Muslims — and to hell with the concerns of this country’s 290,000 Jews.

Despite all his hand-wringing about October 7, Starmer has chosen to appease the very same extremists and dangerous ideology responsible for that horror.

As every historian worth their salt will tell you, when the tide of antisemitism rises in any country, it’s not just bad for Jews, it’s a symptom of a rot deep in the core of our political system.

That’s why no one should be shocked by this terror attack on a Manchester synagogue — least of all our Prime Minister, who has acted to reward antisemites abroad and to appease anti-Jewish hatred at home.

So, Starmer can go ahead and light a candle then deliver that oh-so-familiar call for us to all stand together in the face of extremism.

But we all know that, in the end, it is actions that speak louder than words.

      1. Sonny Boy Sir sent it to me.
Surprisingly long article for the Sun.
But maybe I'm unused to reading it.

    1. Sorry Julia Hartley-Brewer.. you're so rear view mirror.
      Behind the curve.
      Shift the narrative please.
Introduce a pair of numbers. Open for discussion.
      Starting at say, 650,000/0.

Number of mass deportations of the mental Islams: 650,000
Number of mental Islams permitted in positions of power: 0

Go on Julia start the "conservation."

    2. Morning Anne ,

Freedom of speech is what we treasure , but we don't need the ignorant masses marching for Gaza here in the UK, which is a troublesome cause.. no one wants the relics of the late Yasser Arafat and his mendacious nastiness and legacy aimed at Israel .. yes it was Israel who created an oasis of fruitfulness and economic brilliance on the edge of an arid desert , using their skills and intelligence to create something that Arab Muslims envy .

      1. Good morning, Maggiebelle

Desert remained desert until the Jewish state arrived; in the same way arid desert in Rhodesia remained arid desert until people like my uncle and cousins arrived and turned desert into profitable and productive farms.

Just as Rhodesia is reverting to arid desert since Mugabe's destruction of white-run farms so Israel would revert to arid desert if the Jewish state ceased to exist.

    3. I would bet serious money that the net contribution of the country’s 290,000 Jews exceeds the net contribution of the country's 4 million Muslims.

      1. I'd be willing to bet that the Jewish contribution exceeds the Muslim quite a few-fold. My guess would be above 3.0.

in contrast, I'd estimate that the relative likelihood of being attacked by a Muslim compared to a Jew exceeds 500.

        1. I would also bet that the Muslim population combined contribution vs benefits taken means they are net takers.

      2. The government could instruct HMRC to do some 'data mining' to confirm or deny your suspicion! There is a Russian-born immigrant called Alex Gerko who has developed some investment trading wizardry who has paid hundreds of millions in income tax; it is possible that he alone has contributed more in tax than the rest of the entire cohort of immigrants who have hit the UK over the last 25 years.

        1. I would also not be surprised if that Russian has contributed more than the net contribution of all the Muslim arrivals over the last 10 years, but I also suspect there are many other non Muslim individuals who have done so too.

  11. I posted this earlier..

    Jihad Al-Shamie.
Clue: A literal translation is.. an Islamic terrorist from the region of Sham (Syria).

    1. I am so sick of this.
We have a governing class and its apparatchiks who constantly lie and absolutely hate this country and its people.
That hatred is reciprocated in spades.

    2. The mythical far-right English jew-haters. Who are they? Do they actually exist? I really don’t think so. They must think we are stupid.

      1. Of course Hitler was anti-Semitic but the mistake that everyone makes is to say that this National Socialist German Workers' Party was right wing: Hitler was extreme left wing. Stalin too was anti-Semitic.

The Left is systematically anti-Semitic; the Right is not.

    3. The BBC is not 'fit for purpose when it deliberately refuses to tell the truth. Both Farage and what is left of the Conservative Party should commit themselves to remove the licence fee and all government support if they come to power.

There can be very few sapient people who are not fully aware that the greatest danger to Jews comes from the extreme left and radical Islamists.

  12. ..came to the UK from Syria as a young child and grew up just around the corner from the site of the attack.

As David Starkey says.. "they believe the moment Mohammad sets foot on our soil.. they instantly want to drink coca cola, wear short skirts and watch reruns of Friends."

    1. The Home Secretary on R4 this morning was trying to persuade us that the blame for the attack is on the murderer himself and no one else. What she seems to have missed is that as the attack has been classed as "terrorist", his motivation is thus defined by the CPS as "The use or threat must also be for the purpose of advancing a political, religious, racial or ideological cause." It seems rather incomprehensible as to why the HS refuses to mention that islam is the fundamental ideological cause of the attack. Oh hang on, she has said that her faith defines her. Seems like that elephant is not going to be moving out of the room anytime soon. https://www.cps.gov.uk/crime-info/terrorism

  13. "Kemi Badenoch's climate shakeup

    Andy Mayer, CapX

The Conservatives announced today that if they were to form a government at the next general election, they would scrap or reform the Climate Change Act. This could prove a positive move. To get people on board with decarbonisation, we have to ditch the ideological climate absolutism."

What on earth does this mean?

It means, to me, that we are an indecisive dithering bunch of politicos!

    Scrap it!

      1. The 2008 Climate Change Act brought it in, under Snotty McDoom and Miliband of Soros charity fame; Saggy May upped the ante and Miliband Minor thinks all his Christmases have come at once. GB Energy is PFI 2.0

        1. That's what I thought. But the car is loaded up with 13 bags of garden waste so it has to go. At least I got that done while it was dry.

  14. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-15157471/No-wonder-Jews-live-fear-PATRICK-CHRISTYS.html

No wonder Jews live in fear, says PATRICK CHRISTYS

Terrorism has come to my home city – again. This time with the attempted mass slaughter of Jews at a place of worship on the holiest day in their calendar.

I am horrified. But as a Mancunian, I must also tell you I’m not surprised at what is happening here in Manchester.

We’ve watched this outrage building, inexorably. Just as we’ve watched the old Manchester slip away and a new, divided and more radical city take its place.

Sure, like much of the North West, Manchester has a long tradition of being culturally mixed.

Even in the 2000s, the streets around my secondary school, Manchester Grammar, were filled with the sights and sounds of life in faraway places, the Middle East and Pakistan in particular.

The city’s varied make-up included then – as now – the largest Jewish community outside London, with a population today of 30,000 or more.

Yet in a few short decades I’ve seen a startling change. There has been little short of a demographic revolution in Manchester. Small enclaves have become whole districts where you might not hear English spoken.

People from the Middle East and South Asia abound. Major roads are closed for Pakistan Independence Day – which would have been unthinkable when I was at school. My Jewish friends tell me such celebrations are a no-go zone.

Some 22.3 per cent of the city’s population were Muslim according to the 2021 census – which is to say more than 120,000 in a population of 550,000. And the numbers have grown since then. Manchester is still majority white, but at 57 per cent, only just.

The change in mood is palpable, too.The famous Christmas markets are patrolled by armed police. There are bollards to prevent Islamists, or other terrorists, driving cars into crowds of people. Greater Manchester Police issues statements telling people to ‘be vigilant’ as they do their shopping.

And it is Manchester’s Jews in particular who live under a spectre of fear. And no wonder. Just hours after the killing, apparently heedless of Manchester’s suffering, a group of pro-Palestine protesters descended on the city centre, chanting and carrying banners attacking Israel.

Events at my old school are telling. Manchester Grammar, just a few miles from yesterday’s attack, has always had a large contingent of Jewish pupils.

Jews around Manchester had stayed at home yesterday ¿ even before news of the attack. And this on the holiest day in their calendar… because they didn¿t want to be killed while practising their faith. Pictured: A pro-Palestinian march yesterday
Jews around Manchester had stayed at home yesterday – even before news of the attack. And this on the holiest day in their calendar… because they didn’t want to be killed while practising their faith. Pictured: A pro-Palestinian march yesterday
Scuffles erupt at pro-Palestine rally in Manchester hours after attack

But never in my time did they feel the need to remove their kippahs – skull caps – for fear of attack. Or to hide their faces on the bus.

I spoke to a former teacher who told me that some Jewish parents are no longer choosing to send their children to Manchester Grammar. They are sending them to King David High – an Orthodox Jewish school – instead.

Why? Because, with tensions mounting since the October 7 attack, they believe there are greater security measures there.

Parents fear their children might be physically attacked or racially abused going to school. So they choose to put a metaphorical ring of steel around them and enrol at a Jewish school.

I spoke to a Jewish friend of mine who lives a few minutes from the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue, where the attack took place. He had his Bar Mitzvah there.

Yesterday, he said this: ‘Does anybody ever stop and ask, “Why do Jews need security at synagogues”? Because the answer is obvious – we have to live with the threat of Islamic extremism every single day.

‘We’ve had swastikas on Jewish gravestones. Jewish shops have been attacked.

‘The Jews in Manchester have been here for a long time. By and large, we’ve all integrated. We pay our taxes and we work hard. So the diversity brigade doesn’t class us as vulnerable. But we are – we’re the most vulnerable.

‘My friend’s grandfather was injured in yesterday’s attack.’

He told me that Jews around Manchester had stayed at home yesterday – even before news of the attack. And this on the holiest day in their calendar… because they didn’t want to be killed while practising their faith.

One of my best friends, who also had his Bar Mitzvah at Heaton Park, told me of a cousin who wears the kippah. He routinely has anti-Semitic slurs hurled at him from passing cars.

Another Jewish lad I went to school with works for the National Health Service. He won’t tell anyone he’s Jewish. He hides his faith. Why? Because he’s worried about being discriminated against by both patients and staff. Yes, NHS staff.

And he’s worried with good reason. It’s not long since relatives of a Jewish boy receiving treatment at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital for a rare blood disorder complained he was booted out of his bed by nurses wearing pro-Palestine badges.

He was told to lie on the floor instead, allegedly because he looked ‘visibly Jewish’.

I spoke to another Jewish friend in Manchester yesterday, who said: ‘That’s it, we’ve had enough, we’re moving to America.’

Why aren’t we waking up to this? Jews are leaving. They are – and have always been – the canary in the coal mine.

Another of my Mancunian friends said yesterday morning: ‘When October 7 happened, we Jews didn’t blame, say, the Egyptians – because we were able to distinguish between Hamas terrorists, and ordinary Muslims.

‘But for us, it’s different. People round here from the large Pakistani or Syrian communities, or from other nationalities from around that region, just see all Jews as being responsible for everything the Israel Defence Forces do.’

Manchester has been rocked by terrorism before. We all remember where we were when we heard that Salman Abedi, the jihadi son of Libyan parents, had detonated a rucksack of explosives in the foyer of Manchester Arena in 2017.

It turned out that security staff failed to approach him because they didn’t want to seem ‘racist’.

The Oasis song Don’t Look Back in Anger became the unofficial anthem in the wake of that attack.

We were told to stand up to racism. We were told that diversity is our greatest strength.

But what attempts have there been since then to deal with radical extremism in Manchester? None that I can see. And the anger is growing.

‘Sir Keir Starmer can save his platitudes,’ says the mother of one of my best friends, whose family attend the Heaton Park synagogue. ‘He is a weak leader, and weak leaders create weak countries. People with his political views and ideology have emboldened lunatics who want to kill us.

‘Jews from Manchester could set up a colony on the moon and they’d still come for us.’

It’s not just Jews from Manchester who are suffering.

As I write this, I’m looking out of my window in London and see Jewish families – men, women, children, little babies – make their way towards the synagogue at the end of my road.

They are being escorted by security guards.

Four police officers are waiting for them at the entrance. Another police car is parked just around the corner.

Like many, I find myself asking: how did it come to this in Britain?

The answer, I’m afraid, is that we let the problem in. And then we let it fester.

I can’t help feeling that this great country of ours has let our Jews down. Badly. They deserve better than this.

Don’t Look Back in Anger just won’t cut it any more.

Patrick Christys Tonight, 9-11pm daily on GB News

    1. The Government of this country has let us all down. Not just the Jews but us English people too. We are being outnumbered in our own country.

      1. Yes and we are being bullied , and called right wing and racist … How on earth can we become victims in our own country , why should we be silenced ?

There isn't a single, precise figure for the total number of destroyed churches in Britain, but sources highlight that over 150 churches suffered arson attacks in the past five years, and roughly 6,000 church buildings have closed over the last 60 years due to declining faith, leading to the sale and repurposing of many.

Criminal Damage: Data from the Countryside Alliance also indicates that 11,412 cases of criminal damage and arson were recorded across UK churches between 2017 and 2024.

They were once at the heart of almost every community across Britain, with their stunning architecture a great reminder of this country's rich tapestry of history.

But more than 3,500 churches have shut across the UK over the past decade, with many now crumbling wrecks which can no longer be saved and face demolition.

With church attendance having plummeted in recent decades and the repair bills simply too high, some of these beautiful buildings are simply locked up and unused.

        1. We live in a fascist state. Plod, the Judiciary, Charities, Quangos – all doing the State’s bidding, implementing their policies. There is no opposition- that which there is, is hunted down, arrested and jailed where possible. We are surveilled 24/7 and punished disproportionately for minor infractions. Unbelievable that it should come to this.

        2. Like the church I grew up with. Now closed and crumbling. The village has masses of new housing but still the church was closed. I think they have to maintain the graveyard.

      2. Yes and we are being bullied , and called right wing and racist … How on earth can we become victims in our own country , why should we be silenced ?

    2. The anti Semitic prime minister is married to a Jewish woman.

The most anti-white member of the government, David Lammy, is married to a white woman.

How can anybody expect people like this to have white British people's best interests at heart when their own racial hatred even extends to their own spouses?

      1. Isn't the prime Brexiteer Nigel Farage married to a German and now shacked up with a Frenchwoman?

      2. Strictly speaking, I'd not sure she is Jewish.
Her Jewish father married a gentile woman who converted to Judaism.
As Jewishness is matrilineal, I'm not sure where that places Lady Sponger.

    3. The anti Semitic prime minister is married to a Jewish woman.

The most anti-white member of the government, David Lammy, is married to a white woman.

How can anybody expect people like this to have white British people's best interests at heart when their own racial hatred even extends to their own spouses?

    1. This was wonderful. I don't think they realize that Tommy commands millions, Farage doesn't, which of the two could call the people to the streets? Which could shut down London if he wished to? Tommy is the true leader of the English. They cannot sabotage Tommy, it's a waste of time. What I fear that if they put him back in jail he could be murdered and, at this juncture, I suspect the establishment would be delighted at such an outcome.

    1. After Parliament passed the slave trade act in 1807 the Royal Navy set the West Africa squadron to prevent the atlantic slave trade .Between 1808 and 1860 over 1600 slave ships were captured and over 150,000 african slaves freed.
13% of the Royal Navys manpower went to the West African Squadron. In one year over 25% of the personnel were casualties mainly from disease. The total cost of suppression of the slave trade in the 19th century exceeded the profits made from slavery in the 18th century.
On a side note the Royal Navy spent about 20 years during and after the Napoleonic wars suppressing Wahabi Islamic fanatics who were attacking friendly Arab states, enslaving the people and committing all sorts of atrocities including piracy.

    2. But, by the tenets of Critical Theory, that does not count.
You are only allowed to talk about things that damage Britain's reputation and to ignore the positive aspects of the country.

      1. Sad, but true. Leftists hate history, facts and evidence because it doesn't match their psychotic, arrogant self righteousness.

    3. And the enslavement of White people, by the Turks, did not end until the middle of the 19th. century. So I learnt last night. So it seems we have paid up but they haven't paid for enslaving us. I feel entitlement coming on and the oppression my ancestors were subject to. Gimmie money!

British Jews don’t strap bombs to ourselves and blow up kids at concerts.

British Jews don’t drive cars into civilians or police before getting out to stab them.

British Jews don’t blow ourselves up on the London Underground.

British Jews don’t detonate ourselves on Central London buses.

British Jews don’t strap knives to our wrists and rampage through London’s markets massacring revellers.

British Jews don’t hack British soldiers head’s off on our streets.

British Jews don’t drive Jeeps loaded with propane canisters into Glasgow Airport.

British Jews don’t stab people at Victoria station while shouting Jewish slogans.

British Jews don’t stab multiple people in Forbury Gardens while shouting “God is Great”

British Jews don’t stab MPs during constituency surgeries.

British Jews don’t detonate homemade bombs in taxis near Women’s Hospitals.

    We love being British.

It’s why we’re told from a young age that we’re British Jews. Not Jewish Brits.

    Our marches wave Union flags.

We say a prayer for the King and Royal Family in our sabbath services and religious festivals.

We sing God Save The King at our weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs.

    UK society has been gaslit.

You’re looking in the wrong direction.

    1. Leftists cannot permit open discussion of the horrors of muslim. As soon as that happens muslim is done for, as is the Leftist cause.

      1. The whole point of the new definition of Islamophobia is to eradicate any discussion of the horrors inflicted upon the world by Islam.

And it is not just in the UK. Swathes of Islamic murderers are working their way south in Africa massacring Christians as they go.

    2. We all know. And that is why the greater majority of us detest our establishment for the direction they have taken our once great country.

      1. We should all be allowed to carry guns.
Licensed and below military grade level. Nobody, except the military on the battle field, needs automatic multi-shooting weapons.
As was the case until about 30 years ago. I don't remember living in a state of fear over being shot before Dunblane. (And why are the records sealed for 100 years?)

        1. I agree Anne. People in the UK always go on about the Americans and their guns but the truth is that in those states that have ‘carry laws’ there are far less murders or criminal acts that in those states who have restricted gun ownership. I never had a gun in the USA but I felt much safer there than I do here. Now I would like to have a gun.

          1. As an old friend and lifetime NRA member put it, "An armed society is a polite society".

The state where I live now is very tolerant, gun wise, and attracts hunters from all of the region. But we have a very low violent crime rate. My opinion is that it is that way because we do not offer generous handouts which attract certain demographics, unlike some other especially Democratic states, where of course the tax burden is also much higher. Someone has to pay for all that "generosity".

All in all, a nice place to live.

  16. Good Morning!

In Dichotomy Part 5 – Cricket As Education , John Drewry continues his delightful tale of two boys' journey across a futuristic but rural Britannia restored to health and sanity after the catastrophic rule of the Killjoys. In this episode, the game of cricket is used as a metaphor for life, and defined in a way those innocent of the game can appreciate.

With George Galloway arrested and Tommy Robinson soon in court under Terrorism Laws, the British State is embracing full on totalitarianism. We tell the story in The Terror Police and urge everyone to take a stand against it. If you don't, they'll soon be coming for you.

Energy Watch: Over the last 24 hours: Britain's average power requirement was 32 GW, sourced from Gas, 19.8%; Solar, 3.3%: Wind 43.8%; Imports, 13.9%; Biomass, 7.8%; Nuclear 7.8% and Miscellaneous, 3.6%.

The Regime has made it clear that they will introduce Digital ID come what may. We therefore need to move on to the next phase: I WILL NOT COMPLY.

    1. Love Art Galleries.. I luv me art, i do.
Manchester has some great works to view, but let's see what events & exhibitions the curator has lined up.

      Climate Justice
We are using the gallery to explore how art and collections can help people learn from history, shape the future, scrutinise decision-making and encourage caring, collective action.

      Rethinking the Grand Tour
Beneath the refinement of the Grand Tour is a story of empire and cultural appropriation. As the scope of European tourism extended to the Middle East and Asia, a colonial viewpoint prevailed. Artefacts were taken back home in private collections and were later acquired by museums. Manchester Art Gallery maintained this classical fantasy, purchasing Grand Tour artworks during the mid 1900s.

Surprised the Lefties in charge haven't carted off and crated these dinosaur artists like Waterhouse and propelled some pisspoor BLM/Islamic perma-student onto the world scene. LOL

      1. The last time I was in London (November, 2019) I spent an afternoon each in The National Portrait Gallery and The Wallace Collection. Wonderfully memorable.

    2. For me, this has long epitomised the height of female beauty, which is perhaps the artist's intention.

I remember a shampoo advertisement in 1975 which reproduced this image using contemporary models. I swear one of them was in the same university hall of residence as I was, and I was constantly and secretly smitten with her all time I was there. Such is the power of teenage hormonery that once when her hair brushed against me, I was savouring the moment for days. She of course was completely oblivious.

The twist of fate was that my first proper girlfriend, whom I was with for seven years when she was not on her travels, was French and also closely resembled one of these nymphs. I telephoned her earlier this year when my mother died, and even though she is now in her late sixties, she still does. Like Greta Garbo though, she chooses to live alone.

      1. "She of course was completely oblivious."
I wouldn't be so sure of that, Jeremy. Girls know well the effect they have on others – that's why they dress and paint themselves the way they do.

        1. This one didn’t paint herself at all – completely natural. This was the era before tattoos and after lipstick. I cannot remember how she dressed. That was not important to me. Standard 1970s student gear. Of course Hylas’s nymphs are wearing their Sunday best – waterproof, lasts a lifetime, very beautiful and self-repairing.

I did notice a couple of extremely beautiful women who were quite open about it. One was Dr Charlotte Uhlenbroek, who once went one-up on Attenborough and seduced a silverback by chewing on a leaf suggestively and demurely, which is how gorillas like it. The other was the surveyor of old buildings Marianne Suhr, who assembled a male harem of pretty well everyone in the trade eager and willing to work for her just for the pleasure of her company. The other is of course the Princess of Wales, but she already has her handsome prince.

I have the advantage of being completely invisible to attractive females. They have their own fantasies. I don’t recall Gandalf ever having it on with Galadriel.

      1. Shameless pro-Palestine activists have sparked outrage after staging 'disrespectful' and 'fundamentally un-British' rallies hours after a barbaric terror attack at a synagogue.

Hundreds attended rallies outside of Downing Street chanting for 'free free Palestine' – as Britain's Jewish community were in mourning after Thursday's atrocity, in which two people were killed.

The terrorist, Jihad Al-Shamie, 35, was shot dead minutes after he targeted Heaton Park Synagogue yesterday. He is is understood to have been granted British citizenship in 2006 when he was a teenager, aged around 16.
His innocent victims have been named as Adrian Daulby, 53, and Melvin Cravitz, 66. They were both members of Manchester's Jewish population.

However, in a staggering display of disdain for the victims, one woman attending a march last night raged she 'doesn't give a f*** about the Jewish community'.

In London, activists were seen clashing with police as the rally outside Number 10 descended into mayhem, with 40 people arrested – including six for allegedly assaulting police officers, the Metropolitan Police said.

While in Manchester, just four miles away from the Heaton Park Synagogue atrocity, hundreds of pro-Palestine supporters marched on Manchester Piccadilly Station, waving Palestinian flags, banging drums and chanting.

One banner carried by activists also read: 'Israel is guilty of genocide, massacre, ethnic cleansing of Palestinian children and babies.'

As anger continues to boil over this morning, the Home Secretary has urged pro-Palestine activists to step back 'for at least a few days' and postpone demonstrations over the weekend.

Speaking to Sky News this morning, Shabana Mahmood said those who gathered after the attack were behaving in a 'fundamentally un-British' and 'dishonourable' way.
And with further protests on the horizon, Ms Mahmood urged those who plan on protesting to show 'some humanity' and 'give the Jewish community here a chance to process what has happened'.

As she called on protestors to allow Jews to 'begin the grieving process', the Home Secretary told GB News: 'I am very disappointed that some of the organisers haven't heeded the call to step back.

'I would still call on people to show some love and some solidarity to the families of those who have been murdered and to our Jewish community.'

Saturday could see one of the largest-ever gatherings at Trafalgar Square in central London in support of Palestine Action, which was proscribed as a terror group in July. More than 1,500 people have pledged to descend on London in support of the group, risking arrest as they do so.

Their action will come less than a week after 66 people were arrested at a protest for supporting Palestine Action during the first day of Labour's party conference in Liverpool.

The Chief Rabbi said so many people in the Jewish community 'and well beyond it' and urged the government to 'get a grip' on pro-Palestine protests.

Sir Ephraim Mirvis told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: 'We call on the government yet again, we have been doing so continuously and yet again we say get a grip on these demonstrations, they are dangerous.”
He added: 'Ever since October 7 2023, there are so many people in our Jewish community and beyond it who have wondered why are such marches allowed to take place on our streets?

'Some of them contain outright antisemitism, outright support for Hamas. Not every single person, however there is so much of this, which certainly is dangerous to many within our society.'

The Chief Rabbi – the most senior religious figure of Britain's Jewish community – said some of the rallies contained 'outright antisemitism, outright support for Hamas'.

'You cannot separate the words on our streets, the actions of people in this way, and what inevitably results, which was yesterday's terrorist attack,' he added.

'The two are directly linked and therefore we call on the Government yet again, we've been doing so continuously, and yet again we say get a grip on these demonstrations, they are dangerous.'

The Met has written to protest group Defend Our Juries, which plans to hold a march on Saturday, pleading for it to postpone it in the wake of the terror attack in Crumpsall.

A letter from the force shared by Defend Our Juries raised fears about the amount of police resources the protest would divert at a time when 'visible reassurance and protective security' is needed in communities across London.

But the protest group, which has led demonstrations against the terrorist ban on Palestine Action, has defiantly railed against the call.

'Today, the Metropolitan Police wrote to us to ask that we postpone Saturday's mass protest in Trafalgar Square, citing 'significant pressure on policing',' the group said on social media site, X.

'Our response in short: Don't arrest us then.'
But in a fiery response, the Met hit back at the campaign group, accusing it of trying to 'encourage mass law breaking'.

The force tweeted: 'The horrific terrorist attack that took place in Manchester yesterday will have caused significant fear and concern in communities across the UK, including here in London. Yet at a time when we want to be deploying every available officer to ensure the safety of those communities, we are instead having to plan for a gathering of more than 1,000 people in Trafalgar Square on Saturday in support of a terrorist organisation.

'By choosing to encourage mass law breaking on this scale, Defend Our Juries are drawing resources away from the communities of London at a time when they are needed most. We urge them to do the responsible thing and delay or cancel their plans.'

Yesterday's marches at Parliament Square saw clashes with police, with officers from the Met scuffling with protesters – some of whom wore face masks and scarves, while one person was pictured being escorted away outside Parliament.

The timing of the protest, which also took place on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, sparked fury from politicians and Antisemitism campaigners, including leader of the London Assembly Susan Hall who described the march in central London as 'disgraceful, disrespectful, despicable behaviour'.

Alex Hearn, co-director of Labour Against Antisemitism, also described the marches as 'tone deaf' and an 'unacceptable state of affairs that needs to be stopped for the public order'.

This morning, Robert Jenrick the shadow justice secretary, called on protesters to 'go home' and 'do the right thing'.

The Conservative MP branded the marches on the same day as the terror attack in Manchester 'shameful' and 'totally disrespectful'.

Asked on Times Radio what his message was to the pro-Palestine protesters, he said: 'Do the decent thing, go home.

'I thought it was shameful, totally disrespectful that you had people out on the streets, even in Manchester for goodness' sake.'

He added: 'There's a right to peacefully protest, please just as British citizens, show some respect.'

The marches came just hours after two men died in the terror attack, who were this morning named as Adrian Daulby, 53, and Melvin Cravitz, 66, both of whom were from Crumpsall.
Greater Manchester Police last night named the suspect, who was shot dead by armed police in the attack, as 35-year-old Jihad Al-Shamie.

They said he is a British citizen of Syrian descent and police added that they are 'working to understand the motivation', with the attack being treated as terror-related.

The Daily Mail revealed this morning that Al-Shamie came to the UK from Syria as a young child and grew up just around the corner from the site of the attack.

He had not been referred to the Government's anti-terror programme Prevent or was known to police or the security services, Ms Mahmood said yesterday.

Ms Mahmood said she was was 'surprised' by Al-Shamie's name when interviewed on LBC.

The Home Secretary was asked about the attacker's name, Jihad Al-Shamie, which presenter Nick Ferrari translated as 'struggle of the Syrian'.

She responded: 'I was very surprised to discover that name myself. Actually, as a Muslim, I've never heard someone being called Jihad, but it is the name that he was born with – that has always been his name.'

Police have also arrested two men aged in their 30s and a woman in her 60s on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack.

The attack, which took place on Yom Kippur – the holiest day in the Jewish calendar – saw a car driven at members of the public before the attacker emerged and started stabbing those congregated outside.
Sir Keir Starmer warned that anti-Semitism is 'a hatred rising once again' yesterday in the wake of the attack as he condemned the sickening violence in an address to the nation.

But he faced criticism from the government of Israel after the attack, which came less than a fortnight after the UK recognised a Palestinian state in a bid to force a ceasefire in Gaza.

Defending the Prime Minister, Ms Mahmood rejected the notion that recognising Palestine has emboldened those who are anti-semitic.

Speaking on Times Radio, she said: 'The only person responsible for this devastating attack on our Jewish community is the attacker himself.

'The police have made three additional arrests, and it's important that they are allowed to continue with their investigations and our process of justice is allowed to take its course. That is separate to what is happening in the Middle East.

'The work of this Government since the day we were elected has been to put our shoulder to the wheel in the diplomatic efforts in difficult and delicate conversations that are designed to try and bring an end to that devastating war.

'Far too many lives have been lost. We want to see a secure and safe state of Israel alongside a state of Palestine.'

        1. Thanks, sos. So the slammer Home Secretary cannot bring herself to say that slammers are responsible for murder. Funny that.

      2. There is much more in the way of pictures and captions but the gist is below.
        A long article.

      3. She says: "Speaking to Sky News, Shabana Mahmood said those who gathered after the attack were behaving in a 'fundamentally un-British' and 'dishonourable' way." That is the gist of it with lots of photos. But what bothers me is she takes it upon herself to decide what is British and what is not. I do not think she has any qualification to speak about that. What is worse is she claims herself 'English', she most decidedly isn't. If she goes home it is not to England but to another country who's bigoted religion she claims guides her life. A religion totally alien and incompatible with being a true English person. In my opinion she has no right to hold the offices in government she has. All senior posts in the British government should be held by native Englishmen, Scots, Welsh or Irish. The Mahmoods of this country are not to be trusted.

        1. WTF does she know about being British? Let alone being English.
This is a practising Moslem; adherent of a religion that is totally hostile to western, Christianity based cultures.

    1. Oh come on, Wibbles, be fair – they wrote a letter "pleading" with them not to march.

  17. 413769+ up ticks,

There is, apparently, a resurgence of Christianity in the young, they are going to the Evangelicals and the Roman Church. Not surprising. Why would one bother to go to the Anglican Church if one wants to practice and be taught Christianity? All you are going to get from them is Wokery.
Must retract my remark about being a Lesbian. She actually has a kid and a marriage to, wait for it, a man!

    2. Let us pray that she has the courage to stop kowtowing to Islam and to speak out against blasphemy laws specific to protect that foul system of conquest from examination and criticism.

I won't hold my breath between prayers.

    3. Absolutely disgraceful. Why wasn't Lammy chosen? He has all the attributes – or thought he did when he was appointed Lord Chancellor. He believed he had transitioned to the opposite sex when he donned the regal hairpiece, peruke, of office. But he made the mistake of not declaring himself a Mooslym. A necessary prerequisite for high office in the Church of England.

  18. Morning all! Gloomy day and damp.

I'm sure what has happened in Manchester and the response of the pro Hamas mob last night, rioting in London, Manchester, Glasgow and several other places, bothers most of us. More than anything I would like the police to be properly armed and thus make it clear to these animals that we, the majority are not on their side. Alex Phillips Claim's that she has been told by reliable sources that this is just the beginning and much worse is planned. Lets hope she is wrong.

    1. The trouble with having an armed police is that many of today's policemen and policewomen seem to be against the indigenous white population.

      1. Properly armed does not necessarily mean a gun. I was actually thinking of a good old truncheon, bean bags, plastic bullets and gas.

    1. Was that his given name or a pseudonym? If it was his real name then his parents need expelling or shooting too.

      1. He'll no doubt have various accounts online, should give some clues. Would have thought a special unit/s affiliated to MI5/6 be all over these issues. Wake up, government, wake up.

    2. We now know he killed just one. Two, including Jihad, were killed by Greater Manchester Police.

  19. Morning all,

William says he's excited for the opportunity to make changes.
However he qualifies this by saying that the changes must be made for good. Today it is clear that Labour promised to make changes and these have resulted in evil.

However I get the impression that William wants to make changes to the monarchy and make things better by scrapping a lot of dressing up in fancy togs and performing ancient rituals.

What a lot of people don't realise that these ancient rituals have a meaning that can only be understood by knowing how the United Kingdom came to get its current government and it's all based on how Charles I got his head chopped off.

      1. In this world, being strong and macho is seen as a vice whereas being touchy-feely to any woke cause will thrill the present generation. So woke it is for Willie, although following Uncle Andrew's example might be a bit much.

    1. The reason Americans, as one segment of the tourists who are attracted to London, is the pomp and ceremony of the monarchy. Having a King on oficial duties in jeans and a hoodie is not going to attract too many tourists.

      1. There are some concerns that all this pomp and ceremenony for the tourists is just a kind of Disneyland.

One tourist is recorded as having asked a beefeater it the Tower of London was a newbuild.

    2. His paternal grandfather predicted that the monarchy would die when, Charles, his eldest son became king.

But if the monarchy still exists when William ascends then perhaps he will disinherit George, Charlotte and Louis and abdicate in favour of his brother, Harry.

What larks! (as Pip's Uncle Joe Gargery might have said) when Meghan becomes our queen!

      1. Perhaps Trump will then buy England to ‘drill baby drill’ instead of ‘build baby build’.

  20. Christians and Jews

As an avowed Atheist, I have to stand up and say this. NB I have worked FOR and WITH Jews, and always found them smart and hard-working. Indeed, to quote Wikipedia: Of the 965 individual recipients of the Nobel Prize and the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences between 1901 and 2023, at least 216 have been Jews or people with at least one Jewish parent, representing 22% of all recipients. Jews constitute only 0.2% of the world's population, meaning their share of winners is 110 times their proportion of the world's population.

As of now, there are approximately 2.38 billion Christians worldwide, making up about one-third of the global population. Christianity remains the world's largest religion, with various denominations, the largest being the Catholic Church, which has about 1.2 billion members. Other estimates suggest the number could be as high as 2.6 billion.

The prophet Jesus Christ was born to a Jewish mother, circumcised and raised as a Jew, preached in Synagogue and had exclusively Jewish apostles. Why do so many people profess Christianity, yet have secret suspicion or even hatred of Jews and Judaism?

    Beats me.

    1. How Odd of God to choose the Jews!

But not so odd as those who choose a Jewish God but spurn the Jews!

      1. Well I was always told that he chose the Jews because they would become part of the Roman Empire and so Christianity would extend all over Europe Asia and eventually with European colonialism all over the world. Because God could see into the future

        1. When we explained to our children that God was omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent Henry asked if he was, like his brother, all over the place!

Christo asked if he was also omnivorous and, like his brother, would swallow everything.

  21. So The Midwife is to be Sarah Cantuar.

The worldwide Anglican Communion has already rejected the authority of the Archbishop of Canterbury, as they couldn’t stomach Welby even when he tried to bribe them with financial incentives. It seems unlikely they’ll change their minds now. The irony of course is that the British Empire taught them the Gospel.

One of the dubious pleasures of attending a City church is that one gets to hear our Lord Bishop of London preach. “The Shack” is an American popular trash novella of the shallow sentimental kind that would once have been serialised in a girly magazine. Dame Sarah is not only a fan but thinks it worthy of a sermon.

Her recent speech in the House of Lords opposing the murder bill gives a flicker of hope. Just a flicker. But the other candidates were much worse.

  22. Reform wins whopping six by-elections overnight
Wigan Central then fell from Labour to Reform, again with the party securing 47.2% of the vote despite not standing the last time the ward was fought.
Reform UK won all three of the Harrietsham, Lenham & North Downs wards by a country mile.

    Wigan! That's Lisa Nandy's backyard?
"Clearly we didn't call them rathcitht enough timeth."

    1. Cmon Farage.. up the mass deportation numbers & get the Islams out of the government offices.
      And that's just for starters.

    1. A resident of Royston Vasey? A local church for local people. 😁.
The previous incumbent of the role was a hand-wringing limp lettuce, but this one …..

  23. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood bans marches the Islamists don’t like.
.. but suddenly “she didn’t have the power to ban upcoming Pro-Palestine protests".

    1. She should just ban all demos for now, whatever the cause.
I used to go on animal rights demos in London – they were always good fun, good company and nothing like the hate marches. But I wouldn't want to go there now.

  24. Good morning. We're off to one of these 'wedding weekends' which cost a couple and their parents a small fortune. It's not dog friendly which pisses me off hugely. The bride is a sort of goddaughter to me and I'm pretty much forced to go. Oscar is going up the hill to a friend and his wife who lost their dog last year. He's never spent a night away from a family member. Wish us luck at the Manor. Oh, some of the frolicking and the ceremony was meant to be outside tomorrow afternoon.

    1. Oscar needs an item of your clothing to comfort him. Smelly socks or dirty underpants.

      1. I tried giving him a shoe he usually covets, but he ignored it disdainfully. Richard sent me a photo of Oscar with a very tatty looking slipper dangling from his mouth. Dogs…

  27. That's the 1st pan of apples put on to stew and another load of large jars and lids to sort out, sterilise and fill to put away for future use.
I plan putting a 2nd pan on as well as doing an Eve's Pudding augmented by a couple of sticks of rhubarb, but first we've got the chimney Sweep coming.

  28. So the two Jewish "victims" shot yesterday were shot by the police. One died.

    Extraordinary.

    1. When modern high velocity weapons are used in close quarter actions, that is very likely to happen.

      1. No doubt Starmfuhrer is desperate to blame whites in some way – not integrating them not giving muslim enough money or some perceived pretend slight.

Any excuse to not take responsibility for his deliberate rape of this country by muslim.

        1. Alibhai Brown was ranting on about how the native British were refusing to compromise and adapt to immigrants!

    1. I also enjoyed her skits as Kitty in Victoria Wood As Seen On TV, as well as her private detective, Hetty Wainthropp.

      1. I liked the Talking Heads one where you only realised she was in prison until well into her monologue.

        RIP Patricia.

  29. One Nottler made a comment that it was unclear what I was doing with the valve actuator from my boiler system that the technician deemed to be faulty.

I have been testing it whilst removed from the boiler circuit and did this continuity test:

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xb7XQ_tu2YyOAUPDOEaKRpCa6m8fdUd6/view?usp=drive_web

On the surface, it looked as if I was right and that it was working properly.

On further inspection it looked as though the actuator passed the continuity test (the audible beep on the meter) something else was evident which could have indicated a fault.

Can you spot what it is?:

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-1vQaswM9XQH-T-GbgxPkfmk1_GvPYsc/view?usp=drive_web

      1. Your first answer is correct.

What I haven’t shown is a recording of all the other previous readings which can show a contact reading of anywhere between 1.6 ohms to infinity.

This was an intermittent fault which meant that the fault could exist even with the boiler being perceived to be working normally.

What is alarming is that this fault, which dissociated the user (and thus the boiler) from all heating controls, could happen at any time depending on the level of intermittent operation.

I beleive that technician who attended after my boiler fault report had come across this problem frequently enough to know that modern system boilers that do not have pump overrun can be fixed by fitting a new central heating actuator valve.

    1. Odd Q – why the interest? I call the people out to fix it, they fix it. I don't worry about what they did.

      1. The boiler seemed to be working normally except that one night when I found it working when it shouldn’t. On investigation the timer did not show any demand for heat. I switched off boiler mans switch and turned it back the following worning.

If I called out for a technician at this stage I had no evidence that the boiler could go completely out of control and lock me out. A callout would highly likely to result in right when tested.

Following the restart the boiler did apparently run normally until it lost control again and failed to restart despite a mains off/ on restarr.

It was at that stage I could produce video evidence of a fault which confirmed that the boiler was completely out of control.

The technician could fix the problem because I could demonstrate a fault situation that I could demonstrably repeat.

Other Nottlers have reported a similar fault which a technician was unable to fix – I didn’t want to be in that situation when ‘time is of the essence’.

  30. I am off for the afternoon. A lecture in King's Lynn on Norfolk church monuments. Back about 5. I wonder how many slammers will have been arrested by then?

    Play nicely.

    1. An anchorite, or religious recluse, once lived at the Anchorhold at All Saints Church, King's Lynn. While little information is available about that specific individual, the term "anchorite" refers to a person who lived in religious solitude, often in a cell attached to a church, and received support and alms from the community.

  31. I went on an afternoon excursion yesterday. It's a decade since I went to the Bedford beer festival. I lived there for a few years in the late 80s/early 90s and was a volunteer at the event for a few more, travelling up from Wellingborough daily during the week until I had enough of it in 2001. It was almost a spur of the moment decision to call a cab for the station at about 3.30pm.

Bedford was never a pretty town. Much of the centre is disfigured by 1970s pedestrian precincts, ugly enough when the town was thriving and shop units were occupied but even uglier today with some empty or selling tat. It had a sizeable immigrant population even when I lived there but now it makes Wellingborough look like an English market town of the 1970s.

The greater disappointment was the festival. It almost folded recently. A local company stepped in to sponsor it but the tradition is fading. The buzz has gone. When once the hall would be full as early as 6pm with drinkers of all ages, now there was just a gentle hum from a much smaller clientele, hardly any of them below the age of 50. I saw a handful of the old faces and caught up with their news (mostly medical!) before leaving after 7pm having sampled some uninspiring beers in quantities much reduced from my younger days.

I made it safely back to the station through the badlands and walked onto the platform just as the announcement came over the PA that all trains north and south were delayed because of a death on the line near Luton. I was expecting a late arrival home but someone at East Midland Trains used some initiative and stopped a fast southbound train due to pass Bedford, ordered the passengers off and sent it back to Wellingborough and Kettering for those waiting for the delayed northbound train stuck at Luton. I was back home at about 8.45. How long it took southbound travellers to get home I don't know but trains were running again by about 10pm.

The decline of the beer festival isn't just local. There'll be no CAMRA GBBF next year. It's another sign that the old country is dying. The pub life of the 80s and 90s looks like the Wild West from here. I'm glad I lived through it.

        1. I'm from Chesterfield, Kate, and when I discovered that the nearby town of Mansfield was prominently featured in a book called Crap Towns, I couldn't resist repeatedly informing some chums from that desolate hell-hole of this fact.😊

I thought that Luton and Leicester were both deplorable places, but Mansfield takes the biscuit. Nearly as bad as Lydd in Kent, which wins first prize!

          1. Yorkshire lass as I think you know Grizz…I’ll never go back, last time was dad’s funeral.

    1. I've been to the Bedford beer festival on two occasions earlier this century, although I forget exactly which years. It entailed a local bus from Stevenage to Hitchin followed by another from Hitchin to Bedford. It ought to be easier now that there are direct buses from Stevenage to Bedford. There is still a thriving annual beer fest in Hitchin every June at the town's rugby club. I went there this year and it's holding up well.

  32. 413769+ up ticks,

May one ask, this ongoing civil war triggered some three plus decades ago, as in, the political overseers against decent indigenous folk, when will the decent folk "take to the mattress"to protect their children / family/home & homeland" in a life threatening manner?

  33. Scores on the doors. In very bad taste.

    1. Hmm
So the bullet went through the terrorist then through the door then killed the man behind the door??
      That's a hellava round
Or did the "marksman" miss the terrorist entirely??
      Not a good look

          1. It would be a better round. The problem is if they don't kill muslim first time they blow themselves up and kill even more people.

  34. After this weeks events, I bet the BBC had wished it had left the release of it's rather snide investigation into the Met Police for another week.
The police are now heroes out on the front line protecting the public from these celebration protests.
No doubt stretched and understaffed by those that have been suspended.

  35. I have put my finger on what's pissing me off (amongst all the other things).

It's the fact we have all had to work our way up, as have our families, over the generations, all through last century and this one. And yet people who have been here 5 minutes are being given privileged access to opportunities denied to the idiginous. I am so fed up with the entitlement. We didn't have it easy. We had to work. I grant you the Windrush generation worked hard too. I have no beef with them. But for the hundreds of thousands of recent arrivals, that we didn't ask for but have got anyway, to get fast-tracked this way, is really winding me up. It's not fair.

And that is a true British value – Fairness.

Fairness. Honesty. Charity. Not this diversity and tolerance bollocks.

    1. The Left hate those three things. They far prefer controlling what you say, do and think.

There's always a chance the behaviour of the diversity and fairness will mean they're got rid of.

Honesty is anathema as it means pointing out the criminality of the dindu.

Charity? Oh no. The state can't have that. Choosing who to support based on merit? Utterly opposed to Left wingery. So they force you to pay for their favoured causes: none of which you would voluntarily.

  36. Yesterday while visiting my lamb supplier, deep in the countryside, I realised I had arrived 25 minutes before the shop opened. As the weather was fine I decided to walk down to the bush-lined stream. The trees and bushes were full of small birds, unfortunately mostly unidentified since I had not taken my binoculars. In the space of just three minutes, though, I saw a golden eagle Aquila chrysaetos flying above, followed by both a green woodpecker Picus viridis and a black woodpecker Dryocopus martius both calling and flying.

Apart from the bird calls the beautiful valley I was standing in was completely silent. It was blissful.

    1. Today in the Wibbling household I have heard 4 sirens, the traffic roar of the motorway miles away, my neighbour's dreadful music and the chav son of next door pull up.

The Warqueen and I would very much love to live in a small little Hamlet in the middle of nowhere where all we could see for miles around is green. Somewhere where if I let the dogs off the lead, I can see where they've gone as far as I can see.

      1. Mr MIR and me are dreaming of a kit-house in the middle of nowhere, off-grid and self-sufficient (ish. Clearly being fully self-sufficient is hard work)

  37. Labour has just exposed socialism as an exhausted ideology
This Government is realising that the old state solutions do not work. The trouble is that they have nothing to put in its place
"Go back to a real socialist like George Orwell. As his essays make clear, he certainly didn’t support socialism as a vehicle for fashionable causes – indeed he mocked the vegetarian sandal-wearers on the Left just as we do today. "

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/10/02/labour-has-exposed-socialism-as-an-exhausted-ideology/

    BTL

If you want to embrace the philosophy of pure, impractical, ideological socialism It helps to have gone to Eton as George Orwell did.

    1. Apologies, but this government isn't realising anything. It already knows that socialism doesn't work. The problem this country has is that Labour don't care what damage they do. They have every institution of government pushing their most destructive, hateful, damaging policies going on Labour and the Leftist bastards are revelling in the carnage they're causing.

    1. I always remember thinking my mother was a lot like her. My Dad was certainly like Richard.

  38. Straight in there.. never fails.
Muzzie Good Morning Britain presenter Adil Ray asks Muzzie Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood about anti-muslim hatred.. and what measures the government is taking to protect Muslim communities in the UK.

He's got Muzzie friends yknow that are considering leaving with all the far-right anti-Muslim hate.

    1. Oh dear, never mind. Shut the door on your way out & warn all your friends/family back in your sh**-hole homeland how 'bad' it is here.

    1. What is 'national renewal', you lying effluent? One where the decent white folk are erased and replaced with criminal black and brown to suit your ego? An enemy of this country? Look in the bloody mirror, you treacherous, vile, disgusting rodent.

      1. Labour's mantra was 'vote for change' and not 'things can only get better'. I think the head of state would prefer his son's idea of making a 'change for better' rather than a 'change for worse'.

  39. Snippet from the DT.

Counterterrorism police are to investigate whether the synagogue attacker made death threats to an MP over his position on Israel.

The Conservative MP John Howell received a series of threatening emails after he spoke out in defence of Israel’s right to protect itself.

One of the letters came from a “Jihad Alshamie” who told him that “It is people like you who deserve to die”.

On Thursday, Greater Manchester Police said that the man responsible for the Manchester Synagogue attack was 35-year-old Jihad Al-Shamie.

It is unclear if the attacker is the same individual who sent the letter but that is currently being considered by investigators, The Times reports.

    1. I l ow we are not allowed to talk about relative IQ differences. But we need to start wondering if it is an issue. How do people get so worked up? Either go and do something positive – join Hamas, for all I care – but don’t stay here and kill innocent people.

    2. Police confirm Jihad Al Shami was not on any terror watchlist. LOL
Course not. Monitored by Muslims, updated by Muslims. Filtered by Muslim.. within government.

      1. Then again, perhaps he had never done anything before yesterday to bring him to the attention of the authorities. Previous Muslim terrorists have been on watchlists, so it's not unknown.

  40. A wet rrip to the tip this morning – at least I got the car loaded yesterday while it was dry. Then did the shopping. Still raining out there.
We said goodbye to Alfie and Mike this morning – they've been reroofing our conservatory. They had to finish up in the wet after a good few dry days. Now time to catch up on here.

  41. Rory McIlroy is a foul-mouthed hypocrite, says former US Ryder Cup captain
Paul Azinger said that the Masters winner cannot ‘have it both ways’ after swearing at fans who heckled him at Bethpage last weekend

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/golf/2025/10/03/rory-mcilroy-paul-azinger-ryder-cup-hypocrite-hecklers/

    BTL

On some occasions McIlroy is brilliant golfer. Unfortunately he is permanently cursed with having such a very unattractive personality.

    1. From all the reports the US fans behaved abominably – while McIlroy may not be perfect I think this report is just trying to smear him and make excuses for very poor sportsmanship by the American "fans".

      1. Yes, I agree that the behaviour of the American fans was shameful, unsporting, vulgar and reprehensible. They cruelly targeted him knowing that is very easily provoked.

        1. You seem to have done a 180 after a couple of posters took a different view from your original one.

    2. I've yet to see this "very unattractive personality". Yes, he lost his temper momentarily at the misbehaviour of some New York spectators, but he was provoked beyond the endurance of many of us.

    1. Tommy Robinson faces jail next week for protecting all the key sources of his journalistic activities.
How many 'so-called journalists' in the UK spoke out on his behalf?
      A big fat zero.

      1. I had tinned macaroni cheese on toast earlier with bargain-price fried sausages. This was an epicurean activity.

      2. He will be sent to prison for calling himself Tommy Robinson instead of Steven Yaxley Lennon. The police will soon be providing evidence to say that Harry Webb, Maurice Micklewhite and Reginald Dwight will be facing similar charges.

      3. They may well regret that. I point towards a favourite poem by Friedrich Niemöller, a good warning to all:

"When the Nazis came for the communists,
        I remained silent;
        I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,
        I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
        I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
        I remained silent;
        I was not a Jew.

        When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out."

    2. Steven Yaxley-Lennon (also known as Tommy Robinson) is not stupid – in fact he is highly intelligent. He completely demolishes this French journalist.

  42. Bit of a brisk windy wet afternoon , you know the sound that echoes down the chimney , and the draught that whistles around your legs . Temperature isn't bad outside though , says 17c, but of that with the breeze , hmm I am not so sure .

Drove to the large B+Q in Poole, slow traffic . When we arrived , B+Q staff were at the door , informing customers that their tills were down , cash only ..

Checkout , we did the sums , but the staff needed their calculators and needed to write every item down .. but of a phaff for them .. so the store was quite empty of customers ..

They weren't sure whether they had been nobbled by a computer virus .. nasty things can cripple business!

Not really gardening weather , wind possibly gathering some strength .. not exactly a Michael Fish moment is it ?

    1. Shhh. Don't tell anyone, but their upstream credit processor is having a problem. I imagine many shops have been affected but the segregation is pretty clear with firewalling between each of them. Considering the legislation around credit processors their uptime is significant.

  43. I noted this morning that Sky News was describing the knife-wielding attacker at the Manchester synagogue as a "suspect". As he is in no position to be put on trial and cannot be convicted, at what point does this "suspect" become responsible for driving his vehicle into a group of people, stabbing one victim to death and injuring others? I do understand that broadcasters try not to prejudice criminal investigations and trials, but this smacks of excessive delicacy.

      1. They regard his Muslim-ness as merely incidental, as relevant as the colour of his hair, his shoe size, or his favourite fruit and veg.

    1. If could look up what the name Jahid means you can understand why a devout muslim would be prepared to die for their faith.

      1. Jihad, an Arabic word meaning "struggle" or "effort," refers to two primary types of struggle in Islam: the "greater" (internal) jihad, a personal struggle to live virtuously and spiritually improve oneself, and the "lesser" (external) jihad, a struggle to defend Islam, which can involve armed conflict under strict ethical conditions, but never justifies terrorism or forced conversion. Therefore, jihad is far more than just "holy war"; it encompasses a wide range of efforts, from personal piety to social reform and legitimate self-defense.

        1. and the "lesser" (external) jihad, a struggle to defend Islam, which can involve armed conflict under strict ethical conditions, but never justifies terrorism or forced conversion.

Please explain the strict ethical conditions the Hamas jihadists were following on October 7th

          1. As they frequently do all over the world.

So I take it their approach to strict ethical conditions differs from yours and mine.

          2. I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised, although I do not have much idea about what happens in Morocco, Malaysia and Indonesia, for example.

I don't really know where you are going with this other than to emphasise something widely believed, that Muslims are inherently more violent than other human beings.

  44. The Alfred Dunhill golf championship is taking place across three courses in Scotland this week. To put it mildly, looking at Sky Sport's Golf channel, today's conditions are challenging. Sideways rain and inside-out brollies are evident.

    1. I did not know much about her and I never watched her TV series but this is a very moving letter to us all.

    2. What she wrote last year is truly wonderful, Maggie. Thanks so much for posting it.

  45. The father of the synagogue attacker said the October 7 attacks on Israel were perpetrated by “men of God on Earth” and described the atrocities as a “miracle by all standards”.

Faraj al-Shamie has also referenced Iran’s attacks on Israel, writing on his Facebook page: “We are waiting for more”, and “your goods are being returned to you”.

Al-Shamie condemned the attacks by his son, Jihad al-Shamie, at Heaton Park in which two people were killed on Monday, describing it as a “heinous act”.

    • Who was Jihan al-Shamie? What we know about the Manchester attacker

Al-Shamie wrote on Facebook today that his son targeted “peaceful, innocent civilians”. Speaking on behalf of the family he said: “We fully distance ourselves from this attack and express our deep shock and sorrow over what has happened. Our hearts and thoughts are with the victims and their families, and we pray for their strength and comfort.”

He has posted repeatedly on social media about the plight of Gaza and events in his home country of Syria.

According to his online posts, he has worked as a trauma surgeon in war zones, including South Sudan. In one clip, posted in 2016, three years after the start of the South Sudanese civil war, he is seen treating injured children while working with the International Committee of the Red Cross.

In July this year, he also stated that “confrontation with Israel is inevitable” and “it should be the last battle”.

    • Manchester synagogue attack: rabbi denounces ‘desecration’ — follow live

In a post in January last year, he wrote: “Your [Israel’s] faces will be blackened by the light of al-Aqsa,” a reference to one of the holiest sites in Islam that sits in the Old City of Jerusalem.

In the days after the October 7 attacks in 2023, al-Shamie criticised Hamas for taking elderly people and children hostage, and urged their release.

However, he nonetheless praised Hamas for its attack on Israel, in which more than 1,000 people died.

In a Facebook post on the day of the attacks, al-Shamie praised the Hamas fighters who paraglided into Israel by air and by motorbike as “God’s men on earth” and “prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Israel will not remain”.

Writing in Arabic, he added: “Regardless of who leads them, they are the true compass for men who are confident of their victory, even if their resources are few.”

Three days after the attack, he again praised Hamas but urged the terror group to release vulnerable hostages, posting an image of one of the elderly women being taken in an armed truck.

Al-Shamie wrote: “Release the elderly and children. What you have done so far is a miracle by all standards. Do not harm them in a moment of anger. They have no place in war.”

However, reiterating his support for Hamas’ overall strategy, he added: “May God grant you victory, support you, and guide you to the right path in a battle that history will record as the beginning of the liberation of Al-Aqsa, God willing.”

Faraj al-Shamie has also attended at least one pro-Palestine protest in Manchester, on August 31, when he posted footage from the rally in the city centre.

Al-Shamie, which means “the Syrian”, is understood to have moved to the UK along with his son and the rest of his family at least 25 years ago.

Jihad, who was a very young child when he entered the UK, became a naturalised British citizen while still a teenager in 2006, the Home Office said.

Earlier today, Shabana Mahmood, the home secretary, said she was surprised by the attacker’s first name, and said she had never heard of someone being called Jihad.

She confirmed that it has been his name from birth.

Al-Shamie has been approached for comment. https://www.thetimes.com/uk/crime/article/faraj-al-shamie-father-synagogue-manchester-attacker-nnw9qt35j?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook&fbclid=IwY2xjawNMxTxleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHmZzFzopz26JYyczuleMVXXuwZs9Gu76SSf-EyNsPzNwy9Wg1L2pENklHlhQ_aem_scnd9n3rwxvOsCZZSw7uFw#Echobox=1759502219

      1. Shame on you’ — deputy PM booed at vigil
David Lammy has been booed at a vigil outside the Manchester synagogue.

The deputy prime minister was greeted with chants of “shame on you!” from the assembled mourners.

Protesters heckled Lammy as he walked up to the podium to speak.

“Go to Palestine — leave us alone”, protesters yelled. “My child’s school was closed to today — you allowed this to happen,” another added.

Lammy struggled to get through parts of his speech as he continued to be heckled.

The booing broke out the moment it was announced that David Lammy would be addressing the gathered mourners. The numbers of people trying to shush the crowd were outnumbered by those who began heckling the deputy prime minister and did not subside for several minutes before he was allowed to speak.

“Off, off, off,” they shouted, “shame on you.” The shouting did not subside throughout the speech, which had to be paused to allow him to continue. “It’s too late,” people muttered in response to his promises to help protect the Jewish community.

        1. Good. They deserve it. They have let the country down, and the Jewish “community” too.

    1. Father of Jihad Al-Shamie who committed yesterday's Manchester synagogue atrocity is called Faraj Al-Shamie. Since most of this post refers simply to Al-Shamie, I am totally confused as to who is being referred to. Imagine a story about me and my nephew Olaf Bloodaxe, which simply refers to "Bloodaxe". Am I being obtuse or does anyone on this page sympathise and agree with me?

      1. In circumstances where the surname alone clearly identifies the subject, it is a commonplace shorthand, but both father and son are of interest, therefore I think the forename should also be used to avoid confusion.

  48. Boat is coming out for the winter. Stormy in Cornwall. Next year boat will be in Southampton. My husband’s folks won’t see as much of him as they currently do. I will have to make sure he keeps seeing them. They are 81. I know how much i love seeing my kids – something they don’t realise, and won’t until they have grown-up children of their own.

    1. I make an effort to visit Firstborn at his farm and take him to dinner at least once a fortnight – and we do work on the farm as well.
Second Son lives just a few miles away, so we often meet at my local pub towards the weekend and as his schedule allows, for beers followed by a curry/Thai/McDonalds dinner.
Helps keep in touch, and I get huge emotional reward by still keeping up with the two lads.
This learning came after I was sent to boarding school aged 8, and thereafter saw my parents for summer, Christmas and Easter vacations only. The university, more university and work in the South East. Consequently, I don't know my Mother very well, and didn't know my Father until he died in 1997 and then we moved to Norway 1998. Don't want to repeat that mistake.
To be fair, my parents never made an effort to keep in touch – by inviting me over for a weekend, for example, when they lived in Wales. One got the impression that they were well rid of me once I went to boarding school.

      1. That's sad, Herr Oberst. So good to hear that you are making a real effort not to repeat your own parents' mistakes.

      2. I don't see a great deal of my sons – but I went over to Switzerland last month and saw his new house. My elder son lives in Swansea and comes by now and then – the last time was a couple of weeks ago.
They both make the effort to come and spend Christmas with us. Except in 2020, when there was a travel ban – it meant I didn't see either of them for two years.

  49. Elderly man was killed after being ambushed by drunken teenage girls filmed on mobile, as his family ask: 'What type of generation is this?'
Mr Rivero, 75, a practising Buddhist, made multiple requests for the girls to stop when they cornered him near a bus stop in Islington, north London, just before 11.30pm on February 27, even making the peace sign and holding his hands up.

This happened over seven months ago. Why is it being reported in the Daily Mail today?

Why is the fact that he is a practising Buddhist mentioned? Is it to suggest that not only Jews are targeted?

Why is there no mention of the ethnicity of the feral teenaged girl attackers?

    1. The Mail is reporting a sentencing hearing. His death and previous court appearances were reported by different outlets earlier in the year.

His Buddhism helps to indicate his character as Buddhists, by and large, are a peaceful people. I very much doubt that he was targeted because of his faith.

They cannot be identified because of their age.

      1. I always thought, obviously mistaken, that the Jewish congregations were separate. But apart from that, it's just sickening, but not unsurprising from an empty creature like starmer.

      2. "Jewish skullcaps, or kippot, come in many colors, and while there are no strict rules, dark colors like black are often worn by more traditional communities, symbolizing humility, whereas white can represent purity and is worn during holidays. Modern and progressive Jews may wear a wider variety of colors and styles, with choices depending on community standards and personal preference.
        Colors and Meanings
        Black:
A common choice for traditional or Orthodox men, black kippot, often made of velvet or satin, symbolize humility and modesty in dress.
        White:
White kippot are often worn on holidays like Shabbat and Yom Kipp to symbolize purity."

        He would; wouldn't he?

    1. This is playing out like one of those B-Movies disasters.

The Muslim threat is plain to see around the world but it is mostly unreported, played down or made excuses for.

        1. Grizzly, my starter word is AUDIO which contains every vowel except for E and the sound-alike vowel of Y. this is a much better word than the three which you listed, which only contain a Y. Give AUDIO a try, and you'll find that you get much further much quicker.

          1. ADIEU and OUIJA are other words which perform the same function, although D is more commonplace than J.

          2. I am taking the mickey. Auntie Elsie. I had to look up a list of five-letter words sans a vowel!😊

        2. Interestingly, LYNCH is my third word if things arent going well – my first two are TASER and OPIUM.

Your first two words have got to get all the vowels out and the most used consonants, S T R N so a combination of those is the best strategy.

  52. Another loss of my favourite aircraft, an Antonov AN-2R. It's my favourite because it's so ugly even it's mother would struggle to love it, and it flies at about 3 mph… so it gets used as cropduster, and similarly hazardous duties, by Russian bush pilots who likely aren't the most careful of folk. Still sad.

  55. The father of the Manchester synagogue attacker praised the Oct 7 Hamas terrorist attacks in a series of disturbing Facebook posts.

Faraj Al-Shamie celebrated and praised the murderous invasion of Israel during which almost 1,200 people were killed and around 250 people were taken hostage.

On October 7, the trauma surgeon who came to the UK from Syria, urged the Hamas terrorists to 'take good care of your weapons and aim them accurately for your brothers' hours after the fighters began their bloodthirsty siege of Israel.

I, on the other hand, am obviously vulgar as all wossname, as I do get excited by wonderful food. Enjoy your fruits de mer!

  56. Just rediscovered this, and it seems appropriate to quote based on the UK Government's promotion of Islamism and anti-semitism:

Who is in charge of the clattering train?
The axles creak and the couplings strain,
and the pace is hot and the points are near,
and sleep hath deadened the driver's ear,
and the signals flash through the night in vain.
For death is in charge of the clattering train.

Edwin James Milliken, quoted by Winston Churchill in the debate on the air estimates in the House of Commons, 19 March 1935

Particularly the lines about sleep and signals. The last line was shown to be valid yesterday.

The 2,400g of steak-and-kidney I prepared t'other day gave me a yield of eight individual S&K pies and four S&K puddings.

I have baked the pies in their small enamel dishes using a home-made shortcrust pastry. They are now cooling awaiting being put into the freezer. The puddings, made using my home-made suetcrust, have also been put into the freezer but they have not been cooked. I shall steam each one individually, when I desire one, after first defrosting them.

Each pie and pudding contains a healthy portion of 200g S&K. These will see me throught the cold months to come; as will four hearty servings of lamb stew already frozen.

    1. Looks wonderful! I can smell them from here! Beautiful golden colour, too.
S&K pudding – my favourite ever since age 24 and working my Ph.D.

      1. I love a pie hot with chips and peas (and a decent gravy) but, being weird in many people's eyes, I often enjoy one cold as a snack or light meal.

The puddings are for special occasions.

Use in structural integrity monitoring – but all a bit difficult really, to get meaningful data from it other than “there’s a lot of noise going on down there” – and it was great for monitoring passing ships (being a passive sonar-type array, not surprising).

          1. Thanks for that, I can see how that could be very beneficial – my degree is in Engineering Science but I spent all my career in the IT Industry in various Sales roles!

      1. I've experimented with countless recipes over the decades but this is head-and-shoulders the tastiest yet.

Most recipes add tomato purée, but I find that ruins the balance of flavour so I use Geo. Watkins' Mushroom Ketchup instead and the improvement it makes is outstanding.

        1. Oh, that's interesting. I've been wanting to remove the tomato as well as I just don't think it works. I've tried worcester but will try this.

          1. But, but, but, he forgot to fish out the sprig of thyme! The finished product seems absolutely delicious; however, I think it would be quicker for me to travel to Sweden to see young Grizzly and let him do all the cooking. On the other hand, however, I think that a quicker and simpler method for me would be to buy some ready-made steak and kidney pie at my local Aldi and heat it at home in my kitchen oven. Lol.

        2. I find tomato puree can make things rather acidic
I have bottles of mushroom ketchup.
I have to get it online.

          1. I use tomato purée in my pork-and-tomato sausages. The trick is to put in some bicarbonate of soda to neutralise the acidity.

        1. Don't the Weegies eat pies and puddings?
How do they get through the long dark winter?

    2. Oi! Why are you showing us all these mouth-watering steak-and-kidney pies, Grizzly? Don't you know I am trying to lose some weight? Lol.

      1. I've also made some healthier ones for weight-watchers, Auntie Elsie. They have no crust on the outside and no filling in the middle!

I do find them a bit bland, though.🤣

        1. Lol, Grizzly. Are you suggesting that if I close my mouth and join top and bottom lips with gaffer tape I will lose weight? Lol.

      2. He's just a terrorist isn't he Auntie Elsie…for punishment he can hand over every single pie…

        1. There is an electric dishwasher in the house. It was there when we bought it in 2013. It's never been used.

Did you know this, nature is amazing !

Newborn foals are born with what horse lovers call “fairy fingers” or “golden slippers.” The scientific name for these soft, rubbery coverings is eponychium. They form around the foal’s tiny hooves before birth, giving each foot a padded, cushion-like appearance.

These golden slippers have an important job. While the foal is still in the womb, they protect the mother’s uterus from sharp kicks. During birth, they also keep the birth canal safe from the edges of the foal’s hooves. Without them, both the mare and foal would face serious risks.

Right after birth, the eponychium begins to dry and peel away. Within hours of the foal’s first steps, the soft coverings disappear, revealing the hard hooves underneath. Walking on them doesn’t cause pain—the structures are made to wear off naturally as the foal starts life outside the womb.

    1. Absolutely fascinating, Maggie. As they say, it's amazing what you learn on this site.

      1. Yes Elsie ,

When I saw the photo , I thought it looked horrible , but then when I read the article , I put my queasiness to one side , and thought how clever and amazing nature is / God is , and you know that everything is thought through properly .. and carefully ..

  60. Cmon on Mo.. crank it up across Europe.
May as well deal with it now than 10 years time.

  61. And so it goes on ….
The Manchester synagogue terrorist was on police bail for an alleged rape when he carried out the attack, The Telegraph can disclose.

Jihad al-Shamie, 35, was under investigation over an alleged sexual attack which is understood to have taken place earlier this year.

The Syrian-born British citizen is believed to have other criminal convictions, but he was not on the radar of Counter-Terrorism officers.

    1. but he was not on the radar of Counter-Terrorism officers.

Tells you all you need to know.. his friggin name is lidderally "I'm an Islamic Terrorist from Syria and am about to go off" in Arabic.

      1. That's one interpretation. There are others. However, if nominative determinism is a thing, steer clear of Norwegians called Gunnar. It means "warrior" or "battle" in Old Norse.

        1. Yes dear.. but as I explained I was referring to "any manufacturers of dairy products".

    2. 'believed to have other criminal convictions'…if not terrorism related, likely other sexual attacks then.

      1. Sounds like a nasty piece of work that the world is well rid of. Pity he wasn't shot sooner.

        1. Quite surprising he wasn’t. Hope authorities looking into his contacts, won’t be too difficult.

  62. Racism … or Racial Hatred?

Be wary of conflating the two, as is now common in government and the mainstream media.

The vogue word racism is tossed around ubiquitously these benighted days but a good number of people bandying the word about are conveniently, but illogically, using it as a synonym for racial hatred which, of course, is a vile concept to be avoided at all cost. Racism and racial hatred are not conspecific.

When it comes down, simply, to racism, all humans — of whatever race, pure or mixed —have it naturally programmed into them! We intrinsically look after our own race.

It is a fundamental law of nature that all species look after their own kind, first and foremost, and fight off threats from all outside agencies. Animals are genetically programmed to protect the immediate members of their own family grouping. Those that live in packs will fight off any attempts to fight them by other similar packs of the same species. If the potential usurpers are from a different race or tribe then the determination to repel boarders will be more intense.

It is the same with humans. In primitive societies family groups would fight off attacks by other family groups. The protection of one’s own kind is paramount and is demanded by nature. As human development progressed, people would naturally group together, for safety as well as familiarity, with those of their own race and type. They would be naturally suspicious of outsiders, especially those of different colouring and customs. Throughout history, many wars have been fought between sets of combatants from different areas, assorted tribes, manifold races, sundry customs, diverse cultures, multifarious belief systems, dissimilar religions, disparate politics and various countries. Conflict is rife throughout the animal kingdom (of which mankind is an integral part) and the fight for survival is innate in all genera, species, races and tribes.

As a result of advanced civilisation, most humans have come to terms with the fact that we live together in an eclectic mix of races, customs, cultures, belief systems, religions and politics; not just within the same country, but often within the same street, job, or place of leisure. Most of the time we co-exist fairly amicably but tensions do arise at times, just as tension often arises between two-or-more members of the same family, sex, tribe, race, or community, etc. It always has and it always will.

Laws in civilised societies exist to prevent a member of one racial stereotype being gratuitously offensive to a member of another race. This is called racial hatred and is, quite correctly, outlawed. However, it is simply impossible to legislate against one human having ingrained feelings of protection for his own kind against any outside agency, including members of his own species that may be of a different race, tribe, country, culture, politics or religion. Such feelings are innate within us all and to deny this is to deny nature.

No one will ever remove this fundamental human instinct. By all means outlaw and prosecute those who are guilty of ad hominem and unprovoked attacks on others for no other reason than they are of a different race; but don’t ever even attempt to legislate against inherent and instinctive human nature.

Clueless politicians and the gormless media should be made aware of this.

      1. I can see signs of it started as WW2 ended. Remember when RI was changed to RE then to RK. What is it called now ???. if at all. History and Geography changed to Social Studies. the list goes on.

        1. Religious Instruction was precisely what I received. This applied in schools and in the various chapels and churches I attended from a very young age.

Religious Instruction should stand alone if part of a curriculum. Religious Education and Religious Knowledge should if anything be entirely separate studies to that of following our collective faith.

    1. Very well and articulately put.

That is why Engels – Marx's collaborator – said: "The family is the enemy of the state and the state will never gain complete control until the family is destroyed completely."

      1. Nice one – my favourite Engels quote, and one with which I agree is;

“What is good for the ruling class, is alleged to be good for the whole of society with which the ruling class identifies itself.”

        Nuff said….

  63. They just can't do it.. another Achilles heel for Labour, the PM, The Home Secretary and Lefties.. they cannot utter the word Islamic in this news story..

    1. Of course not! They're desperate for the slammer vote and I imagine much of the budget will be aimed at giving the revolting sewage even more money. They'll import tens of millions more of the sewage, the invasion will never ever stop. Having imported millions of the disgusting vermin in the expectation they'll all vote Labour, Labour are finding the savage dindu wants it's own putrid dross.

  64. I am off now. Glad to see Whammy Lammy getting a (sort of) kicking at Manchester. Ikea Slammer didn't linger, I noticed.

To learn that the Midwife is the new archbish is just the last thing I needed to end this week on a deep low. To my amazement, Marcus Walker (in The Spectator) thinks she is the bee's knees. He must be on some sort of drug.

    Have a spiffing evening

    A demain. Prolly.

    1. Not much else that Marcus can say, Bill. Despite them being at opposite ends of the political spectrum, she has been very supportive. He tackled her response to Covid head-on and she responded without any malice. The bottom line of course is that Barts has a growing congregation. She could hardly object?

    2. Caroline recommends all Anglican Christians to do metaphorically what Conservatives have down in joining Reform – i.e. defect and become Roman Catholics.

      1. Spiritually, Caroline may well have a point.
However, beyond their faith, the fast dwindling rural C of E population perhaps have some loyalty and sense of duty towards the local church as both a gathering place for people and as an historic, often medieval, building.

    1. Takes me back to Norwich and UEA in the summer of 1967 – the year in which I became 21.

The song meant so much to so many people who did not know what it meant.

  65. Connor Tomlinson, "I would just say Muslims.. the problem is Dan if you try to split hairs between Islamists & the moderate Muslims that failed to read their own text quite closely you run into the problem of asking was Mohammad an Islamist?"

    1. Jesus told his followers to love their enemies. Mohammed told his followers to kill their enemies.

  66. Watched the Sound of Music yesterday, haven't seen it since I was a kid at the Tooting Granada in the 60s, something to do with Julie being 90.
You don't get many Julie's these days, bless her.
What a great film, Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer gave magnificent performances.
One thing I didn't pick up on in the 60s, how quickly the Lefties adopted the Nazi agenda when it gave them power over the normies.
It all reminded me of the pandemic to be fair and of a golden age before successive progressive governments sought change, change for the worse.

      1. You probably wont be surprised to hear that I dont have a lot of time for Melchior or indeed Balthazar. Gaspar……

  67. ‘Break my ribs again, just give me food’: Hamas hostage on his desperate plea to captors
Eli Sharabi’s defiance sustained him through 491 days in captivity. Then came the news that his wife and daughters had been murdered…

A gut-wrenching article by Allison Pearson on the evil of Hamas. And by extension the evil of Starmer who has given the murderers the recognition they want.

    BTL

Starmer is every bit as evil as the Hamas monsters to whom he has given recognition of the statehood of the non-existent state of Palestine. Hamas is delighted as it proves to them that their actions on October 7th 2023 have been rewarded..

The people who march in support of the rapists, murderers and kidnappers need to be held for a few months in the same conditions as Hamas imposed on the prisoners to make them see just what it is that they are supporting.

And for how long should Starmer himself be held in these conditions too?

      1. Who knows. Leftists like complaining about something. I assume it was because they knew there'd be an outcry at their arrogance and they wanted to stick two fingers up at the decent people who'd be appalled at muslim killin Jews.

Frankly, it's long past time they were brought to heel. Voltaire said he may hate what they say but defend their right to say it: I no longer do. I would have long ago but not now. The Left are too dangerous, too violent, too savage. They cannot be permitted a voice any more. Their evil is too pernicious.

You don't let a venomous snake roam free. The Left are worse.

  68. Government response to the no to ID fascism starts with 'Government will introduce ID cards'.

We say we don't want it and their response is a flat out 'up yours'.

Folk wonder why I hate the state. There's why.

  69. £120 spent on what used to be £70 5 years ago. Clucking bell, I despise the state. The waste, inefficiency, laziness, criminal incompetence, the sheer, unadulterated arrogance and stupidity – it's never ending. We're lucky. We can afford it (for the time being) but even then if the Warqueen decides she wants out, or the business folks we're done.

The entire state needs to be removed, shredded, blended, minced and sieved. The remains kept, the rest binned.

    1. It's universal – a year ago I sent my POA application to be registered with the office of Public Guardian in Falkirk – I'm still waiting, a recorded message says that sept 2024 are being processed at the moment – I expect the lazy bastards are doing them one a day at home

        1. Perhaps you could throw them a reminder attached to a brick through their window Sue. Are you still on holiday? 😘

          1. I know where the office is! 🧱
No, we’re adjusting! We got up at 7am on Wednesday, travelled back to Gatwick, then up to Glasgow, and got to bed at 10 last night!! 😳We woke up at 11.30 am today! Confused but the cats were thrilled to see us! Dobby has glued himself to us and wows if we go out of sight!

    2. I will not disagree. The parasites stop us all from being able to work.

  71. Utterly off topic.

    A village function this evening.

Packed out: babes in arms, pre school, primary school, teenagers, parents, grand and great grandparents.
Singing, dancing, conversing and lots and lots of laughter.
As far as we could tell, we were the only English there.
Many of the members of the commune greeted us and many went out of their way to say bon soir.
When we left the singer/compere bade us farewell.

We know him from numerous night-markets, but even so it was a lovely gesture.

The mayor and deputy also came to say hello.
Anyone who says the French are unfriendly is badly mistaken. If one tries to integrate they welcome you with kindness.

      1. True.
But who are we to criticise: with Starmer, Abbott, Lammy, Ballsup et al in charge?

  72. And that is me for the night.
A wet and stormy day with a drt but windy night forecast.

    So goodnight all.

  73. The Manchester terror attack is a parable for modern Britain

The horrific violence against the Jewish worshippers of the Heaton Park synagogue has shown the failures of multiculturalism

    TELEGRAPH VIEW • Saturday 4th October 2025

The horrific attack upon the Jewish worshippers of the Heaton Park synagogue has cast a cold and unforgiving light on modern Britain. The heckling of Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy at a vigil in Manchester spoke to the mood of the nation; as one protester put it, the nation wants "action now, not words".

As we learn more about the life of the attacker Jihad Al-Shamie, the clearer the need for action becomes. Born in Syria, Al-Shamie came to Britain as a small child, and was granted citizenship at the age of 16. His family lived in social housing provided by the British state; his brother was born in a British hospital; he and his siblings were educated in British schools. His father is a trauma surgeon who worked for the International Red Cross in war zones around the world; his two siblings are academically accomplished, working as a pharmacist and software engineer.

For decades, this family would have been viewed as a model of integration, paying back with gratitude a nation which had offered them a home and sustenance. Yet as the October 7 pogrom unfolded, Jihad's father, Faraj Al-Shamie, praised the Hamas terrorists responsible as "Allah's men on earth", adding "May God protect Palestine and its heroic people". In the days that followed, he appeared to criticise Muslim nations in the region for failing to assist Hamas in its war with Israel.

This bloody ideology is clear in the actions of his son Jihad, who targeted a synagogue less than a mile from his family home; targeted the Jewish Britons he had lived among as he grew up. The propensity for violence, too, had become clearer. While on no terror watchlists, we now know that at the time of the attack Jihad was on police bail for an alleged rape, and is believed to have had other criminal convictions. In its totality, the elements of the case make for a potent parable: a family invited to stay among us, offered every assistance in doing so, who outwardly appeared for years to have acquired every conceivable marker of integration, and whose son still turned to crime and terrorism.

That he did so, that the decades in this country, and all the generosity and opportunity offered to Jihad and his family were not sufficient to override the political and religious grievances that drove his anti-Semitic violence, is beyond troubling. It strikes at the core of the assumptions made by British governments for decades.

Our approach to integration has been based on the idea that pluralistic multiculturalism with materialistic indicators of economic belonging would be sufficient to tie a nation of disparate peoples and ideologies together. This is, now, undeniably untrue.

It is not just the extreme outliers of the terrorists and anti-Semites who profess their views and carry out their violence while still appearing "integrated" in the synoptic view of a state which measures such things through economic rather than cultural belonging.

We can see, and feel, that something is awry in the Gaza marches, politely described as pro-Palestine, but more accurately viewed as anti-Israel. Mere hours after the attack, as the Jewish community mourned the killing of its members, protesters clashed with police outside Downing Street, waving the flag of Palestine, while in Leeds demonstrators chanted "death to the IDF". The attitude was aptly summarised by the member of the crowd who stated simply that they did not "give a f—" about the Jewish community right now.

There is a fundamental sickness in this country that has been allowed to spread without check. The ancient hatred of anti-Semitism has taken root, offered fertile soil by communities who have remained unassimilated into the ideology and culture of Britain.

As the protester at the Manchester vigil stated, fixing this state of affairs will require more than empty words, or exhortations to avoid looking back in anger. We must confront the rifts between communities and the utter failure of the multicultural model to produce harmony, rather than attempting to pretend all is well. And we must produce a coherent alternative to this approach.

Cultural and ideological assimilation, rather than a focus on shallow markers of integration, must be prioritised. Britain is an open and tolerant country, and this should be prized. But we cannot play host to the world's hatreds and grudges and remain such.

They cannot be assimilated because they are commanded not to be.

  74. Well, chums, it's turned midnight, so it really is time I went to bed. God Night, sleep well, and I hope to see you all refreshed later this morning.

  75. I have just got back from a friend’s leaving do. Six of us from NCT, 22 years ago. Six professionals – 3 accountants, a boffin, a social worker and a meedja worker.

It turns out, despite us all having a vote, only the boffin and I had heard of the Laffer curve.

Despite the anecdotal evidence from my daughter (who told me earlier this week that all her work was preparing “exit letters” for her tax clients i.e. rich people
getting out) everyone round the table apparently knows better and assured me no-one is leaving the country.

And they are going to give 16 year olds the vote.
