From Stonewall to the Lords, the woke training industry is a corporate racket. 6 June 2021.
Recent weeks have seen a few small victories in a crucial fight: to stop unqualified busybodies telling people how to think and behave. Liz Truss’s excellent war on Stonewall is one good example, with an increasing number of groups dropping out of the former gay-rights group’s “Diversity Champions Scheme”. Stonewall charges huge sums of money to be invited into corporations and government to tell everyone what to do. Personally, I wouldn’t let Stonewall dog-sit for me, but everyone from GCHQ to the Ministry of Justice signed up. Some are having second thoughts.
Morning everyone. Harsh but welcome words from Douglas. How one wishes his attitude were reflected in the MSM as a whole but since most of them are part of the Racket cited in the title this is unlikely.

mng Araminta, only read the first line of your post, and that it’s from Douglas Murray was sufficient, it’s nice to have reaffirmed what the majority already know
Happy Sunday & Good Morning AWK
morning to you squire, have a good one today [and beyond]
Shavua Tov AWK. I’ll have to teach you some Hebrew. After the Sabbath ends on a Saturday night ( once 3 stars are seen in the sky) , the new week begins
( Sunday being the 1st day of the week here in Israel ) & we wish each other “Shavua Tov” – literally have a good new week !
Morning, Elfin.
Is that any three stars, randomly, or three specific ones?
The first 3 to be spotted in the location you are in & as such the end of the Sabbath ( just like the start of the Sabbath on a Friday evening as soon as it gets dark ) varies from place to place thus it starts sooner in Jerusalem which is in the east in the hills than it does in Tel Aviv in the west on the coast.
A good thing they don’t run railways and aeroplanes based on the same timekeeping.
Our Hebrew 5K plus year old methods of timekeeping pre-dates Rolex watches
So, “I’m sorry I’m late for the job interview, I’m Jewish”, might work?
Only if you dress the part!

What happens if the sky is 10/10 cloud all night?
In that case Conway you need to consult your local Rabbi
https://ohr.edu/ask_db/ask_main.php/176/Q2/Topic: Shabbat, Ending time, Stars
Ian Pamensky wrote:
Dear Rabbi,
Why does Shabbat end plus or minus 1 hour after sunset? Can you rely on the 3 stars? Many thanks in advance.
Dear Ian Pamensky,
The Talmud says that three medium-sized stars together in the sky signify nightfall. Halachic opinions about when this is range from 20 minutes to 72 minutes after sunset.
Ideally, you shouldn’t rely on “three stars.” Cloudy skies can make it hard to know exactly when this is. And even on a clear night, it’s difficult to determine exactly which stars are considered “medium” and which are considered “large.” Furthermore, the Chafetz Chaim writes that “three medium stars” was a reference for people in Babylon (Middle East). But people who live far to the north (Europe and America) where the sky takes much longer to darken should wait for three small stars. Ideally, you should go by the clock and a reliable Jewish calendar.
Did you hear about the ship’s captain who, one foggy night, perceived a glowing light out in the distance? He watched it intently, but couldn’t figure out why it grew no closer to his advancing ship. Finally, after staring at it for 20 minutes, he realized that the light was coming from the bowl of his pipe!

mng, an amended Head / Strapline of “the Government has Lost Public Confidence” [full stop is more appropriate. So, today’s jottings from the St Trinians tour of the Islington Wine Cellar: Tony Hall shares his diet. Rear Admiral Mathias isn;t a fan of a ruby murray:
SIR – The credit that the Government has gained from the successful vaccination programme, which to some extent compensates for its previous mishandling of the pandemic, is rapidly diminishing.
The primary reason for the international travel chaos – and reduction, rather than expansion, of green-list countries (along with the further economic harm this entails) – is largely of the Government’s making. It took far too long to stop flights from India, when it was clear that the new variant could be dangerous.
Rear Admiral Philip Mathias (retd)
Southsea, Hampshire
SIR – As a retired airline pilot, my heart bleeds for the hundreds of thousands of crew and staff in the airline and travel industries who must be wondering whether they will have a company or a job to return to.
This is not just about one country, Portugal, going at short notice from green to amber. It is about passengers’ confidence (or lack of it) in booking holidays anywhere in future, when they know that the rules of the game can be changed at the drop of a minister’s signature.
It is impossible to run an airline or travel company in such circumstances. If there are fewer operators when travel resumes, prices will soar. Moreover, who will want to travel with all the tests, codes, form-filling and mask-wearing required – not to mention the extra expense?
Robert Taylor
Nottingham
SIR – I couldn’t disagree more with Michael Robinson (Letters, June 3), who says the existing restrictions should not be lifted until the national vaccination programme is “complete”.
By this, does he mean until every man, woman and child is vaccinated? We could be waiting a very long time.
New variants will be constantly evolving – it’s what viruses do – but the fact that they may be more transmissible does not necessarily mean they are more deadly. A longer, more harmful lockdown will certainly not help us to live with the virus.
Marilyn Parrott
Altrincham, Cheshire
SIR – You report that the work-from-home guidance may be extended, in order to mitigate the effects of relaxing other restrictions.
It will be of little use to hospitality and other businesses in city centres to have restrictions relaxed if their customers are still discouraged from travelling there. Such a move would also show considerable disregard for the mental health of those who have been isolated in back bedrooms and at kitchen tables for the last 15 months.
We have been deprived of normal contact with our colleagues, customers and clients since March 2020, and are sick of Zoom. For the Government to sentence us to yet more of this for an indeterminate period, purely to permit others to pack the bar at the local pub, would be verging on the callous.
Philip de Voil
Leicester
Anti-Semitism scourge
SIR – The record number of anti-Semitic incidents reported in May, discussed by Allister Heath, is deeply concerning.
The disgraceful anti-Semitism seen from a small number of protesters undermined those who were peacefully and reasonably calling for justice, equal rights and safety for both Palestinians and Israelis.
While there can be legitimate criticism of both sides in this conflict, there can be no justification for the deplorable attacks we have seen on British Jews – or British Muslims – neither of whom are responsible for the actions of their co-religionists.
They should, however, now work together to help to bring about the peace, dignity and security that both Palestinians and Israelis deserve.
Dr Raghib Ali
High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire
Masks in church
SIR – There is something deeply discouraging – and, dare I say it, even discriminatory – in the regulation requiring worshippers to remain masked for services in church even when distancing rules are observed.
There have recently been many photographs of crowds at sports events, indoor concerts, entertainments and social gatherings at which nobody appears to be masked. The response to the question of masking for worship, together with the matter of singing in public, has been met with patronising pronouncements from government ministers and baffling regulations.
The extraordinary rollout of the vaccines surely means that freedom of worship must resume as soon as possible.
Rev Michael J Maine
Cuckfield, West Sussex
Woke intolerance
SIR – Simon Heffer eloquently portends the demise of “wokeism”.
Two aspects of this loathsome influence particularly disturb me. The first is its oppressiveness towards nonconformists – hence the BLM assumption that anyone who resists “taking the knee” is a wicked would-be racist. As Mr Heffer writes, one should be free, not forced, to express opinion.
Secondly, as a former academic, I condemn with Mr Heffer the apparent infection of universities – cancel culture, no-platforming of visiting speakers and the like. It should hardly be necessary for a government to impose free speech on any institution worthy of university status.
Robust debate and toleration of differing views should be of such an institution’s very essence, as some in Cambridge now belatedly recognise.
John Kidd
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
Double hero
SIR – Your report on the death of Alfred White says he was believed to be the last surviving Dunkirk and D-Day veteran.
The Royal British Legion branch of which I am president has a dual veteran who has just celebrated his 102nd birthday. He also commanded a swimming tank, which he successfully landed on the beach.
E A Stansfield
Elland, West Yorkshire
SIR – My uncle, HW Peter Coleman, was also a veteran of Dunkirk and D-Day. He is still well and truly alive, and celebrated his 100th birthday in January.
Peter Freeman
Dundee
Perils of inflation
SIR – Jeremy Warner so often gets it right, but I take issue with his argument in favour of wage growth and consequent inflation.
We are in a unique situation. The population has been released to go shopping just as supply chains are affected by Covid and Brexit, as well as the Taiwan chip shortage and the aftermath of the Suez blockage. Couple this with an American president on a spending spree, and inflation could easily get out of control.
Remember 1975: inflation at 24 per cent, mitigated in my case by a 27 per cent NHS pay rise (I still have the payslips), which of course only made things worse. Much blame was put on the oil price rise, but it was probable that Richard Nixon’s disastrous Keynesian fiscal policies had the greater effect.
By all means let inflation drift up a couple of per cent, but the Bank of England must have its foot ready on the brake pedal.
Dr Michael Pegg
Esher, Surrey
Yacht-stoppers
SIR – Yet again Tony Blair is being blamed for the decommissioning of the Royal Yacht Britannia (report, May 30).
The decision to decommission the ship was in fact made in June 1994 by the then prime minister, John Major. It was argued that the costs of refitting it would be too great.
No immediate decision about a replacement was then made and it became a political issue in the run-up to the general election in 1997. In October that year, the Labour government announced that there would be no replacement. Mr Blair was therefore effectively confirming the decision that had already been made by his predecessor three years earlier.
Garry P High
Guildford, Surrey
Happy slimming
SIR – Julie Burchill argues that “Life begins when you don’t give a stuff about your size”.
I disagree with her. I have reduced my weight to 135 lbs and waist to 32 inches on delicious food. Most days, I eat multi-seeded bread, broccoli, plain fish, a nut cutlet, tomatoes, strawberries and other fruit and vegetables.
I drink coffee and tea with semi-skimmed milk and also wheat beer. I am 85.
Dr Tony Hall
London SW20
The cat with an ear for the great composers
SIR – Ivan Hewett considers whether animals can enjoy music.
Many years ago, I could always determine if my ginger tom was in the house snoozing somewhere by taking out my classical guitar and launching into a piece of repertoire. He had a particular penchant for preludes – some slow (Heitor Villa-Lobos) and some a little more pacy (JS Bach).
He would silently slope in, seating himself close in front of me and gazing intently, before visibly relaxing – an uncritical audience, until eventually he retired back upstairs.
Roy S Nicholson
Wakefield, West Yorkshire
Folly of forcing heat pumps on homeowners
SIR – Environmental initiatives often backfire – the switch from petrol to diesel cars being one obvious example.
Next could be the plan to replace gas boilers with electric heat pumps. A reader with experience of one recently reported that it was so noisy as to be unusable. Alan Duncalf (Letters, May 30) also mentions a number of drawbacks.
The Energy Savings Trust (EST) could only recommend them for new-build homes with under-floor heating, or well-insulated homes without a gas supply. Unable to produce hot water, they would need back-up from electric immersion heaters, undermining their energy-saving claims. The EST calculated that installation would cost up to £19,000 and save up to £30 per annum over gas or oil boilers, taking 633 years to recoup the cost.
Is it wise to ban gas boilers when heat pumps are not widely affordable – and are unsuitable for many homes?
Keith Forsdick
Looe, Cornwall
SIR – We had a ground source heat pump installed five years ago.
The total cost will be reimbursed by the Government under its Renewable Heat Incentive scheme over a seven-year period. The unit is no larger than an equivalent gas or oil-fired boiler. A proportion of our electricity requirement is provided by solar panels on the roof of our garage.
The system generates enough hot water for all our needs, as well as excellent heating.
David Mansfield
Knutsford, Cheshire
SIR – We have had a ground source heat pump since 2009 and cannot praise it enough.
Our property is 200 years old and stone-built. Heat and hot water are plentiful and the heat pump (the size of a large fridge) fits comfortably in the garage.
I invite Mr Duncalf to visit and see for himself how very efficient it is.
John Kania
Lincoln
Mr Mansfield’s letter is misleading. The Government gives approx £1000- pa(index linked) for seven years towards the cost of installing an heat pump.
Unless you live in a cheap area of the country we strongly suspect that “supply and fit” will cost considerably more than £7000-
You will also find that running costs are noticeably more than gas or oil central heating.
Installing solar panels is an additional expense.
The Government didn’t give Mr Mansfield so much as a bean. The taxpayers are, yet again, funding this folly.
You’re quite right!

Happy Sunday & Good Morning Citroen1
With the current shower in the HoP the sacrifices made by so many from 1939 – 1945 to ensure that totalitarianism was defeated have been blown away. The failing Labour Party, especially since Blair’s time, hasn’t disguised its hatred of the Country but the fact Johnson stood for election on the Conservative mandate when it’s clear that he, and many in his party, are not Conservative by any stretch of the imagination. What the former Conservative Party has morphed into under Johnson is open to debate but Conservative it is not.

England will take a knee before Euro 2020 matches. 6 June 2021.
England will continue to take a knee before their games throughout Euro 2020 and are “more determined than ever” to ignore any boos from the stands, according to manager Gareth Southgate.
Small group dynamics dictate that most will join any movement or option that looks like being the majority view; particularly if its leader espouses it and there may be harshly negative Social and Economic consequences if you don’t. It takes high moral courage to opt out of such a situation.
Regretfully I am not a Football Supporter or I would go along just to Boo!

better still, a crowd of no one turns up. Southgate knows how to self alienate – as he’ll find out
Massive stupidity being demonstrated by Southgate and the players. They do not seem to understand that many of the supporters do not view the knee-taking as an anti-racism gesture, but as a demonstration of support for a racist, marxist political movement. To avoid embarrassing themselves further, the England team could easily find another way of showing their opposition to racism, or just drop it altogether.

Over the years, Stonewall has done much to help the gay community in many ways and forms.
However, I am somewhat aghast at their latest demands that we alter our vocabulary to remove such expressions as “Mother”, “Father”, “Boys” and “Girls” from everyday vocabulary. Seemingly to appease the militant trans activists.
Sorry, but in my view, if a tiny, tiny minority decide to adopt an alternative view of who they are, then while that is ok for them they have no right to demand the majority must alter their vocabulary to appease their chosen identity.
On the contrary, while they are at liberty to identify as whatever they wish, they have no right to demand the rest of us abandon our identity to suit them.
They chose their path and must accept it as the minority it is.

333951+ up ticks,
Morning Each,
Sunday 6 June: The Government is losing public confidence won by its vaccine success
Hogwash pure & simple, the confidence was lost decades ago by the decent peoples of this Country in opposition to the fools continuing to support / vote for a close shop mass uncontrolled immigration, ongoing, paedophile umbrella coalition.
The voting pattern especially openly seen these last three decades, has had the electorate in the name of the , in name only, lab/lib/con
coalition winning short term pyrrhic battles again & again against each other but losing in the long term against a force that is building daily & who are NOW beginning to show.
Hate preachers now a ‘priority threat’ amid concerns over return of Islamist extremism. 6 June 2021.
Hate preachers will be treated as a “priority threat” and tackled as part of the Government’s counter-terrorism strategy, amid concerns about a resurgence of Islamist extremism.
The Telegraph understands ministers are preparing to direct counter-terrorism officials to monitor and “disrupt” the activities of those who “promote fear and division”, without involvement in terror.
One former counter-terrorism officer suggested that the move could lead to officials and police attempting to prevent certain extremists from distributing material on the streets or holding large events, and challenging them when they speak in public.
Threat? Return? It never went away! This approach is itself a cop out. A publicity gimmick. A means of persuasion that something is being done. It isn’t!
The number of “Hate Preachers” is miniscule and even if implemented (it won’t be) will have not the slightest effect on Muslim sentiment. The truth is that the PTB are so terrified of these people that they would do anything rather than provoke them. One has only to look at the Channel Crossings, Batley Man; the anti-Semitic protests and the frantic suppression of any news about attacks until it can be proved that they have no Islamic Connection. The only bright spot is that the Muslims do not yet seem to have realised that they are dealing with Political Cowardice on a truly monumental scale. The UK is theirs for the taking! They need merely to shake the tree and it will fall into their lap!

Reinforcements for the Anti-British forces in the Latent Civil war.
I think you are wrong about the number of hate preachers being miniscule.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-9648477/Author-visited-Muslim-mosques-Britain-reveals-no-areas-white-men.html
Agreed – they have no need to preach in public – do it over the internet.
on one knee of course walter
…and in the Mosques every Friday and daily in the madrassas.
Morning Sos. No. The term “Hate Preachers” is itself an admission that the PTB regard most Imam’s as moderate (how could they do otherwise) so this is strictly limited. There might be a Prosecution for propaganda purposes but aside from that nothing!
You/they are confusing woke perception with the on the ground reality.
The number of hate preachers is huge; particularly if one uses “hate” in the way that the woke
PTB define it.
Islamic supremacy as preached by Imams makes white supremacy look like it is cultural debasement and advanced inferiority.
When they started coming – the public warned against it. The PTB ignored them to show who was in charge. More came. The public warned against them. The PTB ignored them. More came and grooming gangs were known about in our area 40 years ago – yet everything was hushed up and ignored purely to not embarrass the PTB. More came and their actions became more blatant. The PTB turned on the public to blame them – for what the PTB has created – and as you say – Political Cowardice – is now there for all to see. Recorded threats to the Police and their families get no punishment. More and more are being waved in. . . . No need to ask why.
Ah, “disrupting”. In Glasgow, Police Scotland uncovered 46 child rapists. One has been imprisoned. Police “disrupted” their activities.
Can anyone still imagine that the police are working on behalf of the native population?

Morning Horace. Well I don’t!
I don’t even need to look at the article to know they are Pakistani Muslims and similar scum.
The Police are only investigating because they have no choice. I hope they are ashamed of their uniform and themselves.
Now don’t pre-judge these people, Phizz, they’re not all Pakistanis. They have almost nothing in common with each other as far as I see, move along.

All done deliberately – and all well rewarded with free lives here, free NHS etc etc. The govt has NO intention of stopping it either. Gone on for years.

Some Scots agree with you, Walter:
Scottish Diplomacy
One thing about blokes from Scotland is that their hearts and humour are always in the right place!
Jimmy MacDonald, a City Councillor from Glasgow, was asked on a local live radio talk show, just what he thought about the allegations of torture of suspected terrorists. His reply prompted his ejection from the studio, but to thunderous applause from the audience.
His statement:
‘If hooking up one rag-head terrorist’s testicles to a car battery gets the truth out of the lying little camel shagger, to save just one Scottish soldier’s life, then I have only three things to say: Red is positive, Black is negative and make sure his nuts are wet’
Love it!
Isn’t Gareth Southgate a hate preacher?
he soon will be
Hate preachers now a ‘priority threat’ amid concerns over return of Islamist extremism.

A Whole Week’s Stories
Monday
The mother of a 17-year-old girl was concerned that her daughter was having sex.
Worried the girl might become pregnant and adversely impact the family’s status, she consulted the family doctor.
The doctor told her that teenagers today were very wilful and any attempt to stop the girl would probably result in rebellion. He then told her to arrange for her daughter to be put on birth control and until then, talk to her and give her a box of condoms.
Later that evening, as her daughter was preparing for a date, the mother told her about the situation and handed her a box of condoms. The girl burst out laughing and reached over to hug her mother, saying,
‘Oh Mom! You don’t have to worry about that! I’m dating Susan!’
Tuesday
A man went to church one day and afterward he stopped to shake the preacher’s hand.
He said, ‘Preacher, I’ll tell you, that was a damned fine sermon. Damned good!’
The preacher said, ‘Thank you, sir, but I’d rather you didn’t use profanity.’
The man said, ‘I was so damned impressed with that sermon I put five thousand dollars in the offering plate!’
The preacher said, ‘No shit?’
Wednesday
Brenda and Steve took their six-year-old son to the doctor.
With some hesitation, they explained that although their little angel appeared to be in good health, they were concerned about his rather small penis.
After examining the child, the doctor confidently declared, ‘Just feed him pancakes. That should solve the problem.’
The next morning when the boy arrived at breakfast, there was a large stack of warm pancakes in the middle of the table.
‘Gee, Mom,’ he exclaimed. ‘For me?’
‘Just take two,’ Brenda replied. ‘The rest are for your father.’
Thursday
One night, an 87-year-old woman came home from
Bingo to find her 92-year-old husband in bed with another woman.
She became violent and ended up pushing him off the balcony of their 20th floor apartment, killing him instantly.
Brought before the court, on the charge of murder, she was asked if she had anything to say in her defence.
‘Your Honour,’ she began coolly, ‘I figured that at 92, if he was such a Superman that he could still screw, I thought he could fly too.’
Friday
A Doctor was addressing a large audience in Tampa.
‘The material we put into our stomachs is enough to have killed most of us sitting here, years ago. Red meat is awful. Soft drinks corrode your stomach lining. Chinese food is loaded with MSG. High fat diets can be disastrous, and none of us realizes the long-term harm caused by the germs in our drinking water.
However, there is one thing that is the most dangerous of all and we all have eaten, or will eat it. Can anyone here tell me what food it is that causes the most grief and suffering for years after eating it?’
After several seconds of quiet, a 75-year-old man in the front row raised his hand, and softly said,
‘Wedding Cake.’
Saturday
Bob, a 70-year-old, extremely wealthy widower, shows up at the Country Club with a breathtakingly beautiful and very sexy 25-year-old blonde-haired woman who knocks everyone’s socks off with her youthful sex appeal and charm and who hangs over Bob’s arm and listens intently to his every word.
His buddies at the club are all aghast.
At the very first chance, they corner him and ask, ‘Bob, how’d you get the trophy girlfriend?’
Bob replies, ‘Girlfriend? She’s my wife!’
They are knocked over, but continue to ask. ‘So, how’d you persuade her to marry you?’
‘I lied about my age’, Bob replies.
‘What, did you tell her you were only 50?’
Bob smiles and says, ‘No, I told her I was 90.’
Sunday
Groups of Americans were traveling by tour bus through Holland.
As they stopped at a cheese farm, a young guide led them through the process of cheese making, explaining that goat’s milk was used.
She showed the group a lovely hillside where many goats were grazing.
‘These’ she explained, ‘Are the older goats put out to pasture when they no longer produce.’
She then asked, ‘What do you do in America with your old goats?’
A spry old gentleman answered, ‘They send us on bus tours!

On topic: Bloody right people are losing confidence. And ruining the holidays of thousands is doing nothing for our good will.
This country does not have the leisure capacity to exploit the heap of cash people are sitting on, and what capacity it had has been rotted by the lockdown. Small businesses are loath to invest in modernaisation when they are unsure that they will recoup the investment. So while we are prevented from travelling there are few affordable places to go with a family of any size – the South West, at least is chokka.
So people hoping to travel will simply keep their money and wait – which is to the liking of some, admittedly as that money gets used to play whatever investment games the banks choose.
– as for travel
– we cannot use the free tests which were good enough to justify telling us the country was in the middle of a plague. Instead we have to get tests for £100 pp, roughly. Difficult for some and unconscionable for a family. A penalty on all but the very wealthy – typical hard line socialism.
– then whether you vaccinated and test negative or not you have to isolate for 10 days on return from amber countries. People do not have the leave allocation to do that. So they are stuck here and they know it does not make sense. So trapping people here for the summer is just going to cause resentment. Who cares?
I really hope there is a reckoning. There is mounting resentment at the transparency of the con: – The only way out was the vaccine
– but there was never any promise that this would give us the freedoms we hoped for. And in fact, no country is linking vaccination to freedom, that I can see. It was just a carrot dangling exercise;
– while the vaccines were rolling out the government extended its lockdown options – why would it do that if it had any faith in the vaccines, or if they ever intended to let us run our lives as we used to?
I am hopeful because there is movement in the narrative at the top – it is becoming increasingly easy to find articles on the profilactic and therapeutic benefits of ivermecitne whereas HCQ was actively hidden by big Google; Fauci and Gates are under the spotlight; please God Hancock et al are next.
” you have to isolate for 10 days on return from amber countries. ” – unless your name is Gove and part of the elite. He’s special.
Yes but they seem to be turning on him – see recent articles saying the EU preferred dealing with him.
Not really a surprise they are queueing up to knife the little snake in the back.
Mmm, but Fauci and Gates as well… are things shifting?
https://youtu.be/moydZ3IbzXg
I’m getting the distinct impression Fauci and billy boy are being lined up as collateral damage and shift the spotlight elsewhere
Of course the EU did. Next after Treason May.

I am pleased to report that in Swanage several of the small businesses have taken the advantage of modernising and refurbishing during the lockdown, and it was very much needed. Some of the established businesses have closed, unfortunately, but reassuringly new ones have appeared to replace them. The crowds are now coming back (although the weather today is not likely to encourage more to come into town – it’s foggy). I am optimistic that as long as we don’t get yet another surge in Covid cases as we did after the relaxation last year, things will improve very soon.
The problem is that there are still people who think Covid was a hoax and that the restrictions are not necessary. The evidence says otherwise, people, so get over it. Let’s “beat” the disease so we can get back to normal in a degree of safety and with confidence that it won’t come back to this extent again.
(PS: I think you meant “typical hard line capitalism“?)

After Trump: Biden set to outline US policy to Johnson, Putin and more. 6 June 2021.
Finally, Biden will head to Geneva for a potentially chilly encounter with Vladimir Putin on 16 June. Biden said in February he had warned the Russian leader that “the days of the United States rolling over in the face of Russia’s aggressive actions – interfering with our elections, cyberattacks, poisoning its citizens – are over”. In March, Biden assented to a description of Putin as a “killer”.
I am still unable to see how a cognitively impaired US President can engage with the smartest Russian Leader since Catherine the Great. One just has to assume that there will be the modern day equivalent of someone behind the throne whispering the answers! Perhaps an implant?
This said one has to imagine Putin listening to this tirade of Fake News, False Flags and Propaganda knowing it to be Lies from someone he knows to be personally depraved and utterly corrupt. Why one asks would he put himself through this and agree to this Summit? It cannot be because he believes in American Goodwill. He’s too smart to fall for that. It must be to reinforce his warnings that Russia will no longer tolerate American Hostility. Face to face. On the record!

Well, that’s illegal immigration sorted. Well Done, Ms Patel! The Home Secretary is going to clamp down on videos and films of illegal immigrants arriving here. She will ensure that these videos are banned from social networks. That will sort things out. Because the people smugglers will not be able to use these films as demonstrations of how easy it is to get to the UK, and how new arrivals are welcomed with blankets and hot tea.
Very clever. Ms Patel! Of course, some of the more realistic, even cynical, amongst us might think that you’re just trying to cover up the evidence of your failure to stop this influx of young islamists of military age?

If the government wanted to stop illegals arriving they would do as Australia did and ship them back to France immediately.
The fact that they have not done so is conclusive proof to most of us that the government actually wants illegal immigrant to come to Britain.

Ollie Robinson’s quite a cricketer: a few thoughtless Twitter swipes in 2012 have hit his career for six
Rod Liddle
Sunday June 06 2021, 12.01am, The Sunday Times
In October 1992 England played Norway at football in a World Cup qualifier. At a training session before the match a Norwegian reporter asked England’s most gifted star, the not entirely sensible Paul Gascoigne, if he had a message for the people of Norway. “Yes,” Paul replied. “F*** off, Norway.”
I can’t, offhand, think of a funnier response to the question than that, but then I have a puerile turn of mind. In truth, I don’t know how the reporter expected him to respond. This was Gazza, not Immanuel Kant. Was he hoping for something like: “I applaud your mixed economy, in which the ravages of capitalism are mediated by a strong commitment to a welfare state. Also, thanks for that Christmas tree you send us every year.”
Gazza was not dropped from the game as a consequence and indeed the general response was one of widespread hilarity. Nobody, back then, expected sportsmen and women to behave in accordance with protocol laid down by a Guardian editorial meeting. Nobody, back then, co-opted footballers and cricketers into a political agenda and had them bobbing up and down on their knees, either. They were seen as what they were: incredibly talented professionals who you probably wouldn’t want running the country.
If only Ollie Robinson had been plying his trade then. But he had yet to be born. The England bowler seems likely to be dropped from the second Test against New Zealand because of tweets he sent in 2012 — yes, nine years ago, when he was a teenager.
The tweets were apparently racist and sexist, and Robinson was forced into one of those familiar grovelling apologies. (Here’s a tip, Ollie: never apologise to them. Never give these scumbags what they want.) Now his career — which was, in its early days, in danger of imploding, and which he resurrected by hard work and discipline — hangs in the balance.
Do the commissars who police the language of everyone not have even the remotest capacity for forgiveness? Are they not capable of overlooking the indiscretions of youth, the witterings of, basically, children? It would seem not.
Right now we are in the grip of an absolutism which would do credit to the old Soviet Union, or indeed Torquemada. Not only must you agree with everything we say, but you must always have agreed with it before we even said it. Wrongthink can stretch all the way back. Everything you have ever said will destroy you.
I took a look at those old tweets, shielding my eyes slightly in case they were as bad as people had said. They were described on air and in print as being “vile”, “disgusting”, “repulsive” — and that was by people who were supporting Robinson’s cause to be kept in the England team. Yes, these days even your allies have to denounce you before they can defend you: this really is 1984 popping along 37 years late.
He made a joke, not a very funny one, linking Muslims to bombs, which struck me as being not terribly original. And another that advanced the proposition that “females who play video games tend to have more sex”. There was no citation of studies for this tweet and I am not certain that is true, still less sexist, or “vile”, or “repulsive”.
Get a grip. Those posts were silly and not much more than that. My guess is that the vast majority of people think Robinson’s likely exclusion is odious. But then I often comfort myself with that kind of thought, without having any proof. So this time I commissioned a poll from Findoutnow.co.uk which showed that only 16 per cent of those who responded thought Robinson should be dropped. Why are we perpetually dictated to by that hugely annoying 16 per cent?
There is one more point. Just a small one and today, I suppose, of little consequence. Freedom of speech. We’re all meant to have it, no matter how horrid the stuff we say. But the left insists that there must be consequences for wrongthink.
Fine, sure: I might not recommend Ollie Robinson as the next chairman of the Equality and Human Rights Commission. But do we all have to think exactly the same thing even if we’re just going to throw a ball at someone?
If, as seems likely, England drop Robinson for these reasons from the next Test, I hope they get well and truly stuffed by the Kiwis. And those of us who find this hounding outrageous can sit at home and think, pace Gazza: f*** off, England.
More EU countries on amber list

I am indebted to my colleague Richard Morrison of The Times for alerting the world to the horrors inflicted on this country by “public art” — that is to say, art you can’t avoid. You might particularly enjoy an installation at Hastings entitled Seawall, by a chap called Andreas Angelidakis. “Softening what at first appears hard, Angelidakis’s artwork queers the idea of the seawall, playing with people’s expectations and prompting questions while sidestepping any rigid definition”, is what the commissioning body, England’s Creative Coast, said of it.
They are some large grey blocks. Couldn’t he have just knocked up a nice statue of Cecil Rhodes instead?
BBC has a Hitler’s bunker mentality
Sorry to keep banging on about this, but it is now two weeks since the BBC announced it was going to investigate the case of its digital journalist Tala Halawa, and still no news.
They are presumably mulling over the issue of whether believing that “Hitler was right” is a useful qualification for covering the Israeli-Palestinian conflict with exquisite impartiality.
I have sent emails to the BBC press office but they have been met with the kind of complete, enveloping silence that more usually greets BBC Three comedy programmes. Hell, perhaps Tala has been promoted — who knows? After all, her views on Israel probably tend towards the more moderate and kindly end of the BBC’s Arabic service.
• There was outrage and apoplexy at King’s College London, when the university authorities included a photograph of the Duke of Edinburgh in a recent round-robin email. That familiar massed ovine bleat wentup: raacisst.
Full of steel and sinew, the university immediately apologised for any offence it may have caused. Not all photographs cause offence, however.
King’s College is still proudly displaying a huge poster championing the talents of that great, crusading journalist … Martin Bashir.
Ollie Robinson had his career saved by Jason Gillespie. Gillespie then Yorkshire coach had him fired for bad attitude [nothing to do with texts]. Robinson goes to Sussex, Gillespie becomes coach of Sussex. Gillespie got him on track and as a result into England team. Robinson will be in same position as Alex Hales. They’ll get rejected by a conformist PC ECB and both will be very good international players [IPL, Big Bash etc.. Don’t expect ECB to change stance, they’re merely the PC front of house echo chamber propaganda who, like political parties and MSM aren’t interested in people merely the mechanism to attempt to make money via tv revenue
Yes, most professional sports people are essentially ‘front of house’ for advertising goods & services.
But ’twas ever thus, which is why Gentlemen and Players had separate changing rooms. (IMHO)
When I was in hospital yesterday , I heard about a new scam being perpetuated by Nigerian fraudsters by telephone to” communidies”, as told to me by a very charming Zimbabwean nurse … Imagine picking up the phone and a Nigerian voice speaks to you purporting to come from your bank .. The good folk of Kenya and Zim etc have a dim view of Nigerians , trouble makers , scammers, and very dishonest!
“Madam, or Sir good morning , we are sorry to tell you that an injured pigeon is sitting in your bank account , poor bird is very hungry and making a noise , we need your bank account and sort code so that we can release the poor thing before it makes too much of a mess”
I was told that that is a popular ruse , and many people have fallen for it .
the classic response is to give the bank account and sort code of the Nigerian High Commission

Good morning, everyone.
Good morning.
Good morning, my friends.
I told you so! I’m sorry if I sound self-righteously priggish but did I or did I not post here my fears about what Gove was up to when he arrived in Brussels just before the surrender deal was struck? Here is a BTL comment under the article:
So this confirms what many of us thought: Britain held firm on both Northern Ireland and British control over fishing until Gove arrived in Brussels two days before the deal was struck and Boris Johnson capitulated and gave us the surrender with which we are now lumbered.
Shame on Johnson, Shame on Gove – they are both EU lackeys and traitors to Great Britain. And shame on Farage for saying it was a good deal before he had even looked at it properly.

We preferred working with Michael Gove say EU diplomats
Politicos blame Lord Frost for politicising disagreements over the NI Protocol, which prevents a hard border on the island of Ireland
James Crisp – the DT’s Europe EU sycophant
Good morning Rastus, and other Nottlers.
Like many Telegraph articles, the comments have more flavour du jour than the actual text.
Last night one of the top BTL remarks was essentially “crack on, Frosty!”.
Gove and Johnson clearly undermined Frost.
I hope that Frost will first clear up the mess that is this capitulation deal and then reveal just what Gove and Johnson did to undermine Britain’s interests and why they did it.
Just more confirmation that the Conservative MPs in the main are just the same as all the others in Westminster, Europhiles at heart, willing to put the interests of the EU before the UK.
I considered the much vaunted ERG as a token rebel group controlled by the party. Where is the ongoing condemnation of the fishing fiasco or the border between NI and the rest of the UK? Deafening silence from Steve Baker, JRM, David Davis, Mark Francois, IDS and the rest. Shame on them all.
Or the invasion!

‘Morning vvof,
Regrettably the concept of shame is unknown to those people.
Morning lass, it goes further than that I think, they take pleasure in the fact they are screwing us over.
A new vent for the bullies…
Nigel Farage capitulated at the vital moment before the election just as Boris capitulated just as the deadline for striking a deal arrived: Farage stood down his Brexit Party candidates in seats held by Conservative remainers which means that from the very start, even with his thumping majority, Johnson leads a government which is still pro-EU.
And Farage said it was an acceptable deal! I used to think that Farage was one of the good guys – he may be a brilliant orator but when it comes to the crunch he is as weak as water.
I used to think that Steve Baker, Mark Francois and Jacob Grease-Smogg gave us some hope for the future of the Conservative Party but they have revealed themselves to have no backbone at all. Come the crunch and, like Farage, they all crumbled.
Agreed, such a disappointment, at least with the likes of Starmer, Clegg or Corbyn to name just 3 you knew them for what they are.
Both after a seat in brussels – power and money !!!!!!

The Windrush immigrants must be regretting the harm these BLM characters are doing to their reputation.
the plus side is there’s plenty of spare capacity in the boats for the return journey
There should be an opinion poll with a simple question:
Has the Black Lives Matter Movement improved or worsened race relations?
We have a delightful priest from Burkina Faso who took the service this morning and gave an excellent address to the congregation of which several were young people taking their first communion.
On Friday and Saturday there was a massacre by Muslims of 138 black people in Burkina Faso. What a shame that black lives matter so little to people in Africa. Our poor priest was devastated as he knew some of the slaughtered people.
There should also be a space for those who think BLM has improved race relations to state how it has made that improvement.
The Black Looting Mob nonsense was an excuse for the usual rentamob who’d spent 7 months not stabbing, shooting or selling drugs to demand they be given more despite not earning it – so they stole what they wanted.
They are blatantly racist – the clue is in the name.

But which one is it?
Here’s a clue:
https://www.the-scientist.com/news-opinion/a-guide-to-emerging-sars-cov-2-variants-68387
I don’t think it is fair to lumber the Greeks with categorising the whole range of mutant viruses using their limited alphabet.
I still think that the Greek alphabet is the wrong one to use. There are some Asian languages with more than double the number of letters that would be more in keeping with their variant bingo.
Don’t forget Klingon.
I find that invaluable for conserving food.
I use mine for climbing molehills.
Now there’s an idea to get acceptance of the concept of living with the virus:
Variant Bingo!
But what to you shout when you get a full house?
Gosh, that virus is even cleverer than we thought. Not only can it tell the time, it can use a spirograph.

UK foreign aid cuts ‘will leave 100,000 refugees without water’. 6 June 2021.
UK aid cuts of 42% will leave about 70,000 people without health services and 100,000 without water in Cox’s Bazar, the world’s largest refugee settlement, before the deadly cyclone season, the Foreign Office minister for Asia has been warned.
What are they doing? Buying them Highland Spring from the local Supermarket?

Afternoon Angie. I admit my post was somewhat flippant but that we are here in the Twenty First Century and over 2 Trillion dollars has been spent on aid over the last seventy years and they still can’t supply clean water?
The Advert on UK tv that shows the young kids drinking clean water from a newly installed tap gets me – – if water is so scarce there – why do they leave the tap running?
I don’t believe water is scarce. They lack infrastructure and ability.
Kutupalong refugee camp is the world’s largest refugee camp. It is
in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, inhabited mostly by Rohingya
refugees that fled from ethnic and religious persecution in neighboring

the other being the Nayapara refugee camp. Wikipedia
Of course they wouldn’t dream of limiting their breeding !
Nor would they dream of beating up their Burmese masters who finally ran out of patience and kicked them ALL out.
There’s an object lesson.
Boris’ climate change policies will leave 80 million without it. I don’t care.
We’ve given them hundreds of billions over the years. If they’ve not dug a trench now, tough.
Yet… the third world doesn’t want money. It wants trade. However, the EU – yes, again – rigs the market for EU nations making it harder for business in the poorer nations to trade.
It’s comical. The Left want to give money away – as long as it’s not their own and they support the thing keeping the poorer nations poor. It’s almost as if they don’t understand anything and wail and waffle about things they don’t really, if they were honest; care about!
Any Tory MP who opposes foreign aid cuts deserves to feel the wrath of the voters
By trying to reverse the cuts, they are setting themselves against the interests and instincts of their own constituents.

ii)

And by their vices brought to servitude,
Than to love Bondage more than Liberty,
Bondage with ease than strenuous liberty;”

Well off MPs have NO concern whatsoever about throwing millions of other people’s cash about – just so THEY look good. I wish the tv program makers would do a different version to Rich House Poor House . . . where an MP who wants mass immigration has to go and live with a white English family who lives in an immigrant dominated area. For a month !!!
Foreign aid as we dole it out is just a way of transferring money from poor people in rich countries to rich people in poor countries.
Same with the climate scam and migration. They even admitted it !

Will we ever see how many still have no contact with their parents when the “unaccompnied minors” have been moved into houses? I predict a miracle where their parents suddenly make contact again – and instead of sending the child back to the parents – our govt will welcome the family to come and freeload as well. Of course – all these “children” will be under 12 as usual – and 6ft + with beards. Pay the traffickers for one – get the rest in free.

Good afternoon, Minty.
I will be looking very closely at all my purchases.
I on occasion bought a sandwich when ‘on the go’ but after seeing inside one of the factory that make them and who they employ, i stopped.
Same with Indian and Chinese restaurants. I watched a video recording of a man gobbing into a pot of curry sauce.
Filthy, disgusting.
I’ve worked in several food factories in the UK where the non-technical staff are invariably immigrants. As long as it’s highly automated you’re reasonably safe. Ethnic Cafe’s and Restaurants? Not for me! Read Orwell’s, Down and Out in Paris!
At catering college in 1973 it was required reading! (Paris and London!)
Quite often I will call at a lovely sandwich shop, the staff English, and food nice. You can see them make the sandwiches a few feet away. They have been having the door open but blocked off and serving there. The other day two Asian chaps were outside, who ordered, then once they got their food, stood there to eat it – all the while one had been coughing and coughing. The owner, glaring at them, asked them if they had a car – yes – well would you go and eat your food in that instead of coughing here all the time. . . No apology. . They walked off . . .still coughing. They clearly couldn’t see anything wrong in what they had been doing.
That’s quite understandable Walter. I don’t even eat those sandwiches in the Supermarkets since it is obvious that their production must certainly involve the hands of ethnic labour!
Thanks. Will do. Available free on Project Gutenberg Australia.
I know his works are very descriptive. I read Road to Wigan Pier and it had quite an effect on me.
Just bought a copy from Abe Books for £2.50.
The opening lines has me hooked straight away.
“THE rue du Coq d’Or, Paris, seven in the morning. A succession
of furious, choking yells from the street. Madame Monce, who kept
the little hotel opposite mine, had come out on to the pavement to
address a lodger on the third floor. Her bare feet were stuck into
sabots and her grey hair was streaming down.
MADAME MONCE: ‘Salope! Salope! How many times have I told
you not to squash bugs on the wallpaper? Do you think you’ve bought
the hotel, eh? Why can’t you throw them out of the window like
everyone else? Putain! Salope!’
THE WOMAN ON THE THIRD FLOOR: ‘Vache!’
Thereupon a whole variegated chorus of yells, as windows were
flung open on every side and half the street joined in the quarrel.
They shut up abruptly ten minutes later, when a squadron of cavalry
rode past and people stopped shouting to look at them.”

About 5 or 6 years ago, my younger brother went down with a stomach bug which was diagnosed as typhoid fever. He was rushed into hospital and had to stay in partial isolation for a couple of weeks. He was asked if he had recently been abroad – no. On investigating the incubation period for typhoid fever, he worked out that he had probably caught it during a walking holiday in the Lake District. He and a few friends had gone to an Indian restaurant in one of the towns. He remembered asking for a glass of water and that the waiter who brought it to him had this thumb inside the glass. This was probably the cause – most Indian restaurants are actually run by Bangladeshis, most of whom are Muslim – and we know about their lavatorial practices. A person from a public health authority contacted my brother in an attempt to trace the source of the infection, but nothing came of it. It was probably a Typhoid Mary – probably an illegal Bangladeshi immigrant, who was moved on very quickly when an official called at the restaurant.

Communism is evolving. But the new version isn’t any less toxic than the old
If identity politics takes over from traditional Marxism, it will be every bit as repressive and intolerant as its predecessor.
DANIEL HANNAN – 6 June 2021 • 7:00am
On Thursday, I debated against the cult Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Žižek at the Cambridge Union. The motion? “This House believes that Marx was right.” It is extraordinary, on one level, that such a debate can still be held. No one would dream of discussing whether Torquemada or Mullah Omar or Anders Behring Breivik was right. In the grisly tally of murder, Marxism stands unchallenged. The abominable Atlantic slave trade claimed ten million lives. The Nazis, their evils protracted by the lights of perverted science, killed 17 million. Communism has so far slaughtered 100 million. Marx may not have killed anyone with his own hands. Neither, as far as we know, did Hitler, but no one tries to claim that this exculpates him from the horrors unleashed by his doctrines. Only communists get a special pass here. Every barbarity they inflict is explained away as “not real socialism”.
To see how absurd that is, imagine arguing that Hitler’s crimes were “not real fascism”. Fascism, like every other doctrine, is judged by its actual record. Only communism is treated as textbook theory, too pure and numinous to be sullied by real- world examples. Yet history has furnished us with some laboratory-standard experiments: China versus Taiwan, East Germany versus West Germany, North Korea versus South Korea. While free-marketeers are generally prepared to accept that, say, South Korea, marred by occasional corruption and abuses, is an imperfect capitalist state, Western communists resolutely refuse to allow similar inferences to be drawn about North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela or anywhere else. Such, at any rate, were my arguments in the debate. But I was uneasily aware as I made them that they were unlikely to hit home. Marxism is more like a religious sect than a political creed. The more palpably absurd its tenets become, the more the faithful flaunt their piety by embracing them. Marx insisted that his doctrines were scientific truths rather than political opinions. Yet every prediction he made turned out to be wrong. The market system did not destroy the bourgeoisie – it enlarged it. It did not concentrate wealth in the hands of a tiny oligarchy – it increased it across the board. It did not exhaust resources – it kept finding more. Most obviously, it did not collapse under the weight of its contradictions.
Yet, in every generation, a new crop of devotees arises to explain that this time it will be different, this time the prophecy will be fulfilled. Marxists resemble nothing so much as doomsday cultists, constantly shifting the date of their Armageddon as it keeps failing to materialise. Then again, religions evolve, adapt, spawn heresies that sometimes displace them. During the debate, Žižek told me that he had become something of a hate figure among younger Leftist radicals because he diverged from the woke line on some gender and identity issues.
Woke began as an offshoot of left- wing ideology, transferring the role of the proletariat from the traditional working class to various minorities and ethnicities. But it soon evolved its own dogmas and sacraments, its own purity rites. Like Marxists, wokies are millenarians, working for a magical tomorrow that owes nothing either to past practice or to human frailties.
Like Marxists, they see themselves as an elect, and are constantly on the lookout for deviations from orthodoxy. One of the things they have started to notice is that the old cadger himself had, by their lights, some sacrilegious views. Even if we discount Marx’s abhorrent anti-Semitism (which wokies too rarely count as proper racism), we are left with his dismissal of “backward races”, which he believed would hold humanity back, and his pleasure that “lazy” Mexicans had been conquered by an expanding America: “In America we have witnessed the conquest of Mexico and have rejoiced at it. It is to the interest of its own development that Mexico will be placed under the tutelage of the United States.”
Could it be that the woke are breaking from the old faith? Might they even cancel its original prophet? Žižek told the Cambridge Union that he “radically oposes” radically opposes the politically correct obsession with identity and gender politics. “In this sense, I am an orthodox Marxist”. One thing is already depressingly clear. If identity politics takes over from traditional Marxism, it will be every bit as repressive and intolerant as its predecessor. It has left us in no doubt on that score.

The one thing which needs to be repeatedly quoted when dealing with Marxist believers is the score sheet for deaths ordered by the worst political mass murderers in history. From memory, the running order is:
1. Stalin.
2. Mao.
3. Hitler
4. Lenin.
5. Pol Pot
(Nos 4 and 5 may be the other way round but does it really matter?)
The faithful have a great deal of trouble dealing with that list. The best response I ever encountered was, “Lenin does not belong on that list” … but he put himself there.
The bottom line is that there is no ethical or moral difference between a lungful of fascist cyanide or a left wing bullet in the back of the neck. How can they, as Mr Hannan asks, go on suggesting that Marxism is still a creed worth following?
“You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.”
― Abraham Lincoln
It seems that Lincoln was inaccurate, as you can fool all of the academia all of the time
Yet, in every generation, a new crop of devotees arises to explain that this time it will be different, this time the prophecy will be fulfilled.
Yes they tell us this with Cultural Marxism (the cuddly version) but you can already see the divisions and hatred it provokes. Soon it will see an effusion of blood that will make all that has gone before look like a Bolshevik’s Tea Party!
‘Woke snitching forums’ used to report lecturers’ microaggressions could land universities in court
Lawyers have told the prestigious Russell Group of 24 universities that the portals risk infringing freedom of expression
By Ewan Somerville – 6 June 2021 • 12:48pm
Universities have been warned they could face legal action over “woke snitching portals” for racial microaggressions, amid plans to report academics for avoiding eye contact.
Lawyers have told the prestigious Russell Group of 24 institutions that they risk infringing freedom of expression, after The Telegraph found six websites set up for students to denounce their lecturers.
Durham University’s ‘Report + Support’ site lists “not giving someone eye contact” and “constantly criticising and never praising” as potential offences. There is also a button to “anonymously report” individuals to campus authorities.
At St Andrews university, the ‘Report + Support’ site lists potential transgressions as backhanded compliments, avoiding or turning one’s back on certain people and asking a black person if they are wearing their natural hair.
The webpage, allowing students to file anonymous reports, notes: “Microaggressions are brief, everyday interactions that send denigrating messages to people, which are subtle and insidious, often leaving the victim confused, distressed and frustrated and the perpetrator oblivious of the offense they have caused.”
Now, the Free Speech Union has written to university leaders warning such forums “will be open to challenge by students and academics” under new laws being introduced by the Government to combat campus cancel culture.
Lawyers for the union also urged 19 universities in the group to review their reporting tools for harassment, claiming that some make a “systemic error” by ignoring their legal duties to secure free expression.
Toby Young, general secretary of the Free Speech Union, said: “These woke snitching portals are much more widespread than most people think.
“The shocking thing is that most universities have just bought these portals off the shelf and have stuck them on their websites, along with some legally questionable guidance about what is and isn’t a reportable offence, without stopping to consider their legal duty to uphold free speech.
“This has left them vulnerable to legal challenge… and the Free Speech Union won’t hesitate to take action.”
Prof Frank Furedi, a sociologist at Kent University, said: “Even in totalitarian societies, thought policing was a bit more hands off. What they were interested in is what you said, rather than these so-called hidden biases that you have.”
It comes after Cambridge took down its microaggressions reporting site last month where dons could be flagged for raising an eyebrow, following a revolt on campus.
A Russell Group spokesman said: “Our universities have always protected the right to free speech and will continue to do so, while complying fully with laws around harassment and anti-extremism.
“That commitment was underlined recently with the publication of a statement of principles setting out how we protect free speech, which was backed by all members and welcomed by the Government.”

Why does the left get away with saying that Hitler was right wing when he was an extreme left wing National Socialist?
Indeed, Rastus, and I’m bored with asking the same question. I wonder if there are any Right-wing dictator mass murderers at all?
Edit: Capitalisation of Rastus. Sorry 🙁

If I remember rightly Dartmoor Prison was a cardboard replica…..?
Correct – it is now according to Harry Secombe.
I’m so old I can remember when pronouncing the Scottish archipelago as He Brides was considered funny because it was an impossible concept.
Thank you, I can remember my sister, in the 50s, on that subject regaling me with the story of the aged queer, very excitedly telling his equally aged partner that he had got a stunning book from the library, all about He Brides and he wanted to be one.
His partner asked, “And does the book change our lives?” and receives the reply, “No, it’s all about some Scottish Islands!”
I must confess at age 14 or thereabouts, I had no idea what she (my sister) was wiffling on about.
Was it the drink, the drugs or the disgusting sexual practises?

“Italian scientists unleash secret bacteria bioweapon to clean Florence’s Medici Chapel
Experts use microbes to remove centuries of grime from Michelangelo sculptures
6 June 2021 • 7:00am
In the darkest months of the global pandemic, a team of scientists and art restorers in Florence unleashed a bacteriological bioweapon on Michelangelo masterpieces in the Medici Chapels to clean them from centuries of stubborn grime.
A trio of oil, glue and phosphate-consuming microbes employed by the all-woman team of Italian experts has successfully eaten away at stains and residues besmirching the world-famous marble sculptures inside the mausoleum Michelangelo designed for the Medici at the Basilica of San Lorenzo.
On Tuesday, Medici Chapel officials will release new details about the experiment’s efficacy, showcasing how innovative biological technology can help restore sculptures, paintings and other delicate works marred by the passage of time.
The little-known bacterium used to clean up the world famous works were sourced from rather humbler surroundings. One was Serratia Ficaria, known as SH7, which had been isolated in an abandoned Sardinian lead and zinc mine, another was Pseudomonas stutzeri CONC11, which came from a tannery near Naples, and the third was Rhodococcus sp. ZCONT, discovered in diesel-contaminated soil near Caserta.
After just two overnight sessions, the microbes had removed grime present for the last 500 years in the New Sacristy, which houses the largest concentration of Michelangelo’s works in one location, including four allegorical sculptures symbolizing day, night, dawn and dusk.
“In theory we believed it would work because we were using microorganisms that we know have certain applications,” said Annarosa Sprocati, who led a team of microbiology researchers from the Italian National Agency for New Technology. “But it was beautiful when we took the xanthan gel packs off the statues and could see the packs were no longer white but had turned a horrible colour . . . we knew it had been successful.”
The miracle microbes worked overnight. But it had taken the team of scientists, museum officials and restorers eight years of joint analysis, diagnosis and testing to determine how best to solve the problem inside the funeral monument.
Diagnostic tests like infrared spectroscopy helped researchers determine that contaminants were originating from the tomb of Lorenzo, Duke of Urbino, and were made up of silicate, calcite and various organic phosphates.
Researchers determined the culprit was likely the corpse of Lorenzo’s son, Alessandro de Medici, who had been assassinated by a cousin and then improperly buried in his father’s tomb, without evisceration of his internal organs. As the loathed Duke of Florence decomposed, stains seeped into the white Carrara marble favoured by Michelangelo. The miracle microbes, however, made quick work of him.
“They basically ate Alessandro,” Sprocati told the Telegraph. “But of course more than 500 years have gone by, so there was a transformation over time of these organic liquids that had completely traversed the marble.”
Sprocati and her all-female lab team of microbiologists – Chiara, Giada, Flavia and Patrizia – had access to 1,500 different strains of microbes held in Italy’s national labs, but eventually narrowed their choice down to 11 “wild types” of naturally-occurring, innocuous bacterium living in hostile environments like abandoned mines or contaminated sites, which allows them to develop special metabolic responses.
Some bacteria found in diesel-contaminated sites were found to be excellent urban smog feeders, as they had learned to thrive on petroleum, and proved effective cleaners for precious Carracci frescoes in Rome.
The reduced hours of Florence’s museums during the Covid-19 crisis gave the team of scientists and art experts the perfect opportunity to carry out a top-secret experiment – like a forensics squad at a crime scene, they arrived in lab coats and white gloves to apply the microbes on an obscure patch of marble behind the sarcophagus in the Medici Chapel.
After seeing positive results, they later applied the microbes to entire sculptures. Today, tourists eager to put the pandemic behind them will have the bacterium to thank for the new gleam on Michelangelo’s marble masterpieces.”

On Tuesday, you were seated less than 200 metres from Roger Taylor’s front door. Just saying…
If i had known i would have lobbed a brick with a note attached through his living room window asking for his autograph.
What do you reckon my chances?
Probably slightly better than if you had shat upon the doorstep…
Rog’s doorstep is well protected from the proles. As are his windows. A much earlier owner of Puttenham Priory objected to seeing the lower orders passing his house, so he had the main street diverted; demolishing the homes of several of ‘the lower orders’ in the process.
Urban clearance nob style. Like it.
Besides, they have no business living in Surrey.
Quite. Then again, neither have I, really…
Allowances can be made for impoverished but cultured gentlemen.
As a rough-arsed builder / village organist, I have to admit that the CofE can be a great leveller. In my current situation, I’ve played the organ for the funeral of a pikey demolition contractor (think ‘Scrap Kings’), the wedding of Jez Corbyn’s henchman (think ‘no seats on trains’), and declined to play the piano at a reception for the Countess of Wessex…
Now you can see why in some circles the Birmingham crew nicknamed me Hyacinth (Bucket).
I was right. You do have taste.
Quite right too.
If you’ve got it, flaunt it.
But make damned sure that you only flaunt it to your friends.
See sos’s post… :-))
Are you a glazier, perchance?
As it happens, there’s a retired glazier in the village. He retains the skills, but tends to get thrown out of the Good Intent for effing and blinding at everyone.
Two old professional gardening friends of mine (birdwatchers) used to (maybe still do) routine gardening/tree-surgeon work quite frequently for Mr Taylor.
Quite possibly, Grizz. I imagine Surrey has more work for professional gardeners than any other county. Privately owned lawnmowers might not exceed single figures. I exaggerate, obviously, but hopefully you get my drift.
I’ve been a birdwatcher all my life, but never got paid for it!

Nice to see those whom one reads with interest every day. Apart from you, of course.
Nonsense. We tend to meet in Surrey, since it’s central for those attending. And on my doorstep. Next year, prepare to be mercilessly bullied into attending. Perhaps we’ll work on the MR instead… 😀
Well said.
There you would be wasting your time, Geoff. The MR thinks we are all mad – that many contributors don’t exist and has no wish to have anything to do with NoTTL! The handful of posts she made last year was simply because I was in hospital.
In addition to my many other failings, I dislike parties!

No, dear one. Mastercard Platinums in every handbag and wallet. They know how fussy Dolly can be.
Is there something I should know about Mastercard Platinums?
HG is allowed one.
Should I be confiscating it?
Yes ! A Mastercard Platinum is only of any use if linked to someone elses bank account !
Yes.. very suspicious. They look… happy….

Just as it should be.
I see you left most of your meal.
I hope you asked for a Dolly Bag.
Edited to Tuesday. During the pandemic, I’ve stopped noticing what day it is…
That’s me for this sombre day. It was – to me – extraordinary that there were still quite a number of men who were THERE 77 years ago. Many still spritely and in good health.
I shall leave you with the thought that, on balance, the result of the Battle of Normandy was better than had we been driven off the beaches.

Omitted, all the voyage of their life is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat.
And we must take the current when it serves, or lose our ventures.

Germany’s Jews were not behaving as are many of Britain’s Muslims.
Theatre companies have plenty of far-left crackpots.
A Daily Mail article on the subject has also been referred to on here. It included the following
Husain spoke to the director of a local theatre company dedicated to helping disabled children and those with special educational needs, Louise Denham, about how the communities could come together. But she was pessimistic, and warned that Bradford could become ‘an apartheid city’ within 30 years.
She predicted: ‘There’ll be more pushback against diversity. We’ll have parties like Nazi Germany organising against the immigrant and Muslim populations.’
The comparison with the Jews of Germany is false and offensive.

Multiculturalism is an impossibliity. That doesn’t mean one group cannot bring elements to another culture and have those integrated and accepted – Bungalow, classic example. Curry, another. Where things go wrong is when one culture creates a microcosm of it’s own culture, excluding the native one.
Labour supported, endorsed, demanded and promoted this nonsense. Their laws forced this. They *wanted* this. Why? Political machination. Labour wanted a voting bloc.
However, they forgot that those new incomers some might actually want to fit in and live quiet lives and thus won’t, by default vote how Labour expected them to.
In reality, what Husain is complaining about is that his great plan, to flood this country with 20 million Labour voters has failed.
….and just because I feel like it…

Football pundits not happy at half-time when discussing ‘knee’ booing. ‘Despite all the explanations from the England camp there was still some booing’.
Of course we only ever hear from those who are ‘anti’ booing. They can’t (or don’t
want to) realise how the gesture is anathema to many with its subservience to a
racist and Marxist organisation.
Perhaps for once the valid views of fans with opposite viewpoint could be aired on TV.

Well it was a pleasant day until my mother fell in the garden at 5:15. She is unable to walk, is in pain and looks like she might have broken a bone. I rang 999 at 5:30, some 3 hrs ago. I have rung again to check they haven’t forgotten, apparently they are very busy. I’ll get my clapping sticks….
Not good.
Look on the bright side, the longer she’s clear of the NHS…
I hope she’s treated successfully.
Sorry to hear this. Perhaps you should tell them she has suspected Covid? Tomorrow, I need to track down the lesser-spotted GP. I’ve issues with my right hand. Numbness, weakness. I think it’s carpal tunnel syndrome. Difficult/impossible to play the organ when two fingers of the right hand are numb, and don’t flex properly. I won’t hold my breath.

There are too many sensible folk who can see what the global elites are attempting on the world population. There are many doctors and clinical staff who will not take the experimental jabs.
There is a growing awareness of the critical role of media in forcing the views of Pharma and craven, boughten, politicians on the discerning public, albeit many of the rest remain scared shitless by 18 months of contant propaganda.
Developments in the States exposing Fauci (and his wife) as charlatans ‘on the make’ are the conclusive evidence that we have been setup and exploited by university researchers funded by China, corporates, rotten politicos, eco warriors and corrupt and anti-human Pharma companies.

I was hoping that Ollie Robinson would get to bat today. At least he would have tried to win the match. Instead we witnessed Sibley blocking away and his lamentable negative performance endorsed by Joe Root, the supposed captain.
Joe Root should not be captaining England. He cannot set a field. He is a good batsman and slip fielder but has no strategic thinking and no guile. Compare him with Mike Denness, Ray Illingworth, Brian Close and Mike Brearley. No comparison.
I do hope someone looks into the past behaviour of the ECB members.
I see you got a rather nasty reply.
Evening, all. I have my four-footed companion! We have a few adjustments to make (he’s had a few “accidents” in the house, but that’s probably because he’s become institutionalised in kennels – hopefully that will sort itself out with persistence). He was very good in the car, didn’t make a sound and after a while lay down on the seat and dozed. He has many Charlie-esque ways (he was sitting on my feet and was vocal when we stopped), but I have to remember I can’t treat him like Charlie. I forgot for a moment and he reminded me sharpish! He is starting to lie down and relax now. It’s early days; we didn’t get home until 17.30 and then I had to unload the car (he came with his bed, blanket, food, toys, balls and treats) and put it away.
So happy to hear that, Connors and I wish the two of you a very long and happy association. Photos will probably be welcome but take your time to both get to know and bond with each other.
He seems to follow me everywhere. When I left him so I could go to the loo, I could hear him barking! As soon as I came back he stopped. I think at the moment he thinks I’m going to disappear and not come back. Hopefully, he’ll realise that it won’t be like that.
Oh Conway! I’m delighted for you! Was thinking about you earlier this evening and was sure that that glorious dog I saw the picture of, was destined to make your home his own.
Thank you, Sue. He’s here and stretched out fast asleep just where Charlie used to lie (on the floor, next to his bed!).
Conway, good luck with your new doggie!
Thank you, Hat.
Wonderful news Conners. I am very pleased for you.
What’s his/her name, and can we see a photo’?
Conners will be busy I’m sure, but he posted this photo of Oscar yesterday.

Wonderful expressive face!
He’s a character.
What a dude. He looks full of character 😙🐕
He sure is!
Thanks to mola2 you can see he’s a Fox Terrier called Oscar.
HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!
Grand news Conners
Brilliant brilliant brilliant x
Brilliant, he’ll be feeling at home and loved by tomorrow afternoon, at the latest.
I hope he’s already feeling at home and loved.
I daresay he is marking territory !
He is also an older dog , so hanging on tight will be quite confusing for him .
I am a bit concerned that he seems to be drinking a lot, but then it was a hot day. I might just have him checked over by my vet if he carries on like that when it’s cooler. He certainly spent a lot of time marking his territory in the garden 🙂
Could be the heat and of course anxiety etc
Best see the vet though if things don’t change , in a few days .
So glad to hear the news, Conners. KBO…
Thanks, Geoff.
Oscar’s struck lucky, just needs a night to realise it.
He is starting to chill a bit now.

Looks very chilled.
He’s repeating it now while I’m typing on the computer, except I’m upstairs in the radio shack and he’s just lying on the carpet (next to his bed) rather than half on Charlie’s blanket.
At a boy, Oscar! 🙂
Is he a lakeland terrier ?
Fox terrier, Maggie.
Glad to hear he came with his balls, Conners :-))
Only tennis balls; he’s had the snip 🙂
So there is some good news out there! So pleased for you, Conners!😁
Thank you, Paul. I had the devil’s own job getting there; I went straight from the stables and should have made it in plenty of time, but of course I had to go a different route from yesterday. It was going fine until there was a road closure (several in fact), few diversion signs and the satnav got itself in a twist trying to get me back to the road that was closed. In the end I stopped, rang them to say there was no way I was going to get there on time, but I would be there and went home in order to reach the place from there. I ended up taking two hours for what should have been a 55 minute journey. They were so concerned they rang me to see if I was okay, but I was four miles away and driving, so I couldn’t answer. Then, when I did arrive they wanted me to have another visit before they’d release him! When they realised what a journey I’d had they relented and he’s here now. NOTHING in my life goes smoothly!
How lovely for you both! Here’s wishing you many happy years together.
Thank you. Unfortunately, he’s nearly 12 (birthday in October), so it may not be too many years, but he’s here and I am no longer dogless. Better an old dog that I could actually have than younger ones that never came my way.
Good news, I am so pleased for you, I hope you both make each other happy.
Thanks, vvof.
So pleased and so relieved, Con. All the best to the three of you.
Great result at last. Hopefully life can improve for you.
Excellent news, Conway. Congratulations!
Thank you, Elsie.
mng, well done for your perseverence and can now enjoy and reap the rewards for all the effort
Thanks, AWK. He seems more settled today (after all, he’d only been with us 24 hours at 17.30). I suspect we shall start to see him pushing the boundaries soon.
mng, well done for your perseverence and can now enjoy and reap the rewards for all the effort
So pleased you got to take Oscar doggo home with you – he looks a real character. I hope you have all had a good first day together, not to mention a peaceful first night. Do let us know how you get on, would love to hear about your adventures.
The first night was peaceful (quite a change after Charlie’s nightly blundering!). I have a four-poster bed, which is high, so he wasn’t able to jump up, thankfully (I don’t sleep in his bed, he doesn’t sleep in mine!), but he lay down on the long stool I use as a step and spent most of the night there. As there isn’t much left sticking out from under the bed, it must have been a bit restricted – when I woke up, he was lying on the floor. He didn’t come down with me to go out and I didn’t want to force it, but when I came out of the loo, there was a minor flood in the hall. I hope that tomorrow he’ll come down and go out. He’s drinking a lot less today – less stressed, hopefully, and it hasn’t been as hot – so less to pee. I have been taking him out at regular intervals so he can have a wee (and he does and gets praised for it). I took him for a walk and he was very good; we met the two Labradoodles and he was friendly with them. Next doors’ dogs (all 4 of them, 2 each side) set up a cacophony of barking while we were in the garden, but he lost interest after a few vocal exchanges (they carried on barking). He was chilled out lying beside me as I read a book on the lounger, but still sits up on the qui vive at any noises – hopefully, that will abate as he settles. Unfortunately, I didn’t have my camera handy. I must take it with me. I left him with MOH for 2.5 hours this evening while I attended the PC meeting – it would only have been 2 hrs if I’d still been in charge! – and things were fine. He seems to be bonding with me because when I left him in MOH’s charge, I could hear him barking as I departed. I have arranged for my dog-sitter to come when we go to the medication review so he won’t be left on his own. He’s stretched out now, fast asleep and starting to snore quietly. Fortunately, my dental appointment has been cancelled for tomorrow and re-scheduled for August. That will give us plenty of time for him to really settle in.
It sounds like a good day! And at least you had a good night so that’s a great start. When Poppie was a puppy I used to take her out every hour during the day into the garden to tiddle, she soon got the hang of it (I always said the word as she tiddled and soon she was performing to command.) I thought it would take ages. The wee-ing in house could be possibly Oscar marking it as his territory, especially the flood in the hall which is a boundary area. On our travels when staying in hotels we learned to get Poppie over the threshhold quickly as she would stop half in and half out for her early morning first wee of the day. And on one occasion it really was a flood as another dog was coming down the stairs. As they were very precisely deposited we reached the conclusion that she was marking the entrance threshhold as her territory. Perhaps Oscar can smell Charlie’s scent around your place and he is making it his own. There is nothing like a gently snoozing dog to complete the day. Have a good day tomorrow.
Thank you. I think the first few were territory marking, but the flood in the hall was probably getting rid of the overnight liquid. Every time he pees in the garden I tell him he’s a good boy – “good wee, Oscar!”. Hopefully, he’ll get the message. I used to tell Charlie, “go out and go wee, we’re going to bed” and he did.

Lilibet Diana? The cynic is strong within me…
Did they ask the Queen first? Royal family may have been caught cold by Harry and Meghan’s decision to call their baby daughter Lilibet, the monarch’s childhood nickname, as California couple announce they taking parental leave
Duchess of Sussex has given birth to a daughter, who is named Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor
Harry and Meghan’s baby girl was born on Friday, June 4 at 11:40am at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital
The baby has been named Lilibet after the family nickname for the Queen, the baby’s great-grandmother
Middle name chosen to honour her beloved late grandmother, Diana, the Princess of Wales, the couple said
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9657501/Meghan-gives-birth-baby-girl.html?ito=push-notification&ci=220135&si=26738248&ai=9657501
It is very hard not to be cynical about the choice of name. If I were HM I would hate the thought of Meme’s offspring called what is a private family nickname – especially as there is little doubt that the poor child will be used as a pawn in the Royal Family contretemps.
Hi HL
The vindictive couple have used Archie as a weapon , that woman has been cruel to her father , and is using her mother as a servant , I wish they would just shut up, and what on earth do they mean by the expression ” taking parental leave”
Maybe they’ll be silent for a week or two.
How crass.
You couldn’t name a racehorse after a person without that person’s permission. The same should be true for offspring.
What do you mean taking parental leave? They don have a job do they?
Please, please, does that mean they won’t be CONSTANTLY in the meejah? Please!

“You feel as though you are in Pakistan” Muslim author claims multiculturalism has gone wrong
6 June 2021 Share
A Muslim author and former advisor to successive Labour governments has unearthed the extent to which multiculturalism in Britain has failed in a new study to be released next week.
Ed Husain, an ex-advisor to Tony Blair has penned his experience of visiting a number of mosques across Britain in his book Among The Mosques: A Journey Across Muslim Britain, in which he expresses concerns that some areas of the UK such as Bolton, Blackburn and Bradford are like a “different universe” compared to the rest of the country.
In a comprehensive exploration of the mosques and surrounding areas, including interviews with the local Muslim community, taxi drivers, councillors and white Brits, Mr Husain reports that the hardline, fundamentalist interpretation of Islam is on the rise in British mosques and Muslim communities are separating themselves from the rest of British society, detached from British values and culture.
White Brits spoke about “no-go areas” in parts of UK cities, and insisted that councils would threaten Brits with eviction for flying the English flag being as they regard it as “racist”. Husain himself said: “Walk around parts of Walthamstow or Tower Hamlets, the physical walls may not be there but you feel as though you are in parts of Pakistan, India or Bangladesh.”
“Multiculturalism was a noble aim that has gone wrong,” Husain explained.
The author described visiting what he referred to as ordinary-looking shops in Muslim areas, only to find literature denouncing gender equality, listing several restrictions for women including where they are allowed to pray and how much of themselves they can show in public once they hit puberty.
Upon his visit to Dewsbury, a cleric told Husain that “there can be no discussion of there being women in the mosque”, and Husain describes arriving in the town as “though he is in a different country and century”.
In Birmingham, Husain was told by two recent immigrants from Saudi Arabia that they refused to “change their religion to suit Britain” with one adding: “I have no government. We are waiting for our government of the sharia to return again, headed by a caliph.”
The author himself had flirted with fundamental Islam as a teenager. He admitted being attracted to the ultra-orthodox version of Islam that he was introduced to at college in Tower Hamlets and consequently at the local mosque, despite warnings from his parents. He confessed to rebelling against his parents and travelling Britain, deepening his connections with Islamic extremists before coming to his senses.
He subsequently co-founded the counter-extremism think tank Quilliam as well advising on various counter-terrorism boards and being appointed to groups such as the Council on Foreign Relations in New York and the Freedom of Religion or Belief Advisory Group of the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
Husain, now a professor at Georgetown University will soon depart for the United States but insists Britain must address the segregation of communities and demise of multiculturalism head on.
“We have got to get this thing right,” he warns. “We can’t keep turning away from it.” https://foxhole.news/2021/06/06/you-feel-as-though-you-are-in-pakistan-muslim-author-claims-multiculturalism-has-gone-wrong/

Goodnight, all.
Hope all well with New Lodger.
So far, so good, thank you, Bill. A few teething/settling in problems as is to be expected. He has only been with us just over 24 hours. I left him with MOH this evening to go to a meeting and all seems to have been well.
Paws crossed. G & P send good wishes.
Thank you, Bill. Best wishes to them, too. Oscar saw a cat cross the road this morning when he was on his walk and ignored it. He was supposed to have a high prey drive. Maybe his eyesight is going!
Lilibet Diana
FFS. Can’t they get anything right?
Ah, Stormy, but that’s just what they plan to christen her. Her real name, they claim, is to be Lili. A bit of a tradition, rather like christening Diana’s second child
HarryHenry but insisting that they want him to be called Harry.I thought his full name was Henry?
You’re right, Ndovu. Either spellchecker “corrected” my post or I was extra tired last night when I posted.
Probably the smellchocker – I haven’t got it on my laptop but it’s very annoying if I use my phone.

Will have a look later thanks, golf morning ahead.
I posted a bitchute link on a facebook group the other day, Dr Vernon, needless to say I was kicked off the group before you can say Coleman
mng bob, priority is enjoy the round. No surprise re fb group
It was supposed to be a GB News supporters group, some decent comments on there, but there were some very nasty moderators running the show, which always seems to be the case on FB
I’m not now expecting much from the GB News Channel.
agree with your final sentence, another red herring. fb wants to be the world’s conditioning moderator, they won’t have much left to moderate when people drop it, aside the youth, for now
Since they “upgraded” their user interface, Facebook has become horrible to use. I am sick of the relentless waiting for adware and tracking scripts to download, the laggy scrolling, the shuffling of information, the dripfeeding and the filtering for recommended items, where it requires a labyrinth of clickiing to attempt to get to what I want to see. And always these corporate lawyer-driven disabling popups about cookie management and forced upgrades to compliant browsers.
mng jeremy, agree, once they changed the user interface, have never used it since
I haven’t been able to use Facebook on my laptop since that upgrade – it took so long to load anything that everything else froze. I have a quick look on my phone and that’s it these days. I’m in far too many groups to keep up with them all, so only visit a few these days.
Have people always been so intolerant of different views, or is it a modern thing?
