How Russia turned immigrants into weapons. 9 March 2025.
Russia uses migration like “a tap”, which it can turn on and off to influence European leaders, experts have said.
Vladimir Putin is accused of using migration as part of his “hybrid warfare” against the West, including as leverage in political support for Ukraine.
This is a new propaganda line. Everything is Putin’s fault , Even mass immigration. There are about three or four stories in the Telegraph. All look as if they were dreamt up by a schoolboy.

I get the impression that our msm invent something else nasty about Vlad every time he appears to have something sensible to say.
Vlad Poot ate my hamster.
The bbc set him up.
Hasn't our own government used immigration as a weapon against the British people?
Morning Ndovu. They are so desperate that they are oblivious to the meaning of their own words. If it really is a Putin Plot then they should be striving to prevent it. They are tangled in their own lies.
They think people are too stupid to notice.
Who lets them in, nay, encourages them to travel? That sure isn't Russia.
Who gives them everything when the RNLI brings them in?
Oh I see!
it's all Putin's fault that the migrants are coming, and it's nothing to do with the actions of successive British governments.
Well, I'm glad we cleared that one up!
Good morning, chums. And thanks, Geoff, for Sunday's new NoTTLe site.

Good morning all.
Another bright, sunny mild day with a tad over 3°C on the thermometer.
Before the sun crept round the corner of the house to shine directly on the thermometer, the mid-day temperature was up to 17½°C!
Saddened to see that Geoff has serious problems with his sight. I do hope things improve for him.
Sorry to hear that. Hope he gets better soon.
An unfortunate spat.. stick with Reform. It's all you've got.
Until something else turns up.. which probably never will.
Politics is a dirty business.

It's a solid reply.
Mrs Lowe has already implied she doesn't want Rupert to be PM, nor go up north on a wet cold Tuesday drumming up support.
Farage does.

May one ask,
Why did you do it ? aid & abet over four decades this anti British lab/lib/con mass uncontrolled /government controlled / pedophile umbrella coalition party, was it REALLY the best of the worst that was the reason.

Never forget that making Britain into a broke, repressive dystopia was a deliberate choice

Lawyers under threat
SIR – The number of lawyers who have been harassed, threatened and killed because of their work around the world should shake us to our core. Not just because lawyers are at risk but also because interfering with their professional duties means undermining access to justice for every single one of us.
What is particularly distressing is the lack of accountability for these acts.
The 2024 International Fair Trial Day conference focused on the Philippines. There have been at least 271 incidents of work-related attacks on Filipino lawyers and judges in the last 16 years, including 90 killings.
The 2025 International Fair Trial Day conference will focus on Tunisia – but cannot be held in Tunis due to risks for hosts and participants.
The declining independence of the judiciary; a lack of protection of lawyers, journalists and human rights defenders; torture and ill-treatment of detainees and limited access to justice in the context of violations of migrants’ rights are some of the grave concerns people face in Tunisia.
The Law Society is encouraging the Government and public to take note of what is happening beyond our borders.
Richard Atkinson
President, Law Society of England and Wales
London WC2
Can't imagine why…
We could do with a Fair Trial Day in the UK.
Perhaps Richard might like to look at Britain rather than the Philippines etc and ponder the lack of accountability that judges and lawyers have here – ridiculous sentences, woke decisions, two tier law, lawfare etc!
They all seem left bent anyway.
Let's start at the top and work (woke) down.
Perhaps Richard might like to look at Britain rather than the Philippines etc and ponder the lack of accountability that judges and lawyers have here – ridiculous sentences, woke decisions, two tier law, lawfare etc!
Irony Alert.
Richard dear.. tit-for-tat assassinations occur in places like Mogadishu which have a societal breakdown characterised by 14 configurations (according to Prof Betz).
btw, your lot are responsible for 5 out of 14 in your own country lining up UK for a societal breakdown.
here they are:
1/ failure to secure borders. TICK..
2/ failure to protect children. TICK..
5/ 2 tier justice system. TICK..
7/ creation of martyrs.
13/ The ongoing industrial rape gang revelations undermines govt legitimacy. TICK..

Morning all 🙂😊
Another sunny start. Lovely weather, but change on the way.
Why and how is one self obsessed DH being allowed to dictate terms and conditions to the millions of people Iving and working in this country. Or is it part of the NWO and our pathetic political idiots directive in the ongoing punishment of the people who don't even like them.

Never forget that making Britain into a broke, repressive dystopia was a deliberate choice. 9 march 2025.
Five days later, Boris took to the airwaves to tell people “to stop non-essential contact and travel”. A week after that, we were in lockdown (a term borrowed from prison, which I held out against using for as long as I could). What changed? Well, on March 16, Neil Ferguson and the team at Imperial College published an apocalyptic report based on modelling that estimated that if no measures were put in place deaths over the following two years could reach more than half a million.
Why was Ferguson taken seriously? A quick Google search would have revealed that he had a history of making ludicrously alarmist claims, including over BSE and swine flu. His study, far from being a cutting-edge simulation, was a rehash of a model he had published in 2006 using rough and ready estimates (home quarantine would mean a 75 per cent reduction in contacts with a 50 per cent compliance rate, social distancing would mean a 75 per cent reduction in outside contacts, offset by a 25 per cent increase in at-home contacts, and so on).
Lol. I can remember writing several rather long posts about Ferguson and that he was/is almost certainly a con man who even fiddled his PhD. They all clung to his words as if they were Holy Writ.

Alison Pearson on the Convid Enquiry
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/03/08/british-officialdom-remains-blind-to-the-covid-catastrophe/
On the Covid Day of Reflection tomorrow, each of us will have our different thoughts and memories. A good one, maybe, would be to remember that, on June 12 2020, the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) (Amendment) (No 4) Regulations 2020 were laid by the secretary of state for health in Parliament without scrutiny. This executive fiat allowed bookmakers’ shops to open their doors, but kept children’s playgrounds closed, swathed with tape like a crime scene with notices threatening dire consequences if anyone had an illicit go on the swings. So small, dingy, poorly ventilated shops, often frequented by wheezing, elderly men, could open to allow the gambling industry to take punters’ money; but little children at zero risk from the virus still weren’t allowed to run around and enjoy a bit of entirely safe fun out of doors.
Follow the science – seriously? How did we let it happen?
In the same way that following the climate science is crippling us.
Morning Rik. Well I haven't had any jabs.
I dodged a bullet by having two AZ ones, against my better judgement but I had a trip to Kenya booked.

Who has been steadfastly reliably consistent over the years.. see his forecasts on BSE in the 80's.
An extremely dangerous political animal that relishes being at the centre of policy making and seeing his name in the media.
And the stupid politicians lap it up.
Ferguson served the political agenda, not the reverse. His model was obvious nonsense. If a sample of 100 people finds 3 cases of a particular condition, it doesn’t follow that a sample of 1000 would find 30 cases. And Ferguson’s mathematical model really does appear to’ve been that simplistic.
It was all supporting the plans for repressing Britain – cause fear, extend the remit of authorities, sneak in the laws that initially seem reasonable yet result in reduction of freedom permanently…
Either that or it showed the dearth of intellect and sense in modern politicians. We need a much better selection process. BJ should never have been allowed near the levers of ultimate power. Gove did warn us.
I don’t know why, but politicians sem to be completely distanced from knowledge & reasoning, and distanced from the sense to ask someone who knows aomething about it WTF??
Oh and Dickie.. I'd be more worried about the well being of:
Judge Anna-Rose Landes, Lord Hermer, Hugo Norton-Taylor.. there are a ton more Activists in your precious Law Society.

Ukraine’s desperate plight shames our wasteful state. 9 March 2025.

After the yelping delight at the fall of Assad in Syria its all gone rather quiet hasn't it??
Years of demonisation, western support for the very worst of the moslem maniacs and they finally got their way
Now Christians,Druse and Alawites reap the whirlwind the massacres have begun
I'm not going to post any of the videos I've seen they turn my stomach just remember we funded these atrocities with 50 million of our money
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/b03c4ce9be3abb4c6f2778261a147affeeb2157165f5de97f1f254e1c9c2c14d.jpg
Wher's the much vaunted "Syrian Observatory of Human Rights" when you really need it
Thank you for posting this Ric. I was just about to post about the same thing. When Jolani came to power I warned on here that we could look forward to the massacre of Christians and Druze. That the defeat of Assad was not a new dawn but the start of an even darker night for Syria. I have just finished watching people being shot and bludgeoned to death. Women and Children fleeing to the Russian airbase for protection. Piles of bodies in homes, families massacred. Christians and Druze have begged the Israelis for protection which, in the South of Syria, they have given. But that does not protect the Alawites on the coast who being the same sect as Assad, are a special target. So we now have real Islam on full display. And, you want to bet. Our governments will do nothing because they are impotent, empty vessels that make a loud noise but do nothing. We have to trust in the Israelis and, hopefully, America to stop the murderous Sunni's. Jolani revealed his spots, the Isis liar is now showing his true face and hundreds of thousands could die.
It's no surprise, but still deeply depressing when the media turns its back on terrible things because they don't suit the agenda.
My elder son had a look at it at the time and said the coding was rubbish.
Good Morning Folks
Another bright sunny start here
Ed Miliband’s rush to net zero is killing British industry just when we need it most
That was always the plan, wasn't it?
Miliband is the offspring of two refugees who gained sanctuary here. His parents were Marxist fanatics. Some of his mother's family were murdered in the Holocaust. It makes me spitting mad that we gave sanctuary only for their son to become a traitor and supreme obstacle to the prosperity of our country. The man is completely insane; pushed his brother out of the way for personal advancement, is fanatical about green issues and is a key supporter of a party which promotes a culture which hates him and fellow Jews. Only someone lacking complete sense could square those circles.
Ahem

Mad Ed may be mad but he is not as stupid as we think. He is a communist and he knows that all communist states have emerged out of ruined economies. He is well on track to get what he wants.
Thank you Rik. Who could have guessed. I've seen some reports, truth ever the first casualty.
I’m the victim of a witch hunt – and I’m innocent. 9 March 2025.
Let me be abundantly clear on one thing to begin – there is no credible evidence against me. None has been provided.
I’m tempted to believe you Rupert. It has the stink of a stitch-up. When the old Farage UKIP was on its last legs it had a couple of Mi5 operatives at the top. It looks like they have one, or maybe two, in on the Ground Floor here.

It does seem a crazy way to get rid of someone though, why would they do that?
Because he is speaking out on issues that Nigel won't go near. Showing that Nigel is just another stooge.
I have been following his FB posts, he does appear to be going all out.
I'm not sure that any of the five Reform MPs, four now have the gift of the gap that a leader needs or is fast enough on their feet in debate.
Is it just on account of his money that Muhammad Ziauddin Yusuf was appointed by Nigel Farage to be the Reform Party's chairman or were there other reasons?
Could his agenda have been to get rid of Rupert Lowe because of his tough views on illegal immigration?
…and being loud and outspoken on the muzzie threat whereas Nige has been the opposite.
More likely to be the money, I would have thought.
Yes, good questions that need answering.
Around 2,000 young men a week appear to be arriving on our shores, remarkably similar to the amount of young men dying in the Ukraine war every week.
Neither figure appears to be being taken very seriously by our mainstream media and government.
It's even being encouraged in some quarters
Only Reform seem prepared to be taking it seriously and want it stopped.

Morning Maggie
Always interesting to read your published statistics but never deciphered the meaning of the final column which is zero every day
Is it 'Small boats successfully sunk'?
Column headings would help in the understanding…
Quite – took the words out of my fingers, Paul.
I'm fairly sure it's date, numbers arriving, number of little boats picked up/rescued, number of deaths.
I agree. I reckon that's the most likely explanation.

Inside the battle engulfing Reform
Dispute between leader Nigel Farage and little-known MP Rupert Lowe reveals true scale of division within party

"I'm the King of the Castle
Get down you dirty rascal."
"…. little known MP Rupert Lowe " ? ? ?
Trouble is that Rupert Lowe, the dirty rascal, had very quickly become one of the best known and most respected members not only of the Reform Party but also in The House of Commons and Nigel Farage has the reputation for not tolerating anyone who disagrees with, or even questions, his diktats.
Poor Nigel – standing impotently on the top of a pile of sand which is crumbling beneath his feet.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HH47F4Qu20
Maybe so. But I see one orchid, many ferns and a philodendron growing on the tree and they are all healthy.
Nigel Farage's credibility has been exploded. He reminds me of Mr Bunbury in "The Importance of Being Earnest".
BTL under the DT article:
nicholas crocker
“As soon as Rupert’s speech got more applause than Nigel’s at conference, that was the end of him.”
That sums up this situation.
Poor Nigel – standing impotently on the top of a pile of sand which is crumbling beneath his feet.
Similar to Extreme Leftie Corby's split with Radical Commie-woo-woo New Labour led by Sir Keir of Southport.
Take note: One of them holds power on all the levers. The other is a moaner on the fringes.
Most MPs have a very low recognition factor amongst the general public. Other than Farage, Reform MPs will be known by name or face to fewer than 1 in 20 of British adults.

In this insane day and age, when a kid can say he is a cat and be allowed to just sit in the sun, did he expect?
The mania is endless. Common sense and rationality simply don't exist.
Scandalous. How many muzzies have they imprisoned for not using they/them? Or raping schoolgirls?
Been reading some of the comments on Allison's DT article of yesterday about reflection on covid – we are not the only sceptics.
More important is those people who fervently wanted to socially ruin those who were not vaccinated. The sniping, the horrified looks, the demands of ostracism. That's what cannot be allowed to be forgotten.
It told us much about how dangerous, how malevolent, how easily led and unthinking more than half the population are.
All my life, whenever the subject of 1930's Germany arose, the British have smirked and proclaimed "Of course, that could never happen here".
Given the weaselly subservience that any jobsworth could command, with the enthusiastic collaboration of most of the British population, that boast is no longer credible.
Winston (Mr Churchill, not Conners' dog) always called the British people "the Sheeple" – he was referring to the majority of Brits, not every single one of us.
That was what horrified me about the covid business.

Two grant applications. One was for research into neurological computer interfaces for robotic limbs for amputees.
The other 'the effects of climate change on a rock on some island in the carribean.
The first got £3600. The latter over half a million. Somewhere, a couple of unemployable 20 somethings are troughing away on a carribean island, swimming, snorkling, diving, sailing on tax payers money.
At the other a small team are scraping together kit to use GPUs – graphics cards – for brainwave analysis to create a custom chip that one of them could use to walk again.
I know this as we gave them a whole pile of kit for free. Yes, it was second generation but hey. Too many of my friends have lost limbs due to sodding Left wing war against ragheads.

Morning all. Sunday a day of peace. But my thoughts are with the Christians, Druze and others being massacred in Syria as I type. I have written below to Rics post but I thought I would put up this video. It isn't the dreadful stuff you can see on X but it is informative.
My thoughts now, are to King Charles who insulted Christianity by holding an Islamic ritual in Windsor castle, ignoring the fact that as head of the Church, he didn't bother with the beginning of the most important Christian feast of the year, he failed in his duty. In the light of what is happening in Syria I can't help but be disgusted with his behaviour. Of course when he goes to Saudi or some place Islamic, he stays and lives with the cultivated elite so has rose glasses on with regard to Islam. The glasses I saw through in Libya where not rosy in the slightest. watching people on the beach fixing fishing nets without a hand because it had been chopped off or watching young girls screaming their heads off because they were being dragged off to forcibly marry some lecher or the general filth of the place. I am, at the moment, thoroughly disgusted. We have a useless elite. But what are they elite about, hot air and incompetence?

What would be his excuse for preventing legislation? It is not a religious duty. It is just the custom of ignorant people who don't understand genetics.
Ignorance breeds more votes.
Of course he would. He's desperate for the muslim vote.
We passed severely deformed children/young adults on a walk the other day (Soton is infested with the pollution) and these poor kids are drooling pin headed vegetables. They're in wheel chairs or otherwise physically deformed. Literally drooling, eyes rolling uncontrollably. It's an abomination.
Junior asked what was wrong with them and the Warqueen told him. His response (because he's not an evil Right wing white racist bigot – yet, the hard Left will label him so) was how horrible it was for the kids and why didn't the adults stop doing it.
What do you say to that?
Shouldn't you say CE (Common Era) rather than AD (Anno Domini)? We must not allow the Christian God still to feature in our language?
Mind you we could use the birth of Mohammed (reputedly in 570) as the year from which our dates are calculated.
I think that sort of nonsense is an insult and religiously discriminatory against Christians. After all it was a system commissioned by a Pope and invented by monks for a Christian civilization. I see no reason at all why it should be interfered with other than bigotry.
I agree.
The days of the week and half the months of the year are named after gods of various provenance. Why pick on the god of the Christians? (I know, silly question.)

Rory Stewart is a very strange man. Even if I knew nothing of his politics, I'd find him mildly repellent purely on the basis of appearance and voice. I find it quite hard to believe that this very slight and feline person ever served with the Black Watch. There's nothing remotely soldierly about him. He exudes several characteristics, but toughness is not one of them.
Recent politics has been full of similarly odious little men with an obsession for power.
Oliver Letwin, Colin Moynihan, John Bercow (and another runt whose name currently evades me) are all in the same bag.
Cressida Dickhead?
I am sure you know that Cressida's father, Marcus, was the Professor of Philosophy and the Dean of Students at UEA in the 1960s.
Any list of completely odious politicians must include Chris Bryant.
Is he a short-arse?
"During his gap year in 1991, he served a short service limited commission in the Black Watch for five months as second lieutenant on probation"
No more a soldier than I am.
Its not what you know Bill…..
Lest we forget, King Chuck (when still PoW) hired Stewart R (then at Balliol) as a 'Private Tutor' for the Princes William & Harry one summer. Very strange men.
It is the sort of treacherous character that one expects from the Left wing mind. Anything to sell the country out.

Good morning all.
It’s our 57th wedding anniversary today and I am the happiest man ever and would change nothing of my life. The most wonderful wife a man could ever hope for.
We have two wonderful children, daughter 56 tomorrow and son 53 in June, both happily married. 3 grandchildren all in their 20s who are a credit to their parents and the human race.
We’ve both been ill the last 10 but have had the support of each the and our family.
What a wonderful life.
Congratulations, Alf! That's quite a number, 57! And congratulations to your lovely, patient Wife! You are truly blessed by God to have found such a companion.
Once I've driven home, I'll raise a glass to the both of you.
… and two more, for the both of you, as you posted no alcohol allowed!
Well done Alf.
Have a lovely anniversary, vw and Alf.🍾👍🏻😊
Very well done – you have found the key to a happy and fulfilled life.

Due to the medication we’re on for our chest infections no alcohol allowed as we were informed it WILL make you sick.
Bugger!
I don't think they are up to it…
That's why i said i would drink it !
Hope you both improve soon.
Remember when the course of pills finishes it will still be in your system so no rushing to the Bar !
Happy Anniversary J&M
Make up for it when you are well
Many congratulations to you both, well done indeed.
Hearty congratulations.
Happy anniversary Alf. I envy your good fortune. May you have many, many more happy years and celebrations together.

Many, many congratulations to you and your lovely wife! I hope you have a fantastic day surrounded by family and love. Sending hugs and kisses to you both, and hope you’re feeling a lot better! X
It made me so happy to read that. Thank you, and congratulations!
Many congratulations to the pair of you, Alf.

Good Morning!
Today is Covid Remembrance Day, which should be a day of anger by the people and shame for the Establishment, but instead they are still trying to cover up the damage they did with nauseating sugar-coated pusillanimous platitudes. Read Covid Day of Reflection? for both a personal and a political ‘reflection’. Please do let us know what you think.
We still have two articles we would like you to look at if you missed them; a very thorough expose of the great foreign aid fraud, Drain The Aid Swamp by Nanumaga, which links it to the woke cultural revolution being forced upon us by the alien ruling Establishment, and a second short article, Reform's Split: Let The Membership Decide , which is a draft letter to Reform’s leadership on the appalling split in the party that many had pinned their hopes on. We would very much like your input on both pieces
Energy watch 09.30: Demand: 29.28 GW. Total UK Production: 21.64 GW from: Hydrocarbons 27.1%; Wind 11.4%; Imports 26.3%; Biomass 3.9%; Nuclear 12.3%. Solar: 15.5%.
Even at very low load, we are importing almost 30% of our electric power, expensively and unnecessarily so our gas generation plants could produce the total demand and more – all in the name of the false god of net zero.

Unreliables providing 3gw of our energy needs, despite 70gw installed. Utterly useless.
However, we are looking at batteries for our solar panels. While they might not get us to zero energy use they would, at worst cut our bill by a third and on a day like today we wouldn't draw from the grid at all.
I was thinking about getting some wib, but the best place to put them would be on the roof at the front of the house, which would spoil its good looks.
I am in a conservation area. I could put some on the stable at the back of the house, but I am not sure it would be worth it.
I looked into batteries for my solar panels and came to the conclusion that at todays prices I would never recoup the cost
Regarding the spat.
Rupert Lowe & Ben Habib proved they haven't got what it takes.. though politically sound they lack the Machiavellian personality trait required to be a leader.
A true canny leader would have bided his time.. let Nigel do all the hard stuff in winning the election, then tripped him up a year into office.
I'd rather not vote for a two-faced piece of shit who did that. Totally untrustworthy.
Regardless of all the ins and outs of the situation; of all the shenanigans and all the in-fighting and bitching; the fact remains that a very promising new party in British politics has destroyed all the good work done up to now.
A party that had commanded a strong lead in the polls, and was accumulating new members in the hundreds daily, has now thrown it all away by nothing other than piss-poor leadership. The 'Reform Party' (reforming what?) is now a worldwide laughing stock.
Exactly. All that work and they're revealed as just another bickering, infighting, backstabbing bunch of chancers.
Nothing to vote for, nothing to talk about, nothing to campaign on. No policies, no plans. Lots of rhetoric and bluster but sound and fury, signifying nothing.
Farage has a death wish. He is terrified of success which is why he must destroy it.
Farage is a bolter , I have always said that .. and that includes people like Cameron , Starmer and Blair and anyone else you can remember or dare to ?
On the day before the result of the Brexit referendum was announced, Cameron boasted, "I am no quitter!"
Very soon afterwards he resigned as PM.
The following day I had a letter published in the DT's letters page. It read, "David Cameron: quitter. Please discuss."
Farage has a death wish. He is terrified of success which is why he must destroy it.

A good leader delegates. Farage is not a good leader because he doesn't know how to do that. He is far to egotistic. In that sense he is the worst politician, the weak link in the chain.
Remember a week is a long time in politics.
Morning Johnny – late on parade today? bright start here 10C
Just now 18C full sun.
They have proved that they are not politicians.
Surely this is to their credit given what politicians of all political parties have done to the UK over the last few decades!

We have a system for removing jobs in this country. It's called redundancy. The private sector is brutal in it's use of this. Simply sack 25% of the civil service. Heck, be sensible, kill two birds with one stone and close the department for destroying the economy. Sack Mliband. Job done.
At a stroke, two major problems solved. Then close 3 or 4 other departments and a few hundred quangos.

Okay, is Trump an ex KGB agent .. or has he done dodgy deals .. or is he playing a sophisticated game pitching Russia against China ..
Starmer could be the fool here , by placing our guys in Ukraine , and other European troops , WW3 will explode .
Trump quite simply wishes to cease US funding of the Biden proxy war in Ukraine. Trump also wishes to seek normal diplomatic relations with Russia and to address issues such as nuclear disarmament, energy prices and the Middle East.
Starmer is a globalist puppet and his statements about funding loans to Ukraine by stealing the interest from seized Russian assets must send shock waves throughout the financial investment sectors.
From the perspective of the EU which is an unelected body with no Treasury the immediate problem they have is by what means can they raise funds to stay in business. They have exhausted the flagging Green Energy scam and the Covid scam which enabled them to print vast sums via the central banks.
The EU is a busted flush and is resorting to the idea of issuing war bonds which in effect means direct taxation of every EU citizen. The idea is not to fight the Russians on behalf of Ukraine but to keep the war going at all costs in order to create a giant slush fund, without which the EU is bankrupt.
Edit: Russia has repeatedly warned that EU or British troops setting foot in Ukraine will be military combatants and swiftly eliminated.

There was an Eagles concert on the telly last night.
Talking of which a friend of mine was hitch-hiking in the USA when he was a medical student and he was taken to this campsite full of incredibly happy young people. He found that he was beginning to feel strangely happy himself and wondered why this was so. He stopped eating the food he was given and found that his state of euphoria disappeared. He concluded that the 'management' must have been lacing all food and drink with cannabis. He determined he must leave but this was not easy to do but he managed to hide himself in a delivery van that had dropped supplies to the camp and got out that way.
When he resumed his hitchhiking one of the drivers who picked him up told him that he had been in a Moonies' camp.

Don't the public understand that one should never ever enter a field where there are cattle .. public right of way or not ..
People think they can wander where they want.. yep they assume they have rights !

Those poor farmers must be quite distressed . The roaming public are a bloody nuisance .

An unfortunate death but the responsibility doesn't just lie with the farmers.

There is one remaining footpath here (the rest have been built on). There were cows in the field. I turned round and went back.

Yes; I cycled all the time in Germany. Living by the Rhine gave me some splendid routes.

I cycled for years in Cambridge, cycling country. We have inverse snobbery here – the wealthy academics cycle and live in the city; the peasants (like me) have to live in the surrounding villages and need a car to travel into the city. If I remember correctly York is a cycling town, too.
I cycled to school for years – up a very steep hill.

And rightly so!
I'm buying a harness and lead for him, next week, so that I may introduce him into the garden slowly so he can get his bearings before being permitted outside — eventually — unfettered.
Good luck with that. He may object…..(a voice of experience says…)
Oh, he will object. He will also discover that attempting to shred my welding gauntlets will be an inadvisable and utterly pointless waste of his time.

Same here. Mine was over 30 years ago and was never repaired – was yours? Footballer Paul Gascoigne did his about the same time and had what was then a new surgical procedure to repair his. Not an option for me. Hopefully surgical procedures have improved since then and Dupont will recover.
The surgeon decided it was not possible to repair.
To be fair I had had a series of knee injuries over the years. I probably should not have carried on when I left school, but I enjoyed the game and the social side too much for my own good.

If this weeding out of strong willed and outspoken members is to be the status quo then Reform will have difficulty attracting the type of people that will make them different from the bland, do as the whips demand cos they've got the files, parties, that have destroyed this Country.
I was hoping that the proverb, “plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose” was not going to be applicable to Reform. They have some work to do to rebuild the electorate's belief in Reform's stated mission i.e. as their name implies, change politics, and for the better.
Since they have had a Muslim chairman they say nothing about legal or illegal immigration, let alone announce policies to deal with it.
If he did, they'd tell him to stop the twitter stuff pronto.
Lawyers are to be instructed.
I suspect that Bill's clients ignore his advice at their peril though.
Good Afternoon.
Lovely walk at Frinton.
Slight – very slightly – cold breeze but that went and the walk was gorgeous.
As usual, we went as far as the "dog sausage stall' (nearly Walton) and then pootled back.

Some will. The tofu lovers with no brains.
I'm not fussed either way. I'll not seek it out; I'll not avoid it. As for M&S, my nearest store is not conveniently located. That matters more to me than whether or not it stocks Bovaer milk.

How to earn more in the BBC’s top ranks: ‘Don’t be straight, white or male’
Senior managers at the national broadcaster earn more if they are from LGBT or ethnic minority backgrounds

Who's surprised by this?
Certainly not me – I am surprised that they have any straight, white males remaining though! I think the headline should read – "How to be paid more … " as most BBC managers don't actually earn anything like the salary they are paid!
It is a deathwish either way. The BBC promote Islam and LGBT at the same time. At least one militant group will firebomb their offices.

I'm not sure if it was factual, but it looked real. I've just seen on FB hundreds of slammers on their knees in downing Street. Who is allowing all this anti British BS to take place?
Where are the so called authorities and the army. How long will it be before the kick our front doors in and tate over our homes and rob us all ?

Dame Julie Kenny, redoubtable South Yorkshire businesswoman who saved crumbling Wentworth Woodhouse
Of her plan to repurpose the nearly derelict Georgian house she said: ‘My view is that nothing is impossible with time, energy, and belief’
(Do try to read this obit about this remarkable woman ) https://www.telegraph.co.uk/obituaries/2025/03/07/dame-julie-kenny-wentworth-woodhouse-yorkshire-business/
Dame Julie Kenny, who has died aged 67, was a formidable South Yorkshire businesswoman and community leader who spearheaded the rescue of Wentworth Woodhouse, the Georgian mansion that was Britain’s largest private home until its decline towards dereliction.

What an amazing woman. I wish we had a battalion of others – of both sexes – just like her running our civil and local governments and the public services. How different our country would be then. You were taken too soon, Dame Julie, but you more than earned your share of peace and rest.

The open cast mining which ruined it’s beautiful gardens were the malicious vindictive work of Manny Shinwell who, against the advice of the coal
Board who knew the underlying coal was useless, had it dug up anyway with no respect for the men who had grown the gardens. The book Black Diamonds is a great history of Wentworth House and apparently the BBC were going to serialise it. They haven’t. I wonder why?

Emanuel Shinwell portrayed himself typically as an avuncular, amusing and caring man, which indeed he could be. But often he epitomised and practised class hatred and envy to his own discredit and disservice towards others.

RIP and thank you for your help in preserving this extraordinary house.
Not only is it the biggest private house in the country it was build literally behind the still standing and impressive original Jacobean house.
The Labour Party disgracefully caused its downfall when in power in 1946 opening a coal mine 250 ft from the house as it was owned by the founding Conservative party PM.

Shinwell was mocked by a group of private coal-owners who noted his post as Minister For Fuel and Power, abbreviated the name of his post to Min-Fu-Po and depicted him as an all-knowing Chinese mandarin – complete with his contradictory statements. Was Wentworth Woodhouse subject to death duties – the number of fine and useful properties that were destroyed by this measure was little short of obscene.
Wentworth, in South Yorkshire, is a bit of an anomaly. It is a gorgeous, leafy upper-crust area with beautiful houses that sits, incongruously, in the general borough of Rotherham! The difference between the two places is tangible. William Hague was the place's MP for most of his MP-hood.
I used to visit a quite fabulous pub in Wentworth. A wonderful free-house — The George and Dragon — that sold Timothy Taylor's Landlord as well as a good range of well-kept guest real ales from around the country. I miss the place very much.
I used to deal with Magnet Kitchens who were based in Keighley/Bingley – as were Timothy Taylor's.
All the pubs around there were like a brewery tap – and the Landlord was just outstanding, albeit a bit strong for a 'quaffing' beer!
I once went into a pub on the steep hill in the centre of Haworth (Brontë country). It remains the only dedicated Timothy Taylor's pub I've ever come across. They had the full range of that hallowed brewery's ales and I discovered that their bog standard bitter was in the same league as Landlord. Utterly quaffable.
It wasnt The Fleece was it? What a fabulous pub that is/was (?) – just the very best of how a British Pub should be…….
It was a solitary visit over 40 years ago so I haven’t a clue what its name was.

He is at odds with Nigel on this subject.
Evening all. Just home from another busy day. The dogs are beginning to wonder who I am!
Net zero is a scam and a dangerous one at that.
Do they get separation anxiety? Does Winston still go back in his crate?
Winston loves his crate. This evening I let them out and when he came back in, he opened the door of his crate and went in! That isn’t the first time he’s done it, either. I think he is anxious, but when I tried to spray him with Pet Remedy he was not amused. He is desperately glad to see me when I get back. I have to take him outside and try to calm him down. He doesn’t get a fuss unless he’s got all four feet on the ground. It’s still early days; I haven’t had him four weeks yet. I am hoping that with calmness and consistency (and age) he will improve.
I don't think a hound necessarily has to be anxious to want his crate, if he has been brought up with it. It's comfort, which, let's face it, we're all rather fond of.
Your dogs are lucky to have you.
I keep telling them that! I don’t know what sort of life Winston had before I got him except that he didn’t have any continuity (four owners and he’s only two and a half!). He has certainly bonded to me. He was out in the garden when I got back and came rushing over to me, then I had to go out again to put the car away and when I closed the garage doors, who should come round the corner but Winston! Now my garden is dog-proof, I thought – even Charlie Houdini my terrierist didn’t manage to get out after I’d made it secure. I concluded that he had managed to squeeze through the narrow gap between the trellis on the gate and the trellis on the fence – I’d left a space so I could reach the latch and open the gate. I’ve had to block that off now (next door’s cats will be miffed because that’s how they get in and out) with just enough space to squeeze my hand through to operate the latch.
🤣 What a great problem to have – a dog who is intelligent and already binded to you. That’ll keep you on your toes! 🙂🙂
Beagles are very resourceful, as I’m sure Bill T can attest. The reading on Saturday was from Jeremiah, “God has a plan for you”. I wondered why He had a plan that I ended up with a hound in my old age!

Pretty, but inevitably gormless, women do nothing for me. So-called 'plain' (?) women are always more interesting, far more intelligent, and invariably 'try' harder to please.
I get your point but I still want to find women physically attractive, in whatever form ‘that’ may take – for instance I am always attracted to intelligent women (hence the Katie etc) and enjoy being in their company – even on-line!

There's a current scifi author who did a couple of novels on cephalopod civilisations. Adrian Tchaikovsky. Interesting.
His eighth symphony?
Are you sure it wasn't his 10th – the so called Squid Symphony?
Nah, he was already squids in when he wrote his fifth.
Gosh, he's prolific!
In the absence of obvious tentacles, I can't work out which ones involve cephalopods. Might you recommend one to start me off, please?
Will do, ashes, just give me a while to sort meself out.
Hi, ashes, and big books too. I must have got in at the ground floor as I read his first novel "Children of Time" followed by "Children of Ruin". There's a 3rd in the series written in 2023 which I didn't know existed. The octopuses appear in the 2nd novel but the 1st novel is very interesting too. I'm fairly sure they were recommended on the forum some years ago by either Phizzee or Rik Redux. I certainly enjoyed them.
Thank you; I can look forward to them. (Current just-for-fun book is in Argentine Spanish, and whilst I’m getting pretty fluent, I feel obligated to look up words I don’t know. Reading like this takes a while!)
I remember learning French in Geneva and reading “Un diable d’homme” about Richard Burton. Quite a few words I wasn’t sure of and I’d make a note of them but tried to read with just hopefully the gist of the word.
I certainly enjoyed Tchaikovsky’s scifi.
I read novels in a newspaper language two ways: rubbishy things where I allow myself just to read and get the gist; and more serious works where I scrutinise what I’m reading carefully. Seems to work! Self-imposed rules, of course. 🤣🤣
I’ve bought the first novel in the series and will use it as a carrot to get through the book I’m slugging through at the mo. 😎
In a *NEW* language. Sorry- autocarrot!

If reform don't stop bickering, start presenting some realistic, tested policies and start looking like a government in waiting (as Mr Lower was) they've no hope, and don't deserve one either.
There's bigger stakes than having a spat in public. Farage needs to acknowledge that.

Deport him? It's really not complicated. If they've no right to be here, get rid of them. If other countries won't let us land, don't bother. Just push them out without stopping. They're dross. They treat this country like a doss house. They're unwelcome vermin, sewage, pollution. Just pack them into a Hercules, take off and dump them like the rest of the rubbish.
He is obviously a danger to the UK. Doesn't matter whether he attempted to arrive legally or illegally, he should not be allowed to remain.
I don't understand why any of the criminal gimmigrants are permitted to stay a single hour.
I don't have a clue why they're even brought here. Tow them back to France, hole the boat, destroy the engine and makethem swim to shore. If they drown – oh well.
How did they know who he is?
That little detail has never bothered PTB before.
Inciting violence against a racial group gets some offenders jail time, this one will afforded British hospitality as he has a trump protected characteristic.
Went to Archery Practice early this morning and watched a couple of Archers shooting at a target 100 yards away. At that distance they both used scopes to see where their arrows were landing. One of my arrows missed the bluddy target at 30 yards so I had a stroll up the field and couldn't believe how many of their arrows were in the gold (size of a tea plate) . It turned out one of the Archers had at one time been placed 5th in the English Recurve Bow rankings….
PS His draw weight was 39lbs but when competing in the past he drew 52lbs…
An every day story of country folk…
This is a dreadful thing to happen to any child and their family, but I have to wonder why it's the British government's (ie the taxpayers') responsibility to cough up.

What makes me even sicker is the fact that the British government is more than happy to pick up the medical bills for thousands of illegal gimmegrants but will abandon this family.
Sounds as though they didn't have holiday insurance. Bad move!
According to the DM they had holiday insurance but it was rendered invalid. Possibly due to the child having previous medical history.
And not declaring it?
Probably had something to do with it.
In that case one does the sensible and responsible thing and chooses a holiday in this country. But sensible is what this generation of UK parents tend not to do.They will not let 'sensible' get in the way. If it all goes wrong they expect someone else to pick up the tab.
Incidentally, I am reading 'Safari Ants, Baggy Pants and Elephants' by Susie Kelly. She was brought up in Kenya and lived there until her early twenties and returned to go on safari. It is nicely written, a different perspective and I enjoyed her use of language. I thought you might be interested if you haven't come across her. She also wrote 'I wish I could say I was sorry' which is her autobiography, and several books on her life and travels in France – her descriptions of the French countryside are exquisite, especially her solo trek across France from La Rochelle to Geneva. I have enjoyed them all, they are my bed-time reading to settle my mind from the stresses of the day!
Thanks PM – I’ll look out for her books.
Fyrd On!
Isn’t that fjord
Well, chums, I spent two hours in the front garden yesterday and the same today, pulling out deep-seated weeds and even deeper roots of massive invasive bushes. I am totally exhausted and aching in every muscle in my body. So I have decided to go straight to bed, even though it is nowhere near my 11 pm bedtime. I hope to have a restful night's sleep, and see you all tomorrow morning for more aches and pains in the garden.
Rewild it.
You might even qualify for a grant.

A peaceful night to you.
Thanks, BoB. I woke up at 2.30 am, and have just completed today's Wordle. I may now have a mug of tea and listen to a bit of music; or else I may go straight back to bed.
A bit of a disappointing day.
Not much of a good night's sleep, but managed to clear a couple of builders' bucket full of brambles, ivy and general detritus and came in for a tea, suddenly felt drained, so went back to bed again for an hour.
2½h later….
Didn't do a lot more I'm afraid, despite it being an absolutely beautiful day.
It's almost as if, because all the heavy work is done, for now at least, my get up and go has buggered off and gone.
But that is me off to bed. Good night all.
Goodnight, Bob. Hope you get a better night tonight.
So do I.
And, I'm afraid, so do I hope the DT has a good night so her tossing & turning does not wake me up!
Separate beds until it's sorted?
Our separate bedrooms started about 10 years ago, bliss.
That was the secret to our 42 years of marriage!
That was the secret to our 43 years of not being married and the last 18 months of being married. We argue perpetually about almost everything.
I don't think either of the S@H lads will be too chuffed by me bunking in alongside them.
That bug you had last week has left you drained of energy. Sleep well.
I know.
Even when got up and gone, your get up and go gets up to more in a day than most people's in a week.
Hope you wake up fully charged and raring to go.
Interestingly, I have also had less energy than usual for the last couple of days. I put it down to the weather, but maybe there's an odd planetary conjunction or something going on. Stranger things have happened at sea.
Goodnight, all.
A belated Good Night, Conners – and Kadi and Winston.
Just re-watched 'Heaven knows Mr Allison'. Lovely film.
Just finished watching Neville Shute's On the beach
Now Moh and I are turning in , feeling rather fed up..
The film could be prophetic if Trump gets his way!
If Trump gets his way, there will be peace in Ukraine. Why, then, would Putin wish to press the nuclear button?
More danger from the "leaders" of the EU.
Good morning, all – Monday’s new page is here .
Thanks Geoff! ‘Morning all!
Thank you Geoff and I hope your vision is continuing to improve.
