Good morning all.
It seems the mild temperatures may be at an end. A chilly -0.6°C outside just now with yesterday's maximum at 7.4°.
At least it's stopped raining after yesterday.

The sloppiness of dress is something that strikes me when I go into town.
No-one seems to take any pleasure in dressing up for an occasion.
Most of them can hardly waddle by they're so obese.
The ladies holding up their dresses to prevent them dragging in the dust and the dirt…
Either that, William, or they were just flirting with the men by showing a little ankle to get them all aroused! Lol.
Gosh the thrill of catching glimpses of their ankles 😲😲
No one will convince me that Keira Knightley can fight. 2 January 2024.
What she’s slightly less good at – and it’s hardly her fault: it’s an impossible part – is persuading us that despite those stick-thin wrists, slender hands and frangible features she could take any amount of punishment in a brutal fist fight before finishing you off with a fruit knife. Of course she couldn’t. Nor could any woman of Knightley’s physique. It’s a trope which was ticklish, cute and quite original when La Femme Nikita came out in 1990, but 34 years on its charm has long since stalled.
This is of course about a role in movie and we all, to some extent, rein in our scepticism when we go to watch them. The downside of this, is that the belief that Men and Women are truly equal, has by virtue of Feminism and Cultural Marxism, crossed into the real world, particularly among the Political Elites, who have passed legislation enshrining it into Law. Since it is untrue it has had a negative effect on the Cultural and Political institutions of the West. In its most basic form it has led to Policewomen who are incapable of carrying out the full range of their duties and female soldiers who have to be mollycoddled by their comrades. These adjustments have seriously downgraded their physical effectiveness. What one notices about the Russia/Ukraine conflict is that both sides are old fashioned armies and that the women in them (like their Israeli counterparts) play no part in combat roles. Worse, because it is largely hidden, is the effect that it has had on the Will to Combat of the West’s Armies. The Brotherhood of Arms was quite real. It enabled them to endure beyond reason. It made the West supreme on the Battlefield. At the moment this is offset by their technical superiority but should such a trial as Ukraine come to us it would not go well. As to the rest, this society you see, and that the Cultural Elites have created is dissolving around us.

Good morning, Annie. I hope that you manage to read this. Would you be interested in some empty jars for your jam-making and lemon curd-making activities? I have a surplus which you might appreciate. Later this year I plan to make some orange marmalade (I know that you prefer grapefruit marmalade so this is not an exchange offer) but I have more than enough empty jars for my own use. Let me know, and I can bring them round at just after 9 am today – or later if you prefer.
This has to be my favourite Norman Rockwell image:-

Up to a point, Lord Copper. The cows that graze in our fields, thoughtlessly emitting methane, are very different from their ancestors, before the hand of man took control. Likewise wheat and barley, which have come a long way from the humble grasses that they once were.
If you object to this kind of thing, you're a few thousand years late.

Morning Elsie. I have never doubted it.
And we are told that no cultures are better than other ones!
If Christian culture is no better than Muslim culture then why don't we do to Muslims what Muslims do to Christians?
There are no churches in Saudi Arabia. Taking a Bible into Saudi Arabia is a criminal offence.
Would we not just be showing our equivalence if we razed every mosque in Britain to the ground and destroyed every copy of the Koran?
If not, can the apologists for Islam explain why not?
Animals don't behave in that way.
OMG WTF is happening in this country ?

I read that yesterday and wished I hadn't. It kept me awake in the night. Those monsters should have been locked up for ever for that.
Good morning ,
Horrible horrible horrible .
I do seem to remember reading a similar report about those 2 very young school boy monsters , didn't they do similar things to that little toddler .. before they murdered him ..
Base instincts of warped cruelty are I am certain , are a gene that many potential murderers are born with.
Some people believe they are born with a God type of gene , and others that don't are the really the spawn of the Devil .
More monsters than ever lurk in every corner .
Wickedness , sheer undiluted evil and wickedness is perpetuated by many, either against adults, children or animals .
Society seems to be at risk of losing its way.
2 very young school boy..
Indeed. But this was on an industrial scale.. with some subtle differences such as.. implicit instructions from your current Prime Minister to turn a blind eye & STFU.. for the sake of the social experiment.
And we are guilty of racist hate crime if we say we do not approve of the
menmonsters who do this?Without giving them an anaesthetic, castrate them with a red hot branding iron, use it again to rearrange their anal passages; then deport them.

Morning all 🙂😊
Minus 3C this Morning and very frosty.
No GP appointments ? I called into my local practice to drop off some paperwork before Christmas, the waiting room which has at least twenty seats was completely empty. As that was always entirely impossible I have often been under the impression that our GPs are carrying out private consultations elsewhere.
Im going to get intouch with mine on line (the now preferred method) very soon regarding the now 6 year wait for the operation on my left knee. It seems to me that old fobb off FOAD is being widely administered. I have tried other ways to try to get the operation done but it pretty obvious what the NHS administration are doing. And it's not what they are paid to do nor what us oldies have paid into the system for all our working lives. 50 years.
Get your MP involved.
Bright with hazy sunshine here for a change .
The waiting room was empty last time we went to our gp surgery but that's because it's appointments only and nobody likes the online system.
More likely that no GPs were working that day.
Ours are all part timers.

WHEN icicles hang by the wall,
And Dick the shepherd blows his nail,
And Tom bears logs into the hall,
And milk comes frozen home in pail,
When blood is nipp’d and ways be foul,
Then nightly sings the staring owl,
Tu-who;
Tu-whit, a merry note,
While greasy Joan doth keel the pot.
WHEN all aloud the wind doth blow,
And coughing drowns the parson’s saw,
And birds sit brooding in the snow,
And Marian’s nose looks red and raw,
When roasted crabs hiss in the bowl,
Then nightly sings the staring owl,
Tu-who;
Tu-whit, a merry note,
While greasy Joan doth keel the pot.
This song is taken from from Love’s Labour’s Lost, Act V, scene 2. Shakespeare ends his early comedy with two songs, one to Spring, the other to Winter. Here we have an early depiction of what winter would have meant to peasants in the reign of Queen Elizabeth.

Viking hordes may have been Britain’s ancestors returning home, DNA suggests
Study suggests tribes moved to Scandinavia centuries before raiders from the north attacked Lindisfarne in 793AD
When the Vikings first attacked Lindisfarne in Northumberland in 793 AD, it was to start a major upheaval that brought bloodshed, a new language and eventually the creation of England.
The Scandinavian migrants were feared warriors who had seemingly been toughened by generations of survival in the frozen north.
Yet a new DNA study shows that their ancestry may lie closer to home.
Human remains from Scandinavia dating before the 8th century raids show genetic links to Britain and central Europe suggesting there had been a large migration northwards in the centuries before the Vikings had apparently set out.
It indicates that a number of raiders, some of whom were searching for better land to farm, could have been retracing the paths of their ancestors rather than conquering completely unfamiliar territories.
Biomolecular analysis of teeth of people buried on the island of Oland, Sweden – known for its impressive Viking remains – was found to contain ancestry from Central Europe and Britain.
Likewise, researchers found a “clear shift” in genetic ancestry in 8th century Denmark in which Viking communities had genetic links to Iron Age groups much further south.
Experts estimate the shift happened around 500AD.
“We already have reliable statistical tools to compare the genetics between groups of people who are genetically very different, like hunter-gatherers and early farmers, but robust analyses of finer-scale population changes, like the migrations we reveal in this paper, have largely been obscured until now,” said Leo Speidel, the first author of the study said.
The former postdoctoral researcher at the Francis Crick Institute and University College London (UCL) and now group leader at Riken, in Japan, added: “It allows us to see what we couldn’t before, in this case migrations all across Europe originating in the north of Europe in the Iron Age, and then back into Scandinavia before the Viking Age.
Advertisement : 7 sec
“Our new method can be applied to other populations across the world and hopefully reveal more missing pieces of the puzzle.”
The team was able to tease out the migration routes using a new, more precise, method of ancient DNA analysis, called Twigstats which can pick out small differences between genetically similar groups.
They applied the new method to more than 1500 European genomes – a person’s complete set of DNA – from people who lived primarily during the first millennium AD encompassing the Iron Age, the fall of the Roman Empire, the early medieval period, and the Viking Age.
Pontus Skoglund, group leader of the Ancient Genomics Laboratory at the Crick, said: “Questions that wouldn’t have been possible to answer before are now within reach to us.”
As well as uncovering new migration routes, the technique was also able to back up accounts from the historical record.
At the beginning of the first millennium AD, the Romans wrote about coming into conflict with Germanic groups at their empire’s frontiers, and the new analysis shows that northern groups and Scandinavians were indeed moving south during this period, towards the Roman borders.
There is archaeological evidence for repeated conflicts in Scandinavia at the time, and the researchers speculate that this unrest may have played a role in driving people away from their homelands.
It has been suspected that Viking blood was in the British DNA before the hordes raided in earnest from the 8th century

The team discovered a Scandinavian buried in a Roman gladiator cemetery at York dating from the 2nd to 4th century, who may have been a victim of such conflict, and become enslaved by the Empire and forced to fight.
It also proves a long-held theory that there were already some Norsemen in Britain before the Vikings arrived.
The route had reversed by mid-Millenium with central Europeans travelling northwards before the Vikings set out again at the end of the 8th century.
From that point more Scandinavian DNA was found in the ancestry of Britons and central Europeans.
Peter Heather, professor of medieval history at King’s College London, and co-author of the study, said: “Historical sources indicate that migration played some role in the massive restructuring of the human landscape of western Eurasia in the second half of the first millennium AD, which first created the outlines of a politically and culturally recognisable Europe.
“But the nature, scale and even the trajectories of the movements have always been hotly disputed. Twigstats opens up the exciting possibility of finally resolving these crucial questions.”
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/01/01/viking-migration-british-ancestors-returning-home-dna/?WT.mc_id=e_DM485422&WT.tsrc=email&etype=Edi_FAM_New_ES&utmsource=email&utm_medium=Edi_FAM_New_ES20250102&utm_campaign=DM485422
The research was published in the journal Nature.
Give a week or so, and all the Vikings will be black.
Viking culture was not significantly different to British culture, nor were the Vikings and Ancient Brits very far apart genetically therefore it's really a non-story. By the ninth and tenth centuries, Anglo Saxon women were attracted to marrying Viking men because they had better personal hygiene than the native men and Viking wives got a better deal with regards to property rights. Aristocrats aside (high-born women had the option of becoming nuns), a woman was destined to be a wife so wots not to luv. He took a bath and gave you his purse and house keys.
Humph got it spot on when he referred to women in Northumbria referencing the Vikings as 'they should be bluddy well hung like a Norse…."

Is that "culture" as in a growth of a pathogen on agar agar in a petri dish?
I caught part of the news on bbc this morning. It was an article on education.
The focus seemed to be on very young girls most wearing islamic clothing. How can they and why are they forced to cover
their hair ?
It seems that the bbc are heavily involved in their own versions of wrecking our long established culture. For fake and superficial reasons. Or because they can.
70 years ago, women nearly always wore a headscarf because of pollution (talking Northern here), kept their hair really clean that way, no modern shampoo, only bar soap.
It was a headscarf tied under the chin though and no rules about concealing the hair. It wasn't worn to avoid arousing any nut job male.
Just to keep the cold wind off.
Or a headscarf tied into a turban if they were working (see Rosie the Riveter).
Children's capital of culture? Well I can think of many ways to describe racist gang rape of children, but "culture" wouldn't be one of them.
Wot, no hijabs?
So unfair, Sue 🤣🤣🤣🤣…one black face and doesn't she look overjoyed..
And obese.
Quite surprising the number that are. Not so much Asian types. Hmm….must be something in the genes….
Is that "culture" as in Petri dish?
Who is surrounding whom?

And one of the topics of the day is the latest Islamist outrage in New Orleans and how it is now perfectly reasonable to assume that such attacks are the work of fanatics working in the name of Islam before it is confirmed either way, and that it is reasonable to demand that the authorities take positive and not only reactive action to defend the public.
Energy watch 09.00: Demand: 37.428GW. Supply: Hydrocarbons 32.4%; Wind 28.89%; Imports 14.4%, Biomass 4.8% and Nuclear 13.5%
Solar contributed 0.6%, despite it being sunny, going to show how much of the country would have to be covered in hideous solar panels to make a significant contribution – but only when the sun shines. And the unreliability of renewable energy is emphasised by the fall in wind generated electricity from 60% yesterday to less than 30% today.

I suggested a far more sustainable way to keep 8 billion people in SUVs was hamster power. Generator wheels attached to the National Grid should do it. Hamsters do not need wind or sun to keep going, and burying a hamster is a great deal healthier than decommissioning a nuclear power plant.
Maybe someone could do the sums, but someone suggested that the entire surface of the Earth would have to be a foot deep in hamsters to make it work. Surely some mistake? Who'd keep the hamsters off the roads, so the SUVs can get about?
Nice try Jeremy, but you’d need a bloody big hamster.
I’m saving up my nuts.

There's no answer to that!

It's a long thread and worth reading.
But he ignores the work of Marlene Guest, the former LibDem council candidate who was forced to defect to the BNP in an effort to get people to pay attention.
And guess what?
Shortly afterwards Andrew Norfolk FINALLY released the research he'd been gathering and sitting on for the past 7 to 8 years!
Blimey.. that's some scroll.
Worth noting.. that link would have been; ghosted/ shadow banned/ down-liked/ deleted/ account dissolved under the progressive liberal owners.
Funny how Lefties have always had a soft spot for pdfs & nonces.
Totally misses out the contributions made by the BNP after they was persuaded to take up the issue by Marlene Guest.
Andrew Norfolk finally publishing the story he'd been sat on for 7 to 8 years was the publicity the BNP were receiving.

With very fond wishes from
Caroline and Rastus
Happy Birthday, Mum ! Have a lovely day.
Thank you, Phizzee, I had a lovely day! It started with an ECG – I am quite worn out now. And the weekend is only just beginning, aaaaghh…… the Swindon Two will be arriving tomorrow evening for the weekend…. it will be a long weekend… oh, and my heart is perfect but my BP is, um, well, high…
A very happy birthday to you PM.
I hope you have a lovely day today. 🤩😊🥂🍾 cheers.
Thank you, Eddy, I had a lovely day after my ECG at 9.00 am. Lunch at the 3 Horseshoes at Madingley with younger son and expecting wife and two grandsons, glass of orange juice into my lap, what's not to like! For more see reply to Phizzee above, I am quite worn out now…!
Take it easy today after all that excitement 😉🙂
👍
Happy Birthday!
A word about the ECG, as I can't reply to your reply. I have to lift my t-shirt or jumper to have the electrodes attached but once in place, my top goes back down over them. I'll be wearing another 24 hour Holter monitor in a few weeks time (which is effectively a 24 hour ECG). That means keeping the electrodes in place for 24 hours. I certainly won't be walking around with my chest exposed all day! If I ever plan to do that, I'll advertise and charge a viewing fee :-))
WHAT!!!!
You're not wearing your vest!
In January?
Ah, the old Liberty Bodice. Is Uncle Bill around this morning?
Morning, Sue.
I hope he is all right.
He signed off early yesterday because he felt ropey.
It always happens after a stint of gardening. I think he is over doing it.
I think you're right – he did a lot of logging and clearing up.
With Afib, one has to avoid overextending and it's necessary to give up caffeine and alcohol and obediently take the meds. Decaf is allowed and one litre of water a day is recommended. I had blood tests on Monday which apparently showed that my body is tolerating the meds well. That's Bisoprolol, Digoxin, Ramipril, Apixaban and Furosemide (which I've run out of – hoping for a GP call and new prescription tomorrow).
Totally agree.
Particularly in wnter.
Was my mother the only person who referred to her structural body support as her BB (or Bust Bodice)?
Reminds me of Joyce Grenfell tripping the light fantastic with Mrs Tiverton.
"The zest goes out of a beautiful waltz when you dance it bust to bust."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clOdyzP9fcw
I knew it as a Liberty Bodice. Always wore one when young as my mother insisted on it and I don't think I knew that there were other garments to which one could attach suspenders for stockings. They were designed of course to provide warmth without the restrictive nature of corsets. Plus there weren't any tights, only stockings, and little girls wore skirts, not trousers. I still wear skirts and without socks or tights, even in winter. One doesn't actually freeze to death but back in the 50s and 60s, the orthodox view didn't countenance that idea.
My mother may have worn one when she was young – but she certainly never put me in one. I had woollen vests or cotton ones, never a liberty bodice.
She wore trousers as well as skirts – usually skirts to the office, trousers at home. I've always preferred wearing trousers and hardly ever put a skirt on these days.
I wore tights from the sixties onwards. Suspender belts to keep the stockings up. And "hold-up" ones came in in the mid-sixties but they didn't work too well. I wouldn't go out in bare legs except in very warm weather.
Gawd…the rubber buttons……..
My mother usually wore a bra – I never saw her in a liberty bodice, though she did have "rollon" corsets sometimes. She was always slight and slim, never overweight though she did have a job to shed a stone or two after I was born.
What do you do with your liberty bodice?
Play with the rubber buttons
Hope you're doing better now, Sue. Sorry about the paraphenalia but at least you're home? not stuck in a side ward, been there done that…
Thanks, Sue, actually it was a doddle, I wore the minimum necessary. I didn't sleep v.well last night, I was worried about early morning traffic hold-ups – my ECG showed a perfectly normal heart but my BP was high, I am now on the beetroot juice until I go to see my gp. Thank you for the happy birthday, for an acct of my day see replies to Phizzee and Eddy above. Exhausted now. And tomorrow I have to dash over to Biggleswade de bonne heure to look after the grandchildren…. The Swindon Two (elder son and wife) are arriving tomorrow evening for the w/end. I may survive…. I may not….!
Happy Birthday, poppiesmum.
Thank you, Korky – see replies to Phizzee, Eddy and Sue for an account of my day (ECG included).
Happy Birthday.
Your deep midwinter is a bit action packed.
Thank you, Anne. Birthdays are incredibly exhausting these days. See above.
Many Happy Returns, Ma'am.
Thanks so much, Delboy! Further details above, see my replies to Phizzee, Eddy, Sue E…
Happy happiest birthday for today , pm .
You and I might be the oldest dolly birds on here .. me 78 yrs in March ..
We had the great times , yes pretty good times , I am sure you did as well.
Were you a snow bound new baby .. 1947 .. bad weather ?
We were in our late sixties when Geoff switched us over from the DT to here ..
Thank you Geoff .. and well done Marguerite for all your tweets , comment and political nous xx
I'm not far behind you Mags – 77 in the summer.
We did have good times….. life didn't seem so dangerous when we were young.
And my thanks to Geoff too for giving us this space to vent.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=petUaYn852Q
Ditto from me, all respects, Ndovu.
A couple of years ago we were trombonists, last year we were strippers in the sunset and now we are old 78 rpm shellac records!
My next birthday is a position in Dr Comfort's book.
Happy birthday PPM hope you have a rip roaringly happy day and are waited on hand foot and finger.
Thank you Alf, I had a lovely day (mostly!!) orange juice not withstanding….! See my account of the day in my reply to Phizzee, Eddy and Sue E…… all slightly different.
My word you really have had a day to remember in more ways than one.
Lovely seeing your children and grandchildren and they sound young enough for them to cuddle you.
We had a Christmas similar to that except our daughter had the whole family to her for Christmas Day. Daughter, sil and 2 granddaughters, son, dil and grandson and us two, vw and me. Granddaughters were 22 and 20 but eldest was 23 on NYE. Grandson is 21 and all too old for those lovely cuddles but we did get hugs.
Thank you, Belle – I don't think you look anything like 78 in your jigsaw photo! Well done you! Yes, I heard all about the 1947 bad weather, they couldn't get the baby christened until April because of it! – so presumably my soul hung in the balance for several months. May we have many more years to come…. all being well. For an acct of my day see my replies to Phizzee, Eddy and Sue E. I am exhausted now, my years are catching up on me…!
Happy Happy B-day Poppiesmum!
Thank you Ndovu, an exhausting day that's for sure! See my replies to Phizzee, Eddy and Sue E
Hope you have a wonderful Birthday, dear., and many Happy Returns. Have a lovely day, are you going to that lovely pub for lunch?
Thank you, HLass, we went to the 3 Horseshoes at Madingley run by the same group, Cambs Cuisine, with younger son and expectant wife and our two grandchildren. For an account of my day see reply above to Phizzee, Eddy and Sue E. An exhausting day. Seeing 78 in print really brings it home to one….!
Happy Happy Birthday, Poppiesmum; don't do anything I wouldn't do!
Thank you, Lacoste, a good day, (see above) I'm really tired now, I'm not as young as I was yesterday!
Grattis på födelsedagen, PM. Hope it's a good 'un. 😊🥂🎂👍🏻
Thanks so much Grizzly, yes it was and stretching into the weekend……
Absolutely many more to Poppiesmum…not far behind you, and always in agreement. Whatever you're up to (ahem)…have a fab day, lottsa love Kate x
Thanks so much, Kate, see my replies above – yes we seem to agree on nearly everything, a very comfortable position to be in. I had a lovely day, lunch at the 3 Horseshoes in Madingley, Cambridge with younger son, wife and grandchildren (ECG in the morning!!); elder son and wife (the Swindon Two) coming up tomorrow for the weekend…. I shall be pole-axed by Sunday evening. Tomorrow I have to dash out early (8.00 am) to get to Biggleswade to look after grandchildren whilst younger son takes expectant wife for a procedure at the maternity hospital. Her pregnancy has been somewhat fraught, due I think to the jab. I will have my own procedure on Tuesday (not maternity I hasten to add for the wags on here, it's for my torn knee cartilage). Hence the ECG today as a precaution. 😘x poppiesmum
Great to hear from you ‘mum, and your fab day…we are so lucky with family, mine here most weekends..yes it’s tiring, I think possibly the noise? usually pretty quiet here and yes recognise the pole-axed feeling 😀 Good wishes to d-i-l at hospital, these things always a bit nerve wracking, been there with daughter. May I ask how did you tear your knee cartilage, not a fall I hope – have had a couple of those, too. All the best for ECG results. Likely see you later weekend when others left and I need a lie-down 😂 btw trust happy birthday x K
Hello Kate – thank you – I tore my knee cartilage chasing new pup (as was then) in the garden trying to get him inside… he did a handbrake turn to escape my grasp and so did I, it was the swift pivot on my knee which did it! I’m still 24 in my head….!
‘morning ‘mum…I think knee cartilage is another of those health issues worsen with age, not as flexible as they once were. Pup likely thought you were playing a lovely new game 😆😆 (I think I’m similar age…)
Thanks so much, Caroline and Rastus; seeing it in print is quite a shock 😱I have to say, it really brings it home to one!
Just returned from the Supermarket. The bus fare has risen (my card doesn't come into operation until 9:30) from £2 to £3. Just another little gift from Starmer and Co.
I wonder for how much longer the Freedom Pass in London will include trains as well as buses. And will I find myself paying the £400+ per month that heart meds cost in the US.
Hope not, Sue. You won't be the only one…sizeable petition ahead (not that it'll make much difference). Can you get any private insurance to help with cost? Even my dogs are on a vet plan where they get 10-15% deduction on meds.
Drop off fee at Heathrow has gone up 20%, from £5 to £6

I have been waiting for the Health Secretary to announce the end of free prescriptions for the over sixties… To save the NHS.
Saving the NHS is more important than saving lives. Ask any NHS administrator.
Think there are more NHS Admin staff than any other staff combined. Have you seen the notices in waiting rooms 'any bad behaviour/language/abuse of our staff will result in you being banned from this hospital'…or similar.
The Admin appear to be ridiculous little empire builders (a bit like some HR departments), who really have no talent and not enough brains to be able to do anything else than the non-jobs that many of them seem to have.
NHS equivalent of Gov’t Civil Service, Hertslass. Really can’t see how situation will improve in a short time frame, if at all.
No, neither can I. It needs someone very incisive.
Agree, doubt it’ll happen anytime soon. Was quite interesting, but not surprising, to find many consultants who work in the NHS also work privately, eg my husband needed a hip replacement, consultant showed him the x-rays which were quite bad. Husband: ‘do you have a private clinic’ Consultant ‘yes I do would you like the details’. As we have a private plan (General Medical) in a group of similar ages, medical issues etc, that’s what we went for. I’m guessing NHS facilities were used when not in use by the NHS (most Fridays, apparently), recovery in a small private ward attached to the main ward – curtains, flowers, window view etc. No problems post-operation, driving tractor etc within a few weeks. Follow-ups all OK. This is what medics do when the NHS facilities are not in use.
It speaks volumes that there are time when the NHS facilities are not in use. Why not? because their consultants are doing their private work? What about all the NHS auxilleries that would have been working in the operating theatres with the consultants – are they moonlighting?
Think it was a C4 programme, presented by Gerry Robinson, number of years ago…he was investigating the hours worked etc in the NHS…obviously could be different today, but at that time operating theatres and staff worked Mon-Thurs. Perhaps a few readers have now had operations/procedures in NHS facilities when they were private patients, as my family have (one offspring had skin cancer, needed attention – couldn’t even get an NHS appointment for two months, went privately, operation carried out within days, using NHS facilities when not in use otherwise – we had to wait longer at pharmacy for prescription to be filled. Waiting rooms packed, as ever – but some are waiting for NHS, some for private patients, perhaps this is more usually the pattern than we know.
If that is the case, why? With a backlog the size of the NHS, why can’t operating theatres and staff work Monday to Friday, like most other people?
We have to protect it with our lives. It is some sort of huge squatting toad in our midst.
Saving the NHS is more important than saving lives. Ask any NHS administrator.
Should have been hanged.
If they were back in their homeland , or perhaps somewhere very fierce they would have been hung from cranes .. and left to the vultures .
Which reminds me of when we stayed with a chum who was compulsive collector of old stuff. (A snapper-up of unconsidered trifles; A Winter's Tale is really coming into it own today.)
We went to his house in the Fens with another couple of friends and were given a choice of bedrooms.
I glanced into the first room and decided the unseen bedroom was preferable.
We never let on to our friends who had to sleep in the rejected bedroom that there was a gibbet standing in one corner. Thank goodness they had limited historical knowledge.
Anyone else had this?

That would solve the obesity crisis and produce electricity.
That would give the cross-channel turds something useful to do while the government decides how to return them.
Elon Musk: Jess Phillips deserves to be in prison over Labour refusal to launch grooming inquiry. 2 January 2024.
Labour has come under fire after refusing to hold a public inquiry into historic sexual abuse by grooming gangs in Oldham.
Elon Musk attacked the decision as “disgraceful” and Kemi Badenoch, the Conservative leader, said a full national inquiry into rape gangs was “long overdue”.
Jess Phillips, Labour’s safeguarding minister, insisted it was “for Oldham council alone” to decide whether to launch an investigation into alleged exploitation between 2011 and 2014.
It takes a foreigner to speak up on behalf of the British people. The truth is that the Political Elites were complicit in these crimes. Their inactivity served as tacit approval. It actually probably increased the number of offences.
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2025/01/02/elon-musk-jess-phillips-oldham-council-grooming-inquiry/
I saw a tweet this morning with a newspaper cutting from 1975 – this rape gang stuff has been going on at least 50 years!
Time they deported them all.
Morning Ndovu. You will get no argument from me except to say that I always opposed their entry in the first place.
Don't knock Enoch.
The sounder the advice the more the politicians don't listen to it!
The politicos were effectively complicit, as were the police, social services and media.
What a set!
And Cur Kneeler was DDP at the time, I think.
"Kemi Badenoch, the Conservative leader, said a full national inquiry into rape gangs was “long overdue”." Even as someone who voted Tory, the obvious question has to be – if a "full national enquiry" is long overdue, and your party was in power for 14 years, why didn't it happen??
My thought, too, SB. Such demands from the current Conservative opposition should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Jackie Smith, Home Secretary at the time, said it was ‘a lifestyle choice’. (Nothing to do with her husband watching porn then, I suppose? Which she tried to claim for on her expenses, IIRC!).
Didn't they demand the pictures be published in Hansard?
I am sure Smith was well aware that girls of that age cannot legally have sexual intercourse whether they chose to or not.
She herself should be in prison for greenlighting the continuation of this mass abuse of our young.
Agreed.
Totally agree and I have commented above, a few minutes ago.
I recall she allowed her husband to compile her expense claims. That she was embarrassed by the revelation tells me she subjected the claims to no more than cursory examination before submission. I'm sure she would have found and removed pornography from the claim – and given her husband a ticking off – had she been sufficiently rigorous.
Embarrassment is not good enough. What other ‘claims’ did she pass without checking? She should be doing her claims herself. Too busy? Absolute tosh.
She probably thought (if she thought anything) it would just get signed off and paid. Perhaps there's a mole in the payments office…….
Senior military officers have been subject of a court martial after subjecting their claim for expenses to only cursory examination.
They were not the personal words of Jacqui Smith. A Home Office circular to police forces, issued while she was Home Secretary, said that the girls made an informed choice.
"In 2008 the Home Office issued a circular to all police forces in the UK.
The subject concerned how constabularies were expected to respond to the issue of child sex exploitation.
The circular was also sent to the then Director of Prosecutions, Nazir Afzal.
In 2018 Nazir Afzal went public about the circular, and an interview is available on u-tube.
Released by Nazir Afzal Former Chief Prosecutor for Northwest England
“…. In 2008 the Home Office sent a circular to all police forces…
Saying “as far as these young girls who are being exploited in towns and cities, we believe they have made an informed choice about their sexual behaviour, and therefore it is not for you Police Officers to get involved in”
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/home_office_knowledge_of_child_s
Who issued the Home Office circular? If it wasn’t Jackie Smith I’m a Dutchman.
I'd be astonished if Home Secretaries signed off every document authorised by Home Office departmental managers. Surely there is some delegation of powers.
I would have thought that diktat had to come from the highest.
“as far as these young girls who are being exploited in towns and cities, we believe they have made an informed choice about their sexual behaviour, and therefore it is not for you Police Officers to get involved in”. As these young girls were minors and therefore below the age they could not, according to the law, make that decision.
I would have thought ‘whatdotheyknow.com’ would have known that.
Caveat Emptor believing websites proclaiming to know it all.
Presumably she signed it off, even if she didn't actually write it.
Well full marks to the person making the requests for information, for their persistence.
Clearly the information requested was not forthcoming even though the enquirer waited patiently for over a year.
They are clearly lying or concealing the information.
Did you see Gavin Ashenden, the former Queen's chaplain who subsequently defected to the Roman Catholic Church, on GB on New Year's Eve? He repeated referred to Elon Musk as Elton Musk. When corrected he laughed and blamed the whisky – or was it whiskey – he was drinking!
Jess Philips needs a Brazillian so that the Islamists can not longer have her by the short and curlies!
Is this really you, Rastus…😂😂😂😂😂
Labour’s “Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee” includes the pledge to every community that there will be a named, contactable police officer.
But senior policing figures have warned that the target is likely to fail because of the record numbers of officers quitting or planning to leave the force.
https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/half-of-public-believe-police-would-not-turn-up-to-burglary/ar-AA1wPwXg?ocid=msedgntp&pc=U531&cvid=26b675c4e585425ab6510ed2d0852602&ei=90
The last sentence says it all. Boat cops on the way !
Labour’s “Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee” includes the pledge to every community that there will be a named, contactable police officer.
Afternoon Eddy. Does anyone actually believe this stuff?
They could start with all the obese ones looking at twitter posts.
😅🤣😂 of course not. They lie about everything.
Lemme think……no chance……
It depends on how you define “community” – the community of Kent, the community of Greater Manchester or even the community of LGBTAQetc. With a big enough “community” it becomes easy to assign a named, contactable police officer.
Well, Araminta, I can assure you that between 1829 and the mid-1980s that was invariably the case.
When I was a residential "community" police officer I instructed the communications room and the station civilians that any request for police assistance on my beat, that was not an emergency, must be given directly to me and I would attend as soon as I could.
This was a foolproof system and it worked very well. The residents of Barrow Hill and Hollingwood [jokingly known to me as 'Beverly Hills' and 'Hollywood'] all knew and trusted me.
I'm usually lady-like, Eddy – but that is complete bollox, rural areas (where there's quite a lot of crime) don't see a copper one year to the next. On busy A road, perhaps, checking speeders, from the comfort of their car or van.
Totally agree, it’s all just another one of the long line of habitual and pathological lying.
aka arse-covering, Eddy. Lot of it about….
A beautiful but cold morning meant I went out to get the firewood I'd sawn on Tuesday chopped.
Came in after a bit under an hour as my fingers, despite the insulated gloves I was wearing, needed warming up with a mug of tea.
Mug of tea duly consumed, so it's togging up again to get more chopping done.
Have you seen those bags of heatable beads, put them in microwave…I think there are small ones to wear inside gloves, fit into palm of hand…might be a bit too clumsy for axe chopping.
You can buy small heat pads for gloves. Bikers and campers use them.
Thanks Phiz, for jogging my memory…had a dim n distant there was something.
After the deluge: It rained more in two hours last night than in the past 21 days together. Luckily I was sheltering in the bar for most of the time.

Good morning, all. Passing through. Spent yesterday in bed – maddening, as chum was coming for lunch. The MR wanted to cancel but I insisted that the event went ahead without me. Very successful!
Today still feeling weird – very tired but no odd pulse/BP – just old effing age, I suppose. KBO
Phizzee – and I do too – think you overdid the gardening work the other day. Take care and rest.

If you need your blood pressure to rise the ladies are talking about liberty bodices, stockings and suspenders. :@)
Just nature's way of preparing us for the eternal sleep ahead. On that cheery note, I had better get on doing something useful with what is left of the present!

You're not alone, Bill. We blame it on the vaccine, affected me the worse in our fam.
KYBO!
Thank you for your concern. It was only a couple of hours.
But still too much.
Gordon Brown said it too. Girls of 12 or 13 are too young to make that a "lifestyle choice" and need protection from these gangs.
That is what the police are for.
There was a case of a father banging on the door to a muslim household because he knew his young daughter was inside with men.
The muslim men called the police and when they arrived threatened to arrest him if he didn't desist.
Any remaining respect i had for the police died that day.

You can request repeat prescriptions online https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/prescriptions/how-to-order-a-repeat-prescription/
I can't.
If I try through Accurx, I hit upon this verification app (provided by Google) which installs malware on my laptop and keeps telling me to upgrade to an operating system it does not support and nor do I.
If I try through NHS Online, it orders me to agree to terms and conditions that require me to disclose private details to unspecified third parties to be analysed "for my security and for management training". A refusal chucks me off the site.
I tried phoning the surgery, which worked before, but this time I got the message "there is an error on the system, try online".
In the end I drove out there and handed over the request on a bit of paper, which may be old-fashioned, but a great deal more reliable.
Yes, mine on 28 day repeat. Delivered.
Though it may take a week to arrive.

"Allowed to exploit.."
Someone please explain to Mr Musk what exactly that entailed. Please also explain to Mr Musk that Sir Keir was in possession of all the glory details.
I should imagine that there are very many extremely grubby skeletons in Starmer's cupboards. The sooner these are fully exposed and he is held completely accountable the better.
Lefties are never held accountable by the media. Never.
We can only ponder on the possible reason/s, janet.
The neck bone's connected to the…?
I believe that the Red Flag is due for an update at Labour Conference.
Exactly, Rastus (good afternoon!), and he won't be the only one. Parliamentary Privilege and all that.
Kemi Badenoch watching Elon's every Tweet on X.. then quickly scrambles a vote winning message.
The time is long overdue for a full national inquiry into the rape gangs scandal.
Trials have taken place all over the country in recent years but no one in authority has joined the dots.
2025 must be the year that the victims start to get justice.
Suella Braverman on LBC radio is providing some unusual balance to the hard Left James O'Brien slot this morning, what a breath of fresh air.
The Lefty listeners must be going crazy
They will just dismiss her as a coconut.
lol, proven that it’s not a racist comment…when literally everything else is a fascist comment (e.g. the sky is blu, the grass is Green etc)
Don't know what grass you smoke but mine is more grey than green…….
I was inelegantly trying to point out the dichotomy between a judge ruling that the term “coconut” is not racist (whereas literally everything else is deemed to be racist in our modern Clown World).

Looking to see her join Reform as her husband has. Guess she must have her reasons.
Reform needs more heavy artillery..
Matt Goodwin (hinted two days ago he may go full-on political with Reform), David Starkey (what a let down), Peter Hitchens, Jacob R-M, Annunziata Rees-Mogg, Daniel ShenSmith, Carl Benjamin..
I’d have thought Goodwin would have already moved. Potential problem with this number of big-hitters is that they start to argue amongst themselves, and then implode the whole movement. I can already sense I’m slowly inching my way away…
Bloody hell that got a bit chilly!

I put them on top of the hotplate covers, NOT the hotplate its self.

Is that advertising Ali's Snack Bar?
Elon Musk continues his interference campaign in UK politics with rape gangs rant claiming girls abused 'without facing justice' when Starmer was top prosecutor.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14243607/Elon-Musk-rape-gangs-Keir-Starmer.html
I do hope Starmer tries to sue Musk.
Sorry, Phiz…bit thick today…can't quite understand your comment?
Translated: "I do hope Starmer makes an arse of himself."
Thanks William…cheered me up…racing certainty I reckon….
Or even the scenario..
Starmer throws down the gauntlet.. "Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears.. it's either him or me, this is a fight to the death."
Ooooh yes please.
There are lefty wokies in the comments making the inevitable false equivalence with claims that Christians have behaved in the same way in the past (but…but…The Catholic Church) without censure and that the Paki rape gangs are victims of WAYCISM!!! There has been paedophile behaviour in the church as there has throughout the establishment but nothing of a comparable nature and on a comparable scale. The argument works in the same way as justifying the millions slaughtered by Mohammedans by pointing out that the Spanish Inquisition killed
ninety two millionten thousand people. (There were fewer than ninety million people in the whole of Europe at the time of the Spanish Inquisition.)True, and nobody expected the Spanish Inquisition.
Not sure I’m with you on this
Edit. Ah. I misunderstood what you meant
Anything that makes Starmer and his cabinet look like twats is good in my book.
This is the first time in years that someone in a position of wealth and power has called out the 'gaslighters'.
Daily Mail doing its usual thing; running with the hare and hunting with the hounds.
BTL comments don't seem terribly impressed by the item.
Yesterday's news reports featured the flooding in the north of England but didn't include this, a breach in the Bridgwater Canal near Altrincham.
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/5e113e4df976adab6aef5746e1931a8b9c8f3bff7f4937ee1f55a51d8b269265.png
My immediate thought was that Max & Co won't find emergency funds to repair it. "It's part of England's history so let it rot" will probably be their attitude. However, it's privately owned and not part of the publicly funded Canal & River Trust.
The breach is in the middle of a one-mile embankment, the most vulnerable part of any canal.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/videos/ce90729r30po
I wonder if the latest new trend 're wilding' with Beavers had anything to do with it ?
Tsk! It's much more likely that the heavy rains of Dec 31/Jan 1 got into the canal and caused overtopping. There are no locks on the canal to hold back water at any point. If there are overflows anywhere then they were overwhelmed.
The flooding of Wainfleet in 2019 had a similar cause.
Well,…… recently we’ve heard of packs of domestic dogs. More far fetched than a big lottery win. Attacking sheep in the Shropshire borders. But it turned out to have been newly ‘re wilded’ herds of wild boar.
But then kept quite.
You never can tell. 🤔🤗
The country is certainly well on its way to the dogs already, Eddy.
I reported a breach in the Llangollen overnight in early 2000s just up from where we were moored. Easily noticeable by the ominous gurgling sounds coming from under the hull keeping me awake. They did come out pronto but took weeks to repair. Cause: badgers in the nearby raised section embankment, which apparently they had been warned about previously. Badgers and dead cows floating around the next day and several hundreds of yards flooded.

O2O,
The Jay report was published in 2014.
Afternoon all,
The Daily Star's front page features the development of a fart-free cow.
CO2 seems to have been replaced by methane as a far more lethal climate changing gas and as a result cows are getting the blame for destroying the planet. However in this video this guy casts doubt on whether cows should be targeted in this way by revealing that sudden increases in emissions of methane have been observed on our planet the source of which has not been established:
https://youtu.be/JCt2MhOzWVE?si=6xt450KPIEJ20xwB
Furthermore, as he reveals that we are now in a terminating phase of the ice age, there is evidence that our Earth is in fact experiencing a recurring cycle of weather patterns due to a number of complex interactions within our solar system.
Yes, there is evidence of unexplained methane emissions going on but a calaminatous emission of cow farts is unlikely to be the cause of our recent unusual climate variations.
Basically, we don't have a clue what is going on and science isn't able to predict the likely immininent changes to our planet.
Seem to remember methane is a gas stored naturally in the earth, some decades ago a whole village somewhere in Africa were killed within a very short time due to minor earthquake releasing methane from the earth. CO2 is a gas the earth and all living things cannot do without (eg trees absorb CO2 and release oxygen, possibly why it feels good walking in wooded areas).
Lake Nyos, Cameroon 1986, KJ. It was CO₂, from, possibly, a volcanic eruption below the lake but they're not sure. It all sounds dodgy to be honest.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Nyos_disaster
Methane, CH₄, is the main constituent of natural gas that we use for our central heating and cooking. We'll all wish for a plumbed in cow when we stop natural gas imports which we need because we're stopping our own natural gas exploration and production.
Thanks mola…good info, jogged the old memory bank. Did not know that about natural gas (husband will I’m sure). It’s a good joke, but I know you’re not joking. What the chuff is wrong with Millibollix and more especially Starmer, monumentally stupid or perhaps kickbacks, Soros and the like. I’m old, have a woodburner, but what about the old with only one bar electric fire…wait until those numbers roll around 😢😢
The cow fart lie was an old one, most likely confected by vegans. Many older people such as us were told at school about the mini ice age, or extended cold snap, scheduled on best estimates of the time to start around 2030 – 2035. That was back in the day though when science education wasn't a subset of the political "science" department. Times change.
Farting Cows! It scarcely seems credible that anyone would believe this tosh. It's like something out of Monty Python.
Sadly that’s correct. As we used to say, “the lunatics have taken over the asylum.”

Methane, CH₄, is being vilified because it's the main constituent of natural gas, which as we all know is a deadly fossil fuel, and must be banned. The cow farts are just the first step towards pulling the plugs on oil and gas.
Edited to add an 'l'.

That was a job and a half, removing all the outside Christmas lights. Difficult to unhook them from the evergreens and shrubs they'd been wound into.
Bin men came earlier to collect the Christmas non recyclables. And the food waste, the container weighed a ton. Next job put all the decorations into the loft again. Not easy on my own. Having a decaff now.
ECG booked around lunchtime tomorrow.
Don't over do it. Space it out. There's no rush.
Nice of you to offer Phizz doors on the latch. 🤣😅
But all done and Erin nicely surprised to see the results until next December.

Correct. We practice a political pretence that we've.got.some wisdom to dispense downwards towards the rest of the world from our moral throne room. Nothing could be further from the facts.
This is the country recall, which is as bad as Ireland in trying to fit up Israel for genocide, for example; a total inversion of the truth. In Ireland's case they even realise Israel does not fit the definition and so they want it changed so that they can get the trumped up charge home.
I never thought I'd ever say it, but on balance I'd say even America is a more ethical society at heart than the UK's and that's going some.
I did work out when the Soviet Union fell and Russia was still deemed the bad guy that Russians were being vilified for throwing out Marxism and returning to the Orthodox Church and I got that the European Union was about the Kalergi Plan but it wasn't until 2020 that our rapid decline really hit me between the eyes.
It really was a case for us of, “look over there, a squirrel”.

Though a terrible incident it's good PR for Tesla cybertrucks.
And didn't the BBC just love using the words "Trump".. "Musk" & "incident" in the same headline.
They got a lot of practice when they invariably spat out the word "Thatcher".
The BBC's infiltration by Leftist detritus started during Harold Wilson's tenure and it has accelerated ever since.

Regarding the outrageously grumpy migrant who doesn't care for the names of English pubs. I've just discovered one in Lincolnshire named The Generous Briton.
Perhaps he needs to take things like this into account. And stop moaning.
Members of the Religion of Peace are not happy unless they are complaining about Western culture and traditions. In fact, they are not happy full stop. How can they be, when their 'religion' is full of instructions not to do things which we find entirely normal such as eating bacon and drinking alcohol?
They are not only unhappy, they are also insane. Rereading the same book all day every day will do that to you.
In-breeding probably doesn't help some mental faculties either.
It is not a religion it’s a way of life, cradle to grave.
That’s why I put ‘religion’ in inverted commas.
Given that he has a terrorism related conviction he should shut his mouth and fuck off.

Should have been deported without right to appeal. Legal aid should not be allowed to challenge deportation.
Deport? Never happens.
An Etrian family was caught telling whoppers on their refugee application in Canada but the hearing overruled the deportation ruling.
The minor discrepancy – they were not recently arrived from Etria, they had previously been granted refugee status in Sweden and had Swedish nationality.
But still they have been allowed to stay.

The NHS has warned people not to go out early in the morning or late at night as the country braces for three days of snow.
It has also urged people to stock up on food and medication amid warnings over the risks to health as temperatures plummet over the next week.

That’s just it, we should laugh. We all need to laugh and laugh loudly.

Be careful what you wish for. They will be replaced by muslims.
Alf and I were just talking about that, how they’ve used our tolerance and all our laws to get themselves into prominent positions. I remember back in the 90’s when a whole load of Muslims knelt down in the middle of the road in Finsbury Park Islington, to pray. Police did nothing to clear them and it’s carried on from then. With the aid of ‘hate’ laws and censorship they’re gradually taking us over without any resistance really.

About 1,700 soldiers from a Ukrainian unit equipped by the West and trained in France went AWOL before firing a shot.
At least 50 members of the new 155th mechanised brigade, one of the few to operate the Leopard 2 battle tank, disappeared while elements of the unit were being drilled in France.
By the time it entered battle for the first time, at least 1,700 of its troops went absent without leave at numerous points. Some 500 soldiers were still missing, it was reported as recently as November.
The exodus came before the brigade was deployed to Pokrovsk, the key logistics hub anchoring Ukraine’s defence against Russian advances in the eastern Donetsk region.

For those of you who kindly asked about my ECG – the result and advice from the consultant arrived this afternoon. All perfectly normal. For the AF he suggests either tablet (Flecainide) or a pacemaker. I am going for the tablet first…

It's been the case that A&E is the only option because GPs don't have available appointments for years. Have they only just noticed? It isn't going to get any better; too many people (who haven't paid into the system) jumping the queue – rather like Starmer, in fact.
I enjoyed watching 'An Ideal Husband' on iplayer.
Now i'm going to watch Julia Roberts give Richard Gere a blow job.
It's an ill wind
Must have missed that bit. Did he fart?
Now that would ruin the illusion of romance
Real life sugar. That advice will cost you $100.
Can't pay – won't pay! x
Price just went up to $200…
I didn't know you were a qualified lawyer…
And i don't remember posting my CV.
Last night, SWMBO and I watched a recording of Gosford Park (2001) which had been on either on Christmas day or Boxing Day. The film had a stellar cast including Michael Gambon, Alan Bates, Maggie Smith, Eileen Atkins, Charles Dance, Kristen Scott Thomas and Richard E Grant among whom we spotted a young Lozza Fox in what must have been one of his first film parts. He was seen mostly in profile and recklessly driving an open-top Bentley. I think he got to say about two words.
I like Gosford Park too. And Brideshead and Chariots of fire and and and…
It's on again tonight – BBC4 at 2200, I think.

Be funnier if it was the other way around though!
That may have happened…who knows. I like the film though. Rags to riches type stuff.
Is she wearing the tie (and bugger all else) then?
Man among pedestrians hit by car on Christmas Day dies in hospital.
btw, the perp, Anthony Gilheaney was a nasty piece of work. A pikey.
He is also wanted by the Metropolitan Police in connection with residential burglary offences and a serious assault.
Gilheaney and O’Leary are both believed to be working together alongside Patrick McDonagh, 22, also of no fixed abode.
McDonagh is also wanted by Cambridgeshire Police and the Metropolitan Police in connection with residential burglary offences in Cambridgeshire and London.
All three are known to frequent North and West London, especially Edgware, Stanmore and Harrow.
Yet another protected one
Why aren't we , the indigenous relatives of Anglo Saxons, Celts and Vikings , protected ?
Hmm. Gilheaney, O’Leary and McDonagh.
You couldn’t make it up.
A chap took to parking a camper van on the grass outside his house. It did obscure the view of traffic leaving the junction and it was an eyesore.
Plod had him move it within a week following a complaint (not from me, I might add, although I didn't like it). Yet… when pikeys do the same they get a free ride for weeks on end, the council have to issue eviction notices, the whole nine yards.
Why, when these vermin turn up can we not douse them in petrol and set fire to them all?
Careful, buddy, people have been jailed for less…..
What a good idea.
Sound like dodgy solicitors!
Sue, Grabbit and Run? We really did have an Estate Agents here recently called "Crook and Blight"
The lawyer who did the conveyancing on my first house was called Crook.

According to my dad, who knows people to whom it’s happened, it’s well known that they steal motor homes from dealers….but the police refuse to investigate.
A few years ago, it was reported in our local rag that “Travellers” had stolen a dog, which was being walked near a field where the gypsies were illegally squatting. Cue outrage from Liberal Leftards. “You can’t say that…you don’t know that…how dare you be so prejudiced etc”.
Anyway, about 6 weeks later, the dog was found with the pikeys 120 miles away.
The dog had obviously made a 'life choice' when being stolen by the Pikeys.
Indeed.
Yes, use a crane to lift over the electric fence, or so I've been told.
Because you can't, wibbling. It's against the law. Down here in South Wales they can do as they like, build where they like, build what they like and still call themselves the "Travelling Community" – even though they never stray from their lawless enclaves, from which they terrorise the indigenes.
well I am off on my work travels again tomorrow, to Riyadh. tho’ it’s a lot better there now than it was on my first trip there in 2015.
Bon voyage. Don't forget your sunscreen !
Take care.
The wonderful weather people have come up with the theory that if the temperature drops below freezing it's going to be cold. Coldest day of the year. And….. 12 degrees on Sunday and the warmest day of the year so far. They must be wetting their pants.

Of course they do. Can't have the dear leader (and the pakistani muslim paedophiles) face justice, can we? No, let's sacrifice a few hundred children to mechanised rape. All for the diversity.
Someone tell me – when does this end?
This has been going on since the 1950's. The real figure for sexually abused children by Pakistani men in the UK is in the region of 40,000. And increasing at a rapid rate.
The real reason the home sec said it was a lifestyle choice because it was too much of a hot potato to deal with.
Not to mention Votes dear boy!
The Julia Hartley-Brewer interview with the trainee eco-nutter Ella Ward is included elsewhere. Here's one of Ward's mentors. This is only part of the interview but it's enough.

I ask you, has this Braine chap ever been right about anything ?

Look. You don't need any type of deep analysis. It's Pakistani men.

It's a sick form of culture that needs removing from the planet. It's inhuman.
And he had the nerve to call that female voter 'dreadful woman'. Needs a poke in the other eye.

Not enough though.
Hear you, Musk often seems to follow up, hope he doesn't let this one get away, be disappointed if he does.

We need those in Londinistan
After taking down and putting away all the Christmas decorations, tree etc and all the outside lights, all now stored in the loft. An afternoon visit from two of our lovely grandchildren with a bit of fun attached.
Give it half an hour and I'm ready for bed now, so I'm popping orff soon. ECG around midday I'm predicting a reasonable result. 🤞😴 good night all. Sleep well all.
Goodnight, R E. You're quick getting your decorations down. Mine stay up at least until Epiphany. I have even been known to emulate Sandringham and leave them up until Candlemas.
We get a bit bored with the decs Conners we like to get back to normal 🤗 whatever that is.
All the best for your ECG tomorrow, Eddy.

Let's see if I've got this right, and here NoTLers wisdom would come in handy:
Rape and murder of young girls is not as bad as racism, or being accused of being a racist?
Is that it?
Correct.
So the Labour Party thinks. What is your question?
Ah, that explains it, I've never been able to think down to that level.
It's a failing of mine.
…and mine GQ.
The only conclusion that one can come to.
That's it, GQ. It occurs to me to ask ..are there similar incidents with young boys?
Not nearly as bad as hurty words on soshul meeja.
"Rape and murder of young girls... is beyond the pale and the law must come down hard on the perpetrators

– Should Donald Trump when he gets into the White House threaten to put 50% tariffs on all British goods until those that covered up the grooming gang scandals and then allowed them to flourish for decades are fully held to account and charged with crimes against humanity if they are found guilty?
Seeing as we no longer make anything i think Trump will have a better deal in mind.
He should certainly put pressure on our current administration with regard to its interference in the judicial process
Right, as long as I know.

So if they don't ruminate away and produce methane by digesting grassy stuff, where do the gassy fart bubbles go?

Sod it, that's me off to bed.
I managed to get a fair bit of chain sawing done before it began to get a bit too chilly to carry on.
The DT advises me that the thermometer outside has dropped to below -2°C!
I wonder what it will be down to in the morning?
Good night all.
Goodnight, Bob. Stay warm.
I am going to bid you goodnight and slope off to bed, too. Sleep well, everybody.

Sleep well, Conners – and Kadi.
But you sleep well after your exhausting day!
Well, chums, like Conners and Kadi, I too have decided to have an early night (at 10 pm instead of the more usual 11 pm). So Good Night all, sleep well, and see you all tomorrow morning.
That may well be the case today, Hertslass – programme I mention was some years ago. Speaking personally (and also anecdotally from others) haven’t really had a great service from NHS despite the gazillions poured into its ever open maw. Some sing its praises, I’m just not one. Others have mixed experiences, some good, some not so much. Can be quite surprising the number of nurses who’ve chatted to me about how useless they think their consultants are, little mutual respect.

Gives you a warm feeling doesn't it.
Especially since he survived and will have to look over his shoulder for so many years to come.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer person!
I hope he receives this treatment on a regular basis. Not enough to kill but make him wish he was dead.
Looks like "the prison authorities" have intervened then.
Please don't call him her "Dad". Please don't.
Where they initially and deliberately put the political prisoner also known as Stephen Yaxley Lennon for his “contempt of court” conviction.
Happy Birthday PM 😘
Thanks so much, Alec, it has been an exhausting day – I’m not as young as once I was! xx

Bastards! I mean that in the most derogatory sense, as opposed to my two children born out of wedlock.
How about this one ?
CLEGG OUT Nick Clegg leaves top job at Meta as he’s replaced by Republican adviser after overseeing Trump’s ban from Facebook
Clegg was reportedly earning £2.7m a year
Mr Clegg memorably oversaw Trump being banned from Facebook and Instagram following the US Capitol riots.
Announcing his departure last night, the former UK deputy PM said: “As a new year begins, I have come to the view that this is the right time for me to move on from my role as President, Global Affairs at Meta.
“It truly has been an adventure of a lifetime! I am proud of the work I have been able to do leading and supporting teams across the company to ensure innovation can go hand in hand with increased transparency and accountability, and with new forms of governance.”
He will be replaced by his deputy Joel Kaplan, who was White House deputy chief of staff under George Bush.

Wonder where he'll be going next?
Brussels
Keir's cabinet.
How about commuting from one to the other?
Double pay?
Yay! Please don’t come back here.
A very liberal amount he was paid, don’t you think.
"new forms of governance.” A little bit of slip letting that one out of the bag.
We could do with some new forms of governance.
From Coffee House,the Spectator
Happy new year Nick Clegg. The onetime Deputy Prime Minister has spent much of the past decade collecting oodles of cash from the social media giant formerly known as Facebook. Clegg has served as one of Mark Zuckerberg’s senior executives at Meta since October 2018, living out of a £7 million mansion in Silicon Valley. Talk about a good European eh?
But all good things must come to an end. And today, just months after trumpeting the UK’s Brexit freedoms on AI policy, he has now announced his departure from Meta. Writing, ironically, on rival platform X, Sir Nick wrote a four tweet statement that had all the spontaneity and joy of a hostage video. ‘As a new year begins, I have come to the view that this is the right time for me to move on from my role as President, Global Affairs at Meta’ he wrote stiffly of his ‘adventure of a lifetime.’
He went on to note, with commendable understatement, that ‘my time at the company coincided with a significant resetting of the relationship between “big tech” and the societal pressures manifested in new laws, institutions and norms affecting the sector.’ Well, yes, you could call it that. And in that spirit of change, Sir Nick is – apparently – ‘simply thrilled’ to say that his replacement is going to be Joel Kaplan, his current deputy. Who he, you might ask? Why, none other than George W Bush’s White House Deputy Chief of Staff.
Reports claim that Kaplan was ‘one of the most forceful voices inside Meta against restrictions on political speech, arguing internally that such policies would disproportionately mute conservative voices.’ Convenient timing, perhaps, given that Donald Trump’s inauguration is now just 18 days away. Clearly the market in ex Lib Dem MPs isn’t what it once was…

Agree. I think our contributions over the years will have been quite large too. Our PMI is I think around 120 but that’s for both of us. I’m eldest but touch wood no health probs yet. He’s Type 2 been on lots of different meds. Went carnivore diet few months ago, no meds now, all vitals normal (except when disagreeing with me 😄). Bit of news just out – Sara Sharif’s father slashed in neck. What a shame. Not. Maybe more to come on that news.
Another day is done, I'm exhausted so wish all my fellow NoTTLers' a goodnight, schhone schlaf bis morgen fruh.

Excellent news. My company is all signed up, mainly because we flog product to the Cloggies and Krauts who love this stuff. And because of the insane policies of the FCA and FRC. I have a standing objective in my job description “to support the company’s responsibility investment and sustainability initiatives”. This should be interesting, for me.
Morning, all Y'all.
It's a rare day that I, living in a timezone ahead of the UK, am up early enough to be ahead of Geoff!
Hope he's OK.
Good to see from Sir Jasper, too.
Now off to work. 🙁
Yo Ok
Return your bedding, let someone who needs it have it
Good morning, all – Friday’s new page is here .
