Good Morning Folks,
Bright start here
The winning women’s game showed football at its enjoyable best
I’m not really into football these days and try to avoid it altogether now it is politicised with all the kneeling.
The mainstream media are going large on it with endless superlative coverage, while obviously it means a lot to some people, the majority appear to just let it all pass them by.
I travelled home through South London just after the match finished, I didn’t see any celebrations, no cars with flags hooting, it just looked like any post lockdown Sunday evening to me down Wimbledon high street.
The bits of the game that I did see just looked like the women were not bringing anything new to the game, they just appeared to want to replicate the behaviour of the men’s game, taking off their shirts, swearing at the ref, wasting time, that sort of thing
The crowds were much better behaved though, but for how long, will the women supporters want to replicate the men over time with violence and thuggery inside and outside the ground.
There appears to be a big effort to make women just like men, not sure if this is levelling up or levelling down.
Morning everyone.
A belated Good morning to you Minty – and to all NoTTLers. late on parade today because (a) I had a lie-in and (b) I had to go to sign my will and have it witnessed. I would have left something to all of you, but most of you will probably pre-decease me! Lol.
“SIR – We are hosting a daughter’s dog and our local Tesco is completely out of Dentastix, but it has been featuring sausages from Dublin for 18 months. The local B&Q has no grass seed for sale and John Lewis will no longer deliver to the province.
The Troubles are over. Our problem here is that we have been selected by vengeful elements in the EU as a whipping boy in punishment for Brexit. The Republic of Ireland is assured that a borderless Ireland will eventually result in a united Ireland.
So either we tolerate the increased impact of the Protocol and prepare for a United Ireland or we resist the unreasonable division of the UK which the Protocol imposes.”
Well, the answer from our “elites” is the former. Bad luck. But it’s for their own good (you, sadly, are just a pleb and what you might want is irrelevant).

Morning MIR,
Makes one wonder, supporting / voting for the governing coalition seems, after following that trend these past three plus decades, to make things progressively worse.
Could it be the Oliver mode of party support ( give us more of the same) is wrong ?
Go to B&M or Home Bargains. They have plenty of Dentastix.
Penny Mordaunt endorses Liz Truss. 2 August 2022.
If a week is a long time in politics, then a fortnight is an eternity. Two weeks ago, Penny Mordaunt was the bookies’ favourite to be our next Prime Minister, riding high in the polls and second among MPs. Now, after a bruising campaign, the vanquished candidate has opted to back the woman who defeated her to the runner-up spot behind Rishi Sunak: Liz Truss.
Go on! No kidding? Who would ever have thought it? Lol!

Britain helps Ukraine hunt for Russian spies eyeing Western military aid. 2 August 2022.
Britain is helping Ukraine hunt Russian spies targeting Western-supplied weapons, the acting head of Kyiv’s military intelligence has said.
Finding and destroying military aid flowing into Ukraine from Western countries is “goal number one for Russian agents”, according to Major General Vadym Skibitsky.
Long-range artillery pieces, such as the US-supplied Himars system, have brought Moscow’s advance almost to a halt and in recent days have rendered bridges in the Kherson region impassable to Russian vehicles, cutting off troops as Ukraine prepares a counter offensive.
Western officials believe Moscow has instructed intelligence agents, possibly including spies from the GRU’s Unit 29155 – deemed responsible for the 2018 Salisbury nerve agent attack and other attempted assassinations – to find the weapons donated by Western partners.
This juvenile drivel reads like something from the Boy’s Own or the Tiger.

Morning, all. Bit of blue, bit of grey and bit of white in the firmament over N Essex.
Yesterday Johnny Norfolk mentioned that Truss has ruled out further lockdowns. Sunday last a contributor to Daily Sceptics wrote to both candidates asking what they would do in the event of another ‘pandemic’. Toby Young’ s Daily Sceptics created a template email for people to send to Truss and Sunak.
Did a flurry of emails from the public requesting her stance on lockdowns prompt Truss’s, on the face of it, positive response? Comments on the article are mixed and point out that politicians are adept at saying one thing and meaning another and also at outright lying.
She claims that she wouldn’t authorise one but if she signs us up to the WHO/Bill Gates pandemic power grab agreement, then is it likely that Tedros & Co could have the authority to impose restrictions? Is she playing with a straight bat? We’ll have to wait and see.
‘Morning, Peeps. Cool and overcast here, but no rain.
Not a very inspiring crop of DT letters today, but the last one caught my eye:
SIR – When did banks cease to be service providers?
I recently had a most peculiar experience at Lloyds. I was required to make an appointment to open a new monthly savings account (as I was not receiving any interest on my current one). I was seen by a young man, who asked what exactly I wanted. I explained, and he asked for my card. He then informed me that I had three accounts and proceeded to tell me the balance on each one.
I replied that I knew all this, and requested the form to open the new account. I was then asked what I was saving for.
I admit to getting irritated here, as I felt this was my business alone. He went off to get the form, then said I had to watch a video before he could open the account. I declined and left. Later, the bank manager rang me to ask why I had not opened the account. I explained that, having banked with Lloyds for 64 years, I did not need to see a video to open an account. She told me this was the only way to do so, and had been the bank’s practice for five years.
I wrote to the complaints department, which replied that I had to watch the video in order to be sure I was applying for the right “product”.
When the people who dreamt this system up go to buy a joint of lamb, are they required to watch a video to ensure that they are receiving the right joint?
Maybe they should be made aware of all the other products that the butcher has to offer.
I am now transferring my banking to another provider.
Rev Wendy Griffith

Apart from the effrontery displayed by Lloyds, the simple fact is that they don’t want modest personal accounts. You only have to read about their enforced closure of accounts held by small charities to have realised this by now. Despite all the fluffy, big-budget TV advertising, where they talk about anything other than providing a service (and a bit of interest would be nice) these do not provide sufficient opportunity to exploit the customer, legally or otherwise. Far from being ‘by your side’ they prefer to be ‘on your back’. It was once an honourable service-led profession, but no longer.
The video is the lawyers response to the mis-selling scandal. Lloyds is shit.
It isn’t just Lloyds, though. I had to watch a boring video to open a Halifax account. They make it as difficult as possible a) to use the branch and b) to actually get at your own money. Then they wonder why people don’t visit the branch that often.
I have had a Barclays account for nearly 25 years as well as a £3k overdraft. I have not found it necessary to use the overdraft in that time but it was nice to know that it was there should I need it. Today I received a letter informing me that said overdraft facility was being withdrawn. No reason was provided. I could understand it if I habitually misbehaved financially but I have an excellent credit record. I will be looking for a new bank. Any suggestions will be gratefully received.
A catastrophic energy crisis will fuel a revolt against our failed elites. 2 August 2022.
This is the summer before the storm. Make no mistake, with energy prices set to rise to unprecedented highs, we are approaching one of the biggest geopolitical earthquake in decades. The ensuing convulsions are likely to be of a far greater order of magnitude than those that followed the 2008 financial crash, which sparked protests culminating in the Occupy Movement and the Arab Spring.
More and more of these MSM hacks are beginning to sound like Nottlers! I think that it might be beginning to dawn on some of them where we are heading!

I don’t see it myself, the powers that be have planned and created this crises, I think the idea is that we all turn on each other and the authorities, the globalist elites will be sitting back and admiring their handiwork.
I do wonder what will happen if the can’t pay, won’t pay crowd actually reaches a critical mass. Will government force a price cap? Will it give people their own money back or will it simply turn off the power to those homes?

A catastrophic energy crisis will fuel a revolt against our failed elites
Politicians cannot shirk responsibility now for the extreme hardship millions of people are about to face
SHERELLE JACOBS
1 August 2022 • 9:00pm
This is the summer before the storm. Make no mistake, with energy prices set to rise to unprecedented highs, we are approaching one of the biggest geopolitical earthquake in decades. The ensuing convulsions are likely to be of a far greater order of magnitude than those that followed the 2008 financial crash, which sparked protests culminating in the Occupy Movement and the Arab Spring.
The gathering crisis could prove even more catastrophic than the oil shock of the 1970s, which wrecked the administrations of three British prime ministers, presaged 40 years of American entanglement in the Middle East, and (due to the oil glut that followed) ultimately triggered the Soviet Union’s collapse.
Carnage has already arrived in the developing world, with power outages from Cuba to South Africa. Sri Lanka is just one of a cascade of low-income countries where leaders face being driven out of power in an ignominious blaze of petrol droughts and loan defaults.
But the West is not going to escape this Armageddon. In fact, in many ways, it looks set to be its epicentre – and Britain, its Ground Zero.
In Europe and America, a technocratic elite system built on mythology and complacency is crumbling. Its founding fable – which prophesied the nation states’ glorious enmeshment in world government and supply chains – has metastasised into a parable of the perils of globalisation.
For all the attempts to depict the Ukraine war as a black swan event, a spike in basic commodity prices in a volatile world was perfectly predictable. People are left wondering why their leaders failed to make contingency plans, given that they sit on vast untapped reserves of gas, oil and coal. The EU was supine in the face of Putin’s bid to keep the region’s market divided and dominate its more compromised powers.
Nor is there any explanation for this fiasco apart from decades of failed assumptions and policy missteps by our governing class. In the wake of the financial crash, the establishment just about managed to convince the public to submit to the purifying rigours of austerity, persuading voters that we all shared the blame for the crisis and must all play a role in atoning for the country’s mistakes. This time, elites cannot shirk responsibility for the consequences of their fatal errors.
Put simply, the emperor has no clothes. The establishment simply has no message for voters in the face of hardship. The only vision for the future it can conjure up is net zero – a dystopian agenda that takes the sacrificial politics of austerity and financialisation of the world economy to new heights. Actively campaigning for boiler bans, 15mph speed limits, and speculative green bubbles may seem like madness. But it is a perfectly logical programme for an elite that has become unhinged from the real world.
There are several countries where we might see the first signs of a resulting populist revolt. The Germans must swallow national humiliation along with higher energy bills, as their political leaders are taunted on the world stage for their naive bid to prioritise economic harmony and trade links over security. According to some analysts, France, which is no stranger to protest, could be the first in Europe to experience blackouts despite its sizeable nuclear industry. But it is Britain where things could truly blow.
The UK may well be the tinderbox of Europe. With the ousting of Boris Johnson and his imminent replacement by a politician who will not have led his or her party into power via a general election, the political context is particularly febrile. Even more so given disillusionment at the waste of the past two years and the failure of the Government to capitalise on Brexit to renew the country.
Moreover, Britain’s consumers look set to be clobbered harder than most. We already have the highest inflation in the G7. But a succession of fatal policy mistakes – from the closure of gas storage facilities to the failure to exploit our domestic oil and gas reserves – mean that we will remain unnecessarily vulnerable to sky-high international energy prices for years to come, with all the pain that will bring consumers.
Despite this, Britons are set to receive less assistance from the Government than their counterparts in other Western countries. The 5p cut in fuel duty has been estimated as the second smallest in Europe. While our politicians pontificate about insulating more homes at some point in the distant future, Spain has made many train journeys free until the end of the year. France has vowed to fully nationalise the energy giant EDF, which it had already forced to cap consumer bills.
A civil disobedience movement, inspired by the poll tax revolt, has already been launched here in the UK. The Don’t Pay campaign, which is urging people to join a “mass non-payment strike” when the energy price cap is raised in October, has gained thousands of online supporters.
And if it does take off, what are the authorities going to be able to do about it? Such is the scale of the coming price rises that millions may simply be unable to pay their bills – including pensioners and families hitherto part of the middle classes. The risk is that, bogged down with leadership hustings, the Tories realise too late that they need to act. The predicament we face is likely game-changing. We have barely begun to grasp how unpredictable the next few years are likely to be – and how poorly prepared we are to face the consequences.
If weaning ourselves off Russia – a comparatively small economy – is this painful, how are we to end our addiction to cheap goods from China? If we do manage to achieve a greater degree of energy self-reliance, how will we contend with the collapse of petrostates in the Middle East and the migration crisis that is likely to follow?
This may sound like a grim prognosis, but particularly in Britain it does feel as if we just may have entered the final act of an economic system that has patently failed. It is clearer than ever that the emperor has no clothes and has no more stories to distract us with.
The reaction from the majority of the BTL posters is predictable:
Don Coyote 10 HRS AGO
Don’t worry Sherelle, there’s no chance of us becoming self-sufficient, given the energy corruption at the heart of our governing class. They’re all in on it.
Both candidates for PM have hit upon a glib line that mug punters are falling for already.
‘We will frack, if there is local consent’
What does this mean?
If two houses out of 200 nearby object, does that mean we can’t frack? If so, we will never frack.
We are in a national emergency and *still* they won’t drill for the gas under our feet,
It is corruption, cowardice, or, more likely, both.
Tony Jarvis10 HRS AGO
And just what are our government doing to ease the situation? A big fat nothing. Somehow it is ok to use gas from fracking in the USA but not from fracking in the UK. Our government has put every possible obstacle in the way to stop our offshore industry flourishing and to prevent fracking from even getting started. People will die and our politicians can not bring themselves to admit that Net Zero is a failed policy.
Timberton Cartwell3 MIN AGO
Our elites have certainly failed us. Ignorant, incompetent, self-obsessed and unwilling to address the issues that matter – or should matter: waste, NHS failure, quangos, delivering Brexit properly, immigration, military procurement failure, police wokery, lack of energy security…… They simply don’t understand what is necessary to secure our society against the threats we face. Until this happens, we will continue to slide into third-world decline.

Johnson. Johnson. Johnson. The bloviating fool of a PM who did nothing. Understood nothing. Who hollowed out this country from the inside out. An absolute criminal led by his pecker and cheap tacky slogans. Perfectly placed to be the one who was to be pushed into a Nation breaking shut-down of the economy by the closet woke and fascist health blob.
The clown who embraced and embraces the economy busting zero-carbon.
The PM who needed to be liked so much that the country he led was secondary.
And still there is a sizeable quantity of brain-dead morons who would have him back!!!!
Not government – state. Big state doesn’t want us fracking as that would mean diverging from EU regulation. Same as the 25% corporation tax hike – if scrapped – would mean diverging from EU rules. As would building reservoirs.
All to remain aligned with the EU.

Portrait of tyrant Thomas Picton moved to side room in Welsh museum. 2 August 2022.
For more than a century, the portrait of Thomas Picton hung in a prominent position at the National Museum Cardiff, the image’s description hailing him as a military hero rather than a tyrant and a torturer, before it was removed from view in the wake of Black Lives Matter protests.
Picton was a rough devil as even Wellington acknowledged though his supposed crimes were not personal indulgence but administrative decisions. What is beyond doubt is that he gave not only his life for his country but also some measure of his personal health in that he was certainly suffering from PTSD at his death at Waterloo. One wonders in fact if this was not engendered in his earlier career before he became Governor of Trinidad. Whatever; heroes are not made of sugar and spice; that requires sterner stuff which should not disbar them from their deserved place in history.

The black lives don’t matter group were a bunch of abusive racists who should have been crippled at birth. The entire bunch are immigrants, welfare is rife, as is crime, social breakdown and unemployment. To demand special treatment when they already have such by the privilege of living in this country is idiotic.
Then they should just change the damned description, while still acknowledging his influence! Cancelling people for their imperfections is so pernicious. I suppose at least they haven’t burned the painting. Yet.

Does Krankie have black genes .. she is behaving like Idi Amin
I don’t think skin colour has much relevance there.
He proclaimed himself King of Scotland. Perhaps she is his daughter.
It’s time to offer Sturgeon a referendum on independence and to set out the terms publicly. The sort of terms that would crush Scotland into pulp. Permanent economic obliteration.
A bit like the EU is trying to do to the UK you mean?
Of course. Let us ignore the facts as regards how Scotland became and equal partner! in the UK. Harassment and bribery. The votes of a hundred people. Are we still upset? Yes, a bit. Then wibbling suggests more of the same.
I was always extremely pro the union.
At the time of the last referendum the anti-English rhetoric, which continues to this day, has made me less so.
You do realise that no one up here likes or respects Ms Sturgeon? Why don’t you just nuke Scotland as you have clearly no liking for any of us?
Moreover, a referendum is not entirely in the gift of Westminster. Of course, if Scotland simply seceded, there is not much could be done about it.
It is the rhetoric Sturgeon spouts that I dislike. It’s her I’d have silenced. If she were that unpopular she wouldn’t be in office.
I think it’s more the “II” which got up Nicola’s nose; HM is the first Elizabeth of Scotland.

All part & parcel of the big reset picture.
Is there anything about this is the BBC? Are they just trying to pretend it’s not happening? They’re not so stupid that they cannot believe people won’t find out from elsewhere or are they desperately trying to spin the truth to suit their own ego?
The bbc is one of them, desperately distracting us from any whisper of what is really going on. They know that a few of us will find out, but they are only a few, what they are concerned with is that the flock doesn’t find out that their lives are shortly to be destroyed. Most people have no idea about the Netherlands, Sri Lanka, Canada. I gave our Waitrose delivery man a quick five minute introduction of the situation especially in regard to the Netherlands, I think he wished he hadn’t been chosen for our delivery. He knew absolutely none of it.
People believe what they see on the BBC – or they just don’t look any further. They are absorbed in the minutiae of their own lives. My OH is one of them – so long as he can play tennis, listen to music, play the piano, look after his birds………. he has no interest whatsoever in what’s going on in the world.
Even though the present events are connected to that which will interfere with what is going on in his – and their – world in every possible way in the fullness of time; from where they can go, to what they can eat and wear, where they can work, live…..
It’s more worrying how it will affect young people. We’ve seen a lot of life in our time, and have been able to do the things that interested us.
He will likely stay sane for longer than the rest of us!
Well – on this gloomy day I’ve become thoroughly fed up with he state of the world………while he took another call and has gone off to pick up another grounded swift fledgling.
I warned the mother of one of the children who have riding lessons about what was happening in the Netherlands because she was going off there shortly. She had NO idea at all.
For example. Did the BBC announce this bit of news?

If this is true it means that ‘the war’ in Ukraine is part of this and has been as was often mentioned at the start.
Why hasn’t Vlad wiped out these protagonist they have often all been in the same place at the same time. A couple of well aimed missiles would do the job. Unless of course which is hard to believe, he is involved.
If this is the case then we are indeed, all doomed.
And of course Bill Gates has been buying up as much agricultural land as possible in the US.
This, coupled with his interests in Big Pharma, indicate that he is competing with Klaus Schwab to see who can prove to be the most evil person in today’s world.

supported every few years by the brain dead of the electorate, in their pursuit of more of the same to be suffered as long as the “party” is in power.

I have said this before. A trickle becomes a flood. We saw it several years ago in the Med. The government have no intention of stopping it.
I agree – but I still cannot entirely fathom out why the politicians of all parties deliberately wish to exterminate Britain. What is in it for them?
Money. Someone is paying them millions to look the other way.
To spend on what Bill?
This is the real mystery to me, if, as it seems they are intent on trashing this and every other civilised country/culture what is the next logical step?
Power? Power over what?
To exercise their new found wealth in a world of riot, rebellion and resentful ‘slaves’? Constantly looking over their shoulders for where the threats to their lives may come from?
They see no threats. They know the population is supine.
Hubris.
That single word describes their mindset. They are convinced they can never be wrong. Everything they are forcing on the masses is for the long term good of those masses. They cannot accept that there might be alternative solutions/reasons for the world as it is.
When Nemesis comes they won’t believe it is happening.
To reign is worth ambition though in Hell
Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven!
(John Milton Paradise Lost)
It is a sign of the times that so few people can still understand and appreciate the greatness of the poet, Milton.
However, I was delighted to discover that two of the students who are with us at the moment are studying Books 9 and 10 of Paradise Lost for their “A” levels next year.
Their own skins, I cannot think why else they would do this.
And the gutless bastards including the civil service can’t, won’t, or don’t want to explain why they are destroying our culture and social structure. It’s not their country but it is their responsibility to explain why they are doing this.

Morning RE,
Because the majority voter are backing them
I suspect most snivel serpents are like the chap I talked to at St Pancras before I caught the Eurostar; rootless, didn’t know where he really belonged because he had a foreign wife and commuted between London and the continent. By contrast, I am hefted to the land despite being widely travelled.
It seems they all work and react to their manuals.
I knew a fairly senior CS and he behaved like some sort of robot.
Population in Europe is in decline. Government becomes irrelevant without someone to represent. They don’t care about anything else.
Population in Britain should by now be declining gently to a more manageable size.
Yes, that will cause a few transient problems, but we do not need the massive influx from foreign cultures we are seeing,
We ran the world with a UK population of under 40m. This was at a time when we had lots employed in industry. Now, we have 30m more. No industry now, so a total of 20m would suffice? Yet the politicians continually insist that we need more people.
The number of indigenous Europeans may be declining, but their replacements are breeding faster than rabbits.
The eu return.
Votes dear boy, BAME votes they are the ones that swing the marginal constituencies and thus the road to power!!

Morning all 😃
Weather still nonconformist.
No rain here.
‘Morning.
Chucking it down here.
Sunny and windy here.
Do remember the garden centre we went to Bob ? Every day now the car park is absolutely rammed.
Yes, I can imagine!
People seem to go to those places for a day out!!
Mind you, when I was at 36 Engineer at Maidstone, some of the lads used to go to the motorway service area on the M2 for a late night bite to eat and watch the cars go by!
When i was a biker we always used to meet up at South Mimms for a big fry up.
Did you ever get to the Ace Cafe?
Yes. Several times. And Box Hill.
I haven’t been to Box Hill but always really enjoyed the Ace Cafe!
Were you a back warmer or a hard body? Or did you ride one yourself.
All three – depending. I did have my own small Suzuki GT250 bike but I was a better pillion and enjoyed being on larger bikes – a boyfriend had a Honda Gold Wing (although 1000cc it was like sitting on a sofa) and two Harleys – big and sexy with silver studs but if they did more than about mph the wheels would probably have fallen off… not so sexy being overtaken by a Citroen 2CV on the motorway!
I once rode pillion from London to denmark (via FLushing on the ferry) on a Suzuki 750, I think. God, it was boring!
“Rammed”? You mean there are lots of crashes?
Or is the car park “crammed”?
People just popping in and parking in the car park Bill.
Oh, well done Joe.
Leave Afghanistan as shambolically as possible and wonder why Al Qaeda is invited home and is rapidly being a real threat again.
Then ensure you stir the hornet’s nest as hard as you can.
Still, I’m sure you think it will benefit you in the mid-terms, just like your puppet master did previously.

A 2nd good morning to one and all! Out of bed now after a couple more hours of zzzz with another mug of tea beside me.
Wet & dull but still with 14½°C outside.
Bring back summer! 16mm of rain overnight here…`18.6C temp but gloomy with it…
Damp and gloomy here.
But what’s the weather like?
Much the same………
We had more rain but this morning it was damp, humid and 23 degrees – very uncomfortable!
Steady drizzle here today.
It started about half a hour ago. Stopped.
What, a flash of common sense in Westminster?
Good morning. A stark warning from Sri Lanka….

I wonder what measures Klaus Schwab has to take to save himself from being lynched and cut into pieces.
And how many tears should we shed for the death of a person who is truly evil?
The trouble is, Richard, the 99.9% of the great unwashed have never heard of him or of WEF.
They are the ones who think we are swivel-eyed, foam-flecked conspiracy freaks.
I have stopped trying to explain to my son and his wife – and, to an extent, the MR – they just think I am mad.
My OH, back from his mission to take the swift chick to an experienced carer (nearly three hours there and back) is now watching the athletics, blissfully unaware of any ‘great reset’.
I’d rather watch trombetti grow…
I had to read “swift chick” twice. I had visions of your OH with a young fast lady!🤣
Me too!!
He’s now gone to pick up another….
I, too, have given up trying to speak to my family on these issues. Blank faces and rolled eyes are the usual responses: they really do believe that the government is doing its level best. What a shock they have coming.
Indeed the wife of one of my best friends – with whom we were staying last week – was astonished to hear that Caroline and I both had Covid and had it so mildly that we got over it immediately even though neither of us has had the jabs but relied on Vitamin D and Zinc. Indeed she was at a loss to understand why the triple jabbed of her acquaintance who have recently had Covid have had it so badly while we escaped virtually Scot free.
I am beginning to think that there is a growing level of resentment amongst the multi-jabbed against the unjabbed who suffer far less from Covid than they have done when they did as they were told.
My husband went for an endoscopy yesterday- he did a lateral flow test which was simply a Q tip up the nose. At no time was he asked about jabs or boosters. And he said the test was done because they had to seem to do something.
I sincerely hope that these NHS people realise that most of the public are onto them.
I say most people because a lot of folk are still wearing masks and there are mad bats like the one I encountered just before having surgery.
I don’t think “most of the public” are on to them. Amongst our friends and acquaintances there is no-one who has anywhere near the scepticism that Alf and I have, about the injectates. I’m not sure any of them are even remotely interested in hearing about adverse effects or young people suddenly falling down dead or children having damaged livers. Perhaps the answer is that, as they’ve fully bought into the narrative (and after all we’ve had psychological warfare against the population for a long long time), they cannot possibly bring themselves ,to even co spider that what has been done is evil.
He’s not evil, just misguided. People like him usually are. What’s needed is for his entire agenda to be ignore, big state crushed, taxes reduced by, oh, 98% and markets set free. Within 2 years his entire world view will be shown as stupid and moronic.
The Remoaners will be whimpering fools, the Left smashed forever. Markets work. Markets create wealth. markets respond to merit and achievement. Allowed to operate, they’re the best way of alleviating poverty, of closing the wealth gap, of reducing welfare, of removing favouritism, of improving services – everything improves in the face of competition. Now, a market where government can rig the result – that’s not a market, so immediately you cut the state out.
Lionesses boss Sarina Wiegman ‘will pocket a £200,000 bonus for winning Euro 2022’ and is ‘in line for a bumper new contract’ as FA chiefs look to tie her down despite there being two years left on her current £400,000-a-week deal. Headline D Fail
Does she really get that for supervising a bunch of ball kickers? How much do the ‘big boys’ get?
Edit: It says £400,000-a-year in the main article. Pocket money to the ‘lads’.
That can’t be right. She is never on £20 MILLION a year!!
That £400,000 is her year’s salary, Ped.
Not as much as Lineker gets

That’s all very well…..but unless she is in a club team of similar talent, I really can’t see the team she might play in will be a crowd puller.
She could take over the Engerland men’s XI.
She’s the manager, not a player.
The best paid women will mainly be playing in the USA, where they might top out at £500,000 a year, if they are very lucky.
A hell of a lot more than that.

Of course not – the WEF would cancel any UK politician who tried that on.

Have a bit of culture…
Les Troyens ([le tʁwa.jɛ̃]; in English: The Trojans) is a French grand opera in five acts by Hector Berlioz.[1] The libretto was written by Berlioz himself from Virgil’s epic poem the Aeneid; the score was composed between 1856 and 1858. Les Troyens
is Berlioz’s most ambitious work, the summation of his entire artistic
career, but he did not live to see it performed in its entirety. Under
the title Les Troyens à Carthage, the last three acts were premièred with many cuts by Léon Carvalho’s company, the Théâtre Lyrique, at their theatre (now the Théâtre de la Ville) on the Place du Châtelet
in Paris on 4 November 1863, with 21 repeat performances. After
decades of neglect, today the opera is considered by some music critics
as one of the finest ever written.

A bit high-brow for you?
Ha !
It was in Star trek. :@)
Jan Brett who wrote many wonderful children’s books, wrote a book called Berlioz The Bear. Berlioz and his band of bear musicians go on tour and want to win awards but things get in the way. The illustrations are superb.
When we did the Alphabet People in kindergarten- Berlioz was, obviously, B.

I’ve briefly seen some of the ladies badminton just now. One is from Singapore. Whenever she scores a point some ill-mannered ill-bred wog toots endlessly and loudly on a voovoozuela (spelling?). The hall plays music at the breaks and a break dancer, also not white, makes an appearance on the sidelines.
This would not be tolerated in a church hall club game. There seems to be no one with the intestinal fortitude to take the offending instrument and destroy it, and the owner along with it.

Perhaps she’ll change her mind and go back to being a Limp Dumb.

“The government you elect is the government you deserve” – Thomas Jefferson.
Surely a better route is to scrap the equality and diversity acts, thus making the roles and make work redundant. As for holiday, I don’t care. It’s holiday. What we need is half as many civil servants doing only what needs to be done – and that’s not a lot.
I believe, as usual, there has already been a U-turn.

Some of you may have missed this late last night.
It’s 50 years ago this month that Idi Amin ordered people of Asian ancestry to leave Uganda. I remember it well as a schoolboy but I don’t remember this poster being issued by the city council of Leicester. The story was featured on BBC East Midlands Today.

Foreigners without any passports or papers continue to arrive in our country illegally and in considerable numbers. However, a small group with paperwork and a legitimate reason for being here are held up between France and here. The athletic team from The Gambia arrived too late to compete as planned in the Commonwealth Games.
What topsy-turvy madness!

As a matter of idle curiosity, why did they come via France, were they being dinghied in?
Apparently they were training in France for a few months. There are no real details as to whys and wherefores. It may have been misunderstanding, stupidity, or bureaucracy at its worst. The contrast between those who are supposed to be here and those who are not is interesting though.

Pension?? I don’t get it for another 9 years – age 70. Father died at 71, so looks like I’ll not get long to enjoy retirement… 🙁
Oh blimey mate! What a little ray of sunshine you are! 💕
In any case, for the car resto (Mini saloon, mini van), we need a welder – and for the farm as well.
I made a near-perfect (TISSMS) balsawood model of a MIG 15 – and a USAF F-86 Sabre in 1951, Bill.
They stood on a home-made mahogany and perspex plinth.
Neat! Good on you!
Some day your plinth will come…
Let’s just hope it isn’t Harry …Oh sorry I thought you meant plank will come..
I used to own a MIG welder, but I gave it away to someone who was better at using it than I was 🙂
This one is high tech. You dial in the material and thickness, and it sorts out the current and wire feed speed. Weights B-all, as the Finns use technology rather than huge copper transformers to make the voltage/current, unlike the Chinese crap I bought some years ago – that was heavier than my car! The Kemppi can be used with a shoulder strap, up a ladder! (You listening, Bill??)
I should never have sold my inverter TIG/MMA welder or my MIG welder when I moved house but I’d lost my workshop so there didn’t seem any point in keeping them – how wrong I was.
I’d also sold my milling machine and all the tools/accessories…..hey ho!
The lathes also had to go but they were too big anyway
Very impressive – although I had enough problems welding stuff standing on a solid floor, never mind a ladder!

Watch out for the straw, Oberst! Our SiL’s uncle on the neighbouring farm, set fire to his straw barn last week, and it’s still smouldering!
A big one or a little one , OB?
That’s a bit personal, Belle;-))
My smutometer is rapidly approaching the first “L” on the scale of L to L
About time you went for a cold shower!
Been there, done that, I’ve just finished over an hour and a half of wall-washing the algae to keep the pool clear, the cold shower was bliss!

Les Dawson would have been proud of that
It was brilliant. Spiritually renewing.
Glad you liked it.
I must confess I liked this!

I went to the fridge to get a tomato to make my lunch of Tomato and cheese on toast and found the tomatoes to be spoiled by a liquid white substance. I sliced the worst one up and the innards just flowed out. They were Sainsbury’s tomatoes in a packet of 6. Imported from the Netherlands. grown by TV Noord I have never seen tomatoes like that, I don’t know what has caused it.
I ate the last one after I had cleaned it up. It wasn’t affected
Good luck tonight…
I am a bit wary.I have a photo of it but it won’t be accepted. It must be very infective
Don’t stray too far from the toilet.
I never do these days Oberst.
Fungus…https://plantvillage.psu.edu/posts/4795-tomato-white-paste-substance-on-tomato
Complain loudly to the supermarket.
Probably Phizzee but I have never seen that condition before. Off to watch Nigel now
You might want to read this…https://www.tomatonews.com/en/research-alternaria-toxins-in-tomato-products_2_1460.html
Are you suggesting that the fungal condition is probably Phizzee?
You should have photographed it.
You shouldn’t keep tomatoes in the fridge. Or cukes.
Fruit and veg from NL is not the best. It looks good but is not that good to eat. We now just purchase the loose tomatoes never in a packet or on the vine.
So, who’ll take the reins from ‘one term’ Biden and is Kamala Harris really popular enough to follow him?
If rumours around Washington are to be believed, Biden is unlikely to run for a second term. And if not, who else has the political clout to potentially see off Trump? Sarah Baxter reports
https://www.standard.co.uk/insider/joe-biden-elections-democrats-kamala-harris-next-president-b1015996.html
Seems he is incapable of running a bath…
I’m still betting that he’ll be stood down and that Harris will get a chance at nearly 10 years as President.
She will be allocated a suitable VP with a broad reach Democrat ticket to ensure re-election.
We shall see…
And as an aside, because the Democrat’s immigration policies should get them sufficient votes, I would not be at all surprised to see Michelle Obama “given” a safe ticket and being selected as VP herself and then seeing Harris stand down for MO to get nearly 10 years.
Assuming WW3 and the NWO/WEF haven’t taken over entirely
“Oh Happy Days…”
How about:-
Kamelarse takes over
Appoints Hillary as VP
Within weeks or even days, Kamelarse has an “accident”
Hillary takes over.
Biden has no political clout and neither has Pelosi. They are both senile and she is a drunk.
Harris is beyond feckless and merely a cackling hag. Hillary is tainted by corruption in particular the Russian hoax and multiple impeachment attempts perpetrated on President Trump by her.
Michelle Obama is living the high life thanks to her husbands grifting and would be mad to give up Martha’s Vineyard for a stab at the Presidency. She has no actual experience of anything much.
The mid terms will tell all. The Democrats and Press barons are pushing the Monkey Pox for all they are worth with a view to imposing lockdowns, social distancing and vaccine passports all over again. This will be the Democrats’ means of repeating the fraudulent actions of the 2020 election with mail in ballots and drop boxes plus exploitation of myriad other loopholes afforded them by another faux pandemic.
It remains to be seen whether people will submit to a second mugging by these tyrants.

354791+ up ticks,
The electorate majority are “coalition blind” even with 20/20 vision they just refuse to acknowledge what is in their face.
The smallest book in the world holds ALL the kept vows, promises, & pledges of the coalition a relaxing 5 second read for confirmed idiots.

Bizarre as it might seem, I think Corbyn has a better grasp of Realpolitik than any of those in power!

Nottlers have a better grasp of all the problems the country is in than the whole HoC and snivel serpents combined. In fact they are the problem and NOT the solution.
Are you suggesting that Nottlers are the problem?
};-O
Not at all. Politicians and civil servants.
I knew that, but the open goal was irresistible!
Some Nottlers are a big problem….
And are some little/lottle ones a bigger problem?
};-))
Totally OT- just went into the kitchen and asked my husband if he needed anything. Yes, he said, you back as soon as possible. Find the right guy, eh?
You obviously didn’t hear the second part of the sentence – “with a cold beer”.
He doesn’t drink much beer…only at the pub when it’s a pint of Guinness.
Slog on the Rhine:
“The official depth at Kaub near Frankfurt, Germany, declined to 23.6 inches (60 centimetres) on Tuesday, its lowest for this time of year in at least two decades, according to Germany’s WSV inland waterway agency. The last time water levels were this low was December 2018.
New forecasts indicate the water level at Kaub will continue to decrease to 18.5 inches (47 centimetres) by Saturday, according to the German Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration.”
My barge draws 24inches so I’m glad I’m not boating on the Rhine!
Is that the “natural” river or an artificial waterway beside the river?
Does there come a point in such systems where they suddenly hit a point of no return and drain down totally?
That’s a serious question rather than a tease.
I think it’s the actual river. I’m not aware that the Rhine or other major commercial waterways have drained down completely.
A couple of years ago I took the boat up the Thames at low tide and literally in the middle of the river at Putney I crunched the gravel on the bottom…
I wasn’t thinking of the rivers themselves, but rather the canals, where presumably, if the headers are dry, the whole thing gets drained via gravity.
We usually take an annual trip to Beaune and drive West along the canal. They have been upgrading everything and over the years we’ve seen sections that are empty of water.
Where we are, near the Dordogne, there are sections of canal that are much higher than the river, now mainly used for fishing rather than barges/gabarres, the locks up and down still seem to work. They would appear to have been dug to bypass shallow and rapids.
Draining down of a canal usually only happens when there is a breach. When there is a lack of rainfall, water in the top pound is conserved by limiting the opening hours of locks,
If it should happen when you are on the canal is there any risk to the structural integrity of your barge and also can it harm the structural integrity of the canal?
A steel barge is pretty bullet proof. I have heard a tale of a barge sitting in the mud when a canal has drained and when the canal is refilled the suction on the bottom of the boat is so great that it can’t float and the result is water inundation. How true I don’t know and certainly don’t want to test the story!
Breaches can cost £millions to repair. On the Shropshire Union there is a lengthy section of canal on a very high embankment that for safe reasons during WWII was closed at nights in case of German Bombing…
Those canal builders certainly knew what they were about!
Indeed. They were the Motorways of the day for HGVs. I still can’t get over the fact that the River Wey was canalised in 1653. 369 years ago!
Here’a a photo of two boat builders Mark & Daryl – both skilful welders and engineers: (Wendy did the admin!)

Here’s a Rhine webcam on the Dutch/German border. Dark at the moment, but should be pk for a look in the morning.

Thanks for posting. Clearly there doesn’t seem to be a problem in the Lower Rhine with barge traffic movement. I recall reading that when river levels drop barge owners are sometimes forced to reduce the tonnage of the load so the boat floats a few inches higher out of the water.
Brilliant exposition of the creation of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony on Radio 3 now Well worth listening to.
I misread that as ‘explosion’ – however, that’s exactly what Beethoven intended !
Apparently the 5th incorporates part of a tune that Wolfgang Amadeus wrote not to mention a snippet of La Marseilles …
I just listened as well, it was really interesting.

G,
1400/1600 youngsters in the rotherham area would argue that point with you,
then again the lab/lib/con majority voter would agree with you.
I though it was for trimming toenails
I thought it was a doctor who specialised in children’s medical conditions. Lol.
She, the above, is certainly safe from sexual advances.
Well Tommy might try

Right, that’s me off to bed.
Goodnight all.
A little bit of AA Milne…
I’ve had my supper and had my supper
And HAD my supper and all;
I’ve heard the story of Cinderella
And how she went to the ball.
I’ve cleaned my teeth and said my prayers
And I’ve cleaned and said them right……
And etc I need to brush my teeth and I will say some words into the quiet darkness…
Sleep well Y’all and see you tomorrow.
Everyone gone to bed? Good night all 😴
Is that a question – or an assumption, Ndovu?
IAC, Good night!
Both, I think 🤔- Good morning!

Thank you.
Another early good morning to anyone about.
DT & Self are again sat up in bed with mugs of tea after waking up at the same time.
15° outside when I made the tea just now.
A quick blast of things American, it seems that Liz Cheney will be getting the equivalent of her P45 off the Wyoming voters this year:-
Good morning all – Wednesday’s new page is here.
Thank you Sir.
And a good morning to you.
